FHM votes Britney as The World's Sexiest Woman
dotmusic reporting that Britney Spears has been voted the world's sexiest woman - by members of her own sex! The teenage pop firecracker came top in a poll of stars in the annual chart in UK magazine FHM.Britney, whose new album 'Oops I Did It Again' was beaten to Number One in the album charts this weekend by Whitney Houston, leapt from last year's placing at Number 25 to the top of the poll. The chart was compiled purely from votes from women, although the entire vote will be unveiled on Friday, with votes from both sexes.
Britney on The Lycos 50
The Lycos 50 had a report on Britney Spears. "You've got to hand it to Britney Spears -- she's been a search juggernaut since early 1999, when her famous bare midriff first appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. She's claimed the turf Pamela Anderson used to own: the Web's hottest entertainer who isn't really famous because of her talent. Pamela has recently (and blessedly) faded out of the top 10, but right now you can't pry Britney out of the top 5 with a crowbar. Now Ms. Spears has a brand new album: Oops, I Did It Again. The album, her followup to the ultra-hit ...Baby, One More Time hit stores on Tuesday and has been selling briskly. All of which leads Lycos to ask: can this new album help Britney knock Pokemon out of the top spot? We'll know more tomorrow, when the week's new Lycos 50 comes out. Frankly, she's got a long ways to go: last week Pokemon more than doubled Britney's searches."

Britney Expected To Dethrone *NSync On Album Sales Chart
SonicNet reporting princess Britney Spears has already vanquished Pearl Jam , Whitney Houston and even the mighty *NSync with her new album, which is headed for the top of the chart next week, retailers across the country said on Thursday (May 18). The album, Oops! ... I Did It Again, has sold well in the three days since its release Tuesday, though so far it's not reaching the blockbuster numbers that *NSync's No Strings Attached achieved when it was released in March, according to retailers. "It's doing what we expected to do, maybe a little better — these are expected Britney Spears sales, [which] are higher than most," said Lenny Piazza, general manager of the Virgin Megastore in Orlando, Fla., the city where Spears spent years as a Mouseketeer.
Britney and Prince William?
music365 reporting that Britney is said to still be 'determined' to have her hot date with Prince William on her next London visit. The teen pop sensation, whose second album 'Oops... I Did It Again' is expected to be Number One in the UK album charts on Sunday (May 21), has tried to hook up with the teenage prince twice before on London jaunts. So far she has never managed to meet him. The pair have been writing to each other since last year after Britney found out the 17-year-old prince had a crush on her. According to Friday's (May 19) edition of UK tabloid the Daily Star, the star - linked to N*Sync member Justin Timberlake - says she has exchanged notes with the prince, but isn't sure she'd want to be a princess: "I don't know if I'd really want to be a princess. If you have everything, what do you have to strive for?" The popstress said that blond Prince William definitely won't be the man she marries - because her fortune teller told her she will wed at 23 to a dark-haired man.

sonicnet reporting, while Britney Spears' sophomore album is not expected to break the recent history-making chart debut of her labelmates *NSync, she may set her own record, industry insiders said. Retailers said the teen pop singer's LP Oops! ... I Did It Again, due Tuesday, has a good chance of exceeding the million-sales mark in its opening week. That would give Spears the biggest chart debut by a female artist. "It won't be as big as the *NSync boys, but I don't think a million is out of line for her," Joe Kvidera, general manager at Tower Records in Chicago, said. "I think she'll break a million, definitely," said Justin Fearrington, assistant store manager at Wherehouse Records in Los Angeles. "It's gonna be the album to have." Fearrington said he expects that Oops! will draw the same fans who bought Spears' 1999 debut, ...Baby One More Time considering only a little more than a year has passed. Baby, which is certified 11 times platinum, was one of last year's most successful albums.

Britney Spears on "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know"
VH1 writes 'Britney Spears on "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know," written for her by Shania Twain and hubby "Mutt" Lange: "When you hear the song, it's so pure and delicate. It's just one of those songs that pull you in. That's why I like it, and I like singing it as well. I think they wrote it especially for me because the lyrics of the song, if you really listen … they're more of what I can relate to, 'cause they're kind of young lyrics, I think. I don't think Shania would probably sing some of the words that I'm saying."'

Jennifer Grey, who starred with Patrick Swayze in the original, said: "If Britney wants to do it, good on her. It's an important film for me and if they want to do a remake, they should make a remake." Grey also revealed she would consider making a cameo appearance in the follow-up. But she'd have to see the script first, the actress added. Since rising to fame, 18-year-old Spears has been linked with latter-day big screen versions of children's classic Alice In Wonderland and Grease. Thanks A51JM.

Britney in June 2000 GQ
Britney is in the cover of the June 2000 issue of GQ. In the article she quoted in saying ‘I want to be a legend, like Madonna. That’s what I strive for, that is what I pray for every day.’ Britney Spears is certainly heading in the right direction, but GQ questions her staying power once the novelty of a school girl in uniform has worn off. Whatever, there aren’t many girls who can carry off a silver catsuit the way she does in this month’s GQ. Check out the picture of the cover here of the June 2000 GQ.

Britney says she'll visit Australia next year
AAP is reporting that Britney Spears is likely to make her first tour of Australia next year. News of Spears' plan to tour down-under came as the 18-year-old appeared at a promotional event in Japan to launch her new album, Oops! ... I Did It Again. "I plan to begin a world tour in June of this year," Spears told AAP from Tokyo. "It will run through the US for four months and then I go to Europe for five weeks, so it probably will be some time next year before I get to Australia. "I hope I can take some vacation days in Australia because I have heard it is so beautiful." Grant Gillies, promotions manager for Zomba Records, which represents Spears in Australia through its Jive Records label, told AAP "things are looking pretty positive". "At this stage we're hoping she'll come out some time early next year," he said. Last night's launch of the new album at Kokusi Forum Hall in Tokyo was attended by 800 members of the media from throughout Asia and 2,000 fans who won tickets after entering local competitions. Spears has sold more than 20 million copies of her debut album, Baby One More Time, and is the youngest female to achieve ten-times platinum status and to notch a number one album and single in the US with debut recordings. Britney #14 on Teen People's Top 25 Under 25
Britney was honored again this year in Teen People's "25 Hottest Stars Under 25" poll. This appears to be their version to People's "50 Most Beautiful People." Here's what they had to say about Britney: You'd think a big-time pop star like Britney Spears couldn't possibly be daunted by a stadium full of screaming fans. Not so. "You get all jittery, like 'Oh, my God, they're here for me?'" says Britney, recalling a 1999 performance in Canada before 20,000 shriekers. "It's so amazing - just a year [before] I was performing in malls." These days, you'll still find Britney at a mall - in the form of her look-alike dolls, her signature CD bubblegum and her new memoir. Armed with the hot dance moves of a Janet Jackson and the shock value of a Madonna, Britney is sure to see her new album, Oops!...I Did It Again, make good on its name - and then some. Also inside this issue is a special excerpt and photos from Britney Spears' Heart to Heart, Britney's memoir that is cowritten with her mother, Lynne. This issue of Teen People is on newsstands now.

"I'm so happy to give kids the opportunity to learn about the amazing world of dance and music that I've been lucky enough to make a big part of my life," Britney has said. "It's exciting to think that I might help inspire a talented kid to pursue her dreams."

Question from RollingStone Interview
Thanks to A51JM we got one question from the RollingStone Interview, in which Britney talks about her relatioship with Justin Timberlake.
Interviewer: "I thought you did date someone in the business."
Spears laughs and begins to change the subject. You can't take it anymore.
"Let's face it," you blurt out. "You go out with Justin from NSync. Everyone
knows it. What's the point in not admitting it?"
Spears laughs. "OK," she says. "Why am I smiling?...OK....I adore him. He is
the cutest thing in the world, and we talk, but it's nothing serious."
You ask if they are boyfriend and girlfriend,
"I wouldn't say we're boyfriend and girlfriend.," she says. "We hook up every
once in awhile, and we'll talk. We're closer than me and Lance and Joey and
the other guys in the group. Me and Justin are closer, just because we've
known each other forever. We talk all the time, but we're not boyfriend and
girlfriend. We just hang out."
But when you hang out, do you do things like, say, kiss?
"Sometimes," says Spears. She screams. "Oh my God. My manager's going to kill
me."
She screams again.
"Oh God," she yells. "I'm blushing." It is a cathartic moment.

Britney Spears Hopes To One Day Perform With Madonna
Pop princess Britney Spears recently finished a whirlwind visit to the U.K. to promote her new track, "Oops! . . . I Did It Again," from the upcoming album of the same (due May 16). Spears has said many different musicians inspired her while recording the album, but she tells us there's one artist in particular with whom she'd really like to work. "When I was younger, I really looked up to Madonna," she says. "I liked her a lot. She was such an amazing performer. I used to look in the mirror all the time with a hairbrush and sing like a total goof. I would love to perform with Madonna. I just think she's amazing. I totally idolize her, so to be able to do a duet with her -- to even perform with her -- would be really cool." Thanks A51JM.
Britney earning $200,000 Per Show
Britney's tour in support of Oops! . . . I Did It Again kicks off on June 20 in Columbia, Maryland. The singer's concert promoter SFX has guaranteed her a minimum of $200,000 per show for a 100-show tour, reports Forbes magazine, which includes her among "the Forbes Celebrity 100"; the singer was also featured on the March cover of the magazine.
