Jamie Lynn Spears To Follow In Her Sister's Footsteps
Britney has her nine-year-old sister in training to follow in her famous footsteps. She is taking Jamie Lynn Spears out of school to join her on the road. Britney admits a life travelling around the world can get lonely, and decided both she and her sis would benefit from spending more time together. And while Britney gets a travel companion, little Jamie Lynn - who's already showing musical talents - gets the benefit of Britney's top team of dancers to get her in training at a young age. Britney explains, "I told my mom that this year I really needed to be with my sister more. I'm happy because Jamie Lynn is going to come on the road with me when I tour. "We've got a tutor for her and the dancers are going to give her lessons three times a week. She has an amazing voice - it's insane. She's really really talented and she knows it. "She probably has a better personality to be in this business than I do. She's Miss Diva. I'll support her 100% if she decides to do this."

Britney Rehearsing In Columbus, Ohio
britneyfan618 let us know that while watching the local news in Columbus, Ohio that they mentioned that Britney was in Columbus today to rehearse for the tour! They showed her performing in just some sweat pants and a casual shirt. Here's some new info about the tour which they said or from what I heard in the background:

-Songs they showed Britney sing during the news clip: "(You Drive Me) Crazy"
(same as it always is), "Oops!...I Did It Again" (sounds exactly like the
VMA 2000 version), "Overprotected", & "I Love Rock N Roll"
-The stage is designed so no matter where you are in the venue, you have a
good seat.
-There will be a waterfall, yes with REAL water, on the stage!
-The show is described as one of the most "daring" ever to hit America!

People Want To Share Pizza With Britney
A national survey recently conducted by Pizza Hut reveals American consumers have varying definitions of and preferences for all things ``ultimate.'' But what these 1,200 Americans have in common, according to the results of the ``The Pizza Hut Ultimate Survey,'' is the strong opinion of what ``ultimate'' means, particularly when it comes to food. The Pizza Hut Ultimate Survey was conducted in conjunction with the national launch of the Ultimate Lover's Pizzas to help Pizza Hut understand what Americans define as ``ultimate'' in a variety of areas, including food. An overwhelming 63 percent of Americans said a family member would be the ultimate person to share a pizza with. Their second choice was President George W. Bush (13 percent), followed by Oprah Winfrey (10 percent), Britney Spears (9 percent) and Michael Jackson (5 percent).

Stanton Warriors Reject Doing A Britney Dance Remix
WENN reported that BRITNEY SPEARS was mortified when a British dance act rejected her pleas to remix one of her new songs. The STRONGER hitmaker had hoped London-based producers the STANTON WARRIORS would use their studio expertise to turn her next single into a cool club anthem. But the dance duo not only refused a five-figure sum to remix the track - they wouldn't even listen to it. DOMINIC B, of the Stanton Warriors, says, "We like to have some musical integrity and not feel like we've sold ourselves out in the name of cash. "We're all about good music and don't like manufactured stuff such as Britney Spears. "Her record company offered us the chance to remix one of her tracks, but we told them that it wasn't for us. We don't know what song it was because we didn't even ask. We only remix artists we respect - like BASEMENT JAXX, and BUSTA RHYMES."

Is Britney Still A Virgin?
RUMOR: WENN reported that BRITNEY SPEARS is planning a night of passion in a Las Vegas hotel with boyfriend JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. The claim is made by British tabloid newspaper THE DAILY STAR, which suggests the virginal pop princess is ready to lose her cherry to her 'N SYNC heart-throb. The paper claims the SLAVE FOR YOU stunner has ordered bosses at a Las Vegas hotel to transform one of its rooms into a den of sin for the lovers - complete with waterbed and overhead mirrors. It quotes a 'hotel insider' saying, "It's quite common for performers to demand certain perks but Britney's requests raised a few eyebrows. "There's little doubt why Las Vegas is often called Sin City." The revelation comes after Britney told a German magazine that keeping Justin interested without sex was "the most normal thing in the world" for people who live together and love each other.

Britney's New Album Contains Cursing
AP reported that Britney Spears' third studio album comes out next month, and it contains a few curse words that she knows some parents may not want their children to hear. "I guess they just shouldn't buy the album," Spears responded when asked about the language on "Britney" during a conference call on Wednesday. "When I say 'hell' and 'damn,' I say it out of frustration in my songs. It's not, like, a normal term of endearment that I use all the time." The 19-year-old said it's flattering that girls look up to her, but they shouldn't necessarily try to copy the sexy way she dresses on stage. "It's honestly up to their parents to explain to them that I'm a performer, and that when I'm on stage, that's my time to perform and express myself, that I don't wear those clothes to the supermarket or to a ball game," she said.

Britney Aims For Older Fans
Ananova reported that Britney Spears wants to attract older listeners with her new album. She says she would get bored if she carried on rehashing her earliest hits. But Britney doesn't want to alienate her original fans. "It's not my intention to leave my young fans. I just want an older generation to pick up on it as well," she said. "I couldn't do Baby One More Time number three. I had to change it up and pray people think that's cool." The song on the album which was written by her boyfriend Justin Timberlake is not about her, reports www.sonicnet.com. "It's talking about a girl in a relationship and the boy doesn't understand what she's going through," said Britney. "Before she opens up to him, he has to realize what she's about."

Britney Scraps BT Dance Tracks
Ananova reported that Britney Spears says tracks she recorded with dance producer BT will not feature on her new album. She says the type of music BT made didn't fit in with the style of the album. However, she says that BT is a genius. Britney said: "I was really disappointed we weren't able to use the tracks BT has done. "He's a genius in whatever he does, but the type of music he ended up doing didn't fit me and what I was going for." Britney recorded two tracks with BT, who has also worked with her NSync star boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

Britney Says 'Britney' Reflects Who Britney Is
from MTV.com: I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" is not one of the five songs Britney Spears co-wrote for her upcoming record. It is the one she feels closest to, however.

"It's really where I'm at right now and something I can really relate to," Spears said of the sole ballad on Britney, due November 6.

The song, written by Dido and producers Max Martin and Rami, will be the second single from the album, following up "I'm a Slave 4 U," the pop princess revealed Wednesday during a phone interview with reporters.

Spears said much of the material on her third record reflects who she is, which is why she named it Britney.

However, the song co-written by the person who may know her most intimately, boyfriend Justin Timberlake, is not about her.

"It's talking about a girl in a relationship and the boy doesn't understand what she's going through," Spears said of the tune produced and penned by 'NSYNC's Timberlake and choreographer Wade Robson. "Before she opens up to him, he has to realize what she's about."

Likely influenced by electronic-music guru BT, who produced the 'NYSNC hit "Pop," Timberlake made "What It's Like to Be Me" a sonically explosive track, complete with human-beatbox solo.

BT recorded at least two tracks with Spears for the album, though they did not make the cut.

"I was really disappointed we weren't able to use the tracks BT had done," Spears said. "He's a genius in whatever he does, but the type of music he ended up doing didn't fit me and what I was going for. I think they will be on some of the stuff [released] overseas."

Spears recorded 23 tracks for Britney, and choosing the 12 best for the album, she said, was the most, if not the only, difficult part of the recording process.

Writing, which Spears first attempted on "Diary" from last year's Oops! ... I Did It Again, came more easily to the singer this time, due partially to the assistance she received from writing team Josh and Ryan.

While Spears simply came up with the concepts they developed on some of the tracks, she wrote both melody and words for others.

"This is the first album I have every really written and taken my time on," Spears said. "So when I actually listen to the whole album, it's just that much more special. I don't know if I'm the best songwriter in the world, but I had a lot of fun doing it and hopefully I will get better and grow."

Spears obviously didn't write "I Love Rock 'n Roll," the Arrows song Joan Jett and the Blackhearts turned into a hit in 1981, but it was Spears' idea to cover the song with R&B producer Rodney Jerkins.

The singer needed to sing a popular song for a karaoke scene in her upcoming movie debut, "Crossroads".

"I actually sing it all the time for karaoke, so it made sense," Spears said while munching on potato chips. "I wanted Rodney to come in and redo the song. It's a very girl-power song."

Aside from Jerkins, who produced Spears' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction)" cover and other tracks on her prior album, Spears also worked with the Neptunes on Britney.

"I was inspired by a lot of hip-hop and R&B while I was on my last tour," Spears said. "I was inspired by Jay-Z and the Neptunes. I told Jive I really wanted to work with [the Neptunes]. I wanted to make [Britney] nastier and funkier."

The hip-hop duo produced "I'm a Slave 4 U" and "Boys." Spears said the first song she recorded with them, though, was a ballad that will likely appear on her next album.

Britney's "nastier" sound, which doesn't exceed a few "damns," prompted some critics to wonder if Spears may be outgrowing her audience.

"It's not my intention to leave my young fans. I just want an older generation to pick up on it as well," she responded. "I couldn't do ... Baby One More Time number three. I had to change it up and pray people think that's cool." — Corey Moss

Britney Preparing For New Album, Tour
from BillBoard.com: Britney Spears says she has fully recovered from the flu that forced her to restructure the North American tour in support of her third Jive album, "Britney," due Nov. 6. As previously reported, the trek will now kick off Halloween night in Washington, D.C.

Spears told journalists during a teleconference today (Oct. 24) to expect a highly "theatrical" show, adding that she wants fans to "to see me in a different light than they've ever seen me in before. I really think they'll come to the show and get a really good idea of who I really am. The main thing is for people to leave feeling inspired."

One stage prop that won't be in use, however, is the giant snake Spears draped around her shoulders during her recent performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. "There's not going to be animals on this tour," the 19-year-old artist said with a laugh. "I'm already doing enough crazy stuff. I was going through the run through yesterday doing all my stuff, and I was like, by the time I'm 30, there's not going to be anything left for me to do." The tour's Nov. 18 show in Las Vegas will be broadcast live on HBO.

Spears credited production duo the Neptunes with helping to push her music into more mature and experimental territory on "Britney." Although first single "I'm a Slave 4 U" prominently bears the Neptunes' off-center creative stamp, the artist says the first track she put to tape with the pair was actually a "beautiful ballad" that will probably appear on her next album.

Spears said she is already looking ahead to future recordings, and hopes that boyfriend Justin Timberlake of 'N Sync will be a major collaborator. Timberlake and Wade Robson co-wrote the "Britney" album track "What It's Like To Be Me."

"He's a busy body himself, so I try not to bother him too much with the stuff that I do," she said. "But his opinion means everything to me. He really didn't have that much input on this record, but definitely on the next one hopefully he'll have a lot more."

Spears added that she isn't sure if there will be a soundtrack to her film debut, "Crossroads," which is due to hit U.S. theaters on Feb. 15. The film will feature her covering Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll" in a karoake scene; the track also appears on "Britney."

Britney Unwrapped At MTV.com
Britney Spears' fans wait no longer! MTV.com's new advanced CD sales program ``Unwrapped'' will give online fans the chance to pre-order and experience Britney Spears' new album ``Britney'' before it is available in stores on November 6th. Beginning today, fans can log on to MTV.com to pre-order Britney's new CD and listen to the album in its entirety -- two weeks before it's available in stores. Britney fans who pre-order the album through MTV.com's ``Unwrapped'' program will have access to all of the album's artwork, liner notes and exclusive interviews plus free shipping. A physical copy of the ``Britney'' CD will be sent to their mailboxes on November 6th, the day of the album's official release. Britney Spears has sold tens of millions of albums, hundreds of thousands of videos and DVDs and millions of singles in her relatively short career and her latest album is set to follow that pattern. Enormous sales, however, are only half of the Britney story. Countless awards and nominations, music videos and commercials, wildly successful tours and her all new endeavor into film are all part of her multi-faceted success story. In February 2002, Britney's first feature length film, Crossroads will be released on MTV Films/Paramount Pictures. All early indications are that Britney's film debut will make as much impact as her musical debut did just a few short years ago. MTV.com's new CD sale service ``Unwrapped'' gives MTV fans advance access to the latest music from their favorite MTV artists. Britney Spears is the first female artist to participate in the MTV.com ``Unwrapped'' program, which bowed earlier this month with the debut of Lenny Kravitz's new album, ``Lenny.'' Valley Media will provide fulfillment of Britney Spears' ``Britney'' for the MTV.com ``Unwrapped.''

Madonna Daughter Starstruck By Britney Encounter
Ananova reported that Madonna's daughter Lourdes went into hiding when she was about to meet her own chart idol Britney Spears. The five-year-old hid behind her nanny because she was so nervous about being introduced to Spears, currently in the charts with I'm A Slave 4 U. But 19-year-old Spears told Star: The Celebrity Magazine that she was similarly struck with fear when she met up with Madonna herself just moments later. She said: "I'm usually so cool when I meet people, but once I was walking into the room I just felt something come over me and I was so nervous. "So I walked in - I'm so embarrassed at what I said, I said, 'I feel like I should hug you'. Afterwards I was like, 'eeeuw, why did I say that?'. "She probably thinks I'm the biggest dork in the world." Lourdes - who her mum has previously said believes it is normal to have famous parents - accompanied Madonna to the meeting, but went silent when she saw the Baby One More Time singer.Spears explained: "Her nanny said that she normally talks a lot, but she was being really quiet and shy. "She looked at her nanny and said, 'Tell her, will you? Just tell her'. And the nanny was like, 'Tell her what?', and she went, 'Tell her that I have all the watches and all of her Barbie's and stuff. "I thought it was so sweet - she was hiding behind her nanny the whole time."

Britney Goes to A Stripshow
RUMOR: PeopleNews reported that Britney Spears certainly seems to be casting off what remains of her innocent image. The teenage tearaway was recently spotted taking in a stripshow at the Granville nightclub in Los Angeles alongside her boyfriend, Justin Timberlake. Wearing a dead trendy midriff-revealing top, jeans and a cowboy hat, Britney and her squeeze took a few tipples in the VIP lounge, surrounded by a dozen bodyguards. According to eagle-eyed observers, Britney was open-mouthed at some of the contortions from the girls on the dancefloor, but learned so much from the show that by the end of the evening she was treating an appreciative Justin to her own interpretation of what she'd seen. Lucky boy.

Britney Scares Off Wild Pigs
Ananova reported that German farmers have been scaring off a plague of wild boars by playing Britney Spears records. The pigs can't be shot because they're a protected species. Farmer Herrmann-Josef Becker decided music was the only way to drive them away. He told the Daily Record: "Madonna didn't work too well, Robbie Williams was a dead loss but they can't stand Britney Spears. "When I switch on Oops!...I Did It Again, or I'm Not That Innocent, the pigs come snorting out and running for the woods." Other farmers near the city of Trier are now using Britney to keep the pigs off their crops. Germany has recently been hit by an explosion of wild pigs, which has driven the animals into human areas.

'Britney' Leaked Over The Internet
It seems that Britney Spears fans are too eager to wait for her 3rd upcoming album 'Britney' to be released November 5/6th. Quite a few songs and song clips have already been leaked over the internet. These leaks have occurred slowly over the last few weeks and more recently the last couple days. Songs that have been leaked in their entirety include Overprotected, Lonely, I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman, Boys, Anticipating, I Love Rock 'n' Roll, Cinderella, Let Me Be, Bombastic Love, That's Where You Take Me, What It's Like To Be Me, and her latest single I'm A Slave 4 U. Also Intimidated, from the Jimmy Neutron-Boy Genius Soundtrack.

The leaks of the new album are appearing on several Personal FTP sites. Rumors are that a mp3 releasing group called EGO were the first to release these clips and a mp3 site took some of its slack after high demand from most fans. Several advance copies of the album are known to exist and are in limited circulation.

BritneySpears.org will not post any of these leaked songs for public download or provide any information as to where you can obtain these leaked songs. Please do not e-mail us about it. However, the songs are in heavy rotation with the Britney fan community -- if you look hard enough you'll most likely find what you're looking for.

Britney Searches For Freedom, Autonomy And Nasty Boys
An MTV Review: Britney Spears picked the perfect title for her latest endeavor. Her third album is Britney all the way.

Armed with a cavalry of topnotch producers and songwriters, Spears continues on her mission to set herself free and prove once and for all that she really is not that innocent. "I'm so fed up with people telling me what to do," she sings on "Overprotected," the album's second track.

Though the Neptunes gave her an adventurous tune with the first single, "I'm a Slave 4 U," the rest of the album lingers in the teen queen's comfort zone, edging intermittently into riskier territory.

Spears' collaborations with trance star/pop producer BT, who made 'NSYNC sound like the coolest group in the year 2010, did not make the record, though "What It's Like to Be Me," which was written and produced by 'NSYNC's Justin Timberlake and choreographer Wade Robson, is similarly experimental with electronics (see "Britney Was 'Nervous' Recording With Justin").

After Spears and Timberlake trade lines that expand out of Timberlake's opening question, "Do you even know what I like?," the song takes off to a splatter of sound effects over a pulsating beat. Later, "What It's Like to Be Me" breaks into a beat-boxing interlude layered with the couple's a cappella harmonizing.

After giving "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" an R&B feel on 2000's Oops! ... I Did It Again, the team of Spears and producer Rodney Jerkins stick mostly to the original — or, at least, Joan Jett's famous cover — with "I Love Rock 'N' Roll." By holding on to a few of the words a little longer and releasing them with husky breaths, Spears manages to sound just as sexy as Jett when she brought the tune to the top of the charts in 1982.

Spears' version rides entirely on its infectious beat. She opts to belt out "I love rock 'n' roll 'cause it soothes the soul," during the guitar solo, while her "yeah me" parts are echoed by shouts not unlike those of a "TRL" crowd.

"I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," co-written by Dido and producers Max Martin and Rami, is Britney's sole ballad, and instead of going the relationship route, Britney tackles the subject of feeling coddled. "There is no need to protect me," she sings at one point. The chorus repeats the song's title along with the line, "All I need is time, a moment that is mine."

Spears visits that same topic on several songs, especially (but not surprisingly) the Martin and Rami-produced "Overprotected." "What am I do with my life?" she asks in the chorus. "How am I supposed to know what's right?/ I can't help the feeling/ But my life has been so overprotected."

She does change pace on "Boys," a funky number that finds Spears falling for a guy at a club. "I spotted you dancing/ You made all the girls stare," she sings. "Your lips and brown eyes/ And your sexy hair." The song, produced by the Neptunes, pays homage to Janet Jackson by putting effects on Spears' voice when she says, "Nasty boys."

Spears will support Britney, which features five songs co-written by the singer, on a fall tour that will kick off October 31 in Washington, D.C. -- Corey Moss

Britney Is Not Trying To Be A R&B Singer
WENN reported that BRITNEY SPEARS loves R&B but is not attempting to copy DESTINY'S CHILD and ALICIA KEYS by enlisting the help of top soul producers. The sexy singer is hurt by music critics comments that she is trying to jump on the R&B bandwagon, which is a regular feature of the charts in Europe and America. Britney says, "No I don't think I am doing that. "I think I sing better to a little bit of R&B beats because it's more soulful and my voice is changing so I feel comfortable singing those kind of songs. "But I would never be a hardcore R&B artist because I love to dance."

I DID IT AGAIN superstar says that despite her own raunchy stage and screen moves, she hates watching her 'N SYNC lover getting friendly with someone else in his music videos. She says, "I personally don't like it, seeing him do things like that. "I prefer not to watch. He doesn't like seeing me do it either but it's part of what we do. Artistically it brings the video to life." The teen sensation wasn't amused to hear the curly haired hunk was singing seductively to a beautiful girl in the boys' new track GONE. However Britney should be prepared for Justin's jealously - the video for her latest song I'M A SLAVE 4 U will prove to be her raunchiest yet - the pop princess will wear a saucy g-string while being touched and kissed by a group of male models.

Grace Jones Turned Down Britney
WENN reported that Grace Jones turned down a chance to appear with BRITNEY SPEARS at last month's MTV VIDEO AWARDS - because she saw it as a step backwards. The PULL UP TO THE BUMPER star had been pencilled in to share the stage with sexy Britney, but was far from impressed with the singer's decision to perform with big cats. Jones says, "I decided not to go that way because I would have been repeating myself; I've already done the tiger-in-the-cage stuff they were planning." She adds, "I like to keep myself out there, but be careful and not take everything that's thrown at me."

Fake Britney Article on CNN.com An Experiment
InternetNews reported that a morbid cultural experiment conducted by a tech-savvy prankster yielded the most hits for the eye-popping fake headline, "Singer Britney Spears Killed in Car Accident," on CNN.com over the weekend. News of the hoax, which received more than 150,000 hits over a 12-hour period. The trickery was perpetrated by one Tim Fries, a Saginaw, Mich.-based online comic strip artist, who said he was conducting research as to how far and fast misleading information travels on the Web. He basically tested the public's trust in the Internet for finding breaking news, a particularly poignant matter in light of what is going on with respect to America's war on terrorism. "With the recent terrorist attacks and such an increasing reliance on the Internet as a trusted news source, misinformation could prove to be a powerful weapon," Fries, who has removed the parody page from the Internet, told Newsbytes.com. So, how did he do it? Fries used a mock-up of a CNN.com Web page at an external site and exploited a peculiarity in how Web browsers handle URLs. Fries launched the Spears death hoax by distributing a specially crafted URL to three users of AOL's Instant Messenger chat software.

Michael Jackson Tribute Exciting For Britney
WENN reported that Britney found performing at Michael Jackson's recent 30th anniversary concert the most exciting thing she has ever done. Britney originally feared she may not be allowed to sing at the concert because it was being broadcast by a rival television station to the one she is contracted to. But in the end she was allowed to sing, but her performance was not broadcast. She says, "I was really upset when I heard that I might not be able to do it, so when it transpired that there was a way round the problem I was totally over the moon." Jackson called Britney personally to invite her to the show. She recalls, "When he called I was like, 'Who is this?' At the show he was really friendly and complimented me on my music, which was the best compliment anyone could ever have. "I think performing with Michael has been the best thing in my career so far."

Jive's Open Letter To Britney Fansites
Jive just replaced their tour page on Britney.com with the following notice to all Britney Fansites:

Jive Records has made plans with several of our online partners to bring you a first listen of Britney starting next week. Unfortunately, some very selfish individuals, who claim to be Britney fans, illegally helped themselves to the new album, against Britney's wishes. These streams were not leaked by Jive. They were stolen. Under the circumstances of recent weeks, we find this behavior particularly shameful. We want to remind those that are "sharing" this music that they are breaking laws. Britney appreciates all of her fans including those with fan websites, but real Britney fans understand that Britney owns her music and can choose to share it as she pleases. While we're very disappointed, we are still going ahead with our plans and will tell you how you can hear the album the way Britney wanted you to beginning next week.

Thanks to Toomuchinfomashn for sending us the link.

Stolen Spears Tape Called 'Boring'
Associated Press reported that Police said there was nothing scandalous on a tape stolen from the couple's Destin vacation home last month. "The tapes were very boring," said Okaloosa County sheriff's spokesman Rick Hord. Deputies who viewed the video said it contained ordinary vacation scenes and that Britney is not in it for very long, Hord said. It includes footage taped inside a car while driving through Alabama, some shots of the house the couple and their families rented in this Gulf Coast resort city and scenes of people playing on the beach, he said. Four teen-agers who broke into the house on Sept. 22 took the tape, and a suspect reportedly was copying it when sheriff's deputies arrested him. "The copy was destroyed and the original was returned," Hord said. The tape is not in evidence, so it is not public record. Mayor Ken Beaird sent Britney flowers and a letter of apology, asking her to consider vacationing in Destin again. He hasn't gotten a response but said he doesn't expect one. "I just wanted them to know that that's not Destin, the way they were treated," Beaird said.

Stuff Magazine conducted and interview with actor Josh Harnett asked, "Who do you prefer Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera?" Here is the response from Josh:
SM: Who do you prefer Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera?
JH: Umm.. I think Britney is really beautiful and talented, and well so is Christina.
SM: Well who do you like more?
JH: Britney! I was approached a few days ago to do a movie with her. I think that would be a new experience but I have to see how her new movie is first.
SM: What if you don't like it?
JH: It isn't a matter of me liking or disliking it, Its a matter of her acting. I don't think there will be a big problem with her acting because she is already getting rave reviews.
SM: Would You ever date her?
JH: Yeah probably, she comes from a small town like me. Me and her probably have lots in common, but I think she has a boyfriend
SM: Yeah she does, Justin Timberlake from *NSYNC
JH: Oh too bad

Britney Not To End Up Like Mariah
Britney told the Daily Record that she doesn't want to end up like Mariah Carey. She says she's determined not to believe all the hype that surrounds her, and thinks Mariah is the perfect example of a pop star who believed her own hype and ended up in a hospital after suffering a breakdown. "Mariah had a lot of people probably hyping her up and she believed her own hype. I think that sometimes stars start believing they are a goddess or that they are this god-like figure." Also adding "First of all, I had a really long break before this promotion, because it's a big thing. Mariah had a really long break, too, but I think that some people make their careers their lives." Britney insists she intends to keep her feet firmly on the ground: "When I'm on stage and I'm singing, that's my time to perform and be an actress. But when I'm off stage, I'm just like everybody else. "You need to separate your career and your life. This is not my life, this doesn't mean everything to me." "Some stars feel the pressure and it's all they think about. You can't do that - that's what drives them crazy."

Justin Shocked!
http://webcenters.compuserve.com/compuserve/news/story.jsp?floc=FF-PLS-PLS&id=60211649&dt=20011003080900&w=OTC&coview= " target="new">WENN repored that Justin was deeply shocked by Britney's sexy antics at last month's appearance at the MTV Awards. During her performance she performed an outrageous dance routine with a huge snake draped round her body. And her equally provocative performance in the new video for her single "I'm A Slave 4 U" has also come as a surprise to Justin. Nevertheless, Britney maintains that their relationship is under no threat since it's all just a professional act. She explains, "He was a little shocked at first because he wasn't expecting that. But at the end of the day he's had to do the same thing before and he knows that it doesn't mean anything." She adds, "I don't feel any pressure to be sexy. I just want to be myself -I don't want to be a boring adult. "When I'm on stage or doing a video, being sexy or whatever, that's cool, I'm just playing a part. "But I'm such a dork. Seriously, I don't see myself as that at all."

Billboard Review of "I'm A Slave 4 U"
BRITNEY SPEARS
``I'm a Slave 4 U'' -- Jive Records

The problem with establishing yourself as pop music's virginal kewpie doll is that there comes a time when you grow up and have to make a dramatic about-face, leading to statements like, ``All the people look at me like I'm a little girl/Well did you ever think it'd be OK if I want to step into this world,'' or even dropping adult phrases like ``What the hell.'' Lead single from Britney Spears' impending ``Britney'' set, ``I'm a Slave 4 U,'' serves as her take on Madonna's ``Erotica''; at first, it's such a radical step that it raises suspicions of being more of a gimmick than a stepping stone to musical maturity. But with repeated listens, the Neptunes-produced/-written track has a way of seducing, of becoming a true guilty pleasure, until her chants of ``kitty, kitty'' and the background groans become just plain entertaining. Singing along to a tribal beat box and Prince-inspired rhythms, her ``Slave'' is no more of an artistic triumph than was 'N Sync's recent ``Pop.'' But like that song, it needed to happen so that Spears can spread her wings and not simply recycle herself to death. With ``Slave,'' the artist seems to have mastered her transition to womanhood. source | read a review of the album here

FTC Shuts 41 Britney Spears Domain Variations
Yahoo reported that a U.S. court has shut down thousands of Web sites that diverted Web surfers from intended destinations and bombarded them with ads for adult and gambling, the U.S. government said on Monday. But officials at the Federal Trade Commission said at a news conference that many of the sites were up and running again. According to a motion filed by the FTC last week, John Zuccarini, of Andalusia, Pennsylvania, outside Philadelphia, owned more than 5,500 Internet domain names that diverted Web surfers from their intended destinations and exposed them to pop-up ads. Zuccarini did not return calls seeking comment. According to the FTC, Zuccarini registered thousands of misspellings and variations of popular sites such as www.cartoonnetwork.com, in a bid to draw traffic from sloppy typists and those not sure of an exact address. Zuccarini had registered 41 variations on the name of pop star Britney Spears, the FTC said.
