Kylie Minogue has jumped to the defence of Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse, saying fans should not judge them by bad headlines.
The Aussie songstress says she empathises with her two troubled contemporaries, saying: ‘I do. I don’t know either of them but what would frustrate me and what sometimes still does is a headline gives you three or four words worth of person, personality and life and ideals and aims and failures and everything that you are.’
She made her comments ahead of being given the Music Industry Trust Award at the Grosvenor House hotel in London tonight.
Minogue, 39, also denies she’s sacrificed a family life for her fame saying: ‘I wouldn’t say sacrified, I’ve been devoted. But I could have married a boyfriend when I was younger and be doing the school run now and who’s to say that would be the more rewarding life for me?’
The ’2 Hearts’ singer says she’s not worried that she’s still single on the doorstep of her 40th birthday, adding: ‘I’m not scared of turning 40. I joke about it with my girlfriends and I think it’s gonna be quite liberating.’
‘I’ve always heard through the years, as a woman, 40 is when you really come into your own and I think it’s happening,’ she told Q magazine.
