Confirmed that Britney A Guest at the 2001 MTV Movie Awards
Someone from MTV confirmed that at the 2001 Movie Awards Britney will be a guest. Correction, Britney is not going announce when "What Friends Are For" will be in theaters and she will not show a small clip from the movie "What Friends Are For".

Britney Named Grand Marshal For 43rd Annual Pepsi 400
Excite reported that Britney Spears will serve as grand marshal for the 43rd annual Pepsi 400 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race on Saturday, July 7 at 8 p.m. at Daytona International Speedway. Spears will give the command to start the engines to the field of 43 drivers in front of more than 200,000 race fans at the Speedway and millions of fans around the world watching the mid-summer classic on the first NASCAR broadcast of the year for NBC. Britney Give Praise in a CD from Pope John Paul II
Billboard.com reported that 'N Sync, Faith Hill, and Britney Spears will be among the artists reading prayers by Pope John Paul II on a spoken-word CD due out in North America during the Christmas season. The CD serves as a companion piece to "The Private Prayer Books of Pope John Paul II," a seven-volume collection of his personal writings. In addition, a video/DVD on the making of the CD project will be released. "The prayer books, CD and video represent a project that is global in its scope," Rick Garson, chairman of co-distributor Compulsion Entertainment, said in a statement. Compulsion Entertainment and Pocket Books already have reached a deal on North American rights and are working on a multimillion dollar agreement for the project worldwide. Portions of the proceeds will be donated to charities selected by the Vatican.

Pepsi Plans To Launch a New Ad Featuring Britney Spears
Yahoo News reported that as Coca Cola launches its campaigns with Christina Aguilera, Pepsi plans yet another ad featuring pop star Britney Spears - and leverage its ties with Major League Baseball in a a campaign later in the season. The company also plans to launch new advertising for its Aquafina water and Mountain Dew drinks in the coming weeks. Pepsi also currently has a campaign tied into Paramount's ``Tomb Raider'' movie starring Angelina Jolie, which is set to hit theaters next month. Coke's big movie tie-in is with the much anticipated ``Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'' movie from Warner Bros. The movie, based on the blockbuster book series by J.K. AllPop reported Britney Spears and U.K. pop singer Dido have teamed up. Dido, famous for her "Roswell" theme-song and "Thank You," the song sampled by bad-boy rapper Eminem, has been penning lyrics for none other than the princess of pop, The BBC reports. Dido is writing lyrics for a song that Britney will sing for her new movie. "It was quite a challenge for me to write something that's definitely about pop," Dido told The BBC's Radio 1. Yahoo News reported that Britney Spears declares she's "very much in love" with boyfriend Justin Timberlake from 'N Sync. "He's such a beautiful person inside and out. We have so much fun together. He makes me laugh." She tells US Weekly, in its June 4 issue, that she and Justin were initially reluctant to make their first outing as a couple at the MTV Video Music Awards, where their relationship moved to another level. "We weren't going to go together, but beforehand Justin was like, 'Isn't this kind of weird? You're here with me, and we're not going with each other.' I was like, 'You know what? Who cares? Let's just start.' And since then ... we can't be away from each other." For Britney's 19th birthday, Timberlake took her to Palm Springs, Calif., for three days. As a present, he also gave her an entire bedroom set. Several weeks later they sneaked off to Vail, Colo. A new study from The Slay Media Access Study reveals that Americans given a list of names of people who have been in the news recently, Americans indicated that they were most familiar with Tiger Woods. The golf superstar scored 92 percent on the familiarity scale, followed by actress Julia Roberts (90 percent), actor Jim Carrey (87 percent) and pop music star Britney Spears (84 percent). Americans were more familiar with those four than they were with Vice President Dick Cheney (78 percent) or Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan (67 percent). Only 10 percent of Americans said they were familiar with Chinese President Jiang Zemin. It's fascinating that even after millions of words have been written about the high-stakes collision between a U.S. surveillance plane and a Chinese military aircraft that the leader of the largest country in the world is still so unfamiliar to Americans," said Slay. Experience Britney Interactive DVD Announced
Reuters announced that Britney Spears is making her first foray into the video game world, adding a high-tech venture to a career that already spans music, publishing, dolls, an advertising deal with Pepsi-Cola and her first movie. California immersive technology company Enroute Inc. announced Thursday it was developing an interactive video DVD called "Experience Britney" for use on a range of video game consoles. Enroute Inc. co-founder Paul Cha said the DVD would use 360 degree FirstPerson technology containing footage of Spears' latest world concert tour that allows users to control where and what to watch on a wrap-around landscape. It will also allow fans to go backstage and will include games. Immersive technology, in the case of Spears, would involve her being recorded at a concert from all angles on a 360 degree plain. Using controls, the viewer could go behind Spears to watch the audience reaction, or watch the singer from the side. "Experience Britney gives you the best seat in the house at a Britney Spears concert," Cha told a news conference at the annual video game trade show, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3. Spears, 19, who is currently shooting her first movie, said in a statement she was "really excited to be the first artist to use Enroute's FirstPerson technology. It's a great new way of watching a concert." The interactive DVD is expected to hit stores by the end of the year.

Britney in latest J-14 Magazine
In the latest J-14 magazine they have inside pictures of britney on the set of her new movie in hollywood, CA. They also said her new cd is going to be tentatively titled "Shock Your Mind". They put "tentatively titled" meaning they aren't really sure and it is not confirmed by anyone. But that's the rumor that is going around. Josie: The press leaked a rumour that you might be writing for Britney. What's the update to that?
Dido: It was quite an exaggerated story - I read it as well. All that happened was the guys that write a lot of her songs needed some help with a song that she's doing for this film that she is going to be in and they wanted my help. I was more than happy to help - I think she is lovely! So I helped, finished the song and that was that!

Britney's New Movie: Extended Cast List
Over at UpcomingMovies.com they have announced some never before released info on "What Are Friends For", first of all, we weren't really sure if this was going to be the name of the movie, cause apparently it was a working title, but it has now been confirmed. Secondly, more cast members have been added to the list, and a big name in Hollywood that will be on Britney's movie will be Dan Akroyd and the rest of the list is: Kim Cattrall, Taryn Manning, Zoe Saldana, Rich Voll and of course Britney Spears, more cast members will be announced shortly. The companies producing the movie are: Jive Records, Filmco and Fuzzy Bunny. The release date of the movie is to be announced next year.

Britney Spears in Magazine Battle
The New York Times reported: The magazine wars between Harper's Bazaar and Vogue magazine continue at full tilt, and Ms. Spears is at the heart of the latest battle. Executives at Condé Nast, which owns Vogue, said Ms. Wintour had planned to feature Ms. Spears on the magazine's November cover, but that she had learned that Ms. Spears would be on the August cover of Harper's Bazaar, and was reconsidering giving Ms. Spears the Vogue cover, one of the most coveted pieces of real estate for stars on the rise. Ms. Betts at Harper's Bazaar said that her cover for August had been planned for a long time. "We have been thinking about her for a while," she said. "And we wanted to make sure it was the right moment. August happens to be `our women in power in entertainment' issue, so we figured that was the right moment." A spokesman for Vogue, Patrick O'Connell, said that Ms. Spears had not been taken off the cover schedule. He would not say what month she was scheduled to appear. The battle over Ms. Spears comes at a time of depressed newsstand sales. Vogue's single-copy sales dropped 9.1 percent, to 430,942, on average during the last six-month period audited by the Audit Bureau of Circulations, which ended Dec. 31. Total circulation rose 1 percent, to 1.1 million. Harper's Bazaar's dropped 2.5 percent, to 169,301, with overall circulation dropping 5.7 percent, to 708,104. Lisa Kasteler, Ms. Spears's spokeswoman, said that as far as she knew, Ms. Spears was still confirmed for both covers. When asked what her game plan would be if Ms. Spears was no longer welcome at Vogue, Ms. Kasteler said she had no such plan. "Come on, she's Britney Spears," she said. Information about Britney's New PlayStation 2 Game
MTV reported that Britney Spears doesn't just want to be the next Madonna, now she's aiming to become the next Lara Croft too. Like the virtual hero of "Tomb Raider," Spears will soon cavort onscreen in her own video game — a PlayStation 2 title that promises to feature what the company behind it calls "entertainment elements ... that have never been seen before." No release date or title has been announced, but more details are expected to come to light in a Los Angeles press conference scheduled for Thursday. The conference will be part of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, a video game industry convention. The contents of the game remain a mystery, but prior announcements from its creators, Enroute Inc., provide some clues. Enroute's main product is the "FirstPerson Immersive Video system," a technology that combines video footage from many different cameras to create 3-D environments that users can navigate as they choose. According to the company, the system allows players to watch video footage "in full motion from any angle, as if the viewer is actually within the scene directing the camera."

Madonna and Britney Do the Beatles
ABCNEWS.com reported that Sir Paul McCartney has given the go-ahead for a tribute album to his late wife, Linda. She died of breast cancer in 1998, and he has recently been on a poetry reading tour discussing her illness. The tribute album will raise funds for a cancer charity, while offering some eclectic covers of Beatles tunes. Rapper Dr. Dre, Madonna and Britney Spears will contribute songs along with Julian Lennon, who is expected to perform the 1969 song "Blackbird."
Britney Blamed For Museum Flop
Ananova reported that Britney Spears has upset residents in her home town by not giving away childhood toys to a museum in her honour. The teenage singer reportedly agreed to donate memorabilia to the Britney museum in the US town of Kentwood in Louisana. Members of the town council say she promised childhood drawings, her first stage outfits and her school uniform. The council raised money for the museum, but nothing has arrived from the singer. The one-room museum, which currently offers visitors homemade badges, straw hats and postcards, has been dubbed 'a joke', reports Heat magazine. Thanks Joakim.

Britney Had An Allergic Reaction To A Bee Sting While Filming
It was reported on Wickedcolors that while Britney was filming her movie, a bee stung her and she screamed as it happened unexpectedly. MTV Asia reported that Janet Jackson is worried about pop rival Britney Spears because she'd hate the teen to suffer as she has. The singer reckons she has a particularly soft spot for her pop rival since they've both been faced by similar pressures at an early age. Britney Spears Web Site Fixes Privacy Flaws
Reuters reported that Britney Spears' official Web site has been modified to comply with a federal law protecting children's online privacy, an advertising watchdog group said on Friday. Children under 13 who visit http://britneyspears.com will need parental permission before divulging personal information or using interactive features like the message boards, said Elizabeth Lascoutx, director of the Better Business Bureau's children's advertising review unit. Signatures Network Inc., which maintains the site, also agreed to install a tracking device on the site to prevent visitors from changing their ages to bypass the screening mechanism. The BBB's advertising unit found in February that the site did not restrict access or ask for parental permission for visitors under 13. It contacted Signatures Network on
its own and the federal government was not involved, Lascoutx said. ``This is our voluntary system,'' Lascoutx said. Approximately 96 percent of all businesses comply with the unit's suggestions when contacted, she said. As of Friday afternoon, the message boards and e-mail service were marked ``temporarily closed for maintenance.'' A feature allowing fans to post concert reviews collected names and e-mail addresses and did not screen for age, a practice that does not violate the privacy provisions because the information is not retained permanently by the site, Lascoutx said. Officials at Signatures Network did not immediately return a reporter's calls. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which went into effect in April 2000, requires Web sites that cater to children under 13 to obtain parental consent before collecting personal information or allowing it to be posted on the site. Music365.com reported that Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears spent their whole weekend with a big throbbing machine between their legs, according to The Star. Britney had splashed out on a £6,500 motorbike as a romantic present for her bike mad boyfriend Justin from N'Sync. The pair then set off on a romantic tour of California on the new Harvey Davidson XL 1200C sportster. Britney Calls Julia Roberts Role Model
AP reported that Britney would love to do a duet with Madonna, but says actress Julia Roberts is her role model. "Julia Roberts is my idea of the perfect woman," 19-year-old Spears tells Glamour magazine in its May issue. "She seems very vibrant - her energy is electric - and she seems very at peace with herself, so high on life." Spears was interviewed in Los Angeles while rehearsing for her first movie, a coming-of-age drama directed by Tamra Davis, who directed 1995's "Billy Madison." Entertainment Wire reported that PlanetHollywood.com, the ultimate entertainment channel, is searching for the fans who most resemble pop icons Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. The site is co-sponsoring a "Britney & Justin Look-alike Contest" through June 15. Britney and Justin look-alikes can submit photos online at PlanetHollywood.com. Visitors to the site cast votes for their favorites. Britney's Record Label Bertelsmann Aborts Merger with EMI
Las Vegas Sun reported that EMI Group PLC said Tuesday it has called off talks aimed at merging its music publishing business with that of German media group Bertelsmann AG, blaming insurmountable regulatory hurdles. A combined EMI-Bertelsmann would have been the world's largest recorded music company, with a market share of 26 percent. However, EMI said European Union conditions had made it impossible for it to combine with the Bertelsmann Music Group in a way that created value for shareholders while also meeting the requirements of European and U.S. antitrust authorities. EMI owns the Virgin, Priority and Capitol record labels, and its stable of performers includes Garth Brooks, the Spice Girls and Van Morrison. Regulators were reported to have asked EMI to sell Virgin as a condition for the merger to proceed, but EMI apparently refused.
Britney won't be in Grease 3 because Movie Has Been Halted
ChartAttack reported that MTV is reporting that while their musical career still appears to be hung with horseshoes, the boys in *NSYNC just can’t seem to get a lucky break when it comes to their movie projects. If there’s no warehouse fire halting production on Lance and Joey’s new film in Toronto, then a bunch of red tape is standing in between them and their dreams of a third installment in the legendary Grease series. After months of hard work and anticipation, the boys have been forced to shelve their plans to appear as a group in Grease 3, a musical that was also supposed to feature teen queen Britney Spears. According to sources close to the project, production company Total Film Group has been unable to obtain rights to either the Grease name or the characters, even though they’ve been focussing their energies on since this past October when the group announced their involvement in the project. As a result, any plans to begin work on the movie after the impending SAG strike have been halted.

Ananova reported that Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are still virgins, according to Justin's grandmother.Sadie Nomar says the pair decided not to move into Britney's Los Angeles mansion to avoid temptation.Mrs Nomar said Justin does not agree with sex before marriage, and regarded living with Britney as a sin.
