Sweet Charity Ends Its Run Because of Britney?

Posted by Kaos at 1:37 PM | Comments

Music  MoreOver posted an interesting article about Sweet Charity and here is a clip of what it said about Britney.

The show's fate was arguably sealed when a recent attempt to draft pop star Britney Spears failed. Reports of Spears' interest in the project began to surface after the singer attended the Nov. 17 performance of Sweet Charity with her mother and husband, Kevin Federline.

"The Insider" television program reported that Federline would have also joined the revival of the Neil Simon-Cy Coleman-Dorothy Fields musical.

On Nov. 23, the New York Post reported that, should the casting have been achieved, the production would have moved to the Hilton Theatre, which has roughly 400 more seats than the Al Hirschfeld. However, Spears decided to pass on the opportunity in the end.

The producers of Charity never made an official annoucement regarding Spears.

Britney Sues Us Weekly

Posted by Kaos at 11:55 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous  LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop star Britney Spears sued Us Weekly for libel on Monday, accusing the magazine of fabricating a story that she and her husband made a sexually explicit video together and worried it might be made public.

The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by Spears and her spouse, dancer Kevin Federline, seeks $10 million in damages against the magazine over the story, which ran in the publication's "HOTstuff" column in October.

According to the suit, the item was published with the headline: "Brit & Kev: Secret Sex Tape? New parents have a new worry: racy footage from 2004."

The magazine reported the couple telling their lawyers that "a member of their entourage had threatened to release raunchy footage of the two" and that Spears feared that "an X-rated tape starring the two may go public," the suit said.

The magazine also reported that the couple gave a copy of the tape to lawyers and watched it with them. The article appeared about a month after Spears, 24, gave birth to her first child. She and Federline, 27, married in September of last year.

Spears' complaint asserts that the entire story is false -- there is no such X-rated tape, no member of her entourage had threatened to release any such video and no such video was shown to the couple's lawyers.

The suit goes on to say that Us Weekly has refused to retract the article and "is instead maliciously standing by the bogus story."

A spokeswoman for Us Weekly had no immediate comment about the lawsuit.

Spears' lawyer, Martin Singer, was quoted telling Web site TMZ.com, which first reported news of the suit, that "Britney has finally decided to take a stand to put a stop to people fabricating these malicious lies about her."

Spears has sold more than 60 million albums since she shot to fame with her 1999 debut, "... Baby One More Time."

Earlier this year, UPN broadcast a reality-show mini-series about Spears' courtship and marriage to Federline, based largely on home videos shot by the singer herself.

Unconfirmed Rumors Stirring On Next LP

Posted by Amar at 5:35 PM | Comments

Rumors  The album hasn't even been seen the beginning stage but rumors are already ciculating the Internet. The last album didn't do as well in sales as her previous albums, so who else but Madonna does she go to for help on the next album.

A source in Britney’s camp said, "After hearing Madonna’s latest album, ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor,’ Britney immediately decided she wanted to return to the pop sound that made her a huge star in the beginning. She's done the R+B thing and rock chick thing, but her first love has always been pop," reports Contact Music.

More specifically Britney has turned to the people who helped Madonna write her album. She’s hired Christian “Bloodshy” Karlsson and Pontus “Avant” Winnberg who wrote “Confessions on a Dancefloor,” and producer, Peer Astrom to give her next record the pop flavor. What happened to going back to Max Martin?

Britney Still Reigns As Most Popular

Web  Britney Spears worth more than 50 Cent for Yahoo

Britney Spears didn't release an album of new material this year, but the new mom is still No. 1 on Yahoo's annual list of the most-searched for terms on the Internet.

Spears, who has topped the list for three of the last four years, lost out to American Idol in 2004.

Although the 24-year-old pop star released an album of remixes, B in the Mix, The Remixes, in November, it was the birth of her son, Sean Preston Federline, on Sept. 14 that brought her the most attention, Yahoo said yesterday.

Following Spears were, in order, 50 Cent, the Cartoon Network, Mariah Carey, Green Day, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Eminem, Ciara and Lindsay Lohan.

The list of overall top searches, all of which were entertainment related, "shows us that people are fixated on the activities of pop culture icons," Yahoo "Buzz Index guru" Erik Gunther said in a statement.

Yahoo Inc. has claimed that its search index spans more than 20 billion Web documents and images, though that figure is virtually impossible to verify because there is no official auditing system.

Eager fans of the pop star are offered 80 snaps of Britney and Kevin, shoot on their private Fiji honeymoon.

Miscellaneous  ABC News reported that for the third time in four years, singer Britney Spears is No. 1 — as far as Internet users are concerned.

Spears topped Yahoo's annual list of the most-searched for names on the Internet. Although she did not release a record containing new material this year, she had a baby — helping pique the interest of millions.

Spears, 24, was beaten last year by prime-time singing contest "American Idol," but topped the list the two years before that.

Kevin Would Demand $125 Million To Leave Britney

Posted by Rajiv at 3:34 PM | Comments

Miscellaneous   In Touch Weekly reported that after spending her birthday week apart, Britney Spears and her husband, Kevin Federline, patched things up again. But if Britney had heard the shocking statements coming out of Kevin's mouth just six days before they reconciled, their latest split might have lasted forever.

Partying with pals in Las Vegas during the week of Britney’s 24th birthday, Kevin told a reporter that he has already consulted his lawyers and would demand a “$125 million” settlement if the marriage was to end. “I don’t like lawyers,” the aspiring rapper said as he was leaving the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on December 3. “But in this situation, I have to get protection." Kevin’s even told friends that he’s been advised that the prenuptial agreement he signed is “not worth the paper it is written on.”

For more on Kevin’s shocking statements about Britney, pick up the new issue of In Touch. It should hit newsstands on Friday.

Britney Gives Kevin Federline Three Months Probation

Posted by Rajiv at 11:42 AM | Comments

Rumors  National Ledger also reported that Britney Spears has put her partying hubby Kevin Federline on a three month 'probation' of sorts. The blonde pop tart told friends earlier this month that "she wants to end the marriage for good," according to one published report.

In fact, if the report in the American tabloid 'Life & Style" is accurate; Brit was only talked out of an immediate divorce by her mom.

Her mom Lynne wants her to give Kevin one more chance. An insider dishes to the tabloid that mom wants the pair to get into marriage counseling and work through these tough times.

Last week, the couple went through a highly publicized split where Brit tossed the hubby from the mansion, reportedly over a drug deal at the house.

And while Brit has now taken him back in - she wants a timetable for the wannabe rapper to get his act together.

"She's given K-Fed three months and if he can't - or won't then he's oput the door (again) dishes the insider.

The magazine does note that Britney's rep denied commenting on the story.

If this report is true, we all should know sometime in early March if Kevin sticks with the plan and gets "off probation."

Radio Host Up Divorce Kevin' Website

Posted by Rajiv at 11:41 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous  National Ledger reported that Britney Spears is getting advice from all corners. She has support from A-list celebs and fans alike as she sorts through the last weekend messy late night row that sent hubby Kevin Federline to a Beverly Hills hotel.

Now their is a web site set up in support of Britney dumping K-Fed for good.

Divorce Kevin.com leads with a 'Welcome note' that says:

Welcome to the home of the Anti-Kevin movement. Are you sick of seeing the train wreck that is Britney and Kevin?

Sign the K-Fed Up Petition, grab your Divorce Kevin gear and help Britney remove the boil that is Kevin from herself and her payroll!

It included K-Feds high school mullet picture and asks "Where is Ashton, because we have obviously all been PUNKED!"

Note from britneyspears.org: This web site was set up by radio host Jason Cage who also runs FeedLindsay.com. It seems like he is just trying to profit from this anti-kevin movement by selling some t-shirts. I would hardly call him a fan. I think that distinction needs to be made clear.

Inside Britney & Kevin's Blowup

Posted by Rajiv at 11:38 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous  People reported that on Nov. 30 Britney Spears and her husband, Kevin Federline, had such a heated argument that, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE in its latest issue, Spears dropped the D-word, and Federline bolted from their Malibu home.

"She wanted a divorce," says a friend of Spears's. And, says a source close to Federline, "when she's upset with him, he likes to give her some space. I don't think she's upset with him because of something specific he's done. I think she's overwhelmed with her new lifestyle – being a wife and mother – and sometimes takes it out on the people who she's closest to and who she knows will stick around."

Spears's way of taking it out on her husband? By showing up that night at the L.A. club LAX and dancing into the wee hours with friends. "It was definitely a girls' night out," says an LAX partner. "Kevin was being punished."

Of course, Federline, 27, didn't seem too tortured during his own marathon of clubbing in Vegas a few days later: First he and his all-male entourage hit Pure Nightclub, where he caught up with Nicole Richie's fiancé, DJ AM, then partied at the club Tao Las Vegas until 4 a.m.

In any case, the punishment proved short-lived. After her 24th birthday on Dec. 2, Spears took a quick jaunt to Vegas (where she checked into the Wynn Las Vegas resort, half a mile down the Strip from her husband's suite at the Venetian), then repaired to Louisiana to spend time with her mother, Lynne, and sister Jamie Lynn.

But by Tuesday, according to a source close to the couple, she had settled back into her Malibu mansion with her husband and their 3-month-old son Sean Preston. "This has happened before," says an insider. "They always work it out."

So it seems like everything is ok again for now with Britney and Kevin being back home and together! For Sean Preston's sake, I hope they can work out any problems thet have.

Britney Attends Billboard Awards Alone

Posted by Amar at 11:46 PM | Comments

Rumors  Well, it really does look like Britney Spears' marriage is indeed on the rocks after the singer turned up at the Billboard Awards in Las Vegas on her own. It was previousley first thought that husband Kevin Federline has jetted out to see Spears in Vegas to try and patch things up. Femalefirst.co.uk reports that Federline started calling Britney non-stop in Las Vegas, pleading with her to take him back — and begging for his car (she apparently had his Ferrarri towed away a little while ago).

The website also states that Spears has already called in the lawyers to start divorce proceedings. Oh dear.

Britney Angry At Kevin Spending $1 Million For Debut CD

Posted by Rajiv at 11:34 AM | Comments

Rumors  The National Enquirer reported that Britney is furious that hubby Kevin Federline is recklessly spending her money to record his debut CD, which he hopes will kick-start his singing career.

A source close to the couple estimates that Kevin, 27, has already spent over $1 million of his wife's loot with no end in sight.

"Kevin's like a runaway freight train when it comes to blowing Britney's money," the source said.

Britney, 24, has already built Kevin a $400,000 music studio in their Malibu mansion. He used her money to fly in several music producers and each recording session with them costs $40,000. The source also said he has hired a musician at $5,000 a day and is forking out $4,000 to buy the beat or melody for each track.

Kevin's spending infuriates Britney, says the source. But she's even more annoyed that she has practically been banned from his recording sessions.

Britney and Kevin Breakup Soon?

Posted by Rajiv at 11:12 AM | Comments

Miscellaneous  Completely a rumor right now but Britney and Kevin seem to be having problems. This past weekend, there were two updates from our favorite gossip blog PerezHilton.com about Britney and Kevin. According to him
Britney was partying on Friday night in Vegas for her birthday without Kevin. Gossip columnist Norme Clarke, suggests she is staying at the Wynn Resort.

Helping console Britney during this difficult time is her mother, Lynne, who is with Spears now in Vegas, along with Sean. Also Britney's wedding band has reportedly been replaced by a skull and crossbones ring.

Perez also reported:

Whilst Kevin has been staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Britney has been cleaning house, firing two of her bodyguards for letting "the weed man" - as she calls Kev - into her Malibu mansion. And, Britney means business.

On Friday, the fed-up wife of K-Fed sent his sweet Ferrari back to the dealership!

None of this has been confirmed by any trusted sources, so it's hard to tell if it's all true.

First Confirmed Report Britney's New Album To Come Out In 2006

Posted by Kaos at 12:13 AM | Comments

Music  Entertainment Weekly reports Hear about Britney Spears' new baby? Definately. Hear about her new album? Um... Released Nov.22 without the usual PR blitz, B in the mix: The Remixes sold only 14,000 copies in its first week, debuting at no. 134 on Billboard's album chart. A rep for Spears' label, Jive, insists the former Queen Bee of Teenage Pop hasn't lost her touch. The disc of clubby remixes "was scheduled as a limited-edition fan piece," she says, adding that Brit's working on a full length album for 2006. In general, remix albums rarely find a mass audience (R.Kelly's recent remix record, Remix City Volume 1, debuted only at No. 72) But B in the Mix lacks a photo of Britney anywhere on the cover or CD booklet - a conspicuously low-profile rollout for an artist whose 1999 debut album has sold more than 10 million copies. "It doesnt seem like the best way to sell a Britney CD," says Carl Mello, senior buyer at New England's Newburry Comics music chain. "Though it's a good way to milk the catalog for a few extra dollars over the holidays." And someone does have another mouth to feed.

Britney Kicked Out Kevin

Posted by Rajiv at 7:22 PM | Comments

Rumors  According to PerezHilton:

Wednesday night began in fine form for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. Though they have a new baby boy at home, the couple returned to their one true love and what drew them together in the first place, partying.

Brit & Kev hit DJ A.M.'s club LAX in Hollywood last night and partied the night away. And when these two kids party, they party hard!

However, once the two went home, the party went sour quickly, and a very well-placed source tells PerezHilton.com exclusively that Spears and the Federjerk got into a heated exchange in their Malibu mansion and Brit kicked the stoner to the curb. (Kevin was witnessed leaving the house in the early A.M. hours by himself).
