David LaChapelle: Britney Didn’t Have A Breakdown

Celebrity photographer David LaChapelle has said his pal Britney Spears did not suffer from a breakdown.

Talking about former reports of the popstar behaving erratically, such as when she shaved her head, David said: “Britney didn’t have a breakdown, it was just a blip.”

The photographer and director met Britney when he took the infamous shot of a semi-clad 17-year-old Britney in Lolita mode for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

David was speaking at the preview of his exhibition, Jesus Is My Homeboy at Robilant + Voena gallery in London.

Renowned for taking erotic photos of semi-clad celebrities, Naomi Campbell, Faye Dunaway and Drew Barrymore are just an eclectic few, he’s also shot the random, such as Marilyn Manson dressed up as a lollipop lady.

In short, he’s the man stars fall over themselves to use when they want to appear ironic, or kitsch or just plain provocative.

On his art, he said: ” I never push anyone into doing anything they don’t want to. It’s not just thrown at them at the last minute. We work closely on a narrative beforehand so they’ll understand the idea behind what we’re trying to do.”

The exhibition includes images such as Kanye West as the passion of the Christ and Courtney Love as Mary Magdalene.
