Britney Has The Flu |

E! Online reported that Britney is sick with the flu and has a severe throat infection.
Figures. You run around sans shirt--or pants--too much and you're bound to catch a cold.
Just ask Britney Spears. The Oops girl, who has of late taken off her top for photo spreads in Rolling Stone and the Brit version of Elle and her bottom for an Esquire shoot, has come down with a bad bug.
A statement issued Thursday by her label, Jive Records, says Spears has been ordered to bed rest as a result of the flu and "a severe throat infection." Said malady will prevent her from performing a planned club date in France Thursday night.
Spears has been abroad for a mini-Euro tour to promote her upcoming CD, In the Zone, which is due out November 18. A publicist for the thongbird says Spears' pipes should be healed in a few days, allowing her to resume her two-and-a-half-week jaunt with stops in Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain and then back to France.
Britney better keep up with her vitamins if she wants to make it hitch-free through her upcoming monster North American tour this spring.
According to Billboard, Spears will launch the tour March 3 in an as-yet undetermined city. She will play 56 dates, favoring the West Coast, before wrapping things up in April. Then she gets a few months of rest before embarking on an outdoor amphitheater tour in July.
Spears fans who preorder In the Zone via britneyspears.com will be entered in a contest to win a trip to see Britney's tour.
Spears has been something of road warrior. Her 2002 tour grossed $30.3 million, according to concert-tracking trade Pollstar. (That tour infamously concluded in Mexico City, where the popster flipped off paparazzi and then bailed on her show after just five songs, blaming thunderstorms.)
It's been a rough couple of days for Britney. Not only is she ailing but her first single off In the Zone, the Madonna (news - web sites) duet "Me Against the Music," is currently struggling at 38 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart. If that weren't bad enough, she was just sued by her alleged stalker, who claims her bodyguards roughed him up and caused him "extreme emotional distress." |

Reuters/Billboard reported that Britney Spears' upcoming North American tour will kick off March 3 in a city yet to be announced.
The trek will encompass 56 dates and will largely visit the West Coast through April. A tour of outdoor amphitheaters will begin in mid-July.
The dates will come in support of Spears' upcoming album, "Get in the Zone," due Nov. 18 from Jive. First single "Me Against the Music" featuring Madonna (news - web sites) is currently No. 38 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart.
Spears grossed $43.7 million on her 2002 tour in support of the album "Britney." Fans who pre-order the upcoming album on her official Web site will be eligible to win a trip to see Spears on tour next year.

JamieLynn and I had the best surprise last week. Britney and Bryan showed up at the school for JamieLynn's last pep rally. JamieLynn ran off the court into the stands and was in Bryan and Brit's laps with major hugs and kisses for the both of them. JamieLynn was so unnerved, she became nervous and was scared to do her back hand spring that she's been doing effortlessly for a year or more now. When she teared up out there on the court, we all got really nervous!! She finally let go, did her thing and was all smiles once again.
Bryan and Britney were only able to stay for the afternoon. Their Daddy had shrimp and crabs cooked for them before their flight back to New York. They left from the airport near the school on private jet so that way they could take advantage of spending as much time as possible with us. The quick visit left us emotionally drained.
Once back in New York, Britney met up with her crew and flew on to London that evening. JamieLynn was so happy her sister and brother made it to one of her pep rallies. This is the busiest time ever for Britney so it really took a lot to make the trip.
Yesterday, Britney's video featuring Madonna was No.1 or TRL. Yeah!! Thanks for voting, Fans!! You're, as usual, the BEST!!!!!!! |

BBC reports The Japanese businessman who stalked Britney Spears and is suing her for emotional distress is now also suing the City of Los Angeles.
43 year-old Masahiko Shizawa is taking the legal action because he says a hotel search during the case took away his dignity.
Earlier this month, he was found guilty of stalking the singer and ordered to stay away from her.
Britney sought a restraining order against him in December 2002, saying he tried to contact her at two of her homes and her parents' house.
He moved back to Japan when his visa expired, but his lawyer says he's hoping to return to the US. |

Contact Music reports Pop babe BRITNEY SPEARS has stripped for a sexy photoshoot just days after vowing never to pose near-naked again.
The OOPS!...I DID IT AGAIN star appears in the November (03) issue of Britain's Q music magazine wearing nothing more than black leather knickers and a skimpy bra. It comes just days after she branded her saucy snaps for ESQUIRE magazine a mistake.
She said of the raunchy images in the men's publication, "I learned my lesson, and you won't see me like that for a while."
But shots of the singer in Q, featuring Britney looking seductively into the camera as she pulls the top of her underpants down with her thumbs, indicate she's now changed her stance on how to pose for spreads.
Meanwhile, sexy Spears delivered another attack on rocker FRED DURST, insisting he invented the story they enjoyed a brief fling.
She says, "It was a little bizarre because he came to my house one time and then he left. After that he continuously, almost every day, left a card in my mailbox.
"I was so stupid, so innocent, so naive and I thought everybody was great. Boy was I wrong." |

As we said it before, a 2004 tour has been confirmed. As reported earlier about the tour starting during the end of winter to the beginning of spring, the rehearsals for the tour will be taking place at that time. The tour will start in March. And just to make sure everyone knows that this isn't a rumor, this is what MTV had to say:
Britney Spears is gearing up for her upcoming tour. In August, she began auditioning dancers, and they're planning to start rehearsals in February in Los Angeles for a trek that will launch in March. There's already been a switch in choreographers — Jennifer Lopez's ex Cris Judd was first slated to shape Britney's dance moves, then Jamie King of "Dance Fever" stepped in. But now, according to a source close to the pop princess, King is out and Kevin Tanchareon (who co-choreographed the "Me Against the Music" video) will be keeping Spears in step. There's no name for the tour just yet, and dates have yet to be announced. |

E! Online reports: Following topless covers for Rolling Stone and Britain's Elle, and a bottomless shot for Esquire, Britney Spears is baring more than skin in the new issue of Newsweek. In the news mag, which hit stands Monday, the 21-year-old popster discusses her former fling with 'N Syncer Justin Timberlake, her ex-virgin status, a certain three-way smooch and the ups and downs of, well, you know, being famous.
"Justin said it on Barbara Walters," Spears told Newsweek of the public end of her virginal image. "The world knew after he told them all. What am I supposed to say, 'No, I didn't?' Can you say I'm a little bitter with men? Just a little." But, says the Britster, don't read too much into that lip-lock with Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards. She's definitely a slave 4 the opposite sex.
"It was really hard," Spears lamented. "There was a time when I was like, 'Okay, I'm over men. They're mean. Not like they weren't drawn to me, but there wasn't a single real attraction. I'm like, 'What's happening? I know I'm not a lesbian.' " (Britney did reveal just how much she idolized Madonna, though, saying, "I'd dance around in my short tops and sing and dream about being her.")
Spears says she's not currently seeing anyone, despite tabloid reports to the contrary linking her to a married back-up dancer.
The Lousiana-born entertainer also talked about her latest promotional blitz for the upcoming album In the Zone, including a surprise Las Vegas gig (in which she shed her top and performed in a red bra), those topless photo spreads and that jaw-dropping Esquire cover.
"I did feel kind of weird after those photos," said Spears regarding the shoot in which she wore nothing but a white sweater and high heels. "I had, like, eight Red Bulls and said, 'Okay, let's do it.' I learned my lesson, and you won't see me like that for a while. I'm kinda over it myself. Not that it's dirty or tacky, but it is really revealing and I wouldn't want my kid, at 21, to be dressing like that."
Speaking of kids, the former Mouseketeer said she was planning on having her own children and marrying the man of her dreams in, say, in about five years.
But when the conversation turned to Asian music that inspired In the Zone, the Oops Girl was out of her comfort zone.
"[I've] been into a lot of Indian spiritual religions," Spears told Newsweek.
When the magazine's correspondent asked if Hinduism might be one of them, the singer replied: "What's that? Is it like Kabbalah?"
Spears also responded to those critics--like Maryland's first lady Kendel Ehrlich, who reportedly said she'd like to "shoot" Spears--who have blasted her newfound naughtiness as a poor influence on the prepubescent set.
"Why? Why are they mad at me? Spears said. "Why are they not going at Christina [Aguilera]? Have they seen what she has on?...Beyoncé dresses provocatively. Why don't they say something about her? What is 'too sexy' to them?"
Then in a titillating footnote, the pop pixie noted that for her, sex and skin aren't exactly a big deal, considering her family let it all hang out when she was growing up.
"We walked around the house naked, we really did. By the time I was 13, my dad, was like, 'uh, Britney, it's time to start covering yourself up.' I'm very free like that," Spears admitted.
Okay, we get it. You're not that innocent.
In the Zone hits stores on November 18. |

The Sun reports: BRITNEY Spears has told how ex-lover Justin Timberlake left her so bitter she avoided men for SIX months.
Britney, 21, was furious when he boasted to the world on telly that he had taken her virginity.
And she said: “There was a time when I was like, ‘OK, I’m over men. They’re mean.’
“For six months not a single thing happened.”
The star, who kissed Madonna on stage at the MTV Awards, was left confused about her sexuality after her break-up with Justin, 22, last March.
Describing her lack of feelings for men, she told Newsweek magazine: “Not like they weren’t drawn to me, but there wasn’t a single real attraction.
“I’m like, ‘What’s happening? I know I’m not a lesbian’.”
Fuming Britney blasted NSYNC star Justin for talking about their sex life to US chat show queen Barbara Walters.
She stormed: “The world knew after he frickin’ told them all.
“What am I supposed to say, ‘No, I didn’t?’ Can you say I’m a little bitter with men? Just a little.”
She denied she was now dating married backing dancer Columbus Short, 21 — but admitted she longed to settle down and have children.
Interviewed on ITV1’s This Morning yesterday, she said she was thinking of moving to London because it is “so cool”.
And she had a tip for Pop Idol hopefuls hurt by nasty judge Simon Cowell’s putdowns.
She said: “Everyone has an opinion. Sometimes you’re not the greatest in the world. I’d take his advice and tell him to shove it.” |

Spears single lights up request lines
Monday October 27, 2003
Expect the new Britney Spears single “Me Against the Music” to take a healthy jump up the Billboard Hot 100 singles listing this week, as her collaboration with Madonna heats up Top 40 radio play lists.
Although the teen pop genre has cooled off considerably, the former teen-pop queen couldn’t be hotter, says KIIS-FM music director Julie Pilat. “It’s the No. 1 request at the station right now,” Pilat says. “The first day we got it, we played it every hour, and it’s been our No. 1 phone song since.”
Pilat says she’s heard other tracks from the Spears’ forthcoming “In The Zone” album, due November 18, and predicts that “Me Against the Music” won’t be the album’s only hit. “It’s going to be a great record for KIIS for a long time.”
“The collaboration of two artists of their stature made it an event record,” says Joe Riccitelli, Jive Records’ vice president of pop promotion. “The challenge was to get it past event status to the point where it would be considered a real legitimate single.”
Initial interest, in fact, could have been attributed to simple curiosity over pairing of two pop sex symbols or the fact that this is Spears’ first new single in two years. During that time, she has rarely been out of the news, from her busted romance with Justin Timberlake to myriad reports of her latest flames to her buzz-generating buss with Madonna on the recent MTV Video Music Awards show.
But instead of making a flurry of requests and then tapering off as radio started paying it, listeners have continued requesting the song. It has tallied the greatest increase in the number of plays on radio stations nationally for two weeks straight, according to the trade publication Radio & Records.
“It’s sort of undeniable having those two sing together,” says Jeff Pollack, one of the nation’s leading radio consultants. “Clearly, working with Madonna has helped significantly. When you have a big record on the radio that’s getting the kind of spins this one’s getting, it can’t help but have a positive impact on both. It’s been slow going for both artists recently. This is a way to heat things up.”
“Heat” being the operative word for the sweat-drenched video and lyric for a percolating dance number that brings Spears back from the realm of gossip columns to the world of pop music.
“A lot of people have been wondering whether her music career would be taking back a seat to being a celebrity,” says Pollack. “This puts her back in the game.”

Under-Fire Britney Says Why Pick on Me? |

Scotsman reports Pop diva Britney Spears today defended her racy image, saying “if you don’t like it, change the channel”.
Fed up with being told she is a bad role model for children the Oops ... I Did It Again singer asked: “Why are they mad at me?” But she said scantily-clad photo shoots were being put on hold for a while.
Britney, 21, also said she was “a little bitter” about men after her public break-up with Justin Timberlake.
The split hurt her so much she was not attracted to a single man for months, she said.
Britney’s latest critic was the wife of an American governor who said she would like to “shoot” the pop star because of the example her sexy videos set to children.
“Why are they not going at Christina (Aguilera)? Have they seen what she has on?” Britney said.
“Beyonce (Knowles) dresses provocatively. Why don’t they say something about her?” she told the November 4 edition of Newsweek magazine.
Britney said she achieved fame because of her childhood dreams including pretending to be Madonna in front of the television.
She said her stage shows and music videos were a “visual thing”.
“But don’t take it too literally. Just watch the performance, be drawn in. And if you don’t like it, change the channel,” she said.
But she admitted a recent near-naked picture of her on the front of a magazine went to far, saying it made her feel “kind of weird”.
“I learned my lesson and you won’t see me like that for a while... I wouldn’t want my kid, at 21, to be dressing like that,” she said.
After Britney’s split with Timberlake she said she decided that men were “mean”.
“For like six months, not a single thing happened.
“Not like they weren’t drawn to me, but there wasn’t a single real attraction. I’m like, ‘What’s happening? I know I’m not a lesbian’,” she said.
But she refused to talk about recent reports linking her with a married backing dancer, saying her personal life was “no-one’s business”. |

Five reports Singing starlet Britney Spears has told Pop Idol hopefuls how to deal with Simon Cowell's putdowns saying "Take his advice and tell him to shove it!"
Speaking on ITV1's This Morning, she said: "Everyone has an opinion. Sometimes you're not the greatest in the world.
"I would take his advice and whatever he said and tell him to shove it!"
Britney, 21, whose new single Me Against The Music is out next week, said she is a fan of the show which has also been a massive hit in the US.
"I think it's a cool thing, I think it's inspiring for kids. I think people watch that and it gives them hope. You see these kids, they're hungry and they're inspired and motivated," she said.
On rumours that she is planning to follow her idol Madonna's footsteps by moving to Britain, she said: "I went to London last week and it's so cool there. I'm thinking of moving there. It's really beautiful. I love it there."
And, like Madge, she has been practising her English accent and developing a passion for all things British - confessing to a love for fish and chips and Robbie Williams. |

Dot-com icon Jeff Arnold now pitches drink lids embedded with CDs
By CAROLINE WILBERT The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
At age 33, Jeff Arnold is starting over.
It's not because he's a failure. Quite the opposite. Arnold founded WebMD and became one of Atlanta's dot-com poster boys of the late '90s. He made a mountain of money -- so much he never has to work again.
But Arnold isn't wired for a life of leisure. He's a serial entrepreneur who wants to prove he can succeed again, and in any economy.
So last week he leaned over a conference table in his Buckhead office, pitching bankers on his new venture.
It's called LidRock. The company embeds CDs in the lids of soft drinks at movie theaters, convenience stores and fast-food restaurants. He's raised more than $20 million in outside funding and signed deals with everyone from Britney Spears to Regal Entertainment Group to Coca-Cola. He plans, he says without a trace of irony, to revolutionize the entertainment industry.

Another britney excerpt
quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He jumps to another deal. Starting next month, mall fast-food chain Sbarro will start a Britney Spears promotion. For 80 cents extra, consumers can get a drink with a mini-CD featuring Spears' newest single, a video of Spears and Madonna, and a coupon for $2 off Spears' entire album at Sam Goody. "That's awesome," one of the bankers says. "It is about controlling content and trying to make sure everyone benefits," Arnold says. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Newsweek: Bringing Up Britney |
|
|

at 10:47 AM | Discuss |

MSNBC Newsweek reports Britney Spears rips open a bag of extra-cheesy Doritos, dips one into a bowl of tuna salad, crunches loudly then wipes off the excess orange dust on the thighs of her hip-hugging jeans. “Sorry, I’m just stuffin’ my face here,” she says in a perky Louisiana accent, then jams another chip into her mouth. It’s one of the few breaks the performer gets today between rehearsing numbers for “Saturday Night Live,” posing for a magazine photo shoot and taping an upcoming Britney special for ABC. She takes a swig off her Pepsi (not Diet), then looks at her cracked, unpainted, stubby toenails. “I do need a pedicure, don’t I,” she says. But who cares—when the scantily clad, hip-gyrating, crotch-grabbing Spears hits the stage, no one in America but Britney’s choreographer will be concentrating on her feet.
Sex appeal is to Britney Spears what special effects are to “The Matrix.” Just last week Madame Tussaud’s unveiled a wax figure of the star—it doesn’t sing, but it straddles a pole and has inflatable breasts that heave to the music. Since she debuted as a pigtailed 16-year-old in 1998, the former Mouseketeer has morphed from a schoolgirl heartthrob to a lap-dance fantasy. And the music? Does it matter? Spears has sold more records in four years than Madonna has in the last decade. Though each Britney CD has sold fewer copies than the last, her celebrity stature continues to climb. She’s appearing bottomless on the cover of Esquire and shirtless in Las Vegas. Britney will always be bigger than the critics who hate her.
This latest round of overexposure (aimed at the postpubescent crowd this time) coincides with her fourth album, “In the Zone,” though it’s hard to say if anyone will notice the great soundtrack behind the perpetual peep show. The record—created by everyone from Moby to R. Kelly—is actually pretty amazing. Its beats are crisp and club-savvy, its production inspired. All that’s missing is the singer: Spears’s breathy voice and orgasmic groans are simply decoration.
OK, so Madonna can’t sing, either—and she might be Spears’s greatest role model. “I remember being in my living room and watching her on TV. I’d dance around in my short tops and sing and dream about being her.” But Spears isn’t quite Material Girl material. The 21-year-old icon is in an awkward phase—somewhere between a puppeteered kid act and savvy pop seductress. It’s hard to tell who, if anyone, is under all the shifting images. In person, the hunt doesn’t get much easier. Backstage in her “SNL” dressing room, a chatty Spears checks her makeup frequently in the large mirror. She is super-amped after sucking down a Starbucks Frappuccino, even bouncy in a pep-squad sort of way. She’d be annoying if she weren’t so sweet and hospitable. But all the caffeine doesn’t make her really talk. Britney avoids answering “tough” questions directly, bobbing and weaving like a politician. Q: Do you feel you have more control of your career now than when you were a Svengali-ed teen act? A: People talk about teen this or that, but in the end, it’s just pop music, which is popular music, and it can only get better. Q: What effect do you think your steamy performances are having on kids? A: It’s a visual thing. That’s why I’m here right now, because I dreamed of these moments. Kids need that. If they don’t dream, they have what? That’s what makes you feel spiritual, connected with God. But don’t take it too literally. Just watch the performance, be drawn in. And if you don’t like it, change the channel.
For better or worse, Spears got media training early on. When it pops up in otherwise casual conversation, it sounds like a beauty contestant’s rehearsed monologue: “I love children. My ultimate dream five years from now would be to have kids, have a husband.” The most unrehearsed moments are slightly sad—revealing a strangely cloistered kid who seems to have spent way too much time performing and not enough time living. When Spears talks about the South Asian musical influences on “In the Zone,” she says she’s “been into a lot of Indian spiritual religions.” When asked if one of them is Hinduism, she says, “What’s that? Is it like kabbalah?”
Spears entered her first talent show at the age of 6 and moved from Kentwood, La., to Orlando, Fla., when she became a Mouseketeer at 11. Along with such prefab creations as the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync, she was signed to Jive in 1996 and promoted ad nauseam by a grunge-weary MTV. The most titillating of the teen pack—a professed virgin who was dating the cutest guy in ‘N Sync—she outgrew the grade-school audience after her first album and lost them when the news broke that she had finally, you know, done it . “Justin said it on ‘Barbara Walters’,” says Spears. “The world knew after he frickin’ told them all. What am I supposed to say, ‘No, I didn’t’? Can you say I’m a little bitter with men? Just a little.”
Spears’s affair and breakup with Justin Timberlake was a tabloid event of Bennifer proportions. “It was really hard,” she says. “There was a time when I was like, ‘OK, I’m over men. They’re mean.’ For like six months, not a single thing happened. Not like they weren’t drawn to me, but there wasn’t a single real attraction. I’m like, ‘What’s happening? I know I’m not a lesbian’.” Now it’s reported that she’s hooked up with a married backup dancer. Spears says she’s not dating anyone. “My personal life is no one’s business,” she says. “But I can understand the infatuation. I mean, s—t, I’m a fan. Me with Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. I’m like, ‘Oh my God. They are so cute!’ ”
Not everyone thinks Britney’s so cute. Kendel Ehrlich, wife of Maryland’s governor, recently told an audience at a conference against domestic violence that she would shoot Spears if she had a gun. Many a mom in the audience applauded. “Why? Why are they mad at me?” Spears says, claiming not to know about the incident. It’s hard to tell if she’s actually this clueless or if she’s pulled the emergency rip cord labeled denial. “Why are they not going at Christina [Aguilera]? Have they seen what she has on? I know I’m acting like a 4-year-old right now, ‘Well, look at her!’ But Beyonce dresses provocatively. Why don’t they say something about her? What is too sexy to them? My family, we walked around the house naked, we really did. By the time I was 13, my dad was like, ‘Uh, Britney, it’s time to start covering yourself up.’ I’m very free like that.”
For Spears, freedom is sometimes just another word for nothing left to lose. At the “SNL” rehearsal, she finishes a frenetic dance number and plops down on the stage, her legs wide open to a crew of at least 30 people, mostly men. She appears oblivious to the effect she’s having. But is she really always this uncalculating? She, or the people around her, must be aware that her current push to be viewed as an adult is attracting a whole new kind of fan who can smirk at her music while leering at her body. Take that Esquire cover shoot. “I did feel kind of weird after those photos,” says Spears, sounding sheepish for the first time during the interview. “I was in a moment. I had, like, eight Red Bulls and said, ‘OK, let’s do it.’ I learned my lesson and you won’t see me like that for a while. I’m kinda over it myself. Not that it’s dirty or tacky, but it is really revealing and I wouldn’t want my kid, at 21, to be dressing like that.”
And she probably means it. She really is an all-American, Dorito-eating girl—or would like to be. But then she’d have to stop being Britney. |

Looks like a small last minute change to the album cover for "In The Zone" The original album cover we had came from Amazon.com, but looks like Britney's official fan club site and official pre-order site has a new image of the album cover. The album cover uses the same picture, but gets closer to her face and uses smaller text.
We are just going to assume, that this is the new album cover and is what we will see in stores. We are only a few weeks away from the November 18th release of her new album, "In The Zone"! |

Japanese Man Sues Britney for Distress |

Reuters reported that a Japanese businessman who was ordered to stay away from Britney Spears sued the pop star in Los Angeles federal court on Thursday, accusing her security guards of brandishing a gun at him and causing "extreme emotional distress."
Masahiko Shizawa, a 43-year-old software entrepreneur from Yokohama, says Spears' guards confronted him on a public street at gunpoint and demanded that he leave the area.
Shizawa seeks unspecified damages from Spears.
Representatives for Spears could not be reached for comment.
At an Oct. 7 hearing, a state judge ordered Shizawa not to contact the entertainer and to stay at least 300 yards from her for three years. According to testimony from that hearing, Shizawa was placed on the federal "no-fly list" as a potential threat to Spears.
In granting her request for a temporary restraining order, Judge Alan Haber determined that Shizawa "engaged in a pattern of harassment and stalking" Spears for more than a year.

Britney's New Album: Sexual |

|
Britney Album Preview: Sex, Sex And More Sex 10.22.2003 8:11 PM EDT The early buzz on the new Britney Spears album was that it would be adventurous, atmospheric and above all, adult. Two out of three ain't bad.
Sure, Britney has a bit of a trip-hop vibe on her upcoming album, just not enough to justify her love for her mentor Madonna's latter-day direction. In the Zone is by no means Britney's Ray of Light. Instead, Spears' fourth album jumps stylistically all over the place, from techno to hip-hop, even to reggae, with thumping, tribal dance songs being the predominant flavor, save for a touching ballad or two. The only thematic connection is the recurring topic of sex, sex and more sex. Oh, and some partying, too.
"Me Against the Music" aside, Spears sings that she's got the beat when she pairs up with the Ying Yang Twins who urge her to get crunk Atlanta-style on "(I Got That) Boom Boom." Not that she needs encouraging — Britney's dead-set on getting her groove on in party-hard songs like the bubbly "Brave New Girl," and partied-too-hard songs like the more brooding "Early Mornin'," which features a shimmering, percolating beat from Moby and subdued vocals from Spears (see "Britney Talks New Album But Remains Coy On First Single").
"Brave New Girl," formerly called "Brave Girl," on the other hand, is backed by choppy, electro-funk beats and features Britney singing in a bouncy near-rap: "She's going to find her passion, she's going to find her way, she's going to get right out of this/ She don't want New York, she don't want L.A., she's going to find that special kiss."
As innocent as that sounds, it's not just a kiss Britney wants on the rest of In the Zone, which she uses to unleash her libido in as many situations as she can dream up. In the beat-heavy R. Kelly booty-call track "Outrageous," she whispers and moans about "my sex drive" and how her underwear feels in her "sexy jeans" with a snake charmer melody giving the song an exotic feel. She continues to entice on the Bloodshy & Avant-produced "Showdown," which, with its bubbly beats, is about fighting and making up with carnal relations: "After the screaming's at an end/ Why don't we do it all again ... I don't want to be a tease/ Would you undo my zipper please?"
Not all the sex is good sex, though. "Toxic" bemoans being addicted to men who aren’t good for you — like, oh, say, married men? But even less than desirable situations can provide good memories, as in the Matrix collaboration "Shadow," which talks about how reminders of a lover can still linger after he’s gone. The same effect exists in "Everytime," the ballad Spears previewed on "Saturday Night Live," but to a more haunting end since the lovers have parted for good.
Even if the lovers never touch, as in "Breathe on Me," the narrator's desire fills the air (see "Britney Gets 'Just A Little Freaky' On In The Zone"). Of the songs on In the Zone,"Breathe on Me" most earns the trip-hop comparisons, and despite not being as overtly sexual, it's the most sensual: "Oh, it's so hot, and I need some air/ And boy, don't stop 'cause I'm halfway there … just put your lips together and blow."
A girl can only take so much unfettered frustration, so Britney shows herself a little love on "Touch of My Hand," which also features a Far East influence: "I will be bold/ Going to the places where I can be out of control/ Don't want to explain tonight/ All the things I try to hide."
By contrast, "Everytime" is her most innocent, and perhaps her most personal, song on In the Zone. Though she's denied having a response to Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River," the lilting piano-accompanied tune comes closest to a plea for forgiveness for inadvertently hurting a former lover. In the song she sings, "What have I done? … I may have made it rain/ Please forgive me/ My weakness caused you pain" (see "Britney Previews LP, Denies Rumors Of 'Cry Me A River' Response").
Through it all, Spears is as self-referential as many hip-hop artists, getting her featured guests to give her shout-outs and dropping pop- star tidbits as if they were come-ons. The reference to "my world tour" on "Outrageous" is moaned with the same ecstasy as "my sex drive," and the cumulative effect seems like it's designed to put the listener in the lover's shoes — taking full advantage of the aural male gaze. If the technique works, In the Zone will make the most of Spears' latest maneuverings to graduate from pop princess to pop pin-up. The other possibility is that she's just dropping a litany of diary-like entries. Regardless, this is her life, she seems to be singing, and criticism be damned — sex is gonna be in the mix.

Britney's Love Life With Columbus Short? |

Keep in mind this article is critizing Britney. People News reported that the love life of Britney Spears seems to be taking a turn for the better at the moment, as the pop tart enjoys a spot of late-night choreography with backing dancer and close pal Columbus Short. Snapped emerging from a New York hotel, the pop princess looked rather tired and 'not happy at all,' presuambly something to do with the bank of photographers awaiting her arrival. Britters has consistently denied any sexual shenanigans with father-to-be Short, which revelation would seem to contradict the dearly-held (and loudly-spoken) convictions of the dancer's wife. Brandi Short has cruelly dubbed Britney a 'marriage wrecker,' unreasonably leaping to this conclusion just as Columbus moved out and rumours of more than a dancefloor relationship with his employer emerged.
'Britney has been buying him gifts for months now and even arranged his birthday party last month,' said a source: 'does that sound like nothing's going on to you?' The pop tart has been fighting tooth and painted nail to defend her image of late, and recently claimed not even to want to be seen as a sex symbol. 'Look, if you want me to be some kind of sex thing, that's not me. I will never do that.' The fact she was wearing a short white sweater, high heels and no pants for a raunchy photo shoot for Esquire at the time, means absolutely nothing. |

Britney To Perform For AIDS Awareness |

Britney Spears, 50 Cent, Beyoncé, Pink, Shakira, Bono and many others will take part in a benefit concert for AIDS awareness on November 29 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The extravaganza will be broadcast live over the Internet, and a 90-minute special will air on MTV on World AIDS Day, December 1. A simultaneous feed will be available at no cost to all TV and radio stations around the globe
Proceeds from the concert will go to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The event is expected to draw 40,000 people and will be recorded for CD and DVD release. In addition, the CD will feature around 15 new studio recordings, a spokesperson for the project said.
Mandela announced the concert Tuesday morning (October 21) at a press conference in London. Attendees included Ms. Dynamite and members of Queen and the Eurythmics, artists whose bands will also perform at the concert. Other acts that will play include David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Sting, the Corrs, Moloko, Paul Oakenfold with Shifty Shellshock and TC, Anastacia and African musicians such as Baaba Maal, Johnny Clegg and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. More artists will be annoenced soon.
The event will be called 46664, a very personal number for Mandela. "46664 was my prison number for over 18 years," he said. "I was imprisoned on Robben Island [and] known as just another number. Millions of people today infected with AIDS are just that — a number. They, too, are serving a prison sentence for life. No longer is AIDS just a disease, it is a human-rights issue."
The first song for the 46664 CD is "46664 (Long Walk to Freedom)," which was written by Bono, Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and the late Joe Strummer of the Clash. The track was performed by Bono, Youssou N'Dour, Abdel and Dave Stewart, and can be heard starting Tuesday by calling (866) 614-6664. For every minute spent on the line, callers will have one dollar charged to their credit card.
"I sort of had the idea, 'Why don't we use that prison number as a telephone number,' because if you use it as a telephone number globally, it's so easy for people to donate," Stewart said.
Additional tracks from the album, including one by Paul McCartney and one by Queen, will be previewed in the coming weeks.
For Queen guitarist Brian May, whose frontman Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in 1991, contributing to the cause offered a great opportunity to resurface with his former bandmates. "AIDS has become part of our lives, obviously ever since we lost Freddie, but it continues," he said. "And of course, as soon as Mandela speaks, the world listens. So, we had to be involved in this. Once we got down to South Africa and actually saw the magnitude of this tragedy, we became more and more committed. And the passion came from just knowing something had to be done."

Here is the original article posted back in the begining of June:
The Sun reports that Britney will the latest celebrity to be made into a wax statue. The wax Britney is set to become a raunchy pole dancer with breasts that will throb. The wax statue will be modeled after Britney's sexiest pose ever -- with her back arched and chest puffed out from her pose from Britney's Live in Las Vegas video as she sang Slave 4 U. For realistic purposes, the wax statue will also be given heaving breasts which inflate. The transformation is being made by experts at Madame Tussaud's waxworks museum in London. The creators of the masterpiece, a £52,000 wax look-alike, want to mimic Britney's breathing. An insider promised: "She will be our raunchiest model ever. "For the first time we are installing balloons in her chest so her boobs heave in and out. "She is hanging upside-down in the pose and when the waxwork is unveiled it will give our male visitors one hell of a treat." The model of Britney is the latest feature in a new £2million interactive room called Blush. She will dangle next to a blushing J-Lo and a Brad Pitt with a squeezable bum. A spokeswoman confirmed the plans last night and said the waxwork will be unveiled later this year. She added: "We will have a couple of real pole dancers on call to offer tips to the public."
Thanks to Natasha we have video captures from tonight's Access Hollywoord At Madame Tussaud's where they give us a first glimpse of the Britney's wax statue. Be the first to get a glimpse of the statue by clicking here! |

The New York Post reports:
Britney Spears treated fans to the show of a lifetime Friday night - tearing her tight-fitting tank top off at three different clubs in less than three hours But not everybody was basking in the glow of Britney's body, as the pop tart's security goons confiscated cameras and roughed-up photographers to keep pictures of the racy routine from coming to light before they air on MTV.
Photographers on the scene told The Post of mass chaos at ultra-trendy clubs Show, Splash and Avalon, as both MTV security and Britney's personal detail manhandled paparazzi and fans at the unannounced events.
"It was way out of control," said one photog. "They went totally overboard." The pop tart was filming an MTV special titled "In the Zone and Out All Night" to promote the Nov. 15 release of her new album.
At each of the three clubs, Britney pulled her red tank top over her head to reveal a skimpy pink lamé bra (sported as she dominated a backup dancer during her striptease).
At Avalon, the Madonna wannabe was briefly blindfolded and put in a leather chair as backup dancers gyrated around her.
But not everyone enjoyed the shows in which Britney performed two songs off her new album titled "In the Zone." One photographer called police after being put in a headlock by an MTV security guard, but reportedly decided against pressing charges. Security also grabbed a point-and-shoot from a female fan, who was later seen crying, according to another photographer.
"Madonna's people don't pull this crap," fumed one lensman. "Big stars just don't get physical with us." |

Here are the lyrics of the song Everytime that Britney performed last night on SNL. These were posted in our forum. Come notice me And take my hand So why are we Strangers when Our love is strong Why carry on without me?
And everytime I try to fly I fall without my wings I feel so small I guess I need you baby And everytime I see you in my dreams I see your face, it's haunting me I guess I need you baby
I make believe That you are here It's the only way I see clear What have I done You seem to move on easy
And everytime I try to fly I fall without my wings I feel so small I guess I need you baby And everytime I see you in my dreams I see your face, it's haunting me I guess I need you baby
I may have made it rain Please forgive me My weakness caused you pain And this song is my sorry
Ohhhh
At night I pray That soon your face Will fade away
And everytime I try to fly I fall without my wings I feel so small I guess I need you baby And everytime I see you in my dreams I see your face, it's haunting me I guess I need you baby

Me Against the Music has taken off with a bang, debuting the first day at 110 adds. Radio is calling it the "Event Record of the Year." Brit called last night really excited about all the hype. She and I were remembering when we drove to dance listening to Madonna's music. Never in a million years would we have imagined that she and Madonna would be doing a song and video together. It is surreal! Wait until you see the video! Be sure to tune in to Saturday Night Live this Saturday. Brit is also going to do my favorite song from the album. I love her first single, but my favorite is "Everytime." It's a kind of dreamy song.
Britney is scheduled to do Prime Time with Diane Sawyer. Brit also has an ABC special in November. She is also going to Europe soon to do Top of the Pops in London, RTL in Germany, and Hit Machine in Paris. Yes, here she goes again! Looks like she's about to be everywhere!!! |

RedZone Talks About Working With Britney |

Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and Penelope Magnet knew they were on to something when Britney Spears' handlers took interest in what was only the third song the duo had written and produced together.
The collective known as RedZone had only one problem.
"She told us the song sucked," Stewart said, laughing.
Fortunately for RedZone, Spears bonded with the 19-year-old Magnet — who, like the pop princess, hails from Louisiana — and spent a night in New York hanging out with the duo.
The next day Stewart and Magnet wrote "Me Against the Music."
"Getting a chance to hang out with [Britney] and talk to her and get in her world made it a lot easier to actually write and know what she would and wouldn't say, to know where her real vibe is," Magnet said.
"We knew first we needed some energy," Stewart added.
Tricky, best known for co-writing and co-producing B2K's "Uh Huh," came up with the track, while Magnet came up with the melody on a piano and wrote the lyrics.
"It's extremely aggressive," Magnet said. "It immediately makes you feel like something's happening. So the whole concept is kind of like she was battling the track. Like she was hearing the music and trying to out-dance the track or out-beat the drum or out-pluck the guitar. It's as if she's in the club, losing herself in the music."
"Me Against the Music" immediately won over Spears and eventually another music magnate, Madonna, who later collaborated on what would become the first single from Spears' upcoming In the Zone, due November 18 (see "Britney Gets Down With Madonna Again").
RedZone were then enlisted to work on several more songs for the album, including writing the lyrics for the Moby-produced "Early Morning," recording vocals for the R. Kelly-produced "Outrageous" and writing and producing "The Hook Up," which Magnet described as having "a reggae feel."
Stewart said their Britney material is "the tip of the iceberg" of a new style RedZone are developing.
"It's just a natural growth of what's going on in music," he explained. "It's half-rapping, half-singing. It's young, it's beat-driven, it's everything the kids are going to be looking for. It's a hip-hop dance genre. We don't have a name for it yet, but we're going to name it."
Since "Me Against the Music" hit the airwaves a few weeks ago, RedZone's phones have been ringing off the hook, but rather than accept invitations to collaborate, they want to extend them.
"We have 10 songs right now we really, really love, and we want to find the best artists for each of our songs," Stewart said. "It's about finding more artists that want to get into the kind of vibe we're into right now."
Right now, RedZone have only one commitment, a song with Mya for the "Barbershop 2" soundtrack. The collaboration will find Stewart coming full circle, as Mya's "Case of the Ex" was his breakthrough track.
Stewart, whose mother and aunts were backup singers for Curtis Mayfield and Aretha Franklin, wrote his first song at age 12. As a teenager, he wanted what every other teenager wanted — to be like his older brother.
So Tricky, a nickname he earned with his football skills, used his family connections and at 17 produced his first album, for R&B trio Immature. He went on to work with J.T. Money, Sisqó and Ginuwine and eventually built his own studio in Atlanta.
Stewart also formed his own company, RedZone Entertainment, and signed Blu Cantrell, who scored a hit with "Hit Em Up Style (Oops!)."
Magnet, who had recently moved to Atlanta and was already writing songs for rappers, tracked Tricky down at a club and impressed him enough to get signed. "It's kind of funny because the artist I worked for before Britney was Too Short," she said, laughing. "To go from that to this in the same breath is pretty exciting."
Along with writing and producing for RedZone, Penelope is recording an album as P Magnet. "I rap and I sing, and I like to place a smidgen of my sound on people I work with. My album will be taking [Redzone's production style] to the 10th power."
P Magnet's debut is due early next year, around the same time another Redzone Entertainment act, a Jamaican R&B trio named Brick and Lace, will be introduced. The production side of the company also expects to be highly active in the new year.
"We're not going to join radio right now, we're going to fix it," Stewart said. "We're going to change the way radio sounds."
Evidently RedZone's confidence was not hurt by Britney's initial rejection.
"It was a song called 'Pop Culture Whore,' so I can see why she would hate it," Magnet said, laughing.

Madge Gets Mad On The Set Of MATM |

NY Daily News reports A spy on the set of the much-hyped Madonna-Britney Spears video, "Me Against the Music," says reports of the Material Matron's mellowing are highly exaggerated. I'm told that when her costume wasn't fitting properly, the 45-year-old children's-book author and mother of two delivered a bracing tongue-lashing to Paul Hunter, the hot auteur of "Moulin Rouge's" hit "Lady Marmalade" video and the Gap commercial featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott.
"In the beginning, it was tough because Madonna was upset about her outfit. She got upset with Paul," said the informant at the Silvercup Studios in Queens, where the three-day shoot was staged last week.
The video - the first single off Britney's upcoming album, "In the Zone" - won't satisfy audiences hoping for a repeat of the open-mouthed girl-on-girl action that won Madonna and Britney the Best Publicity Magnet prize at the MTV Video Music Awards.
"It was very, very sensual," says the spy, "but I didn't see any kissing."
Nor was Britney kissing Columbus Short, the married dancer she's been linked to in recent weeks. Could their relationship be platonic?
"They definitely get along really well, but they don't seem like they are together."
Liz Rosenberg, Madonna's rep, confirmed that Madge and Brit will disappoint fantasy-mongers. "Madonna did that already, didn't she? She doesn't like to repeat herself," Rosenberg said.
As for the hissy fit: "I didn't see that happening. If her clothes didn't fit, she wouldn't be talking to the director anyway. She'd be talking to the stylist."
Calls to Britney's record label, Jive, were not returned. |

Britney's Video Treatment for MATM |

Britney and Madonna may have already kissed, but now Madonna's playing hard to get.
In Spears' upcoming video for "Me Against the Music," Madonna lures the pop princess through a mazelike underground after-hours club, only to disappear into thin air when Britney gets close enough to touch.
According to the treatment for the video, shot last week in New York with director Paul Hunter (J. Lo, Deftones), the pop singers discover they're reverse images of each other, from their dance moves to the way they dress. Britney wears black to Madonna's white. Britney is hipster to Madonna's old-school. Britney's section of the club is populated with cool kids, flaunting pink and purple hair while taking whiffs from an oxygen tank, while Madonna's stakes claim to a territory filled with men in suits, smoking cigars.
Though the areas are separated by a wall, somehow Britney can sense Madonna on the other side. At first, it seems like they have a psychic or telepathic connection — but then Madonna's visage starts appearing on television monitors throughout the club, making Britney more determined to find her.
As if the ESP element wasn't enough, the club proves not to be governed by the usual rules of reality in other areas, such as when Madonna finds herself a room covered with fallen leaves, where she can stand on a swing to amuse herself. But instead of wondering how the leaves got inside in the first place, she's more concerned with coaxing Britney to rid herself of her inhibitions: "Hey, Britney, you say you wanna lose control/ Sexy lady, I'd rather see you bare your soul/ If you think you're so hot, better show me what you got/ Let me see you dance."
Madonna's solo, however, turns out to be but a siren's song, as she is nowhere to be found once Britney hears the call and makes it to the swing room. Over the course of several rooms, Britney searches desperately as Madonna plays an elaborate cat-and-mouse game with her.
But fans can easily find both singers beginning October 20, when "Making the Video: Britney Spears" premieres at 6 p.m.

Ananova reports Britney Spears says she dreams about having a family and wants a baby by the time she is 28 years old.
The 21-year-old told German paper Bild: "I dream about having a child. I want to have a baby by 28 at the latest."
But the singer said she wouldn't push her own children into the spotlight.
"If they really wanted a pop career there would probably be nothing I could do to stop them. But I think it would be better for them to follow their own dreams and do what they really wanted to do."
Britney, who complained to the paper about being exhausted and suffering with stomach pains, said she found life as part of the pop industry hard: "Sometimes it all really wears me down.
"Then I most like to go home and rest. I did that in 2002 after I had been on tour non-stop for the past three years. I just needed some time to build my strength back up. But even then I could only spend four weeks with my family."
But she said there were some perks to fame and fortune. When asked what she saw as the biggest advantage, she replied: "Being able to stay in all these beautiful hotels and getting my nails done."

From: New York Daily News
Looks like Britney isn't going to kiss and make up with Maryland's First Lady, even with Kendal Ehrlich two apologies for saying taht she would like to shoot her if she was given the chance. As every one remembers, last week, during during a conference on domestic violance Kendal Ehrlich voiced her opinion that, "if I had an opportunity to shoot Britney Spears, I think I would." The Governer's wife quickly appologized for her words, most likely because of political backfire that may occur, but Britney's record lable, Jive Records, said that Mrs. Ehrlich shot "herself in the foot by promoting violence."
Meghann Siwinski, spokeswoman for Mrs. Ehrlich, said "She suggested that perhaps Ms. Spears could come to Maryland so that she could apologize in person and have a benefit conference for domestic violence programs." "As of yet we have not heard from Britney Spears or her publicists," a spokeswoman said. |

From Reuters
In the couple of years since Britney Spears' last musical output, she has never once left the headlines of the consumer press. In fact, if anything, the one-time teen queen is more renowned than ever before. But now it's time for Brit to prove that her provocative state of undress and various sexcapades are only sidelines to her primary purpose here -- hit songs. "Me Against the Music" is frantically busy, with Spears' voice often a mere accessory amid a swirl of rapid-fire lyrics, background vocals and a frenetic pogo-stick beat. After repeated listens, however, the party-anthem rhythms sort themselves out and ripen into a series of infectious, albeit quirky, hooks. It's still much more a jam du jour than a song -- there's no real melody -- but radio will be licking this up like a cherry lollipop. The other shortfall: Madonna. She comes off like a great-aunt poseur, much like the Gap ads. Oops, she did it again. |

Looks like Britney is furious at Esquire Magazine for printing to revealing pictures of her. Although her brother, Brian, was present for the photoshoot, Britney thought the pictures were to naked. This hasn't been the first time tension have arised; Britney's work with Esquire has been tense ever since Britney has been photographed for other magazines, David Granger, editor, thought he had an exclusive with Britney for Esquire. A magazine insider tells gossip website PAGE SIX, "Britney thinks the pictures are too naked and is really angry at Esquire. "But really, is she out of her mind? I mean, her brother was at the shoot. "Exploited? Is she crazy? Look at the photos she has done for everyone else. The ROLLING STONE cover was practically naked, too - but she wasn't exploited by them?"

She’s Not That Innocent - About Image |

MSNBC reports Does Britney Spears speak English? That’s what I keep asking myself as I weigh her comments in the latest issue of Esquire against the accompanying pictures. Loving up the lens of photographer James White, she garnishes her tawny, not-quite-22-year-old body with little more than some Mardis Gras beads and a pair of bun-hugging micro-briefs. It’s hardly the first time Brit has bared so much skin for a magazine, but it’s the words, not the wind-blown pin-up poses, that confound.
ADDRESSING INTERVIEWER Chuck Klosterman’s fair question as to whether her new album might be aimed at a more “mature” (read: sexually self-aware) audience, Spears claims to have outright refused such intimations from her record label. In her own words: “I was like, ‘Look, if you want me to be some kind of sex thing, that’s not me.’ I will never do that.” Elsewhere, Klosterman prods the pop icon for a reason why half-naked women are so perennially featured on magazine covers. For the record, her own carefully chosen belief is that such conspicuous displays of flesh are intended “to inspire people.”
If she’s inadvertently mixing up the definitions of “inspire” and “titillate,” or if she’s somehow got the term “sex thing” confused with “structural engineer,” then maybe I could believe that we’re dealing in the same mother tongue. But the more I read and ponder the interview (Klosterman, for his part, sounds just as incredulous), the more I’m convinced that Britney’s backstage tutors missed a few important vocabulary units.
To be clear: There’s nothing inherently amoral or scandalous about manifesting your sexuality for a mass audience, especially when your job is to entertain. Still, Britney appears content to corroborate the translucent myth that her success owes everything to her artistry, as if her so-so voice and serviceable dance-pop oeuvre could ever thrive without the prurient underpinnings. For someone so deeply enamored with Madonna, she’s abnormally reluctant to talk straight about the carnal corollaries of pop stardom and the legitimate benefits of a positive sexual identity (especially after finally and officially outing herself as a non-virgin earlier this year).
“I’m famous,” she confesses, “but I’m not famous like freaking Brad Pitt or Jennifer Aniston. But in my weird little head, I just think we’re all here to inspire each other. We’re all equal. We just bounce off each other and show the world what we can do.” While it’s diverting to imagine how much folks might pay to see Brad and Jennifer and Britney bouncing off each other on pay-per-view, Ms. Spears makes no time for dirty minds. “I’m concerned with the kids out there,” she says, “I’m concerned with the next generation of people. I’m not worried about some guy who’s a perv and wants to meet a freaking virgin.”
It’s near-impossible to fully understand how Spears’ career looks from the inside out. Put me in that kind of limelight (let alone that kind of underwear) and I’m sure my common sense would buckle. But as viewed from the outside in, the choices that pop stars and their publicists make can be read more matter-of-factly, and what I see is a passable singer who got super-famous and, knowingly or not, has been humoring other people’s notions of barely-legal sex appeal from the get-go. From video directors to magazine editors to online shrine-keepers to Bob Dole, everyone else seems to be in on this relatively banal bit of information.
Doing It 'For The Kids'? Right It must take a team of round-the-clock master manipulators and/or yea-sayers to shield Britney altogether from the rudimentary fact that she’s the biggest and most ubiquitous pop pin-up this side of Cindy Crawford. Alternately, it could be that she’s done a preternatural job of insulating herself from the reality in which “the kids” whom she purports to be so concerned about live each day. That she would regard her various cheesecake sessions as a way to of stir “inspiration” among her peers seems as preposterous as Snoop and Dre smoking weed for strictly medical reasons.
All of which is not to say that I wouldn’t love to give Britney the benefit of the doubt. Maybe that sheet-smart gaze as she tugs down her panties in the pages of Esquire was meant not as a universal come-on, but as an invitation to her fans and fellow artists to let it all hang out while discussing Gorecki and Chagall over a mug of Earl Grey. Or maybe she’s simply living out the inspiration she gleaned from Aniston’s bare-booty cover shoot for a 1996 issue of Rolling Stone. (The new Esquire cover is actually an homage to Angie Dickinson; Hollywood conspiracy theorists might suspect that Britney’s just subliminally angling for the lead in the inevitable remake of Police Woman.)
Asked about her own provocative, Lolita-vibed photo shoot for Rolling Stone in 1999, Britney once told MTV, “I wouldn’t do this for any other magazine, but because it is Rolling Stone, I think it’s fine and it’s tasteful.” Does that mean her standards have loosened over the years, or has Esquire simply made a swift credibility leap worthy of her exposed butt?
The real truth is that girlfriend has a new album to promote. The connection between Britney’s music and this particular newsstand striptease may be indirect, but image is everything, and she’s been a semi-nude megastar long enough to get comfortable with her symbolic sexuality. To repeatedly strip down to your skivvies while denying any sort of sexual self-perception (dismissing amorous onlookers as “pervs” to boot) is sad at best and insulting at worst. Maybe she and Madonna should be swapping conventional wisdom along with their spit. Better yet, maybe the media ought to stick to reviewing Britney’s CDs and performances and leave the improbable, mind-numbing doublespeak to the White House mouthpieces down in D.C. |

A member of the World Of Britney Forums posted Ok guys, just like my own insider gave me the scoops for VMA's, this time is this Britney/Madonna video shoot, enjoy :
Filmed three days, Oct. 8-9-10 Silver Studios East, Queens
Guy Ritchie left the studio at 2:45. He was wearing jeans and a blue Adidas-looking zipper jacket. He walked around the lot a little, hugged a woman who had been hanging outside Madonna’s bus. And then he left the lot altogether.
Madonna and Britney’s busses were parked right night to each other. Eventually, the driver reversed Madonna’s bus, so her bus door was adjacent to Britney’s bus door. At one point in the afternoon, Madonna went inside Britney’s bus. Britney hung outside her bus with Columbus and smoked during breaks. At one point, Columbus yelled something to Britney as she went in her bus, and Britney came out with a lighter.
A pit bull got injured on the set. In the video, the pit bull has some part. A lot of the crew were laughing because the pit bull, which got walked around the lot often, was entering the door when someone opened it — on its toe, and its toenail fell off. The pit bull shrieked loudly, and the owner flipped out. "Oh, my God! How could this happen!" Apparently, the pit bull is an actor. "Call 911" someone yelled. "If you need to take it to the hospital…" But the pit bull was fine after everyone relaxed. The owner pulled it aside to a quiet part of the parking lot.
The concept of the video is that Britney and Madonna are in a club trying to find each other. They're communicating telepathically. Soon, it becomes a cat and mouse chase, and there is a maze. Britney is in the hipster part of the club. She wears a tie around her neck (think Avril Lavigne) and the backup people have streaks purple hair, bright pink hair, dress in Urban Outfitters-type gear. One guy had a hip white jacket and a tie around his neck and wore a T-shirt. Madonna, wearing a white pants suit, is hanging out among businessmen in suits. At one point in the vid, Brit is on a huge swing, and there's a lot of smoke.
The video is directed by Paul Hunter, who has directed a lot of hip hop videos. Britney and Madonna would throw in suggestions and offer input to Hunter. It wasn’t just the director in charge .
No cell phones were allowed on the set, which seemed to irritate the crew more than "all of the waiting" between shoots. "They won’t allow us to bring cell phones on the set. This is the first time I’m checking my voicemail," I overheard someone say. Also, no recording devices, cameras, cell phone, nothing was allowed on the set, per the request of Britney and Madonna.
Britney kept requesting Starbucks. I counted about three Starbucks runs. Britney did not seem daunted by all of the work. She was giddy and playful. She playfully punched bodyguard at one point, but mostly smoked and talked to people from her team. She did not appear lovey-dovey with Columbus. At one point, someone arrived on the set with an OK! magazine (the large English tabloid), and everyone was pointing to a picture and laughing.
At 7:53 p.m. Columbus followed Britney into her bus.
Rocco was on the set with the nanny a lot. I was sitting on a forklift, and Rocco came up and pretended to drive it. He was playing on the ground. The nanny would fly him around as if he were an airplane. He was on the video set because when I first saw him, Madonna was holding him as she walked off the set to her bus.
During one of the breaks, Britney and Madonna were kneeling in front of Rocco outside of Britney’s bus door. Britney was asking him how old he was. "Are you this many?" she’d ask, holding up her fingers.
Madonna had two personal umbrella handlers at all times, so no one could photograph her. Othertimes, she walked around freely — she has this cool swagger or saunter when she walks — on to the set. She definitely had a presence.
Britey’s oufits: 1. First appeared in a orange T-shirt and jeans 2. Tie around her neck (a navy collar, and a tie) 3. A black, strappy S&M-esque outfit
During a break, Britney ate Cheetos and took a bite of Columbus' panini sandwich after he told her to. Kind of like, Try this.
When Madonna arrived, she asked, Is Britney here? and pointed to Brit's bus door. She then went into makeup for three hours. She looked bad w/out makeup. Eyes all puffy.
Nick Lachey showed up, supposedly as support. He's a friend of Brit's. It's filmed in same studio as Hope and Faith.
Columbus is in the vid as a dancer and also helped with choreography.
Guy came on Wed. night while Madge was filming. Her face lit up. She gave him a mini-wave.
At one point, Columbus was making noises with some lighters and Brit was bopping her head back and forth . |

Britney Unhappy About Diet-Pill Ads |

AZCentral.com reports: Britney Spears has shilled for everything from Pepsi to sneakers, but there's one product she's not ready to tout: diet pills, reports MSNBC.com.
The singer made headlines recently when she dropped a bottle of pills at an airport that one tabloid identified as Zantrex-3, a popular over-the-counter "fat burner."
The pill makers wasted little time in putting the high-profile singer in its ads and touting the reports that Spears uses the weight-loss product.
"Revealed: Britney's Slimming Secrets," reads one ad that shows the pics of the singer supposedly with the pills.
Spears is furious, said a source, and her legal team is working overtime to get her out of the ads.
"It's the last thing she needs," the source said. "Her people are threatening to sue the company if they don't cease and desist."
A spokeswoman for Spears said the ad is "completely unauthorized" and confirmed that "appropriate measures are being taken to stop it." |

Star Magazinereports: As pop tart Britney Spears' outrageous behavior hits new highs, loyal fans are bound to blame Madonna, her companion in controversy, for leading her astray. But while the stars did share a sloppy kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards, reports that Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie will direct Britney and his wife in an S&M-themed video for Spears' new single "Me Against The Music" have been overhyped.
" Guy Ritchie is not directing," Madonna's rep Liz Rosenberg tells Star. "It's mostly a performance video. No dominatrix S&M stuff. Madonna did that years ago and you know she doesn't repeat herself. Paul Hunter is directing and the details are changing constantly."
As for Madonna advising Spears, Rosenberg continues, "I don't really think Britney needs career advice. 'Mentor' is too strong a word. I think Britney has respect for Madonna and they enjoy working together."
Madonna and Britney collaborated on the song from Britney's new album Get In the Zone, slated for release on Nov. 18, and the older star has been schooling Spears in the Kabbalah religion.
Meanwhile, Britney, who flew to Rome recently to film a Pepsi commercial, has been inseparable from her married backup dancer Columbus Short, which isn't helping her image. And she just parted ways with her highly-respected publicist, Dan Klores, who sources say tired of doing damage control for his high-maintenance client.
"Britney is vulnerable and confused at the moment," a Spears source told Star. "She idolizes Madonna. She thinks that by following in Madonna's footsteps she'll achieve 'staying power' long after her music gets tired." |

While pop culture won out at the governor's mansion in California, it wasn't doing so well in Maryland, where first lady Kendal Ehrlich took it to task last week when she went gunning for Britney Spears. Speaking at a domestic-violence conference at Hood College on Friday, Ehrlich wanted to blame pop culture for taking precedence over education, so she took a shot at Spears. "It is incredibly important to get that message to young women," she said, when stressing the importance for young women to educate themselves to avoid becoming dependent on anyone else. "You know, really, if I had an opportunity to shoot Britney Spears, I think I would." On Tuesday, she apologized for her unfortunate phrasing, which she called an "inadvertent figure of speech" via her spokesperson. Spears' rep, on the other hand, said that the governor's wife had shot her own self in the foot by promoting violence. Spears is shooting something far less violent, we assume — her video for "Me Against the Music" with Madonna this week in New York with director Paul Hunter. |

Ananova reports Britney Spears has denied trying to attract a more mature audience with her upcoming album, In the Zone.
The singer says her record label wanted her to do "certain kinds of songs", but she told them she didn't want to be a sex symbol.
She said: "Look, if you want me to be some kind of sex thing, that's not me,'" she tells Esquire magazine in its November issue. "I will never do that. I'm still doing what I love to do."
Spears appears on the cover in a short white sweater and high heels, re-creating a famous pose by actress Angie Dickinson.
But she doesn't see herself as super famous. "I'm famous, but I'm not famous like freaking Brad Pitt or Jennifer Aniston. But in my weird little head, I just think we're all here to inspire each other. We're all equal. We just bounce off each other and show the world what we can do."
Spears said if she didn't have a career in music, she "probably would have gone to college and become a schoolteacher.
"That was my dream, because I love kids," she said. "Either that, or an entertainment lawyer." |

Hand Bag reports Kissing cigarette-smoking singer Britney Spears at the Mtv Video Music Awards left pop queen Madonna feeling sick.
According to German newspaper Bild, the Music megastar - who has struck up a close friendship with the Lucky singer - felt queasy after sampling Britney's tobacco-tinged saliva.
She says, "I was almost sick afterwards."
But the other participant in the three-way liplock, Christina Aguilera, had no such complaints about her Like A Virgin mentor.
Christina gushed, "Madonna is a good kisser. She has such soft lips!" |

MSNBC reports Britney Spears has shilled for everything from Pepsi to sneakers, but there’s one product she’s not ready to tout: diet pills. The singer made headlines recently when she dropped a bottle of pills at an airport that one tabloid identified as Zantrex-3, a popular over-the-counter “fat burner.”
The pill makers wasted little time in putting the high-profile singer in its ads and touting the reports that Spears uses the weight-loss product. “Revealed: Britney’s Slimming Secrets” reads one ad that shows the pics of the singer supposedly with the pills. (Editor’s Note: After this column appeared, the ad appears to have been taken off the site.)
Spears is furious, says a source, and her legal team is working overtime to get her out of the ads. “It’s the last thing she needs,” says a source. “Her people are threatening to sue the company if they don’t cease and desist.”
A spokeswoman for Spears told The Scoop that the ad is “completely unauthorized” and confirmed that “appropriate measures are being taken to stop it.” |

Contact Music reports Nightclub bosses in London have sacked ATOMIC KITTEN from a planned gig, because bigger star BRITNEY SPEARS has offered to perform on the same night.
Britney wants the 8 November (03) gig at ASTORIA gay event G.A.Y, to help her promote her new album in Britain - and organisers, who hope Spears will tempt new pal MADONNA to join her on-stage, felt they couldn't turn the sexy star down.
The development is embarassing for the British girl group, who were themselves hoping to promote their new single and second album on the night.
The Kittens have even reportedly offered to support Britney - but have had no response from the American star.
A club source tells British tabloid THE SUN, "There's no contest, really. If you are a venue and Britney Spears says she wants to perform, you clear the schedule." |

NBC San Diego reports: Appearing on the cover of Esquire magazine wearing a short white sweater and nothing else but her imagination, Spears recreates a famous 1966 photo shoot of film and TV actress Angie Dickinson.
The photos are part of the magazine's 70 Years of Women We Love November issue, which also showcases Cameron Diaz, Pamela Anderson, Catherine Zeta Jones, Sharon Stone and Madonna.
In an interview that accompanies the photographs, Spears explains why Esquire wanted her to appear on the magazine's cover.
"Well, some people might say it's just to make money and sell magazines," said Spears. "But another reason -- a better reason, and the one I choose -- is that they do it to inspire people."
Inside the magazine are other photos shot by James White, featuring even more revealing pictures of Spears, who is outfitted in solely in a pair of panties and some carefully placed necklaces.
Elsewhere in the article, Spears claims to have resisted her record label's attempts to sexually exploit her.
"Actually, the record label wanted me to do certain songs, and I was like, 'Look, if you want me to be some kind of sex thing, that's not me,' " said Spears. "I will never do that. I'm still doing what I love to do." |

Concact Music reports: Pop star BRITNEY SPEARS is often horrified when she reads interviews she's given - because she fears they make her seem stupid.
The OOPS!..I DID IT AGAIN beauty has learned to relax her attitude to the necessity of talking to journalists, because she often has no control over the end result.
Britney laughs, "You can't worry about it too much, you know. I did an interview for a magazine the other day and it made me sound like such a dumb**s.
"I read the interview and I was like, 'I would never say that,' you know what I mean? So you just go with it and be yourself and they say what they want to say, the motherf***ers." |

"Me Against the Music," featuring Madonna, will be available exclusively for AOL members for 24 hours beginning Monday, October 6 at 12:01am ET at AOL Keyword: First Listen. The song will be the first single off of In the Zone, Spears' forthcoming new album, set to hit stores on November 18. "I'm really excited about the new single and I think its great that my fans on AOL will be the first to hear it," states Britney Spears.
The First Listen program represents the debuts of the most eagerly anticipated songs by the biggest names in music, before they are available anywhere else. Since the program's launch in January 2002, AOL members have had the first opportunity to hear exclusive world premieres from top artists across music genres, including hit songs from Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, 50 Cent, Dixie Chicks, Nelly, Josh Groban, Beyonce and Christina Aguilera. AOL Music's First Listen received the first annual MidemNet Innovation Award in January 2003. "We are thrilled Britney and Jive Records have chosen our First Listen program to unveil her newest work to the world," said Evan Harrison, vice president and general manager of AOL Music. "We expect a tremendous reaction from our members."
"Me Against The Music," was co-written by Britney Spears and produced by Redzone. Spears co-wrote 7 of the 13 songs for In the Zone, the hotly anticipated follow-up to her 2001 self-titled, multi-platinum release. Some of the other producers/writers on the album include Moby ("Early Mornin'"), Bloodshy & Avant ("Showdown"), Guy Sigsworth ("Everytime") and R. Kelly ("Outrageous"). Since storming the pop music scene with 1999's ...Baby One More Time, Spears has sold nearly 60 million albums worldwide. |

New York Post reported that it's bottoms up for Britney Spears as the pop tart playfully bares her posterior in the November issue of Esquire.
Britney's pose in a skintight sweater and white stillettos is an affectionate tribute to Angie Dickinson, who appeared in the mag's March 1966 issue wearing the same skimpy outfit.
The sexy shot by lensman James White is part of Esquire's "70 Years of Women We Love" edition, which, ironically, also features sultry Cameron Diaz, now the hot-and-heavy flame of Britney's ex-love Justin Timberlake.
