Britney Buys A New Dog

Posted by Amar at 6:10 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Looks like Britney has started shopping for Christmas. First gift, a new dog. Thanks to Lime-Light and from our Britney Spears Forum we have 84 pictures. Britney and husband, Kevin, stopped in a Malibu pet store yesterday to buy a new dog with an entire wardrobe. Britney bought a brand new 4 week old female Chihuahua pup after reports that say she entered the pet store to only buy a dog coat for her maltese terrier; however she fell in love with the hairless pup much to husband Kevin's disapproval.

Britney Drops Another Baby Hint

Posted by brandon at 12:41 AM | Comments

Rumors  Britney Spears has surprised a huge amount of fans by dropping a hint that she is expecting a baby.

Britney Spears said she couldn't wait to become a mum in a bombshell letter dedicated to her mother. She says: "I relate to her so well because she's a young mom. A lot of people think you should wait until you're older before you have kids.

Britney said "I've had a career since I was 16, I have travelled the world and back and even kissed Madonna!

"The only thing I haven't done so far is experience the closest thing to God and that's to have a baby. I can't wait!

"To be a really good mom, I feel a child needs to be your full-time job. I want to raise my kids and share all of those precious moments with them and not rely on nannies."

The letter is written on Britney's official fan club website.

She also says in the letter: "Cooking is kind of like motherhood. To be really good at it, you don't need instructions. You just go on instinct and what feels right."

Britney is 22, she married dancer Kevin Federline in Los Angeles this year.

Jessica Takes A Whiff of Britney

Posted by Amar at 6:07 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Looks like Jessica is taking a whiff of Britney lately. Jessica, who is in Baton Rouge, Louisana filming "The Dukes of Hazzard," was spotted in a local mall smelling Britney's perfume "Curious." "She smelled Britney Spears," a Foley's store sales associate tells PEOPLE, though Simpson didn't end up buying any.

Why I Still Love Britney Spears

Posted by Kaos at 2:24 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Out Magazine has an article up that reports It may not be cool to say it, but it’s true: I still love Britney. Granted, every syllable out of her mouth is grist for the gossip mill. Yes, every move she makes becomes cover fodder for Star or Us Weekly. Sure, a demonic doll runs her car off the road in Seed of Chucky. And, OK, her taste in men is questionable at best. She even won a recent Out.com poll asking, “Who Are You Most Sick of Hearing About?” But say what you will, Britney is a Madonna for the ’00s.

Now before all you pop purists freak out and call me a traitor, pointing out how Madonna is unquestionably more talented, smarter, and all in all a better human being, hear me out. When the former Mouseketeer released her debut album, …Baby One More Time, back in 1999, people scoffed that it would be the last we’d hear of the pop tart, that she wasn’t legitimately talented, that she was pushing people’s buttons with her scanty wardrobe. Wow. It all sounds mighty familiar. A gazillion sales later, Britney is still with us, making covers of magazines just for being Britney—and for making a few interesting life choices.

Four albums into her career, Brit released a Greatest Hits CD in November. People crack, “She’s 22! How can she have a greatest hits CD?” Laugh it up, but Madonna had released only four complete albums (not counting soundtracks to which she contributed) when she released her first greatest hits disc, The Immaculate Collection.

And the girl makes great music. Out of the box with “…Baby One More Time,” she captured the imagination of young girls (and gay boys) everywhere. She even inspired an indie film, Britney, Baby, One More Time, about a drag queen who longs to meet the demi-diva. This year, Spears had her “Vogue” (easily Madonna’s most innovative single) with “Toxic,” which Out and Village Voice columnist Michael Musto called “the best song of the last 140 years.”

She may have pissed some people off, vaguely supporting George W. Bush in Fahrenheit 9/11 (“Honestly, I think that we should just trust our president and every decision he makes”), but Madonna has always been outspoken about her political beliefs too (remember when she wrapped herself in that American flag and told people to vote?). OK, so Britney was praising a jerk. But it’s Britney, for Pete’s sake. You just can’t stay mad at her for long.

It’s easy to talk about how much Madonna embraced her gay fans because, well, she did. But Madonna grew up around gay men (including her brother Christopher) and was a sassy single girl living in New York City, going to dance school, and partying at clubs in the ’80s. Britney (who has performed at some gay clubs) was raised in the conservative South. You can hardly blame her for being a little late to the gay-is-good bandwagon.

People take potshots at Brit for her nanosecond marriage to old friend Jason Alexander (not the Seinfeld star), her flings with Colin Farrell and Fred Durst, her relationship and sensational breakup with Justin Timberlake, and, most recently, her entanglement—I can’t think of a better word—with dancer and latest husband Kevin Federline. But until recently, has Madonna fared any better at love? I mean, really, Maddy’s ups and downs with Sean Penn were as ubiquitous in the tabloids as the Spears and Timberlake affair. And Brit’s dabblings with Fred Durst are certainly no more embarrassing than Madonna’s with Vanilla Ice (Durst being infinitely more talented). And who can blame a girl for hooking up with Colin Farrell? It’s a lot like Madonna living out the fantasies of every middle-aged woman (and some men) by dating playboy Warren Beatty. Granted, Brit pulled the quickie wedding trick, which (unknown to her, I’m sure) is a slap in the face to every committed gay couple in America who can’t get married. But c’mon, hets get unwisely married and divorced in Vegas all the time. Heck, even Ross and Rachel got hitched in a drunken quickie marriage on Friends. It can happen to the best of us.

At the very least, Kevin is, for the moment, making Britney happy. And that’s good enough for me.

What’s so brilliant about Madonna is that she saw it all before we did. We thought Maddy was playing with us when she wore a T-shirt emblazoned with Brit’s name at her 2000 Roseland Ballroom concert in New York City. Little did we know that (as usual) the Material Girl was way ahead of us all. Maddy and Brit’s confluence (the smooch at the VMAs, dueting on “Me Against the Music,” and kabbalah) only furthers the point: They are cut from the same cloth, a couple of decades apart.

I can only imagine what the future might bring as Spears continues to reinvent herself. Will she persevere with her burgeoning film career (say what you will, I own Crossroads on DVD)? I’d suggest that she do her own take on the Sex book, but since Paris Hilton beat her to the punch—on video, no less—I doubt there’s anything left for Britney to explore in that particular arena. Madonna helped bring S/M to the masses, so maybe it’s time for the Britster to don a leather catsuit and whip some slaves into shape. Just a thought. And I can only hope that one day she finally settles down with a nice Guy…er, guy.

So scoff all you like. Britney is here to stay. And I, for one, am glad.

Is Britney Spears in the family way?

Posted by Amar at 4:25 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Britney Spears sure is sounding like someone who’s in a family way.

The newlywed singer, who is widely rumored to be pregnant, has posted a message on her subscription-only fan site, in which she rhapsodizes over the joys of staying home and cooking, advocates having children while you’re still young, and proclaims that mothers shouldn’t work outside the home. Spears recently announced that she was taking at least a few years off before touring again.

“A lot of people think you should wait till you’re older to have kids,” Spears writes. “I’ve had a career since I was 16, have traveled around the world & back and even kissed Madonna! The only thing I haven’t done so far is experience the closest thing to God and that’s having a baby. I can’t wait!” The “Toxic” singer opines that it’s important to have children when you’re young — like her own mother, who “looked sexy in her black dress [when she went to church and] would come home and put on her size 2 shorts and a bikini top to wash the car & get a tan at the same time.”

Spears also has comments that are not likely to endure her to career moms. “To be a really good mom, I feel your child needs to be your fulltime job,” she writes. “I want to raise my kids and share all of those precious moments with them and not rely on nannies.”

Britney Hasn't Lost Her Touch

Posted by Kaos at 3:26 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  This Is London reports Britney Spears confounded her critics by carrying away the best female singer award at the ceremony last night.

Music pundits had claimed she had lost her touch since her marriage to Kevin Federline, but the prize proved she is far from a spent force.

The absent star said in a recorded message: 'I'd like to thank my fans for supporting me. I wish I could be there and I promise that I'm there in spirit.' The award came after a rough year for the 22-year-old. Her recent tour ended abruptly following a leg injury and she shocked fans by getting hitched in Las Vegas and annulling the marriage hours afterwards. Since her second marriage, to Federline, she has shunned the limelight, saying she wants to focus on her relationship.

Gamespot Confirms New Britney Game

Posted by brandon at 8:03 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Yes, yes, THQ takes full advantage of its Britney Spears rights, and gives us a brand new game to launch on the Nintendo DS, Playstation 2, Gamecube & Xbox.

Britney will strut her stuff in full 3D next spring, the oldie songs will be there but now with such hits as Toxic, Me Against the Music, Outrageous & unreleased bonus album tracks from her last LP "In The Zone".
There will also be special bonus material for fans who progress through the game such as special DVD quality clips from her Miami show earlier this year taped for Showtime where you will be able to control the camera & mini bonus games such as Dress Britney (we like the sound of that one) & Remix A Track. Weirdly enough there isn't a minigame for a quickie marriage, but we'll let the real Britney take care of that one.

You will be able to play against or with your friends & strangers using the Xbox live service, and LAN with Gamecube & PS2. On the DS you can dance with upto 16 friends with no wires, when using the DS wireless mutiplayer mode.

Thanks to *Addicted2Brit* from our Forums for the info

P.S. I'm back and better than ever! Expcet my usual posting habits. Also, on a side note, i've been promoted! You can now find me moderating in our Forums. :)

Britney Finally Legally Married

Posted by Amar at 12:39 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  The "Oops! ... I Did It Again" singer, 22, married Federline during a September 18 ceremony in a Studio City home, but didn't immediately file the license with the county, raising questions about whether they were legally wed.

Kathy Tacawy, a county registrar's spokeswoman, confirmed the documents were filed in Los Angeles County within the 10-day legal window. She said the marriage was official, but declined to comment further and wouldn't say when the documents were filed.

A Spears' spokeswoman had previously said the couple had filed the marriage license, but county officials hadn't confirmed it.

Federline, 26, has said the delay in filing the paperwork was caused when the couple moved up their wedding date as word leaked out that they were planning to be married on October 16. Moving the date up a month, he said, didn't give their lawyers time to finish their prenuptial agreement.

In a recent posting on her Web site, Spears wrote: "This is the happiest I've ever been in my life. ... We are just settling into our new home and it is coming together perfectly.

"I'm redecorating a lot of things because when we decide to start a family, everything in it needs to be perfecto!"

Her new album, "Britney Spears Greatest Hits: My Prerogative," was released November 9.

In January, Spears married childhood friend Jason Alexander in a surprise wedding in Las Vegas. That marriage was annulled 55 hours later.

Federline was previously involved with actress Shar Jackson of TV's "Moesha." They have two children -- a 2-year-old and a newborn.

Britney's Career: The College Years

Posted by Amar at 7:50 PM | Comments

Rumors  I really want to stress that this is gossip and rumors

Pop superstar Britney Spears is going back to college in an effort to line up a career when her pop fame fades.

The 23-year-old newlywed has enrolled at Pepperdine College near her Malibu, California, home and is intent on having different employment options - because she's tired of seeing her face splashed across newspaper and magazine covers.

A source reveals, "Despite all the money she has, Britney is getting bored. She is enjoying her current newlywed status, but even she knows that fame won't last forever.

"She wants to start a family, but sees combining that and studying a perfect way to spend married life."

Britney Buys Dad Restaurant In Venice

Posted by Amar at 4:10 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Britney has bought her dad a restaurant in Venice. Appearantly, Jamie Spears has a passion for food and while visiting the restaurant, called JJ Chill, a chilli and smoothie store, she bought it. JJ Chill is located in the heart of Venice Beach. As they left Britney took some of the chilli with her.

Other reports coming in say that the restaurant has been open for only three weeks and that it was bought by Britney to help her father, Jamie, who was admitted in a local rehab clinic for alcoholism. Britney along with her husband Kevin stopped in on the way back from dropping off Kevins children at mother Shar Jacksons Long Beach house.

London Art Critics Mad At Britney

Posted by Amar at 6:10 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Britney Spears is upsetting art critics in London, who've taken issue with an exhibition of pictures of the singer taken by David LaChapelle and Herb Ritts called "I Heart Britney" at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. In response to the criticism, the singer's record label reps have countered that the museum is the "most fitting place in London for a Britney Spears exhibition," since it's known for being "up-to-date, edgy and cool."

Greatest Hits, A Hit On Sales

Posted by Amar at 3:46 PM | Comments

Rank  She’s all set to embark on a two year break from the music industry, in order to enjoy married life, and, if some reports are to be believed, motherhood. And it seems UK fans of the new Mrs Federline are determined to give her a send off to remember.

Midweek sales suggest that Britney Spears’ Greatest Hits album ‘My Prerogative’ is set to give the 22-year-old pop princess her very first No.1 album in the UK. With projected sales of 130,000 the collection, which includes the likes of ‘Lucky’, ‘Oops I Did It Again!’ Madonna duet ‘Me Against The Music’, and of course ‘Baby One More Time….’, is well ahead of Britney’s nearest rivals, Westlife, who return as a quartet with Rat-Pack album ‘Allow Us To be Frank’.

The disc has already become the singer’s first No.1 album in Japan. While the American singer has enjoyed an unprecedented 4 consecutive number one albums with her first 4 releases in her homeland, Britney’s success in the UK album chart has been more muted. Her first two releases ‘Baby One More Time…’ and ‘Oops! I Did It Again!’ both stalled at No.2. Her most recent studio album, ‘In The Zone’ was a relative flop, reaching no higher than No.13, though the release did spawn two consecutive chart topping singles, ‘Toxic’ and the pensive ballad ‘Everytime’.

In all Britney has enjoyed five UK chart topping singles. Current release, 'My Prerogative’, a cover of Bobby Brown’s 1989 hit, entered the charts last Sunday at No.3, behind new releases from Eminem and Destiny’s Child. But while Britney has a sizable head start, there’s one individual hoping to seize the number one spot himself. ‘Encore’, the fourth release from Eminem is released this Friday, having been brought forward several days due to internet piracy. While this will only give the rapper two days of sales to count toward this Sunday’s album chart, demand for the release is likely ensure it gives Ms Spears a run for her money.

"Honeymoon Poem" by Britney Spears

Posted by brandon at 6:23 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Honeymoon Poem

A honeymoon at last, to get away from it all
My assistant Fe gave me the call.

I remember it well, as she was smilin'
She said it was called Turtle Island.

I packed my bags light and quick,
Then grabbed my pink dress & favorite lipstick.

We hopped on a plane and took our flight
I slept really well, all through the night.

As we arrive, I turn and look out the door,
People are greeting us right at the shore.

A meal, a shower and some ice cream
Then I threw my man down, you know what I mean!

Magical nights filled with stars
Silence is golden, no running cars.

Private dinners, romantic fires
Little piece of heaven, whatever your heart desires.

Friendly "hellos" and never goodbyes
When you're having fun, oh, how time flies!

As we sit and prepare to make our part
I thank you, Turtle Island, with all my heart!

~ Britney

Miscellaneous  hey,

this is marissa a 14yr old girl. i loved britney ever since her first song came out. i dint care what she does because we all do it sometime or another. i bought the CD and it is great and my prerogative is a great song. i will always look up to britney because she is a great singer and she doesnt take all the tabloeds to bad. i would probly be mad if they followed me too. well g2g. i just would really love to get an e-mail from brit but if i did i would probly think that it was not her. my mom had cancer last yr and she would of died it it was not for the kemo and radiation, she had servical cancer. i would cry all the time.... but she is ok now and i just went crazy! bye love ya brit always...

I love Britney's Greatest Hits album. I think I've Just Begun(Having My Fun)
could easily become one of my favorite songs and the DVD is even better. Even
though I am such a Britney fan, I have always regretted that I have not seen a
lot of her music videos because I was too young to know what MTV was, but now
I can see them all and it's great!! I love it!!

I think that Britney done us all a great favor with the release of GH:MP CD/DVD. Now, instead of having to shuffle through 4 cds, we get the top songs (all of em's my fav, but u know what i mean!) all on one loaded CD! I purchased the limited edition from circuit city and, as i expected, it was truely a work of art! It came in a fold-out case(which kinda surprised me), with the book in a folder behind the cover! I popped the cd in and from the moment i paid the $9.99, I fell in love with it! The songs on the album all are fantastic! Expecially "I've Just Begun" and "Do Somethin'"(My Personal Favorite!) The 2nd CD (Limited Edition Remixes) Was graced with pictures of all her CD singles on front of the cd! The Remixes and the Megamix didn't fail to deliver either! But, with it being Britney Spears, who would expect it not to! The Whole Album and Remix CD deserve five stars, two thumbs up, and a huge standing ovation wouldn't hurt either!!

Hi, My name is Brendon from Or;abdo,Florida and i am 12.I got the greatest hits cd and dvd on Nov.9.the dvd is so cool. it is the best album and dvd yet.I love you britney spears.

Hey Britney. I just bought your new cd yesterday. I love it. I love all those songs now im just waiting to get paid so i can go out and buy the dvd. I hope to see you in concert someday. I love ya gurl.

Britney Has A Greater Lead For #1 Album In UK

Posted by Kaos at 11:54 AM | Comments

Rank  Britney pulls away and now has a greater lead for the #1 album spot... however with Eminem released on Friday she could be knocked to #2 which is more than likely I'm afraid.

The album is still on task to sell over 100k in it's first week, making the greatest hits Britney's biggest selling opening week after Oops sold 89k when released in 2000.

Thanks to mu$!cFan:uk for posting in the forums.

Oops!... The Greatest Hits Did It Again!

Posted by Kaos at 11:34 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous  BSO has learned that the cd and dvd of the Greatest Hits are not perfect. In the European version of the cd, it labels Overprotected (Darkchild Remix) when it in fact it is the album version. In the limited edition cd, the Everytime remix has Britney saying "Everytime I try to you in my dreams" instead "Everytime I see you in my dreams." The dvd has numerous errors in spelling on the Toxic alternate version. You're is spelled your and some of the chorus is not even correct.

Hey Britney. I just bought your new cd yesterday. I love it. I love all those songs now im just waiting to get paid so i can go out and buy the dvd. I hope to see you in concert someday. I love ya gurl.
From your #1 Fan. Jennifer

I have been a Britney fan every since she first hit the scene. I mean, how can you not be? What with the sassy looks, sexy dances, and catchy tunes, Britney has had a huge impact on my life! So, when she announced that her fifth album would be a Greatest Hits album, you can only imagine how disappointed I was. I was in desperate need for some NEW Britney material, and all I was going to get was a Greatest Hits CD?
I then heard about her remaking My Prerogative! Already a fan of the song, I was ecstatic. My favorite singer remaking one of my favorite songs! I could only imagine what Britney had in store, and boy, was I ever suprised!
I purchased the Greatest Hits CD yesterday and I have listened through the whole thing. I thought that this would be a great time for me to give my opinion on it and how I feel about our fabulous Britney right now.

#1) My Prerogative-WOW WOW WOW! I have heard many remakes in my day; some good, some bad. This one definately tops my good list! Britney totally took this song and made it her own! If you didn't know this was originally Bobby Brown's song, you would have thought that it was just another Britney classic! The effects and the sounds of her voice sound awesome. I have heard many comments about this song. I have heard that Britney is too young of an artist to do a remake of a song by someone like Bobby Brown. I have heard that Bobby Brown's version is a lot better. Here is how I put it: Bobby Brown's version was good for the 80's/early 90's, and Britney's version is correct for this day and time. Music has changed so much, and Britney nailed this one right on. This song shows how Britney style in music is changing and how she wants to represent herself now. She is saying that she doesn't give a damn what people think about her--Britney is Britney and that's a beautiful thing to see an artist be herself, and not what her record label wants her to be. *cough* Jessica Simpson *cough*

#2.) Selection of songs-Some excellent choices. However, I want to know why Outrageous is on there! Can Outrageous really qualify as a hit? You hardly ever hear it on the radio. Nobody really knows the song. There is not even a VIDEO for it!(which I know is beyond Britney's control). Why can't a different song like Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know or >From the Bottom of My Broken Heart be on there? Everyone knows those songs! I do like how the first 6 songs are all fast and upbeat and then is slowed down with Everytime. Very cool. I just don't think Outrageous should be on there. That's just me!

#3.) I've Just Begun Having My Fun-Um......What can I say about this song? It reminds me SOOOO much of Hella Good by No Doubt. I can understand why she did not want this song on In The Zone. It is almost TOO popish, which is the image Britney is trying to get away from. It's fun to sing along to, I suppose, but DEFINITELY not a hit.

#4.) Do Somethin'-OMG OMG OMG! I LOVE THIS SONG! This will definitely be a radio hit! It's such a fun song. It almost reminds you of Toxic, but it's almost better! The vocals are so much different from what we have heard Britney do in the past. I really hope Britney releases this song. It will THEN be a hit!

Altogether, it is a very cool thing to see this young lady grow up. It's hard to imagine that Britney has only been a star for 5 years(less than 2,000 days according to the album booklet). It's very cool to see her now and be able to reminisce on the past with this album. I definitely suggest going out to buy it! It will be a good purchase.

Sincerely,
Brandon

“Right on Time”

All I've read regarding this album is "rockist"
propaganda about how Britney is too young/too
inexperienced/too "horrible" to have released a
greatest hits album...

...look at the numbers, buddy, and read the track
listing. Any casual radio listener will recognize
almost every track--a feat rarely accomplished by
collections from other artists. Brit is the only
female artist in history to have every album
(including this one?) debut at number one, as well as
selling over 40 million albums. In the one-hit wonder
pop landscape, Britney is already a historical
landmark.

As for the album itself, one could hardly ask for
more. As previously mentioned, we get every major song
she's released (including, to my dismay, the
"Outrageous" single--a horridly executed track Jive
pushed down our throats to capture a
demographic--while excluding the fantastically
underrated "Born to Make You Happy" and the
unimpressive ballads "Don't Let Me Be the Last to
Know" and "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart").

Additionally, we receive 3 new tracks. To follow the
recent trend of
80s-covers-as-greatest-hits-album-singles (No Doubt,
Korn), Britney offers her sexy romp "My
Prerogative"--fun, but not worthy of eponymy. Rounding
out the album is "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)," an
outtake from "In the Zone" that was downloaded so many
times (mistakenly, by fans seeking the greatest hits
single) that it was added, and "Do Somethin'," a track
produced by the makers of "Toxic" that is quickly
becoming my fave Brit track EVER.

That's right, 14 TRACKS you know (and love!) plus 3
NEW ONES, 2 of which are good and ONE THAT'S AWESOME.
Again, quite a feat for a greatest hits album.

Then there's the matter of the remix CD...I already
own 2 of the remixes, and "Breathe on Me" redux falls
quite short of the brilliant original. The "Megamix"
is as cheesy and fun as you expect...but the
"Outrageous" remix is unbelievably great--it joins the
small pantheon of songs "better than the original."

So in short, anyone who is not completely insecure
about enjoying fantastic pop music will find this disc
in their stereos for a while. Buy it, import it, IPOD
it, and buy the DVD. VIVA LA BRITNEY!!!

First and foremost let me beign by saying that there is not one day that passes by that I don't check this site out. You guys are the best... at Britney news and updates. So I would like to personally say Thank you, for making everyday, a new day of Britney Facts. I wanted to write and say that I too had a count down to her release. I love the new CD and DVD in two words "The Bomb". I was at Best Buy right after work.... and they had told me that it was sold out I'm like..... Shut up... but the guy bought a brand new box out and I was at relief... lol... The pictures are amazing and the quality is at its best. Britney is Beautiful and she does it everytime.... she comes out with a bang... man that mega mix is hott. Anyways I can say that I am a true Britney Spears fan and Maybe not the #1 cause the world is huge and god only knows what other Britney Fans have or do... but I even have Britney Parties with all my friend and dance team... I have everything of Britney from the The paint on the wall which an artist did for me and its her In The Zone cover picture..... to the Bed sheets of my bed. I have everything and I mean everything of her Thanx to E-Bay and all those other Britney Sites.... So anyways I just wanted to tell my story and give my opinion...

Take care everyone

Jo-Jo.... From Miami

I ran over to circuit city here in Chicago and they didn't have neither the CD nor the DVD on the shelf. This was at 5 PM. They did find me both after about 20 mins. They were both behind the register. They said the DVD was the last one they had. I was quite shocked they didn't have a whole bunch. The DVD is absolutely hot. I couldn't be happier with the layout, extras, etc. The CD I haven't really listened too much yet. I listened to it on Rapsody this morning and loved the bonus disc. Can't wait to get it in my IPOD. Also, the packaging of both the DVD and CD is absolutely INCREDIBLE! The best I have ever seen (and I have over 300 CD's).

As a fan since the release of Britney’s first album, you will relive memories that you and Britney have experienced together, as a team. Memories of happiness and youth will come back to many of you as you remember the first time you heard …Baby One More Time on your car’s radio. Brandon’s Review: You may think you have seen all of Britney’s videos, but you haven’t seen them like this before. As you watch the DVD, you will back track through Britney’s career, reliving her video through a special, moving time line. Beginning with My Prerogative, you will watch her moving in water, on a bed, and dancing in front of Kevin. In the alternate view version, experience My Prerogative in a whole new light. Watch her video entirely from the bed scene, watch background action from a digital camcorder, and get to see Kevin in a more personal way. Next you’ll see salvage video from Outrageous, including the basket ball scene. Even though Outrageous never made the final cut, it even has its own alternate version, which includes the street dancing scene. Next is Everytime with its alternate version of her in the hallway. I’d have to say that Toxic, the next video, is the best feature on the DVD. For some boys and girls, this will make you go crazy! See Britney gyrating and dancing only wearing the diamonds. To cover up her breast, this version is made into a karaoke. Next you will relive Britney’s famous duet with Madonna as you watch Me Against the Music.

When Boys plays, you are reminded of Britney’s third album, which is then followed by the European Release Only video, I Love Rock and Roll. Next you relive Britney’s first movie, Crossroads, with the I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman video. For you UK fans, the next video is a treat for you; Overprotected (The Darkchild Remix). Don’t worry US fans, you get a special treat with the European Release Only video of Overprotected. Beginning her third era, I'm A Slave 4 U video includes an acapella version, as well as the extended club scene with her dancing in front of the camera.

Next up is Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know, which marks the end of the Oops era. It has alternate views which allow for clips of behind the scenes and extended clips. The next video, Stronger, includes alternate outtakes from the filming. Next, Lucky will bring back memories of Britney’s innocence, but you are then reminded that she is “not that innocent” in Oops!...I Did it Again. In this video, the alternate view includes her dancing in the cat suit in front of the camera, as well as outtakes from the filming, and making hilarious faces.

Following her transition from not being innocent, we are revisited by Britney’s innocence in Born To Make You Happy, which was an European Release Only video. From the Bottom of My Broken Heart follows the (You Drive Me) Crazy (The Stop Remix!) video. The alternate takes of this video include an alternate audio which may seem a little strange, for her voice doesn’t match the video. Remember the infamous crotch scratching scene? Well now you can revisit it with the next video for Sometimes. Last but not least, the video that began it all. Ending the DVD with …Baby One More Time will cause a sudden rush of Britney memories. This is where it all began. It doesn’t seem like it has been six years, but it has. Watch Britney in her Catholic school outfit, shaking her stuff. In the alternate versions, see Britney dancing half the song in the hallways, as well as dancing its entirety outside in the courtyard.

Think I’ve told you everything? You wish! Have fun exploring on your own, finding hidden things when you least expect it. Expect this DVD to keep you busy for hours on end! I guarantee that by the end, you will be Britneyed out, at least for that day ;)

E! Online Reviews GH:MP

Posted by brandon at 8:25 PM | Comments

Rank  Our Grade: B

Britney Spears has announced that she needs to take a break from stardom to spend time with her new hubby and stepkids. It sounds like the perfect time to...put out an album? Granted, it's one of those cash-cow greatest-hits jobs, but she did lift a finger for a couple new songs. The collection tracks Brit's route from her "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman" phase to her "I don't wear shoes, and I throw stuff at the paparazzi" phase with surefire numbers like "...Baby One More Time" and "Toxic." Thankfully, she skips her crap cover of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" to make room for a sleazy reworking of "My Prerogative," some remixes (if you spring for the double-disc version) and dance-tastic "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)" which includes lyrics like "I wanna shop around/I've just begun/Don't wanna settle down." Whoa. Now we're totally confused.

Britney Exhibition Criticized

Posted by brandon at 7:51 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  One of Britain's leading art galleries has been attacked by critics for hosting an exhibition of pictures of Britney Spears.

"The I Heart Britney" show opens today at the Institute Of Contmpory Arts in London and is free to the public.

It includes shots of the pop princess taken by top fashion snappers including David LaChapelle and Herb Ritts alongside other photos of Spears that have appeared in the world's media - including her famous Rolling Stone magazine front page and a snap of her controversial kiss with Madonna at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards last year.

Critics have accused the ICA of using the sexy singer to boost its image.

But a spokeswoman for record company BMG - which has hired the gallery for the private exhibition - insists, "It is the most fitting place in London for a Britney Spears exhibition - the ICA has a history of exhibiting popular art and photography. This is a major exhibition and the ICA is well known for being up to date, edgy and cool."

Hurtful Britney Quotes Axed from New Autobiography

Rumors  Pop-superstar Justin Timberlake has delayed his eagerly-awaited autobiography because he wants to 're-adjust' chapters regarding his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears.

The 23-year-old Rock Your Body hitmaker called publishers to change the self-titled book, shortly after the Toxic singer married dancer Kevin Federline in September, reports British newspaper The Daily Star.

A source says, "We hope he doesn't change too much as the first version was really amazing - although it may upset Britney."

CNN Review: A Britney best-of? Already?

Posted by Rajiv at 4:31 PM | Comments

Music  CNN already has put up a harsh review of Britney's Greatest Hits album. But it's ok because a lot of people have had a problem with Britney's careet but this album is for Britney's fan, fans who appreciate and love all her music.

"People can take everything away from you, but they can never take away your truth," Britney Spears insists breathily at the beginning of her greatest-hits collection, sounding like a pop-star version of Dr. Phil.

"But the question is," she continues, "can you handle mine?"

Tough question, especially coming from someone who's notorious for lip-synching her way through performances, and who utters those words at the start of a song that isn't even one of her own greatest hits, but a cover of somebody else's: Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative." We wouldn't know her truth if it were a boa constrictor squeezing us around the neck at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The idea of Britney releasing a greatest-hits disc after only five years in the cultural consciousness seems premature. The Rolling Stones should put out a best-of collection. Barry Manilow should. But Britney?

To beef up "Britney Spears Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" (Jive Records), two of the 17 songs are previously unreleased tracks: "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)," which sounds like No Doubt's "Hella Good," and "Do Somethin'." Both provide Britney with further opportunities to proclaim her need to have fun and be herself, which have been running themes throughout her last two albums. Then there's her utterly unnecessary version of "My Prerogative," which has an oh-so trendy Bollywood tinge.

That leaves 14 actual hits of her own, at least on the main disc (a second disc features remixes). They're not in chronological order, but they provide an interesting study (for those of us who are into these kinds of things) into Britney's evolution -- or more accurately, devolution -- as an "artist."

Britney Stocks up On Magazines

Posted by brandon at 2:43 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Britney Spears has been spotted stocking up on magazines - with herself on the cover.

The pop babe was snapped leaving her Malibu mansion with new husband, Kevin Federline, for the first time in six days - and heading straight to the news stands.

A source said: "She looked like the rest had done her the world of good.

Her skin was clear and she was relaxed and very polite despite the cameras around her. Marriage obviously suits her."

Earlier this week sources claimed the pop babe was already pregnant after jetting back from her honeymoon in Fiji last week.

Reports claimed that Kevin's former fiancé, Shar Jackson allegedly let the news slip during a shopping trip in Beverly Hills after being bombarded by calls from her former lover, Kevin.

According to sources she said: "He is so annoying. You know, Britney's pregnant."

Mix & Mash Britney

Posted by Amar at 9:58 PM | Comments

Music   The mash-up, a favorite pastime among hackers and online music traders, is going legit.

A new series, "MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups," hopes to capitalize on the craze, in which computer users "mash" together songs to produce surprising new results. The series premiere Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. features Jay-Z rapping with Linkin Park.

Recorded live at West Hollywood's Roxy Theatre, the artists create some unlikely combinations, such as Jay-Z's cocky "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" with Linkin Park's rage-filled "Lying From You." The show also features footage of the musicians rehearsing in the studio. A combination CD/DVD of the performance will be released Nov. 30.

Like downloading, mash-ups have been popular with music fans but not with the music industry. After DJ Danger Mouse released an album mixing Jay-Z with The Beatles, he received a cease-and-desist order from EMI, which owns The Beatles' recordings.

Still, mash-ups regularly appear online, and San Francisco radio station Live 105 has even begun airing

them. One favorite is "Faint Britney," which mixes Linkin Park's "Faint" with Britney Spears' "Toxic."

"I don't believe in sectioning off music," Jay-Z said at a screening of the new show. "You'll catch me listening to Sarah McLachlan."

Britney's New Prerogative: Decorating

Posted by brandon at 2:53 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous   What fresh hell hath the Internet wrought this week?

Why, it's another letter from Britney Spears.

Fresh off a Fiji honeymoon with hubby Kevin Federline, the pop tart posted a sequel to her "letter of truth", discussing everything from taking a time-out from her musical career, her desire to become a mommy, her enrollment in art classes and how she can't wait to start decorating her new digs.

"I'm just getting back from my honeymoon and it was absolutely breathtaking," Spears gushes as the letter begins. "This is the happiest I've ever been in my life."

In the latest dispatch, posted Thursday on her official Website, BritneySpears.com, Spears says she is psyched about leaving behind her busy touring schedule and looking forward to a more domestic life.

"I can actually enjoy and reflect on my success at this point in my life," the singer says. "I may be disappointing some fans out there, but I don't think I'll do another tour for a couple of years."

Perhaps Spears has been feeling so reflective of late because of her marriage, or her impending birthday--she turns 23 on Dec. 2. Or maybe it's because her Greatest Hits album, covering her extensive, four-album career, comes out next Tuesday. The disc also features her new single, a version of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative."

Reflection aside, Spears seems most animated when waxing exclamatory about her new favorite hobbies: decorating and art, y'all!

"I'm redecorating a lot of things because when we decide to start a family, everything in it needs to be perfecto! I love decorating; it's very therapeutic for me. I believe your house is a reflection of yourself, so I want everything in mine to be exquisite," says Spears, who certainly has a big enough house to try out all her newfound interior design ideas--she and Federline recently settled in a $6.9 million Malibu mansion.

"My new hobby is experimenting with all different types of art lessons," she continues. "It's always been a passion of mine. Maybe I'll even do my sister's makeup next year for big events."

Spears also echoed sentiments from her first Web missive about wanting to let someone else dominate tabloid covers as as she attempts to stay out of the spotlight this year.

"I am having fun again reading all the magazines that I enjoy (mainly because I am not on them)," she says. "At this point and time, what I want is not my face on every cover, but someone else's instead."

Deeper into her latest 630-word manifesto--which is only available to diehards willing to shell out $25 to join her fan club--Spears hinted that she may be getting out of the biz as a performer. What she really wants to do is direct...someone else's career, that is.

"I really want to help other people achieve their dreams and possibly even develop new artists," she writes. "Everything is in the very beginning stages and it feels great to just think about different opportunities that I am interested in pursuing."

Among those possibilities? Kids, says the "In The Zone" singer (who, if you believe the Spears-obsessed tabloids, may already be with child).

"I am going to be focusing on three main areas of my life for the immediate future. Myself, my husband, Kevin, and starting a family."

Until then, Spears says she will stay busy reading the very tabs she says she hates being in. "I can't wait to read what they say this week…He He!"

Arden's Increase in Sales Attributed to "Curious"

Posted by brandon at 12:33 PM | &x_subject=NEWS: Arden's Increase in Sales Attributed to "Curious"&x_link=http://www.britneyspears.org" target="_blank">Comments

Miscellaneous  US beauty manufacturer Elizabeth Arden Inc saw net income jump to $4.8m during the first quarter, ended September 30, from $1.3m last year. The increase reflects a higher proportion of net sales of owned and licensed brands, as well as warehouse consolidation, Arden said in a statement. Net sales for the quarter were up 6.6% to $212.2m. Sales were driven by the launch of Britney Spears’s Curious fragrance in US department stores, which has “exceeded both retailer and industry expectations. It is currently the number-one ranked fragrance in US department stores,” according to Elizabeth Arden Inc chairman and ceo Scott Beattie. Sales were also pushed by the performance of Elizabeth Arden Provocative Woman, which launched in the US in spring and internationally in September. Looking ahead, Elizabeth Arden foresees net sales for the next quarter to grow between 8% and 10% and expects to reach full-year sales of between $900m and $910m. Britney Spears’s Curious will be rolled out internationally and to travel retail during Q3.

Jackson Knows Nothing About Britney's Pregnancy

Posted by brandon at 12:30 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Actress Shar Jackson has laughed off reports she announced Britney Spears' alleged pregnancy, declaring "I am not in Britney's womb".

The former Moesha star - mother to Britney's husband Kevin Federline's two children Kori and Kaleb - was reported to have declared "You know, Britney's pregnant" in a Beverly Hills, California boutique earlier this week.

But in an interview with American TV show Access Hollywood, Jackson laughs, "I talked to Kevin and we both laughed because now I think the latest rumour is that he told me she was pregnant.

"From what I hear, Britney is not pregnant. Just so everybody can get this real clear, I am not the authority on Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. I am not in Britney's womb. I am not their spokesperson/publicist. I'm none of that."

New Letter From Britney

Posted by Kaos at 3:57 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Dear Fans,

I’m just getting back from my honeymoon and it was absolutely breathtaking! This is the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take our honeymoon right after the wedding because of the closing on our new house. We are just settling into our new home and it is coming together perfectly. I’m redecorating a lot of things because when we decide to start a family, everything in it needs to be perfecto! I love decorating; it’s very therapeutic for me. I believe your house is a reflection of yourself, so I want everything in mine to be exquisite.

My new hobby is experimenting with all different types of art lessons. It’s always been a passion of mine. Maybe I’ll even do my sister’s make-up next year for big events. Jamie Lynn is turning into such a beautiful little lady. Her new show is coming out soon and I am sooo proud of her. It’s called Zoey 101 and it will be on Nickelodeon in January. DON’T MISS IT!

I haven’t really thought a lot about work lately. What better time for a greatest hits album to come out? I can actually enjoy & reflect on my success at this point in my life. I may be disappointing some fans out there, but I don’t think I’ll do another tour for a couple of years. My priorities in life have changed. I am having fun again reading all the magazines that I enjoy (mainly because I am not on them). At this point and time, what I want is not my face on every cover, but someone else’s instead. I really want to help other people achieve their dreams and possibly even develop new artists. Everything is in the very beginning stages and it feels great to just think about different opportunities that I am interested in pursuing.

The Holiday’s are right around the corner and I can’t wait to have my own Christmas tree in my very own house. As far as New Year’s plans, I really wanted to have a huge party for all our friends and relatives who were unable to be at our wedding, due to the last minute surprise element, but I think we might have to wait until after the house is completely finished.

Well, I’ve got to go. My dog, Lacy, just got fixed and she’s not acting like herself! I’m going to have Shabby Chic re-cover her bed and maybe that will lift her spirits!

Love, B

PS~ Regarding last week’s letter: I’m not the type of person to put blame on other people, but I do feel that some things which were done for me were not always in my best interests. Looking back, I feel now that on my 4th album “less is more” should have been the way to go. As for me quitting the business for good, that is kind of harsh. As I said earlier, my priorities have changed and I am going to be focusing on three main areas of my life for the immediate future. Myself, my husband, Kevin and starting a family. When I really come back, things will be totally different. Until then, there are some things close to me that you might be interested in seeing. For one, you will be able to get a taste of my fine hubby on a few covers; Jamie Lynn has her show coming out and of course, the tabloid’s weekly analysis of my “letter of truth”. Hopefully, they won’t be trying to decipher that one for much longer! I can’t wait to read what they say this week. He He! Well, now I’ve really got to go!

Love ya,
B

Britney's Greatest Hits

Posted by Amar at 2:21 PM | Comments

Music  “People can take everything away from you, but they can never take away your truth,” Britney Spears insists breathily at the beginning of her greatest-hits collection, sounding like a pop-star version of Dr. Phil.

“But the question is,” she continues, “can you handle mine?”

Tough question, especially coming from someone who’s notorious for lip-synching her way through performances, and who utters those words at the start of a song that isn’t even one of her own greatest hits, but a cover of somebody else’s: Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative.” We wouldn’t know her truth if it were a boa constrictor squeezing us around the neck at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The idea of Britney releasing a greatest-hits disc after only five years in the cultural consciousness seems premature. The Rolling Stones should put out a best-of collection. Barry Manilow should. But Britney?

To beef up “Britney Spears Greatest Hits: My Prerogative” (Jive Records), two of the 17 songs are previously unreleased tracks: “I’ve Just Begun (Having My Fun),” which sounds like No Doubt’s “Hella Good,” and “Do Somethin’.” Both provide Britney with further opportunities to proclaim her need to have fun and be herself, which have been running themes throughout her last two albums. Then there’s her utterly unnecessary version of “My Prerogative,” which has an oh-so trendy Bollywood tinge.

Britney's devolution
That leaves 14 actual hits of her own, at least on the main disc (a second disc features remixes). They’re not in chronological order, but they provide an interesting study (for those of us who are into these kinds of things) into Britney’s evolution — or more accurately, devolution — as an “artist.”

Her first song was actually her best: “ ... Baby One More Time” from 1999, which Rolling Stone magazine’s Jenny Eliscu dismisses as “bubblegum” in the disc’s otherwise gushy liner notes.

It’s more melodic than most songs that followed, and if you listen closely, you can actually hear her singing — not just growling or panting or giggling on cue, as have become her trademarks of late. Maybe part of the allure back then was her novelty. She wasn’t ubiquitous yet, she wasn’t trying so hard to shock with her every hip thrust and wardrobe choice (or lack thereof).

Other earlier offerings truly were insipid. The overly electronic “Stronger” is so lamely feel-good, it could have been the theme song to a “Karate Kid” sequel. Same with “(You Drive Me) Crazy.”

But the Neptunes-produced “I’m a Slave 4 U,” off her third album, “Britney,” is a damn sexy song — yeah, I’ll admit it — with its thumping beats and seductive “get-it get-it, get-it get-it” chorus.

The insanely catchy “Toxic,” from her most recent disc, “In the Zone,” actually is one of her greatest hits. The string-heavy, stop-and-start chorus alone makes you want to forgive the “Alias” wannabe video that accompanies the song.

Little girl plays dress up
But later on comes “Outrageous,” produced by R. Kelly, in which Britney moans in a vapid monotone about her sex drive and her shopping spree, about running around in a “trench coat and my underwear.” And although she’s clearly having fun with her own image — the way her idol, Madonna, used to do — it sounds like a little girl playing dress-up.

Speaking of Madonna, “Me Against the Music,” their mutual admiration society ditty — er, duet — makes both women sound like they’re trying too hard to be hip.

The plaintive “Everytime” is actually a pretty tune, though — and as Britney ballads go, it’s far preferable to “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman,” which appears toward the end of the disc. But again, image trumps substance: It’s hard to listen to “Everytime” without thinking of the video, in which Britney appears to have slit her wrists in the bathtub after a tempestuous fight with her boyfriend (Stephen Dorff, dressed up like Justin Timberlake, the supposed subject of the song). Don’t worry, parents — it’s just a red Kabbalah string.

For true fans and collectors, though, the greatest hits collection comes with a second disc, featuring dance mixes of several songs from “In the Zone” — “Toxic,” “Everytime,” “Breathe on Me” and “Outrageous” — followed by the “Chris Cox Megamix,” which is exactly what the title would suggest. Britney’s biggest hits, crammed into five tight minutes and tied together with layered dance beats, coming soon to a cardio kickboxing class near you.

Why The "No Britney" Fuss In Child's Play Sequel

Posted by Amar at 7:24 PM | Comments

Movie  Britney Spears has forced the cheeky filmmakers behind the new Child's Play movie to add confirmation she doesn't appear in the film to trailers.

The pop superstar, who in September vetoed a plan for movie-makers to use her breakthrough Baby One More Time hit in a sex scene between two horror dolls, is now upset by scenes in the trailer of Seed Of Chucky, in which the scar-faced doll chases a Spears lookalike.

The trailers that now feature the scene now feature the strap line, 'Britney Spears does not appear in this film.'
