This week Christina Aguilera (#10) trying to revive her career with her sexy new persona, surpasses Britney Spears (#12) in Internet searches for the first time ever. Other than the month after September 11, this is the only time in The Lycos 50 history that Britney has dropped out of the top ten,and with Ulrika Jonsson at #7, this is the first week in The Lycos 50 history that Britney Spears does not rank as one of the top two women online.

Britney Inspires Movie, "Ceramic Life"
Yahoo reported that Tyro helmer Franc Reyes is back in business with Universal, this time with a new pitch called "Ceramic Life" whic the studio snapped up preemptively Monday.

Reyes most recently helmed John Leguizamo (news) starrer "Empire" -- the first release to come from Universal's newly formed Latin specialty label Arenas -- which the studio has just moved up from a February to a Dec. 6 release.

"Ceramic Life" is a fatal attraction-like tale of what happens when an aging pop superstar is denied repeated sexual liaisons with a casual fan.

Reyes, in an interview with Daily Variety, said the idea came to him when he imagined "what it must be like for a pop star like Britney Spears (news), who relies on her six-pack (abs) as part of her appeal, to find herself at age 45."

Britney In London Last Thursday
The Sun Newspaper reported that BRITNEY SPEARS did a Del Boy when she jetted into London yesterday (Thursday) sporting a flat cap and sheepskin coat.

The pop princess is in the capital for a week to start writing songs for a new album.

Flanked by three minders, she was whisked through a Heathrow terminal and into a waiting limo.

But I reckon the singer was heading straight to Peckham to do a few dodgy deals, judging by her Derek Trotter-style get-up.

One onlooker said: “Britney is one of the world’s biggest stars, so it’s surprising to see her looking more like a market trader.”

Britney Spotted At The Palm Restaurant in West Hollywood
E! Online's Gossip section: Ted Casablanca's Awful Truth mentioned that Britney Spears was chowing on a meal of lobster bisque and mahi-mahi at the Palm Restaurant in West Hollywood. Joined by her beefy bod-guard, Big Rock, the bespectacled B.S. gabbed on her cell through most of the lunch. Clad in a white peasant see-through tank top (with nada underneath) and jeans, with a white corduroy cap over her blondie locks, Brit-babe was not feeling autograph friendly. Polite as can be, Big Rock turned down the two fortyish women who approached with the John Hancock request. And to boot, B.R. also picked up the bill. That guy just takes care of everything unappetizing, doesn't he?

Britney Spears' London Concert Heads To Pay-Per-View
CDNOW: allstar reported that Britney Spears might have been on "hiatus" this summer, but the fall is certainly filling up for the pop star.

TVN Entertainment announced Tuesday (Oct. 22) that it's the exclusive distributor for the Spears pay-per-view concert event, Britney Spears in Concert. The special, filmed Nov. 11, 2000 at London's Wembley Arena, will be available on Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. ET for $19.95 on PPV outlets iN Demand, DirecTV, Echostar, Viewer's Choice Canada, Bell ExpressVU, and Canall Indigo.

The special will likely coincide with the release of her book/DVD, Stages, which is due sometime just before her 21st birthday on Dec. 2. The book features photographs with family and friends, while the DVD features performance shots and backstage footage from her Dream Within a Dream.

Sorry For Lack Of Updates
I am sorry about the lack of updates here lately, as everyone most likely knows, I also own and run eFanGuide.com.

Last weekend, our main server crashed, so all week, I have been basically getting things organized including getting several new servers in place so that we can continue to grow. A new dedicated server is also on the way for britneyspears.org within a few weeks.

This weekend, I am going to spend working on getting efanguide and all the hosted sites back up online so there will be no updates till Monday. I promise starting this Monday, I am going to focus a lot more time on britneyspears.org with more updates and content!

Britney In The Pink
dotmusic reported that Britney Spears has hit back at Pink, after the US star made derogatory remarks about her pop rival.

She told Rolling Stone: "I heard that Pink said some really negative things about me. I met her, and she was really nice.

"She sent me flowers at my hotel room. And then next week she said something like, 'I don't think it's cool the way that she's like a puppet and she's really smiley and happy all the time."

But she added: "She's probably doing that to protect her whole gimmick thing. I respect that, but don't be a hypocrite and put me down when you're, like, performing with your belly showing, too. And the reason why I'm smiling is because I'm grateful.

"I'm not the type of person to walk around and be like, 'Shit, I'm the coolest girl.' I still think her music rocks. But the whole thing hurt my feelings. I felt like, 'I thought you liked me. You sent me flowers.'

Meanwhile, Britney has revealed the reason for her current career break, explaining that she is sick of seeing herself on TV.

She said: "I'm supposed to take six months off, but I probably won't. The whole point of me taking a break is to be out of the public eye and not see my face on TV, because I'm sick of myself.

"This is more of a spiritual thing for me. I want to not have my hair and makeup done all the time."

Britney Spears To Attend Usher's Masquerade Birthday Bash
LAUNCH reported that Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Usher will host a masquerade party on his birthday Monday (October 14) at the Highlands in Los Angeles. Britney Spears, Mya, DJ Quik, and the Wayans Brothers have already RSVP'd to help him celebrate turning 24 at the event, scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

Attendants are required to wear all black, and will receive a mask upon entering the party.

Usher's song "Can U Help Me" was Number 87 last week on Billboard's Hot R&B/Singles & Tracks chart.

Usher made his debut on the music scene in 1993 when his song "Call Me A Mack" appeared on the original soundtrack to the John Singleton (news) film Poetic Justice, which starred Janet Jackson (news) and Tupac. Usher released his self-titled debut the following year, but didn't reach stardom until issuing his 1997 album, My Way, which has been certified six times platinum. His current album, 8707, released in 2001, is quadruple platinum.

Bono, Petty, Britney Proclaim 'Elvis Lives'
Billboard reported that Bono, Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, Dave Matthews, and Britney Spears are among the artists scheduled to appear on the prime-time special "Elvis Lives," to air on NBC in late November or early December. The hour-long show will feature commentary and performances that pay tribute to the legacy of Elvis Presley.

The special is the latest marketing move designed to tie into RCA's "ELV1S 30 #1 Hits," and will attempt to drive holiday says of the album. The set is No. 1 on The Billboard 200 for a second-straight week, having sold 837,000 units since its release. The show will feature four performances of Presley classics.

Also slated to appear on the special are Denis Leary, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Dennis Hopper, and Public Enemy's Chuck D, who turned heads when he rapped "Elvis was a hero to most, but he never meant s*** to me" on his group's 1990 hit "Fight the Power." More guests will be announced in the future.

The program will intersperse new material with historic footage of Presley's performances, as well as recent coverage commemorating the 25th anniversary of his death.

We were lucky this summer. We were able to avoid the Louisiana heat. Jamie Lynn and I left before it was really hot, and now has made it back to her regular school after the real heat was over. Los Angeles summers are the best!

Now, we are happily anticipating fall weather. We are ready for hot chocolate and a cozy fireplace. Britney has already bought a few sweaters. Believe or not, it can be really cold here in Louisiana. Last year was a cold winter for us.

Britney will be in New York a lot this fall. She is recording now. She is in no hurry and is able to enjoy the process more than her fast-paced schedule allowed before. There are several songwriters and producers she is planning to work with. Brit will also be working on her New York apartment, trying to put everything together. It’s nice to know that I don’t have to do any of the legwork for this particular project – she’s doing it all herself. It should be decorated completely including a Christmas tree by the time I see it. We shall see!

Britney has also been busy with her charities. Friday night she had a project with the Robin Hood Foundation. She recently had some business in the New Orleans area pertaining to her charities, but it was pushed back because of the back to back hurricanes.

Speaking of hurricanes, we’ve had more than our fair share of them. Jamie Lynn and I missed the first hurricane, but we were here for the second, Lili. Luckily, we only had a few strong winds and a lot of water. The house looked as though it had a moat around it! Life is finally getting back to normal for us. Then again, some would never call our lives “normal,” I suppose.

Now that the family is home, we are all happy and starting to get back into the routine of things here.

Nyla Cited By New York City Department of Health
The Smoking Gun reported that in a shocking development, a health examination has determined that Britney Spears's cans are dented. No, not those cans. The pop star's Manhattan restaurant, Nyla, was recently cited by the New York City Department of Health for twice violating guidelines prohibiting "swollen, leaking, rusted, severely rusted" canned food. Turns out Britney's luscious tomatoes were dented, according to this report detailing the results of a August 14 inspection. Spears's East 41st Street eatery, incorporated as Pinkey Enterprises, was also cited for failing to display the required Food Protection Certificate and for placing fruit in a bottle of Johnnie Walker--while tasty, inspectors considered the booze to have been "contaminated" by the fruit.

Britney Spears Aims for a Second Act, as an Adult
New York Times reported that Britney Spears, the pop star who brought sizzle to the schoolyard with glitter T-shirts and short shorts, strode onto a Milan runway last Tuesday evening in a $23,000 rainbow-spangled gown by Donatella Versace.

Ms. Spears, who turns 21 on Dec. 2, was flaunting her inner grown-up, turning to the makeover queen of couture for a quick fix. "She wanted something sophisticated and glamorous," Ms. Versace said.

It was the culmination of Ms. Spears's two-month intermission from work, ostensibly to relax but in reality to begin the process of refashioning herself for a new career. It will take more than one body-hugging dress and some nude chiffon to do the job.

Ms. Spears, who made her debut as a wholesome bubblegum star with a penchant for sweetly flashing her belly button, is caught in a vicious conundrum of fame acquired young: the qualities that made her accessible and popular as a teenage star may be precisely the ones choking her career as an adult, leaving her looking like an unseemly parody as she tries to become a grown-up recording artist.

After her appearance in leather regalia at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, Steven Cojocaru, a fashion critic for People magazine, wrote, "Was Spears planning on doing a Village People tribute?"

Ms. Versace, who says she has known Ms. Spears for two years, said: "She understands that she has to change. We had a long discussion about it."

The movement she led, said Craig Marks, the editor of Blender, the music magazine, is "very five minutes ago."

"She needs to come back with a new second act," he said.

Taryn Manning's High Praise For Britney
TeenHollywood.com reported that "Crossroads" star Taryn Manning has nothing but praise for her co-star Britney Spears. The actress struck up a friendship with Spears on the set of this year's road movie, and was amazed by her natural talent.

She says, "It was really cool. The biggest surprise was that she could actually sing. In real life she has a beautiful voice."

"I don't understand why people don't like her. She's got a great edge to her too. She's like, 'I'm not perfect. Accept it.' I think that's great."

Manning also says that Britney's schedule makes it hard to spend time with her.

She says, "We hung out every day when we filmed and a little bit after we worked. She's really busy though, so you can't just pick her up and go out for lunch."

"You have to plan it in advance and organise a bodyguard to come along too. It's a bit of an ordeal".

Britney Spears Dating Nick Carter?
KISS 108 reported: It seems that singer Britney Spears has finally found love after her split from 'NSYNC's Justin Timberlake - Backstreet Boys hunk Nick Carter.

According to sources, the 20-year-old "Boys" beauty has struck up a relationship with Carter, who is the youngest member of his band - as is chart rival Timberlake.

Timberlake, 21, and 22-year-old Carter have also recently embarked on solo projects.

Sources say that Britney and Carter "met up at a few places in Los Angeles and New York" over the past few weeks, including one night in LA when they "went out to eat and back to Brit's home".

Although Spears' spokeswoman, who also represents Carter, denied the date, a source close to the blonde singer tells American magazine US Weekly that they've had a few dates and to "not be shocked to hear they're more than just friends".

Ryan Fires Back at Britney
KISS 108 reported that rocker Ryan Adams has written a new song called "Boys," which he insists is his response to Britney Spears' hit of the same name.

Adams says he's sick of songs that criticize modern men and portray them as chauvinistic monsters.

He explains, "I wanted to write a song in defense of men. There are romantics who don't think about panty lines and don't talk s**t about women.

"Just because Britney can't find one doesn't mean that I'm supposed to be chastised for it."

Britney Plans Return to Recording After Italy Break
Reuters reported that Britney Spears, the U.S. pop idol who is taking a six-month sabbatical at the tender age of 20, said on Tuesday she planned to return to the recording studio after a break hosted by Italian designer Donatella Versace.

"I think I may just go to Los Angeles and record a little bit. But other than that I just plan to hang out," Spears told Reuters before taking her seat in the front row of Versace's spring/summer 2003 fashion show.

"It's like a dream come true being here right now," said Spears, who in August decided to take six months off after a giddy four years of fame.

She first hit the charts in 1998 with "Baby one more time," then shot to success with three top-selling albums, several magazine covers and an advertising deal all by the age of 20.

Versace said her new outfits were inspired by Spears' all-singing, all-dancing, all-acting success, but that the girl who first shot to fame in school uniforms needed a break.

"She needs a vacation. She's worked so so hard for so many years. She's a young girl and she's a little tired," said Versace, lounging on a black sofa next to the singing sensation.

Earlier Spears, who famously vowed to remain a virgin until her wedding night and has been the center of has-she-hasn't-she speculation ever since, posed for photographers in a sequined dress translucent enough to show every curve of her bottom.

"My clothes are very young and rock and roll -- Britney things," Versace said, dressed head-to-toe in black.

"I'm incredibly flattered," the blonde singer gushed in reply. "You are so sweet! You let me into her home and you're so nice!"

Britney Leaves Them Hanging at Ronald McDonald House
KISS 108 in Boston reported that Britney Spears intended her visit to a hostel for young cancer victims in New York City as a gesture of kindness, but it didn't turn out that way, and that has left some of the patients and their caregivers upset, according to the New York Post.

Spears was scheduled late last week to make a quiet visit to the Ronald McDonald House, where she was told to expect six to ten young cancer patients. However, by the time she arrived, the word had spread around the facility about her visit, and a number of patients changed schedules, rearranged treatment sessions and did anything they could to be on hand for the famous singer's visit.

When Spears arrived for a short visit, she was faced with many more patients, staff and members of the children's families than expected. "When she walked in, there were 60 kids there with their parents," a spokeswoman for the facility told The Post. "Some of the kids had talked their doctors into rescheduling their chemotherapy."

Spears, accompanied by her sister, read to the group from the children's book "Clifford the Big Red Dog" but soon had to go. She left before she had time to have her picture taken with each of the children, leaving some of the young patients and their families very upset. "She left and they were crying," a volunteer told The Post. "You can't do that to sick children. They're not well, and she made it even worse."

A spokesman for Spears said that she felt bad but her time was limited: "She did the best that she could. She went there with the best of intentions...The kids had a fantastic time. They invited her back."

Austin Powers in Goldmember DVD Release on December 3rd
As you know, Britney has a cameo role in the smash hit Austin Powers in Goldmember. The movie is scheduled to come out on video and DVD December 3rd, 2002. The special features should include the video Boys (Co-Ed Remix).
