Britney To Quite Smoking For Real

Exclusive By Grant Hodgson BRITNEY Spears wants to quit smoking - and she's all set to call in a world-renowned British guru to help her. The singer is desperate to kick her 20-a-day habit before becoming a mum and has been recommended to use stop-smoking expert Allen Carr, who has weaned dozens of celebrities off tobacco. The newlywed could start one of Carr's courses as soon as she returns from her honeymoon in Fiji with husband Kevin Federline. "She has made no secret about wanting a baby but doesn't want to be puffing away if she's pregnant," said a close pal. "When she quits smoking she wants it to be forever. She's tried other forms of quitting and they have simply not worked. "Britney's going to contact Allen's people as soon as she can to get an appointment." Carr, 69, told the Sunday Mirror he was confident he could help Britney quit. "I'm delighted when anyone would want to use my books or clinics," he said. Britney's first step to being nicotine-free would be a £195 five-hour course at one of Carr's clinics. The course involves a combination of psychotherapy to look at why she smokes and hypnotherapy to help reinforce her will to quit. During one-to-one sessions the therapist won't talk about the usual health and cost reasons to stop smoking. Instead, they will talk about all the reasons she does smoke, then "dismantle them one by one". During the Paul McKenna-style hypnotherapy session, the room will be darkened, and she will lie down and close her eyes while the therapist reinforces the messages from the session. Other celebs who have used Carr's methods include Sir Richard Branson, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Julie Christie, Marie Helvin, Leslie Grantham, Martin Clunes, Robson Green, Sean Bean and Ronnie O'Sullivan. Carr, from Putney, South-West London, used to smoke a lung-busting 100 cigarettes a day but quit for good in 1983. The father of four has more than 40 "Easyway" clinics in 18 countries which he says have a 90 per cent success rate and have helped cure 100,000 smokers. His 15 self-help books also sell in their millions. Adding more weight to the pregnancy rumours, Britney has pulled the plug on all recording commitments for the next year. A source at her record company Jive said her "life as a wife must come first". "She is focused and committed to motherhood. She knows having a baby will change her life and can't wait to be a mum," said the source. Britney married dancer Federline last month in Los Angeles. British soul sensation Joss Stone is urging critics to leave Britney Spears alone. The 17-year-old beauty believes toxic singer Spears is unfairly criticised for her singing talents, and would like to stop all of the jibes made against her. Stone says, "I've never met her, but I think she's very beautiful and is a brilliant performer. She can dance her ass off. I kind of feel bad for her. "I don't like how people diss her. Britney Awarded New RIAA Certification

With the new wave in technology coming upon us with the use od digital music in the form of MP3 file format, the RIAA has issued new certifications for digital downloads. The RIAA has issued its first gold, platinum, and multiplatinum certifications for digital downloads. Britney has been awarded the gold certification with the likes of other bands including Coldplay, The Darkness, and Sheryl Crow. The RIAA based its certifications on sales made through digital download services operated by companies including Apple Computer, Musicmatch, Napster, RealNetworks and others.

Britney DVD Has Alternate Takes Of Her Videos, Plus More Skin

Think you've seen all of Britney's music videos? Then you must be who Spears had in mind when she put together her DVD video retrospective, "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative." The set will contain several alternate versions of many of her top clips, including one for "Toxic" in which she wears nothing but diamonds the entire time. Not only are some of the clips rarely seen and, in some cases, never-before-seen versions, but 10 of the 20 videos that comprise the November 9 collection have been expanded and enhanced. Fans can watch new footage from "Everytime" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy," as well as the never-before-released material shot before the singer's knee injury on the set of "Outrageous", including one scene where she's playing basketball with Snoop Dogg and ends up in his arms, giving him a little lick for luck. Spears' camp was able to provide so many alternate versions because directors often shoot a full pass at a song in each costume, and then only use a few moments of it in the finished clip. So while some of the alternate takes of "... Baby One More Time" and "Oops! ... I Did It Again" will look familiar, the videos have been re-cut for a whole new feel. One of those alternate clips, for "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know," makes the most use of Britney's body of work, with the spaceman from "Oops! ... I Did It Again," an opening door from "My Prerogative" and a guy from "Toxic" all making cameos. And though "Outrageous" was never finished, it, too, gets an alternate version. Though the footage was easily accessible, assembling it wasn't so easy. The project took four months to put together, her label rep said, as crews combed through unused footage and edited new versions for some, and used instrumentals and alternate audio in others. There's a new vocal mix for "I'm a Slave 4 U," for instance, and in "(You Drive Me) Crazy," the alternate audio gives the feel of Spears singing the song as a round, where the beat is in sync but one layer of her vocals is just slightly ahead of the other. Not all of the features are going to be easy to find. The DVD provides two menus — one for original versions, one for alternates. But with some digging, fans will also find hidden features, such as a second alternate version of "My Prerogative," consisting entirely of the film shown in the original version, where Spears is seen rolling around on a bed in her underwear. (The first alternate version includes more footage of Spears' husband, Kevin Federline). As many versions as Spears offers, however, there's one that fans have to provide — by singing along. An alternate take of "Toxic" lets you hear the music and see Britney, but no vocals come out of her mouth. And since she's wearing nothing but those infamous diamonds, the guide lyrics help provide some necessary cover-up — try watching that and getting the words right. Source: VH1 News

Britney Designs Corset for Charity

There are corsets designed by celebrities along with Frederick's of Hollywood being auctioned off on Ebay, and Britney Spears is among them. Others include Cyndi Lauper, Susan Sarandon, and Tori Amos. All proceeds will be going to, RAINN, the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network. The newlyweds designed this pink strapless corset, which they title “A Man’s Dream” with white, pink and blue lace across the cups and bodice. Three rhinestone medallions adorn the front reading “Love”, “Sex” and “$”. While rumors are rife that Britney and her long time manager parted ways because he fell out with Britney's new husband Kevin Federline, experts are saying the split took place because Britney is going to go in for an image makeover. According to insiders in the music industry their relationship did not end on a bad note as they have both admitted that it was a mutual decision, it only ended because Brtiney wants to try out a new person with new ideas. "This was absolutely mutual. I felt I had done everything that I could do. We conquered music, film and television. The contract ended, and we decided not to renew it," Star magazine quoted Britney's manager Larry Rudolph as saying. "Sometimes artists feel their career is stagnant, and want to take a leap of faith and try new people with new suggestions. What's the only thing scarier than being pursued by a horny psychotic doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer? Try being pursued by Britney Spears. At least that's what Chucky — star of "Seed of Chucky," the fifth film in the "Child's Play" series — says. For weeks, the diminutive puppet has been dogged by tabloid rumors that he and the Spears are an item, despite both being married (Chucky in 1998 to fellow homicidal toy Tiffany; Spears to fellow sweatsuit enthusiast Kevin Federline this year). Now, he's finally had enough. He's decided to come clean about the whole thing. "I would like to say that [Britney and I] are just friends, but we've moved beyond that. You could say we're 'frienemies.' It's a love/hate thing — mostly hate," he said. "I was talking to J.T. [Justin Timberlake, Spear's ex] about this the other day. The girl acts out, and when she does, you don't see the scars that result — though you do when I act out." This "love/hate thing" might be the reason Chucky pushed to have a controversial scene added to "Seed." As seen in the initial trailer for the film, a blonde driving a silver Mercedes with a California license plate that reads "Britney 1" is run off the road by Chucky as pop music plays in the background. But apparently Focus Features — the company that is distributing "Seed" — doesn't have Chucky's back. Fearing legal repercussions, they've re-cut the spot. In the trailer currently airing on TV, the scene has been cut down, now just featuring a quick shot of the Britney doppelganger. At the end of the spot, a disclaimer reads, "Britney Spears does not appear in this film." "We wanted to make it clear that no actual Britney Spears were harmed during the filming," read a statement from Focus. "However, we can confirm that Chucky does in fact have a crush on Britney — and she has an open invitation to screen the film at any time." "That's a very sweet gesture," said Leslie Sloan, a spokesperson for Spears, when told of Focus' offer. "We'll let Britney know." Despite the humorous back-and-forth between Focus and Britney's camp, it's clear that Chucky feels very strongly about the subject and is quite ready to put all the rumors and speculation behind him. "I've got got stuff going on with my family and my new movie," he said. "And that's much more important than this little pop tart." Fans of both Chucky and Britney are divided on the subject of their alleged romance, and the controversial scene. On CountingDown.com, a movie discussion site, boards were filled with comments from viewers on both sides of the issue. "As a Britney fan I feel sorry for her," one supporter wrote. "Won't 'Seed of Chucky' get sued by Britney Spears?" Another CountingDown member was less kind, writing, "I am very sure she does have a cameo. I'm so happy to see her die in the movie ... who doesn't hate Britney?" That sentiment is apparently echoed by audiences who have watched screenings of the film, which follows Chucky, Tiffany and their evil spawn, Glen, on a murderous rampage through Hollywood. "It's a shame that every time that part comes on, everybody claps. What's wrong with Britney?" said rapper/actor Redman, Chucky's co-star in "Seed." "Chucky runs her off the road. That's the illest part, and [audiences] are like, 'Yeah! Run Britney's ass off the road!'"

Britney is Taking A Fertility Potion

Britney Spears, who recently announced that she is taking some time off her music career to concentrate on making a family, has been seen drinking a concoction to help her get pregnant. Both Britney and new husband Kevin Federline have been knocking back the special drink recommended to them by the locals in Fiji where the couple are currently honeymooning. The brew is called Kava, and Britney's version is a non-alcoholic one. It contains ginseng and damania and is said to enhance beauty and sensuality. Kevin's version also includes epimedium and muira puama which is supposed to increase his sperm count. An insider told The Sun: "Britney has been drinking Kava on a daily basis. She's doing everything she can to prepare herself for having a baby. "The resort bar has been preparing the special Kava mix. Jive Not Expecting Much From Greatest Hits Jive will not have high expectations of Britney's latest album due to the fact that Britney will not be promoting the album. Although Jive isn't expecting much they are hoping for another #1 debut. Still Not Out Of The Zone? Rumor has it that Breathe On Me and I've Just Begun Having My Fun are potential singles off the Greatest Hits. Jive wanted to put Breathe On Me out as a single but it was bumped after Me Against the Music added Madonna and Catwoman wanted Outrageous. The release of the singles will depend on how well each of the two singles that are officially going to be released (My Prerogative and Do Somethin') and if Britney is healed enough to dance in the videos. ...One More Appearance Britney is said to make one more national appearance before going into her "break" this year. She is said to be SNL later this year. Will this be here last appearance for a while? We highly doubt that. Britney Not Satisfied With Album Picture The latest rumors about the Greatest Hits album is that Britney is said to be unhappy with the image that Jive used for the cover. Britney has stated that her blonde days are over and the picture is two years old. Will the album come out with another cover? Remember that these are all rumors.

Britney's Vacation to Fiji Not Good for Tourism

Britney Spears is in Fiji, and that could be bad for Fiji tourism. Why? Because we know about it. And that could spoil her holiday. Travel News Wire reported in its Monday e-mail to subscribers that the South Pacific Tourism Organization is concerned that celebrities won't visit places like Fiji any more if they can't do it privately. Spears flew to Fiji by private jet Monday to spend eight days at a five-star resort owned by the Yasawa Group, which ordinarily promises privacy. But somehow the news got out and the tabloids know she is there. Fijian media reported that Spears, her husband and bodyguard will spend almost $2,000 each per day at the resort just for food and accommodation. "Fiji Visitors Bureau chief executive Viliame Gavoka said details of celebrities were so confidential the bureau did not have any statistics on it," Travel News Wire reported. Usually it only gets out after the fact that Fiji has welcomed celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Pierce Brosnan, Russell Crowe and Mel Gibson. It is a similar story in Hawaii, where Kona International is sometimes billed as the world's busiest airport for Learjets. Many celebrities own getaways in Hawaii, especially on Kauai and Maui, and those who actually live part of the time here, including Oprah Winfrey, Graham Nash and Willie Nelson, often find that local residents help guard their privacy to be neighborly. The Halekulani in Waikiki and the Ko Olina Marriott on West Oahu specialize in sneaking celebrities into Honolulu, and often it is not until singers and actors return to Los Angeles that it is revealed they were here. The Catholic Church is Upset with Britney

The rosary is not a fashion item, the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales says in a leaflet, after David Beckham and Britney Spears were seen wearing them as necklaces and bracelets. The Daily Telegraph reported yesterday that the church had issued the leaflet stressing the religious significance of the rosary after Christian bookshops reported a run on rosaries. The paper published a picture of the England football captain wearing four rosaries around his neck to a party. Shirley Nicholls, manager of the Revelations Christian Bookshop in Ipswich, told the Telegraph: “We have sold more than 100 rosary beads in the past six weeks. We normally sell about three dozen in April and May, when people have them for their first communion, and then the odd one during the rest of the year. “But during the summer, they have been selling like hot cakes and the children keep asking me to order more.” Beckham has appeared on the front cover of the Vanity Fair magazine sporting a Dolce & Gabbana “rosary necklace” worth US$1,000 (RM3,800). Having long been convinced Britney Spears would somehow trigger the apocalypse -- something to do with those cloven hoofs, probably -- we're not at all surprised to hear that the makers of the latest installment in the Child's Play movie series have posited her as surrogate mom to the ultimate bad seed. In Seed of Chucky, a Britney lookalike is impregnated after having intimate relations with the enduring devil doll -- not too much of a stretch, given her flirtations with Fred Durst -- before ultimately driving off a cliff. While the notion of Beelze-sex seemingly didn't faze Spears' minders, they did raise a red flag about the producers' mimicking of "Hit Me Baby One More Time," demanding that the song be axed from the film's trailers -- which is a shame, really, since no one knows their way around a trailer quite like Brit... Fan Opinions: Britney's Letter

As one of the Britney fans who keeps up with Britney news/gossip/rumors, etc every day for the past 10 months or so, I really was not shocked one bit at the 'announcement' that she was going to take a break. I think the ones of us that have been seeing what we have been able to see (in pictures and articles..) could tell she just really wants to be normal now. I don't think her heart is in the business at the moment BUT I do believe she'll be back. Britney deserves a break, she's long overdue for one. As for the "Letter of Truth" and people getting upset because they paid to get it in the fanclub and etc, I think Britney intended to give it to us all at once, but Britney's 'camp' decided not to.. I still think the 'truth' will come out in every update she does, slowly but eventually we'll learn more and more things that was supposed to be in the big letter. Britney has worked hard, she deserves this break, she doesn't have to explain anything to anybody, and I hope she's happier than she could ever be. Honestly, I was expecting a little bit more out of the first "letter of truth". I know there are more to come but I thought this one would be like the ultimate insight and answers to some of the questions we really want to know. I am not sure exactly what I think about Kevin, but Brit loves him and he makes her happy, that's all the matters. Also, I've always believed Britney would make a wonderful mother, she seems to really love children and when you see her with Jamie Lynn you can tell that she has a special quality about her that will make her a great mother. So, when she says she wants to start a family and she's ready to be a mother, I completely support that decision. Lastly, I agree with her attempting to take some time off, but we've seen how that has worked out in the past. Britney has said herself that she can be a workaholic and that not doing anything has been a challenge for her, but with a new marriage and wanting to start a family, this is the perfect time for her to take time off, assess her life and start her family. These projects seem very close to her heart and I believe that she may actually take the time off to make them a reality. Barry Manilow can relate to the pressure Britney Spears is under - because he has been there himself. The veteran crooner says he suffered many of the same problems as the wild child newlywed when he was starting out. The 61-year-old says, "Isn't she mixed up? Too much pressure, much too young. Britney's "Truth" Still to Come?

Several reports and speclations have been flying aound the net these past couple of days stating that the letter Britney posted up on the site, a few days ago, was actually just an update. Many fans have been emailing the cordinator of Britney's Fan Club site. One response that was given included the webmaster saying that "Britney has decided to take a larger roll in her fan club. The Letter of Truth was her idea. It is up to her when it is posted. I am sure she is taking her time writing it because she wants it to be perfect." This may mean this "Letter of Truth" is soon to be posted. More info will be provided as it becomes availiable.

Britney and her new husband Kevin Federline have jetted in to Fiji for their honeymoon on an exclusive island resort. The couple, who exchanged vows last month but didn't formalise their marriage until last week, stepped off a private jet at Nadi airport on Monday. They were dressed casually, with leis draped around their necks and carrying plastic shopping bags. The diva and her dancer husband then transferred to a sea plane and were whisked away to their private hideaway on Turtle Island. The island, the setting for the Brooke Shields movie Blue Lagoon, is a renowned resort specialising in weddings and honeymoons where the very basic lodge costs about $2700 a night. But if the newlyweds really hoped to get away from it all, then they may have taken the option to rent the entire island - a mere $345,000 for the week. Other celebrities who have holidayed there include Nicole Kidman, Ringo Starr, Michelle Pfeiffer and Pierce Brosnan.

The Toxic singer and her new husband Kevin Federline have invited more than 80 guests to the bash later this month and Spears has hinted her ghoulish costume will amaze onlookers. An insider says, "Britney and Kevin have arranged for their house to be decorated with scary statues. They're even planning on having a ghost ride on the grounds. Britney Spears has posted a letter to her fans on her official Web site, saying she's ready for motherhood and that the press can have fun with the "other overexposed blondes." And to take a line from her current single on the charts, Britney also says: "My prerogative right now is just to chill and let all of the other overexposed blondes on the cover of Us Weekly be your entertainment... Good luck girls!" Access Hollywood's Billy Bush asked some of Hollywood's blondes what they thought of Britney's latest decision to take a break. "She's leaving the business and getting out of here. What do you think about that?" Billy asked Pamela Anderson. "I hope she's happy. Good for her. Have a good vacation," said Pamela. Most likely Britney wasn't referring to Pamela in her statement but rather some of her peers such as Paris Hilton, The Olsens and Cameron Diaz. Britney's latest statement comes on the heels of her firing longtime manager Larry Rudolph. In the letter the pop star also says: "It's amazing what advisors will push you to do, even if it means taking a naive, young, blonde girl and putting her on the cover of every magazine." Britney says she wants time to watch reruns of "Sex and the City," see Mandy Moore in "Saved" and just "enjoy the simple things of life." The Hollywood pressure cooker is something most young stars can relate to. "I'm very sympathetic of child stars, of course," Usher told Access. "A break comes in handy after you've put in a lot of work." "It's so intense and it can be so weird sometimes that I just tried to deliberately stop everything, quiet everything down and take some time," added Ben Affleck. And taking time off is just what the 22-year-old pop princess plans to do. Britney has decided to change her focus, saying: "Being married is great and I can't wait to start my family." Britney's making a very smart move. She needs a break! It will end up being a very long break if she decides to become a mother during it, but who cares? She'll be missed, but she needs the time off. Britney Spears is ceding the cover of Us Weekly to "all of the other overexposed blondes." The most overexposed blonde of them all just wants to catch up on Sex and the City. In a long-awaited "letter of truth" posted on her official Website, the honeymoon-bound Spears says she has learned to say "no" to advisors who have long lorded over her career--and "yes" to vacation. "Going & going & going is all I've ever know[n] since I was 15 years old," the pop tart writes in the missive dated Friday. "Right now, I have to go--I really want to watch Saved! with Mandy Moore and reruns of Sex and the City." Spears apologizes to fans if it "seemed like [my life] was all over the place the past two years, it's probably because IT WAS!" The 22-year-old singer is presently on her second marriage of 2004. Her first, to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander, was annulled within 55 hours. Her second, to dancer Kevin Federline, was clouded by questions as to whether or not the union was legit. In her letter, Spears likens a knee injury suffered on a video shoot in June to a sign from "the Man upstairs." "My body was shutting down and needed rest," she writes. "I want to enjoy all of the simple things that I missed over the past few years due to working way too much." It was unclear exactly when Spears planned to start leading the quiet, retiring life. Her new album, Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, is due out Nov. 9. Her 2005 calendar is now on sale. Her new perfume, Curious, is available at fine department stores near you. Her Web musings, she promises, will be posted "as often as possible." If it seems Spears is sending mixed messages to her public, the entertainer notes her "newly found freedom" hasn't been an easy concept for those around her, either. "Its [sic] like people don't know how to act around me," she says. "Should we talk to her like we did when she was 16, or like the Icon everyone says she is?" Spears does not specify which title is her preference. In an interview with Britain's OK! magazine last month, Spears said she'd been working on the letter, which she called "The Letter of Truth: I Hope You Can Handle It," virtually nonstop since attending a "life-changing" performance of the Broadway musical Wicked. She called the drafting of the communiqué an educational--and, yes, "life-changing"--experience. "I feel like I am at Harvard!" she said. In the resulting letter, the would-be Ivy Leaguer shows a firm command of the exclamation point, deploying the emphatic bit of punctuation eight times, and a bold disregard for grammar conventions, routinely uppercasing words to MAKE A POINT and eschewing the spelled-out "and" for an ampersand. A typical bit of Spears prose reads thusly: "Being married is GREAT and I can't wait to start my family!" In her deftest turn, Spears manages to plug her new single (the title track from the best-of CD) and take a crack at Us Weekly, which reported about her last-minute prenup hassles with Federline, in just one sentence. "My prerogative right now is to just chill & let all of the other overexposed blondes on the cover of Us Weekly be your entertainment...GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!!" Spears writes. Ken Baker, West Coast executive editor of Us Weekly, says staffers were debating Monday which "overexposed" cover girls Spears was referencing--"Cameron Diaz, her ex-boyfriend's lover, or Jessica Simpson, the woman who got the role in The Dukes of Hazard that [Spears] really wanted?" For what it's worth, Baker thinks Spears would be wise to "go away" for a while. Britney Spears' 'In The Zone' is back to Brazilian's Top 40 CD Sales again this week (#37), and now 'Hot100Brasil.com' (Brazilian Official Chart) posted that 'In The Zone' has been DIAMOND Certified, confirming 'Notícias Musicais' Unnofficial Chart, which means sales of above 500,000. Britney is the first International Artist to receive the Diamond Certified since 1983 when Madonna recieved it, so she was the most sucessfull artist this year here in Brazil, and probably since 1983. Pop diva Britney Spears arrived at a tropical Fijian island hideaway with her new husband Kevin Federline, Fiji Television reported. Spears secretly wed dancer Federline last month, but failed to formalise the marriage for nearly three weeks, prompting speculation that the nuptials were fake. According to the Fiji news report, Spears flew into Nadi International Airport on a private jet and was taken to Turtle Island, a resort which specialises in weddings and honeymoons and where basic Fijian-style lodges start at 1,975 US dollars a night. The 200-hectare (500 acres) Nanuya Levu Island, as its formally known, is owned by eccentric American millionaire Richard Evanson. Last week Spears and Federline filed their marriage licence with Los Angeles authorities, nearly three weeks after their wedding ceremony. The blond bombshell's spokeswoman Leslie Sloane said the document had been filed well within the official 90-day limit, making the union final. People magazine said the multi-millionaire singer and her far less rich back-up dancer beau formalized their union after signing a prenuptial aimed at protecting Spears' millions. The couple, who began dating in April, married at a surprise ceremony at a friend's Los Angeles home on September 18. But Us magazine later said Spears, 22, and Federline, 26, had staged a "faux wedding." It claimed they delayed formalizing their marriage because their lawyers were still wrangling over how much cash Federline would be entitled to if the marriage collapsed. Britney Spears is taking a break — again. She made the announcement late Friday in a "letter of truth" she posted on her fan site. Her knee gave out on her during the "Outrageous" video shoot (forcing the cancellation of her summer tour) for a reason, she said — so that she would "have no choice but to stop" and give her body some rest. She said she feels like she's missed out on too many of "the simple things" — like being able to watch such movies as Mandy Moore's "Saved" and re-runs of "Sex and the City" because of her nonstop work schedule, which kept her "going and going and going." "It's amazing what advisors will push you to do, even if it means taking a naive young blonde girl and putting her on the cover of every magazine," she wrote. Now, she'd like to "take some time off to enjoy life." "My prerogative right now is to just chill and let all of the other overexposed blondes on the cover of Us Weekly be your entertainment," she wrote. "Good luck girls!" Spears also said that her next project would be focusing on being a wife and hopefully a mother. "I can't wait to start my family!" she wrote. Spears last took a hiatus following her world tour that ended in July 2002. Britney Hits the Right Note It's been 5 years since the image of an innocent eyed catholic schoolgirl dressed in a revealing uniform exploded onto screens accross the globe, leaving men wide eyed and women disgusted. Now, who would have thought 5 years on, 4 multi-platinum albums, 16 amazing singles and 2 world tours later that Britney Spears would be releasing her Greatest Hits album. It's been an incredible journey, and it's all brought together in this; Britney's Prerogative. Opening with the incredible, title-track single My Prerogative, the album establishes Britney's heavy bass-lined pop beats early on in the record. Following My Prerogative comes a string of hits that leaves you thinking; 'I remember that!' With classic pop tunes including Oops! I Did It Again, I'm A Slave 4 U and the suprise hit of 2004, Toxic. Throughout the 18 tracks, whether it be over-produced RnB tracks like Boys, or a sombre ballad like Everytime, you'll definately be singing along to every word. Despite incredible tunes like Stronger and ...Baby One More Time, of course the album hits a few bad patches such as the mediocre, Shania Twain-esque Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know and the down right awful cover of Joan Jett's I Love Rock n Roll. However, overall the album is an asset to any CD collection. Even if you don't like Britney's old material, you'll love her new... Apart from her older hits Britney includes newer tracks including the R Kelly track, Outrageous, the online hit I've Just Begun (Having My Fun) and the brand new song, Do Somethin'; with it's incredible bassline and drum beats, you can easily identify the track with it's producer, Timbaland. Dear Fans, I am going to start writing this column now as often as possible. The reason is so I can talk directly to you, my fans, who have stuck by me & who continue to support me. Also, I'm not going to be as busy as my Mom. She's running behind my sister like crazy! I am also going to take some time off to enjoy life. I've actually learned to say "NO!" With this newly found freedom, its like people don't know how to act around me. Should we talk to her like we did when she was 16 or like the Icon everyone says she is? My prerogative right now is to just chill & let all of the other overexposed blondes on the cover of Us Weekly be your entertainment... GOOD LUCK GIRLS!! I'm sorry that my life seemed like it was all over the place the past 2 years, it's probably because IT WAS! I understand now what they mean when they talk about child stars. Going & going & going is all I've ever know since I was 15 years old. By Michael N. Westley With a grueling tour schedule and the controversy over her recent wedding, it's easy to understand why Utah is a low priority to Britney Spears. Nevertheless, the pop sensation was ordered Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Paul Cassell to explain why she has failed to respond to a complaint filed against her in Salt Lake City almost a year ago. The "Oops . . . I did it again!" diva sailed past the Sept. 1 deadline to reply - her second extension. The case was filed in November, when a Salt Lake County drug manufacturer sought relief from allegations it had improperly used her image to advertise its product. The controversy that landed Spears in a Utah court began with a moment of clumsiness in October 2003, when Spears dropped her purse in London's Heathrow Airport. A flock of paparazzi caught her on her knees, scrambling to herd a pile of diet pills back into their bottle. The diet pills were Zantrex-3, formulated and manufactured in Salt Lake County by Zoller Laboratories LLC, DG Enterprises and Basic Research LLC. The trio of companies sued Spears as a pre-emptive strike after her attorneys accused them of making Advertisement an improper link between Spears and the pills on their Web site. But almost a year later - while the companies' attorneys spent trying to serve Spears with papers - there has been no progress. It appears as though the drug company has gotten what it wanted in the first place - to be left alone. "We are in communication with her attorneys in New York," said Salt Lake attorney Jefferson Gross. Spears has until Oct. 22 to reply to the order. Britney and Christina are Going Head-to-Head Next Month

Long-time rivals Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears are set to go head-to-head in a chart battle next month. Sexy Christina has shifted the release date of her forthcoming single back a week so that it coincides with the debut of her former 'Mickey Mouse Club' co-star's new track. The pop babe's single 'Carwash', a duet with rap star Missy Elliott, will now be released on November 1st - instead of October 25th as originally planned - the same day as newlywed Britney's cover of Bobby Brown's '80s hit, 'My Prerogative', hits the shops. Early reports suggest Christina - whose song is taken from the soundtrack of new animated movie 'Shark Tale' - may just outsell Britney after her track came 19th in a list of the most played songs on radio stations, compared to Britney's single, which was 36th. But Britney - who is seen walking down the aisle with real-life husband Kevin Federline in the raunchy 'My Prerogative' video - has already notched up more number one hits than her pop rival this year. With this mentioned, it is possible to assume that the video will not be in its entirety. The site also gives a list of 10 videos which will contain extra angles and other features. On Tuesday November 9th Britney Spears will release her first official "Greatest Hits" compilation in the form of the CD/DVD Greatest Hits: My Prerogative. The tandem CD/DVD will include Spears' biggest hits including " ... Baby One More Time," "I'm A Slave 4 U" and "Toxic." The release will be a special limited-edition, high-gloss, embossed, mylar digi-pack with a 20 page photo retrospective booklet that includes liner notes. Also, included is a five-song, bonus remix CD. Additionally, the DVD will be interactive. The Plot: BMG set to dedicate its biggest TV spend this year to Britney Spears' forthcoming Greatest Hits set. The slogan "I Love Britney" is set to be drilled into the nation's consciousness in the coming weeks as part of the heavyweght marketing campaign for Britney Spears' forthcoming hits collecion. "It will be the biggest TV spend by BMG this year", says product manager Ben Karter, who is working with the campaign. A number of images from the singer's career will be used to generate a sense of history around the album, which contains 16 UK Top 10 singles, of which six were number ones. "There are six key moments in Britney's image, ranging from the school girl to the PVC catsuit", says Karter. "We will be using these in a massive teaser campaign which will generate a sense of nostalgia for Britney" The week of the album's release will also see an I Love Britney exhibition at London's ICA, featuring some of the singer's most iconic images to date. BMG is also hoping that Britney's forthcoming single, My Prerogative, will hit the number one spot on the day before the album's release on November 8, which will take the singer's tally of UK number ones to three since the start of the year. Britney Spears formalized her marriage to Kevin Federline on Thursday, according to a spokeswoman, the same day the pop princess severed ties with her longtime manager. "All the proper paperwork was submitted" Thursday, said Leslie Sloane Zelnik about the marriage license. "It's all legal." Spears, 22, and Federline, 26, had a secret wedding ceremony Sept. 18 in Los Angeles. But the couple held off having a minister sign their license so that a prenup - signed just before the ceremony, Federline told People- would hold up in court. According to California law, a couple must wait seven days after finalizing a prenupial agreement before they can marry. Otherwise, the deal isn't binding. The couple opted to file their marriage license Thursday under California's confidentiality law, so the document will not be made public. Meanwhile, the couple have called off plans for a wedding reception Oct. 16, their original wedding date. After the tiny September ceremony, the couple told People they would host a larger party later. Spears has been tidying up loads of paperwork recently: • She split last week with her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, who is credited with discovering the then-13-year-old Louisiana singer and building her into one of the most successful pop stars in recent times. In a Thursday statement announcing the end of their nine-year relationship, Rudolph said, "Britney and I simply realized we have done all we can do together." An announcement of a new manager is imminent. • Spears and her husband bought a home in Malibu. "Getting their home in order will be Britney's next project," her mother, Lynne Spears, says on Spears' Web site (www.britneyspears.com) in her final missive "for a while." • Spears has written a letter she plans to post on her Web site soon. It reportedly addresses Spears' feelings about her whirlwind year, which has included two marriages, knee surgery and a canceled tour. The velour-covered duo have had a very public spat over which duvet cover to buy for their new love-nest. On seeing the flowery designs in LA shop Shabby Chic, acne-sporting Brit nearly omigoshed herself into apoplexy. It seems Britney Spears has a bit of worrying to do. Someone is looking to stop Britney from her breaking her own record, and that some is Shania Twain. That's right folks, after seeing her first four album debut at #1 with total sales of over 30 million in the US, Britney might fail for the first time ever to top herself. According to a national album pre-order chart, Brit is currently at #5 all together and #1 for releases on November 9th. However, Shania has leapt to the #6 position all together and #2 for November 9th. It may seem harmless, but Shania is only 113 copies behind the Britster. Which means by the end of this week she could top her. But this could all mean nothing. What really matters is when the albums are actually out. Hit predictors have Britney's 1st week between, 380,000-560,000 and Shania's at 390,000-570,000. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Britney Legally Married

Pop star Britney Spears formalized her union with dancer Kevin Federline Thursday just as she parted ways with the manager who had been guiding her career since she was 13, her spokeswoman said. “All the proper paperwork was dealt with today, filed, done. It’s all legal,” Spears’ publicist, Leslie Sloane, told Reuters when asked whether the singer’s marriage license had been filed. Spears, 22, and Federline, 26, exchanged vows in a secret wedding ceremony in Los Angeles last month. But as People magazine published exclusive photos of the event days later, rival magazine US Weekly cast doubt on the legitimacy of the nuptials, reporting it had obtained documents showing the whole ceremony was fake. Spears acknowledged then that the couple had yet to file a marriage license -- as California law requires within 90 days of the ceremony -- but insisted their wedding was real. She told People they had been legally advised to wait for a grace period after completing their prenuptial agreement to file a wedding certificate.

How low can some people go. This is pathetic, just my opinion. After Britney Spears' wedding invites, roses and bags, her wedding undies have now been put up for auction on E-Bay. According to The Sun, the lacey white shorts and white bra were reportedly taken by a catering assistant at the singer's wedding, who claims to have a staff pass to prove identity. Check the auction out here. Update: Looks like eBay has removed the auction as it's no longer a valid item.

Britney Spears and her long-time manager, Larry Rudolph, have mutually agreed not to renew their 9-year management relationship, ending one of the most successful artist/manager relationships in recent history. Rudolph is credited with discovering Spears, having met her when she was 13 years old. Together they built Spears into one of the most successful musical artists ever, and one of the most recognized celebrities in the world, breaking numerous records along the way including best first new album sales for a female artist (1.3 million for Oops!...I Did It Again) and most albums sold by a solo teen artist with ... Baby One More Time (14M US, 22M worldwide). Rudolph said, "Britney and I simply realized that we have done all we can do together." He cited his desire to "take on new challenges at this point in my career and get back to what I enjoy most -- developing and nurturing young talent and producing television and film projects." "We had a great run and I appreciate all of Larry's guidance over the years. I wish him all of the best," stated Britney Spears. Rudolph currently produces the hugely successful "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" television show on MTV and has a continuing production deal with the MTV Network Group to develop a number of new series concepts. Through his ReignDeer Entertainment Company, Rudolph will be joining forces with Maloof Entertainment, the entertainment production arm of the empire owned by the Maloof family (who also own and operate the Palms Resort &Casino Hotel in Las Vegas) to develop and produce a variety of TV projects. Maloof was quoted as saying, "The Maloof family is thrilled to have Larry Rudolph and his team working with us. We look forward to a long, successful run together." Rudolph's ReignDeer Entertainment has recently signed a number of music artists, including Blu Cantrel and the TrakStarz producing team of Chingy & Houston. He is in discussions with two major artists from Management whose names can't be disclosed at press time and is developing a number of new artists and producing a film project with NASCAR. The break, coinciding with the release of Spears' Greatest Hits: My Prerogative (November 9), will close the book on an amazing first chapter of a remarkable career.

Larry Rudolph No Longer Britney's Manager?

Britney Spears has apparently decided that her relationship with manager Larry Rudolph is sooo "Toxic." A Lowdown spy reports that on Monday, the new wife of former backup dancer Kevin Federline abruptly parted ways with Rudolph, who has managed the 23-year-old pop tart's career since she was 15. Reached for comment yesterday morning, Rudolph told Lowdown, "I'm still her manager. Whatever you've heard is completely false. We're at work on her greatest hits album, to be released on Nov. 16." But a few hours later - after Lowdown placed multiple calls to Spears' associates - he was singing a different tune. "Britney and I simply realized that we have done all we can do together and have amicably parted ways after eight years," Rudolph said through his rep. Lowdown hears that Rudolph and Spears didn't re-up their existing agreement and that his management agreement with the singer runs out at the end of the month. While Rudolph's rep wouldn't comment on the nature of the split, the Lowdown spy was happy to speculate on how Rudolph allegedly sealed his own fate: "Larry forced Britney to get the annulment from [first husband] Jason Alexander. And he forced her to sign a prenup with Kevin Federline." The spy added: "Bryan Spears, Britney's older brother, was always trying to push Larry out of the picture. Bryan has the managing bug." Yesterday, Spears' spokeswoman denied such speculation. "They parted ways amicably, and Britney wishes him the best. Bryan has nothing to do with it. Larry had nothing to do with the prenup." Another Album in the Works?

Wait...what's going on here. Is another album in the works - now or later? This comes from The Sun Newspaper so take it for a grain of salt. Britney has appearantly asked Natasha Bedingfield to write songs for her. What made Britney ask? Well, Britney was impressed by the fact that Natasha's debut album "Unwritten" went to #1. Natasha also co-wrote all of the songs on her debut album. A pal told me: “Britney is starting to think about her next album. She has approached a number of people to submit songs and Natasha was high on the list of those she’s keen to work with. “Britney is constantly looking for more grown-up pop and that is exactly what Natasha manages.”

Britney Spears earns her fourth Mainstream Top 40 hit this year, as 'My Prerogative' begins its chart life at No. 28. Spears is now tied with Usher as the artist with the most chart debuts this year on this tally. Spears also has charted the most songs on Mainstream Top 40 so far this decade, with a total of 14. With 16 charting songs in her career, Spears is in fourth place behind Madonna (24), Janet Jackson (21) and Mariah Carey (20) for the artist with the most charted titles in the history of the chart. Newlyweds Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have a new love nest to call home: a 9,000-sq.-ft., eight-bedroom, eight-bath, gated Malibu spread. Besides a traditional style house built in the 1980s, reports the Los Angeles Times, the 1.5-acre property also includes a garden, pool with spa, tennis court and gym, as well as an outdoor kitchen. The price is said to be around $6.9 million. Federline, 26, and Spears, 22, whose net worth (including real estate) has been placed at $32 million, married on Sept. 18 at a private home in the San Fernando Valley. As PEOPLE reports in its current issue, they spent their first trip as husband and wife in her hometown of Kentwood, La., and took some time shopping: he at Wal-Mart and JC Penney, for hunting equipment and running shoes, and she at Baton Rouge's Mall of Louisiana. But Spears isn't only about buying: Last summer she sold her Hollywood Hills home for close to $4 million, and she recently listed her Manhattan condo at nearly $6 million, says the Times. The bride also can probably count on hanging a gold and platinum record on one of her new walls. Billboard reports that the pop princess has earned her fourth Mainstream Top 40 hit this year, as her cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative" entered the charts at No. 28. Well, it looks like tabloids are not only working a full shift to create and spread rumors but now they're working overtime. Recent rumors are so out there, its hilarious News of the World reports that Britney and Kevin are receiving death threats after getting married. Britney, Not The Next Newlyweds Contradictory to rumors reporting that Britney and Kevin will become the next Newlyweds on MTV, they will not according to Britney's publicist. There has been a lot of this floating on the Internet; I just want to set the record straight. Most of these rumors started to generate from UK tabloids.

Buy An Invite To Britney's Wedding

You can now get your hands on an invitation to Britney Spears' wedding that won't happen -- sort of. The invitation to Spears' wedding with Kevin Federline -- the original one set for Oct. 16, not the surprise one last month -- is for sale on eBay. Bidding starts at $1,500 for the invite. As of this posting, the item has no bids. The seller appears to be someone from Spears' side of the aisle, because the seller claims to live 15 miles from where Spears was raised. In the item description, the seller appears to take a shot at a previous Spears auction, saying they "did not find this invitation laying next to a discarded piece of gum." The seven-day auction ends Tuesday. Meanwhile, Spears' mom says even she was surprised at the surprise wedding. Lynne Spears writes on Britney's Web site they were all surprised, especially "because it is very unlike Britney to be able to keep a secret." Lynne Spears said her first reaction was shock and then, "What about her dress? What about her other plans?" She said the way her daughter and Kevin Federline did their wedding was always her dream -- "small and intimate, with a grand celebration in the works for later." Meanwhile, Britney has mentioned communicating directly with fans and give them the scoop on her wedding -- but it'll cost you. She claims it will be through the fan club site and it charges just under $25 a year to join.

A rap by Britney Spears is about to be released in the US. A Boston DJ called Clinton Sparks has put her on an underground compilation mix CD reports Radio 1. He reckons despite her label not being happy about it, he's going to try and persuade her to do more. "Obviously she has a lot to say. She's been involved in a lot of controversy. If she wants to address that and say stuff right there on the mix tape, because that's what mix tapes are about." Britney's latest single My Prerogative will be released in the UK in November.

While gossip columnists and celebrity magazines may quibble over their marital status, pop star Britney Spears and dancer Kevin Federline are said to have a new mansion in Malibu, Calif., to call home. Purchased by the couple for nearly $6.9 million, the 9,000-square-foot house rests on a gated 1.5-acre lot and features eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms, the Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday. Built in the 1980s, it has a tennis court, pool, spa, gym, gardens and and outdoor kitchen. After their surprise wedding last month, the legality of the union between Spears, 22, and Federline, 26, was questioned. A day after the Sept. 18 ceremony, news reports surfaced that the couple had not yet filed a marriage license, as they are required to do within 90 days under California law. “I know we’re not completely legal until we file the license, which we’ll do next week. But in a real sense, a spiritual sense, we’re married. We’re just following our lawyer’s advice,” Spears told People magazine. Spears’ net worth, including real estate, is estimated to be around $32 million, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Martin Henderson, Britney's kisser in the `Toxic' video has praised Britney for her "very pleasant" kissing skills. Recollecting his "pleasant" experience with Britney, the heartthrob said, "That was a weird day. Lie on the floor, kiss Britney Spears, go home. "She was in weird leather and chiffon wings and every time she went to straddle me, material would drape across my face. Legal Or Not, We're Married

Dancer Kevin Federline says that his September 16 nuptials with pop icon Britney Spears weren't fake, even though they do not have a marriage license. He said that for Britney and him a legal sanction doesn't make any difference and they both consider themselves a married couple as they are currently honeymooning in the 'Toxic' singer's native Louisiana. "We're really married as far as I'm concerned. I don't care what people are saying, it wasn't a fake wedding," Star magazine quoted him as saying. "I'm feeling great. Britney's feeling great. And we're very happy together, so it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks," he added.

Final Lynne's Corner on October 1, 2004

Dear Fans, Wow! I know I've said we've had a whirlwind week before, but this one took the cake! We were ALL surprised!! And that's really saying something because it is very unlike Britney to be able to keep a secret. My first reaction was shock and then lingering thoughts of "what about her dress?" "what about the other plans?" and so on. Then I started thinking about how Jamie Lynn was getting her hair done and would be late to the ceremony! It's quite a distance from the hair salon to the wedding site and we were all getting antsy, but then Jamie Lynn arrived and we hurried to get her ready. There were happy tears and "congratulations" all at the same time. I must say, even with all the unexpected- it was a very beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony. We had a brilliant wedding planner. You know, the kind of wedding Britney had- small & intimate, with a grand celebration in the works for later, was always my dream and I couldn't have been happier with how Britney and Kevin chose to do it. I haven't forgotten about sending the fan club wedding photos-- Britney and I are sorting through them and will have some for you all to see very soon! On top of it all, Britney and Kevin have a brand new beautiful home which they are going to be moving into. Besides being a gorgeous house, the location is actually what we love about it most. It reminds us of the kind of landscaping you would find in rural Mississippi- with the creek, trees and overgrown greenery. Getting their home in order will be Britney's next project. Jamie Lynn is back in her usual day to day school routine with ball games, cheerleading and school work. It's been wonderful having Britney and Kevin with us at home for a while. We've even all had a few fun moments with the paparazzi! Thanks to all of you who've purchased Britney's "Curious" products- we've heard the stores have surpassed their sales goals, so thank you again!! Also, "My Prerogative" hit number 2 on TRL last week- yeah! Keep voting, fans! Finally, I'm sure you've heard how excited Britney is about communicating with all of you directly through her website and fan club. So, this is going to be my final "Lynne's Corner" for a while. I'll still be doing little projects here and there for the website and fan club- so it will be something fresh and new for us all! Thanks for all of your love and support fans, and thanks for reading- I have enjoyed filling you all in on the many events of the Spears family. * Fans are definitely going to miss Lynne's thoughts and experiences because she always gave us a different perspective on all the different events that have occurred over the last few years. Hi Everyone!~ I just wanted to let ya'll know that I am still working on my first posting for the website and I'm really excited about it! We are going to be putting "Lynne's Corner" on hold soon- so that way I can talk to you directly. I'm going to be doing updates about what's going on, things I'm currently working on and I was also thinking about starting a section that has my favorite things of the month. It'll include different restaurants I've found, movies, CD's, bands, clothing designers, stores, beauty, fashion, travel, different recipes - stuff like that. What do ya'll think? Some of it will be posted on the fan club first, to give you guys the chance to read it before everyone else and then we'll put it up on the main site a little bit later. But, I still need a little more time to put the finishing touches on my first letter- so please be patient with me and I promise to have something ready to go up soon! Love, Britney
