A Mother's Gift Selling Well
Britney Spears' publishers say her debut novel is selling well. 'A Mother's Gift' has been tagged as a flop by some critics. Boxtree says otherwise. It has sold nearly 10,000 copies in the UK since it was published in May. A spokesman said: "It's selling very well indeed for a debut novel." Although it received a mixed response on its US release, 'A Mother's Gift' earned a Top Five spot on The New York Times' bestselling children's book list. source

Sonicnet.com mentioned that seventeen-year-old Kristy Lee, who has a contract with Britney Spears' new production company, said that Britney has agreed to appear in her first music video.

Britney's acting is impressive, says her co-star
Britney Spears' co-star in her film debut says she is impressed with the singer's acting. The film What Friends Are For isn't likely to be released until next year. Co-star Taryn Manning says people will be surprised by Britney's performance. "Everybody's going to be like 'Wow!'" she said. "I was a little sceptical myself at first. Then I read the script and auditioned with her and she blew my mind with her acting. "She has it. It's within her. It's natural and she's fun to be with." Britney Karaoke Style

BT to add his spin on upcoming album
MTV reported that BT (Brian Transeau), who produced NSync's latest hit single, "Pop," has recorded two tracks for Britney's upcoming album. One of which he described as "insane." She was so moved by BT's work, she had to have a taste for herself. She spent a few days in BT's home studio last week recording the two tracks, an untitled dance number and the groundbreaking "Before the Goodbye." BT told MTV that "It goes back and forth from sounding like new-school R&B, Timbaland-style beats, to progressive house" also adding, "Everyone we've played it for is like, 'This is so crazy that it might just be amazing.'"

Britney Wants To Break Away From Teen Image
Ananova reported that Britney Spears will work with dance producer BT on a track for her forthcoming album. He says she is keen to break away from her teen image. The producer has just finished working on NSync's forthcoming single Pop. He told NME.COM that Britney wanted to do something more cutting edge. But BT admitted he's not entirely happy with his association with pop acts. "I don't want to become the electronic guy who made a bunch of boy bands cool," he said.

Justin Discuss Death Hoax
Jam Showbiz reported that NSYNC's Justin Timberlake says he was just as concerned as many of his fans last week by a false report that had him in a coma and his girlfriend Britney Spears dead after a car accident. The two deejays who perpetrated the hoax have now been fired from their jobs at a Dallas radio station. "I know the first thing I did was call Britney because I was, like, 'Well maybe it got twisted, maybe something did happen to her,'" said Timberlake, 20, yesterday in Toronto while conducting interviews along with his fellow NSYNC bandmates. "'Cause she was in L.A. and I was in, I believe, Philadelphia the day it happened. So we were across the country from each other, and I immediately called her. The first thing she said to me was, 'Hey, where are you?' "We had both heard about it at the same time, and then she was, like, 'I can't believe this.' By the time we actually talked about it, it had been all the way around the world." Still, Timberlake said he wasn't angry at the deejay team, known as Kramer and Twitch. "I feel sorry that they got fired," he said. "I don't know why anyone would make up something like that. That's between them and their radio station. I'm not upset about it. I'm not pissed off towards anybody. I don't have any animosity towards these deejays for doing it. "It just sucks that my family was so worried about it. And Britney's family too, 'cause they're part of my family. I feel like I've grown up with them too. "When the people that you really love and care about are upset and calling you ... I got six phone calls from different people in my family, immediately." Timberlake added that the hoax took the press coverage surrounding him and Spears, who met years ago when they were both young performers at the Mickey Mouse Club, to a new low. Ever since word got out that he and Spears were in a relationship, he said, untrue things have been said, and they deal with that. "But this just took it to a whole other planet, a whole other solar system. And there's nothing you can do about it. There's nothing I can do about it." Britney Hoax Crushed Mom
NYPOST.COM reported that Britney Spears' mother spent an anguished night thinking her daughter was dead after a Dallas radio station broadcast a hoax report that the pop queen was killed in a car smash-up. The KEGL-FM deejays who spun the phony report were fired yesterday and the station sent a letter of apology to Britney and her mom, Lynne. Police and fire officials in Los Angeles were deluged with phone calls from fans and media around the world after deejays known as Kramer and Twitch claimed a source told them Spears, 19, was dead and her boyfriend, *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake, 20, was comatose. The next day, Spears' publicist quashed the rumor and said the pop star's reps were considering legal action against the station. KEGL program director Dwayne Dougherty told The Post, "From what I understand from Britney's management, her mother spent the night believing Britney had been killed."

NME.com reported that Britney Spears and boyfriend Justin Timberlake from 'NSYNC are planning a joint takeover of the pop universe. NME.com can reveal that the couple are planning to move away from teen pop towards an older market and they are also set to collaborate musically on Britney 's new album. The as-yet-untitled album is due out in the autumn and, if their plan works, it will make them the unassailable king and queen of pop.Dance producer BT was recently drafted in by Justin Timberlake to help 'NSync ditch their boy band image on new album 'Celebrity'. The first single 'Pop' is a marked change in direction, with Justin commenting that he was inspired by the sound of UK garage. KEGL-FM's prankster DJs Got Fired!
The Dallas Morning News reported that Kramer & Twitch, the nighttime Dallas DJs who sparked worldwide panic last week by falsely reporting the death of singer Britney Spears, were fired Monday. But the team's dismissal from KEGL-FM (97.1) "The Eagle" stemmed from more than last week's hoax, said Tom Schurr, vice president and market manager in Dallas for station owner Clear Channel Communications. Mr. Schurr said incidents from the team's recent five-month stint at Clear Channel-owned KSJO in San Jose, Calif., also played into the decision. Kramer & Twitch, whose real names are Keith Kramer and Tony Longo, began working at KEGL in summer 1998. The Dallas station continued to air their show when they moved to KSJO in December 2000. They returned to KEGL in May. While in San Jose, the DJs once suggested that motorists run over bicyclists or hit them with their car doors, sparking a huge controversy at the station. "There were some other things that I only have a cursory knowledge of that came up while they were out there," Mr. Schurr said. "As you well know, sometimes you do something, but it doesn't become a problem for some time later. ..." Mr. Kramer said Monday that he and his partner were surprised by the decision. *NSYNC And BBMak Discuss Justin/Britney Accident Hoax
LAUNCH reported that *NSYNC singer Lance Bass told LAUNCH that his bandmate Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are alive and well, despite all the hype a false car-accident report received last week when it was picked up by several major media outlets. "Oh yeah, he and Britney are definitely alive," he said. "I mean, I can't believe that spread so fast, but yeah, I mean, I don't see how CNN and ABC could actually report stuff like that and not even get it for fact." Bass added that it was more than just *NSYNC (news - web sites) fans who were upset by the incident--Timberlake's own mother was shocked when she first heard of the false story. "The thing that really kind of makes us mad is when it hits news that fast, you don't even have time to call your families and tell them it's not true," he explained. "He had family members who really thought it was true because they saw it on CNN. They're all just, like, devastated. His mom's calling. I mean, it's just crazy before we can have time to relay the message that: 'It's not true. We're on tour over in the East Coast.'" BBMak is currently opening for *NSYNC on select dates of the group's PopOdyssey tour. BBMak singer Ste McNally noted that the prank could have a profound effect on fans of the pop music superstars. "Kids put their heart and soul into some of these bands and saying stuff like they've been in a car accident, it can be a shock, especially if it's not true," he said. "You know, you think something bad has happened to someone you really like and then it's not… it's a bit sick really. They don't want anything to happen to their favorite artists, but I'm sure they [the DJs] won't make that mistake again."

Britney Spears Signs Teen Country Act Kristy Lee
CDNOW reported that Britney Spears has formed a production company and announced her first artist will be a teen country singer. Seventeen-year-old Kristy Lee was unveiled as the newest signing to Arista Nashville (part of the RCA Label Group) prior to the RLG Fan Fair show on Sunday (June 17). Lee, who hails from Selma, Ore., is also the debut artist for Spears' newly formed production company -- which apparently is so new it remains unnamed at the moment. Spears will make a cameo appearance in Lee's first video, have Lee join her on tour, and "basically help me out in my career to get well known around the world," said Lee. Country music observers might recall that 'NSync's Bass signed 16-year-old Meredith Edwards to his Free Lance Entertainment last year; Bass' shared limelight generated interest in Edwards from the get-go when she accompanied him to awards shows and the like. Her first single, "A Rose Is a Rose," peaked at No. 37 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart; her current single, "The Bird Song," is currently at No. 47. Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, said the pop singer formed her production company out of a desire to "discover and help promote other young talent." Spears and Lee met through Rudolph, who is Lee's attorney, "and Britney fell in love with Kristy's voice the first time she heard it," Rudolph stated. Lee told the Fan Fair group that she and Spears connected when they both realized they hailed from small towns. A debut release is tentatively slated for spring 2002. RLG also announced that it is negotiating to sign the Wilkinsons and George Jones.

Yahoo! today announced that consumers watched more than 400,000 video streams of Britney Spears' shopping spree from Yahoo! Shopping, making the event the largest Yahoo! Shopping-enabled webcast to date. The Pepsi-sponsored event was promoted on Yahoo!'s network from June 11 through June 14, and was made possible by a relationship with YOUtopia.com, who provided the video footage. The next three previously unseen episodes will debut over the next three weeks, and will feature footage of Britney and Justin shopping in retail stores like FAO Schwarz in New York, culminating in episode four with Britney shopping in London's Covent Garden district.

Auctions for Britney Spears Foundation
Yahoo News reported that buying a piece of fame online is easy because thousands of online celebrity auctions fill the pages of such Web action sites as Yahoo! and eBay every day. The Yesterday lithographs, according to the auction listing, were "faithfully reproduced" from the original score and are "complete with mistakes, coffee stains and certificate of authentication." Bids for the numbered lithographs, which are autographed by Paul McCartney and George Martin, range from US$450 to $4,500. Proceeds from the Yesterday auction will go to benefit the island of Montserrat, which was devastated by a volcano in 1997. Items being auctioned by Spears and Timberlake include a shirt autographed by Timberlake, going for $650 as of Thursday, to a costume worn by Spears on her 2000 tour that earned a bid of $1,525. Fans Disappointed Britney Did Not Perform
Yahoo News reported that many young fans were disappointed when Britney didn't even perform one song at the annual Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles this weekend. She appeared as a special host, and presented among others the Backstreet Boys in front of 60,000 screaming fans. Some people thought she was going to sing a song or something, but that did not happen. Some fans didn't even like her new hair style. The Sun Newspaper Online reported that Britney Spears leaves little to the imagination as she wears a tiny see-through pink top at a star-studded concert. The 19-year-old blonde bombshell, famed for her sexy outfits, was snapped backstage at the weekend's Wango Tango gig at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles. Britney and Justin Not Paying Their Bar Tab
According to the latest edition of Twist magazine you’d think with the millions of dollars they’re making, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wouldn’t have trouble paying their bills, right? Well apparently, while partying recently at a New York club the dynamic duo were having such a great time (read: canoodling all night) that they completely skipped out on their $600 (yikes!) tab! Katrillion reported that Britney Spears admits they're fake - her eyelashes, that is. "False lashes are so much fun and she loves them," said celebrity makeup artist Michael Criscuolo, who did Britney's makeup for the cover of British Cosmopolitan. To get fun, sexy lashes like Britney takes practice, according to Criscuolo. "You put the lashes on as close to the lash line as possible. The best way to do it is to get a mirror and put your elbows up on a table so you get the leverage. Use only a little bit of glue. After it dries, put your mascara on your normal lashes right up to the false ones," he told Katrillion. Don't worry about making a mistake either. Britney Death Prank Passes with No Penalty
Miami Herald reported that as radio hoaxes go, this one doesn't seem all that creative: Take to the airwaves and pronounce pop stars Britney Spears and boyfriend Justin Timberlake dead in a Los Angeles car accident. Were the Dallas duo of Kramer & Twitch conducting some sociological experiment that went over most people's heads? Or did they simply figure out a way to make the phones light up and get the media to write about them? Kramer & Twitch, who are on weeknights at KEGL-FM (97.1), the Clear Channel Communications-owned Dallas rock station nicknamed ``the Eagle,'' weren't elaborating this week. Neither was KEGL program director Duane Doherty, who didn't return numerous calls, nor was the staff at Clear Channel's corporate headquarters in San Antonio, which referred all calls back to KEGL. Britney Death-Hoax DJs Could Face Legal Action
Ananova reported that the two shock-jock DJs who started a rumour that Britney Spears is dead could face legal action from Jive Records. Britney's record company is said to be considering suing Kramer and Twitch, who announced the singer's alleged death on a Dallas radio station. The pair claimed Britney and her boyfriend Justin Timberlake had both died in a road accident. Thanks Ruben.

More Shopping With Britney & Justin
Reuters reported that there will be three more episodes of Yahoo's "Shop with Britney Spears". The series will be shown -- on June 21, June 28 and July 5. In the last episode, the couple shops in London's Covent Garden district. The first episode of the shopping series was a success. Eminem & D12 Take Aim At Britney
Launch reported that Eminem takes lyrical jabs at a half dozen celebrities on "Ain't Nuttin' But Music," a song on D12's Devil's Night, scheduled to be released June 19. In one verse, Eminem disses Britney Spears, Everlast, Limp Bizkit's DJ Lethal, and Whitney Houston, while entangling NSYNC's Justin Timberlake and actor Ben Affleck in the mix. The Times of India reported more about the Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake shopping spree. Oops! I bought it again. Teenage pop sensation Britney Spears and Internet media company Yahoo Inc have teamed in a new video that allows fans to follow Spears and boyfriend and 'N Sync heart throb Justin Timberlake on a recent New York shopping spree and click along to shop with the stars. The interactive feature, launched on Yahoo this weekend, features a soundtrack by Spears, and prompts users to buy everything from her hit 2000 album "Oops! I Did It Again" to a size-four lavender halter, which like many other items, she deems "cool." In the seven-minute video, sponsored by PepsiCo Inc., 19-year-old Spears fills her virtual shopping cart with $887.37 of merchandise, including a $194.90 Dolce & Gabbana T-shirt. BBC Considering Legal Action Over Fake Britney Death Web Report
Ananova reported that the BBC may take legal action after a fake BBC news website reported falsely that Britney Spears had died. The web page was created following a hoax radio news report that the singer and her boyfriend Justin Timberlake had died in a car crash. BBC bosses have traced the spoof news page's creators to California. The fake web report said Britney had been killed by a white pretzel delivery truck in New York, and that the driver had said, "Oops, I did it again", after the crash. The fake webpage was identical to one circulated earlier this year claiming that Hear'say singer Suzanne Shaw had committed suicide. A BBC spokesperson told NME.COM: "We're currently talking to our solicitors. This is not a case of hacking into the BBC website. False Radio Report Worries Fans of Spears and Timberlake
Los Angeles Times reported that fans of pop music stars Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake flooded fire and police phone lines Tuesday night after two disc jockeys reported a false rumor that the pair had died in a Los Angeles traffic accident. The rumor was spread by San Jose deejays Kramer & Twitch on their radio program being broadcast by Dallas rock station KEGL-FM sometime after 7 p.m. Pacific time. Coroner's officials said there was no truth to the claim of the pair's death. Representatives of Spears, 19, and Timberlake, 20, a singer with the band 'N Sync, could not be reached. The Dallas radio station's request and business lines were busy or went unanswered. But as the rumor spread, the Los Angeles Fire and Police departments were inundated with calls from the news media and worried fans. Officer Jason Lee of the LAPD said he got 50 to 75 calls in a matter of hours. Brian Humphrey, a spokesman for the Fire Department, received more than 100 calls. The California Highway Patrol and local hospitals also received calls. They came in from across the country and around the world. Lee said he fielded calls from Australian and New Zealand news media."It really spoiled my night," Humphreys said. After a while, Humphrey put a taped message on his voice mail announcing that the Fire Department had "no knowledge of a well-known singer and her boyfriend" being involved in an accident. On a Web site called the Addicted to Britney Spears Support Group, distraught fans tried to reassure themselves. "I heard here on a Dallas, Texas, radio station that Britney Spears died in a car accident. Anyone else hear anything?" asked one fan. MTV Online reported that 'NSYNC have drafted Britney Spears, as well as NBA stars Tracy McGrady and Elton Brand, for their third annual Challenge for the Children Celebrity Skills Challenge and Basketball Game. The event, which takes place in Las Vegas on July 28-29, will feature two celebrity teams going head-to-head on the court, both in a game and in slam-dunk and three-point contests. Madonna Documentary will include an interview with Britney
Reuters reported that Madonna will be the focus of a major one-hour documentary to be shown ahead of the British leg of her world tour, the BBC said Tuesday. A spokeswoman for the state-owned British Broadcasting Corporation said the program, to be aired in early July, will analyze the longstanding love affair between Britons and the 42-year-old diva and mother of two. MTV Will Give People Star Makeovers
Associated Press reported that MTV can help you become one of your favorite music stars -at least for a little while. The cable music channel this week is launching a new show, "Becoming." MTV will pick fans up in a limousine, give them makeovers, teach them choreography and let them recreate their favorite videos. Cameras will capture the transformation along the way, then show the finished product. The players were chosen from casting calls, fan Web sites, karaoke bars and college campuses. BMG Loses Jive in Canada
NYPOST.COM reported that The music label, whose chairman recently proclaimed the company would make no money this year, lost its Canadian distribution deal with Zomba Group's Jive Records - and the U.S. could be next. That means the German music giant will now lose the right to distribute such superstars as the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC and Britney Spears in Canada - stripping it of valuable market share. Sources close to the situation say it is likely Zomba Chairman Clive Calder will sign a new Canadian distribution deal with EMI Group - which already distributes Jive Records in Latin America and parts of Europe. But Calder's move poses another serious threat to BMG. Bertelsmann's music group still has the rights to distribute Jive's tunes in the U.S. It is a very lucrative deal for BMG, which, at times, derives more than a third of its market share of the U.S. music market from distributing Jive's popular brand of music. Insiders say Jive could pull its U.S. contract with BMG at any time - though the label must give BMG six months' notice. Reps for Jive and BMG declined to comment on their talks. Sources close to the companies say Jive has yet to alert BMG of its intent to go elsewhere with its U.S. distribution rights. Jive told BMG at the end of March that it would take back its Canadian rights. It now has until September to ink a deal with another label.

IMDB reported that Britney Spears stunned her young fans at Los Angeles's Shrine Auditorium Saturday, when she, and a host of stars, chose to use red-hot language at the MTV Movie Awards. Britney, who is better known for her proud claims of chastity and devout Christianity, left audience members gasping when she told one of the show's hosts, Kirsten Dunst, to "go to hell" in a pre-recorded comedy sketch. And when the Bring It On star, who co-hosted the event with Jimmy Fallon, pointed out the bad impression her tones were creating, 19-year-old Spears responded, "How about this for a lasting impression - my foot in your a**!"

Read Britney's Novel Online
BBC UK has gotten the exclusive online rights to Britney's novel, A Mothers Gift. It's in relation of the European launching of the book they've gotten permission to publish parts of the text on their website. The first two chapters is allready online, and they will be putting up more installments every day until next Friday! It starts with a little introduction about Biscay, a small town where gossip is the only thing that keeps people going. "Biscay is definetely dead" is the usual declaration of anyone under sixteen.
