Britney A Miss At The Grammys?
From FOXNews.com

"...And then there's Britney Spears.

She took a turn for the conservative last night in a tame red chiffon gown and a big, bad (as in "not good") burst of brassy curls.

At one of last year's award shows, she jiggled around in a loincloth with a boa constrictor. Last night, she could have used the snake."

Britney Returns To Vegas For 2nd Leg Of North American Tour
From MTV.com If you missed her tour last fall or her HBO special or her recent big screen debut ... well, then you must live in a cave.

But even cave dwellers need to get out every now and then, so pop's reigning queen, Britney Spears, has lined up a spring North American tour that kicks off May 24 in Las Vegas, according to her web site. Spears has so far mapped out two month's worth of shows.

The trek will comprise the second leg of the chart champ's tour in support of her Britney CD. The outing comes on the heels of her successful run last fall, a trek that provided the backdrop for her live HBO concert special broadcast from Las Vegas.

VBS/BritneyPic@MM Virus Discovered
McAfee.com got up a virus information page for the VBS/BritneyPic@MM virus which includes information about the virus and also instructions on how to remove it if your computer is infected.

Virus Characteristics:
This threat is not in the wild and considered to be a low risk. It is currently detected with the 4150 DATs (or newer) as VBS/Generic@MM when scanning compressed files.
This Compiled HTML Help file contains VBScript to email itself to all users in the Microsoft Outlook address book using MAPI messaging. It arrives in an email message containing the following information.

Subject: RE: Britney Pics
Body: Take a look at these pics ...

Regards,
%senders name%

Attachment: Name of .CHM file run (typically Britney.chm)

When the CHM file is run, a Window is displayed and an Internet Explorer warning message appears on top of it.

Clicking YES infects the local system. The worm checks each directory on the C, D, and E drives for SCRIPT.INI. If found, the worm overwrites the file with mIRC (a popular Internet Relay Chat client program) instructions to send itself (from the WINDOWS directory) to IRC users who are on the same channel as the infected user. The worm is saved to the WINDOWS directory and a registry value is queried to see if the worm has emailed itself to others already:
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\chm

If chm does not equal 1, then the worm proceeds in sending itself to all users in the Outlook address book, and then setting CHM equal to 1 in the registry.

Lynne's Corner Updated: "Britney's Vacation"
Here is the updated Lynne's corner from BritneySpears.com,
"Britney had a restful vacation at home. She loves her uninterrupted family time. Brit refuels and uses her time to do only the things she loves most. We shopped in Ponchatoula, a great little town closeby, full of antiques and cute little shops. We bought pins to go on a pair of jeans she was working on and two floor lamps to go in her bedroom. They will be a totally mesmerizing centerpiece of her room’s decor.

We ate stuffed mushrooms and crayfish corn chowder at C’est Bon. The food and atmosphere are great at this quaint little restaurant. We planned on going to the movies several times during the week, but we always got caught up in something or someone at home. Jamie Lynn had friends over for the weekend, so I had a houseful of girls. They stayed busy and didn’t want to leave the house. It’s hard to convince Jamie Lynn to go to the movies or shopping. I predict that in a couple of years, this won’t be the case. Brit went to Jamie Lynn’s dance school with her this week.

We felt bad, because the students were a bit distracted by her visit. But one thing was for sure -- watching Jamie Lynn and her friends made Britney miss her old dance classes.

Both Bryan and Jamie Lynn’s birthdays are in April. I’ve got to get my creative juices flowing! I have a pretty decent idea for Jamie Lynn’s birthday, but Bryan is a difficult guy to surprise. Britney and Lauren will have to help me with him this year.

The Grammy’s will be Wednesday night this week. Britney is a presenter this year. After the Grammy’s she’ll also be working on her next video, “Overprotected.” Britney leaves for the overseas promotional tour next.

My mother was from London, England. I always hated watching my mom leave on a plane when she left for a visit. I still get the same feeling when I watch Bryan or Britney fly away from home. The emptiness I feel is even greater watching my children go. I never want their vacations to end."

Britney - The Pros And Cons
Here are Britney's Pros and Cons according to The Spokesman-Review:

Pros

Britney Spears plays many roles: Pepsi spokeswoman, Herbal Essences girl, performer, artist and businesswoman. She is so adept at promotion that Herbal Essences and Pepsi products both make appearances in her new movie, "Crossroads." She also uses the movie to promote her latest CD, "Britney." Spears often gets ridiculed for baring all in public. But she's proud of her sexuality and her body, and she wants to share it. As children, we are taught to be proud of who we are. Yet most teenage girls hate the way they look and have poor self-images. The United States is one of the few countries uncomfortable with such openness. Europeans tend to think this discomfort is backward. They could very well be right. If people did expose a little more, then maybe we wouldn't feel so self-conscious about our differences. To nonfans, it is difficult to see why Britney causes such a commotion. "If it were about the music, Britney Spears would be a porn star," says a character on "The Hughleys," a TV sitcom. But what many critics fails to see is a talented young woman who took a chance. She has self-confidence, and I think that's what makes her special. Spears left her friends and family to try to make it in a very difficult business. While not every girl dreams of being a pop star, they can watch her, hear her message and follow their hearts. They can take a leap at finding their dreams and living life to its fullest. Her many personas are the characters she plays while she tries to find herself. When all is said and done, Spears is a down-to-earth girl from Louisiana who likes to have fun. Spears' first film, "Crossroads," was written specifically for her. She even helped with the basic concepts. While the plot is really bad, the movie is really about her branching out into other entertainment forms. This film is really just a trial run to see if Spears can play a a leading role. She can, at least in this movie. Of course, there's a very fine line between Spears and the character (Lucy) she plays... Click Here to continue...

Grade for Spears: B

Cons

The Britney Spears movie "Crossroads," wasn't high on my list of must-see films. Then my editor asked if I could see the movie and assess the whole "Britney phenomenon." Thinking that it would be fun to bash the pop singer turned actress, I agreed. Then I realized a few things. I was going to have to fork over cash to see this film. I was going to add to the box-office sales. I also realized I had to find someone to go with me. No one I know likes Britney enough to willingly endure 90 minutes of Britney-filled, um, fun. I resorted to bribery to get a friend to come along. One of the most interesting parts of the movie was seeing who was in the theater. Teenage girls filled most of the seats, with a few annoyed-looking boyfriends thrown in the mix. While only a few of the girls were under the age of 10, seeing them there at all depressed me. These little girls look up to Britney, and they were about to see her in a PG-13 film, taking part in things she shouldn't. That's one of the things that bothers me most about Britney: She's treated like a role model. She says she's a "good girl." Supposedly, the risque clothes, provocative dancing and suggestive songs are part of the act. Well, the act is what makes her famous. It's what little girls see and want to imitate. The opening scene of "Crossroads" introduces us to three young girls who are burying a box of dreams and vowing to unearth it on graduation night. Next, we see Britney dancing and singing in her underwear. Hey, I can watch this on MTV for free! The three girls are graduating. Over time, they've grown apart because of their different personalities. Lucy (Spears) is the wholesome, straight-A nerd. Her former friends are Kit (Zoe Saldana), the prissy, popular girl, and Mimi (Taryn Manning), the pregnant girl from the wrong side of town. Long live stereotypes! After they dig up their box, we learn that Mimi is going to Los Angeles with the mysterious musician, Ben (Anson Mount), to audition for a record contract. Kit goes to see her boyfriend, and Lucy tags along to find her long-lost mother. The film is totally formulaic. The girls sing and bond the whole time... Click Here to continue...

Britney #1 On MTV's What Guys Really What Video Countdown

Britney At #4 On The E! Top 10 Sexiest Moments In Music
Britney got the #4 spot on the E! Top 10 Sexiest Moments in Music. Here is what E! Online had to say:

Host Marlon Wayans said it all: "Girl went from The Mickey Mouse Club to the strip club."

At MTV's 2000 music-awards shindig, Britney Spears achieved what scientists had long thought impossible. The erstwhile ear-wearer sexed up her image.

Consider that when you start your music career as a well-endowed teenager who pops out of her blouse for a Rolling Stone cover and bops around in a music video in a naughty schoolgirl outfit, this is no easy feat. Eventually, conventional wisdom says you catch a draft and want to put some clothes on.

Not our Britney.

In September 2000, Miss Spears was 18, so authorities could do nothing when she took to the stage for a performance of the illustrious "Oops!...I Did It Again" and proceeded to pare down to an outfit that would make a Showgirls-era Elizabeth Berkley blush.

The act was hailed by dirty young and dirty old men the world over and reviled by mothers, who feared their impressionable daughters would similarly drop their clothes.

Dear Britney remained unfazed. As she later told MTV Diary: "I honestly had no idea it was gonna be such a big deal. I still don't see what the big deal was."

Somebody should loan her the bootleg tape.

Britney Comes Up Short
According to the New Your Daily News Online Britney Spears' $7 million deal with Pepsi-Cola might not be enough to let her buy her some Prada handbags. The pop princess was in Barneys recently with her mother, Lynne, and a bodyguard when she stepped to the checkout line.

"But when she went to pay, her credit card was declined," a spy tells next week's New York magazine.

Spears tried another card, but it didn't work, either. Luckily for Britney, her bodyguard's credit card was approved.

"Britney wasn't embarrassed at all," said the spy.

Britney Gets Cyber Make Over
Acorrding to Yahoo! News

She was tipped as the new Madonna when she burst onto the music scene four years ago. Now U.S. pop singer Britney Spears is challenging Lara Croft for her cyber-babe crown.

Spears has been transformed into a virtual pop princess -- complete with leather catsuit, flowing locks and ample cleavage -- for her first assault on the video games market.

Programmers at U.S. games maker THQ Inc. say "Britney's Dance Beat" offers adoring fans the chance to perform with their idol, if only in a virtual world.

"Audition to Britney's most popular songs to see if you can keep up with the other dancers," the company says on its Web site (www.thg.com). "If you're really good, you'll get access to exclusive video and concert footage."

Designed with the help of Spears, the game will be available for PlayStation 2 in May. Versions for Game Boy and Xbox will follow later in the year, the company said.

Dr. Ruth To Britney: Its OK To Be Sexy
From ABCNews.com The 73-year-old sex therapist says she wants to tell the 20-year-old pop sensation that it's OK to be sexy on stage — but don't forget who you are.

"I want to tell [her] that you can do these sexy kind of movements but at the same time in your interviews you have to say that you know that that's for the camera, that's for show business," says the good doctor. "But your core, your inner self, is not changing."

Rodney Jerkins Making Sure Britney Keeps Bangin' In The Clubs
MTV reported that you haven't seen anything until you've seen a mean-looking Brooklyn tough guy do the Harlem Shake to the sounds of Britney Spears' "I'm a Slave 4 U." Believe it or not, Miss Brit's Neptunes-produced jam has joined the ranks of certifiable club bangers like State Property's "Roc the Mic" and Mr. Cheeks' "Lights, Camera, Action!" — songs that, no matter what you're doing, you just have to hit the dance floor and wild out when the DJ throws them on.

Now producer Rodney Jerkins is out to show that the hip-hop community's love for Britney is not a fluke. Jerkins, who did some production work on Spears' Britney, has remixed that album's next single, "Overprotected."

"They needed a remix that's crazy," Jerkins said early last week. "I kinda had fun with it 'cause I took it old-school. It's an old-school-type rhythm, which I think is kinda cool because it's an element she never had, but I still gave it her edge. I was up all night rocking that joint. [It has the] same lyrics, I just reproduced the track."

Jerkins said he's not surprised that the pop queen has become popular in the hip-hop clubs.

"She reinvented herself," he explained. "Everybody thought she was gonna come back with another 'Oops! ... I Did it Again,' but she went left and came with the 'I'm a Slave 4 U' joint, which is basically a club banger. You gotta big up people who reinvent themselves. I always said she was gonna be one of the people that's gonna be around for a minute, because I see that in her."

Jive Records said the Jerkins' Dark Child remix of "Overprotected" will hit the radio in the middle of March.

Britney Spears Is Not a Girl, Scientists Agree
This should be funny, according to Newsweek:

German scientists who took part in a conference at the University of Dusseldorf over the weekend have concluded that pop diva Britney Spears is not a girl, according to the published findings of the conference.

“SHE IS NOT a girl,” said Dr. Gustav von Helmholtz, who organized the Dusseldorf event. “However, she is not yet a woman.”

The question of whether Britney Spears is a girl or a woman has puzzled scientists for years, so the Dusseldorf findings—that Ms. Spears is not a girl, not yet a woman—represent a significant breakthrough.

Furthermore, the news that Ms. Spears is not a girl, not yet a woman is crucial, the conference participants appear to be saying, because it will determine how people treat the multi-platinum artist in the future.

“There is no need to protect her,” said Dr. Reimar Ertel, one of the conference participants. “It’s time that she learned to face up to this on her own.”

Some of the scientists who attended the Dusseldorf event indicated that, given her unique status as someone who is not a girl, not yet a woman, Ms. Spears might need, in the words of Dr. Hans Mintrop, “time, a moment that is hers, while she’s in between.”

The findings of the Dusseldorf scientists, as documented in a report by Dr. Johann Wiechert, were ultimately upbeat about Ms. Spears’ future.

“She’s not a girl, don’t tell her what to believe,” Dr. Weichert wrote. “Not yet a woman, she is just trying to find the woman in her, yeah.”

Britney Got Game
According to RollingStone.com In just a few decades, the music industry has gone from the age of the Be-In to the age of the Tie-In. It's not surprising to see a line of limited edition Kiss credit cards or a soundtrack to ESPN's extreme sports tour. Now record labels are tapping a new vein for the crass cross-promo buzz: video games. The latest recruit -- who else? -- Britney Spears.

Next month, THQ -- a company that publishes wrestling video games -- will be releasing Britney's Dance Beat for the Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance, and PC/Mac. "You knew she was magnetic," the PR blurb reads, "but did you know she's now electronic too?" Yes indeed, the transcendent Ms. Spears strapped on the motion capture bodysuit to be digitized for gamers' interactive delights. But before Bob Dole's pooch gets in an uproar, don't get the wrong idea; as chaste as ever, Britney is untouchable in the game. Instead, players select from a choice of dancers who are auditioning to be backup dancers on her tour. The better you tap the beat on the PS2 controller, the better your character shimmies and the more likely you'll score the ultimate prize: boogying with digital Britney in a simulated concert. Rawk!

Of course this isn't the first time that pop stars have made the leap into game life. The Spice Girls, Wu-Tang Clan and David Bowie have all been featured in games. More and more popular artists are being recruited to provide songs or even full-length scores from Trent Reznor to Thomas Dolby and Devo. It's one thing to have "cool" music inside a game and another to expect listeners to shell out for the soundtrack. Labels from Atlantic to Astralwerks have all tried with mixed success to cash in video game soundtracks. However, with the exception of Wipeout XL, a star-studded electronica game-track released in 1996 by Astralwerks, they pretty much suck.

The Britney game tries a bit more wisely to cash in on the dance game craze that's been sweeping Japan and creeping into the U.S. Dance-by-numbers games like Beatmania and Dance Dance Revolution have become the video game version of Karaoke madness. Like Britney's game, the action is like a cross between Simon Says and that scene in The Jerk where Steve Martin tries to get rhythm. If you manage to get into the groove, you score points and move on to more complex tunes; if not, you crap out and have to make like Dance Fever's Danny Terrio for the same round all over again.

Still it remains to be seen whether even superstars like Britney can survive the leap. Surely there's a lot of cash at stake -- especially considering that the game industry now generates more $8 billion per year, more than movie ticket sales. Britney might heed the wisdom of singer-songwriter Poe who once recorded a couple songs and digitized her body to star opposite Bruce Willis in a 1998 game called Apocalypse. Being inside a computer game, she said at the time, felt kinda creepy: "I'm this superhero character who gets completely dehumanized." That's showbiz.

Britney Is Going To Australia On April 17
Herald Sun reported that Britney Spears will be in Melbourne on April 17. Spears is coming to Australia for the launch of her first movie, Crossroads, which opened in America last week to mixed reviews.
While Spears will attend a premiere of the movie in Sydney on April 18, no public appearances have yet been planned during her day in Melbourne. Crossroads opens in Australia on April 19. Spears landed in Sydney on September 11 last year, and cancelled a press conference out of respect to the World Trade Centre victims.

Lynne's Corner Updated: "Crossroads a Success, Thanks to You!"
Here is the updated Lynne's corner from BritneySpears.com,
"This letter is going to begin with a big thank you to all of you fans. Britney has been ecstatic all weekend about the success of her movie, Crossroads. Your attendance at the movie theaters all over the country made Crossroads a box office hit, and the number two movie in the country this week. Not bad for your first movie!

Last week Britney attended the Los Angeles and New York premieres. Each time we viewed the movie, we became more excited… and apprehensive. Seeing all the people there and also at TRL was a tremendous encouragement. You supported her again and made this new challenge a success. As always, you are the greatest!

Britney is “chilling” for now. She surprised Laura Lynn with a two and a half pound Yorkshire terrier for her birthday. Britney flew to Baton Rouge to see her and attend her birthday party. Brit arrived just in time for the party. We had jet problems and were an hour late, but once we got there, the party turned out to be huge. Everyone had a wonderful time.

The next day the girls went shopping in the little boutiques. They had the perfect weather to ride with the top down in the convertible. Brit and Laura Lynn took pictures of Gabby, the new puppy, while they played with her outside. She is the cutest puppy! We are going to spoil her.

With hard work, lots of prayer, and support from her loyal fans, Britney has once again lived a dream. She never loses touch of these three important factors. They are truly the keys to her success.

From Britney and myself, thank you again for your support."

Britney Didn't Flash Her Breasts In Crossroads.
USA TODAY put up a news article that cleared up some of the news that has been flying around here last few days.

Britney Spears didn't flash her breasts in a scene cut from her current movie, Crossroads. And she has no plans to guest on Sex and the City, though she is a fan of the steamy HBO show. According to an Internet report Tuesday, Crossroads co-star Taryn Manning said at a news conference that she, Spears and Zoe Saldana suggested the flashing scene when writers asked for ways the three pals might express their elation at winning a karaoke contest.

That much is right. Crossroads producer Ann Carli says a montage was shot that included the three actresses "flashing" hotel guests — but they were shot from the neck up, with no nudity.

The sequence was too long and the scene was cut.

"The studio (Paramount) never even knew about it," says Carli.

She added, "We're thinking of using it on the DVD. It's that innocent. It was a cute segment that didn't really work."

Meanwhile, HBO says there's nothing to a report that Spears will guest on Sex and the City as the niece of Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, who appears in Crossroads as the mom who abandons Spears' character. Spears supposedly would have seduced Samantha's boyfriend.

thanks jeremy

The sexy stars have been dating for three years but spend months apart while Britney is touring and Justin is on the road with boyband 'N SYNC.

But Britney says that when they are together, Justin would rather play computer games than get cosy with her.

The LUCKY hitmaker sobs, "The whole time we're together, that's all he does.

Shakira: I'm Not Britney
From WENN Latina sexbomb SHAKIRA is tired of being compared to fellow pop princess BRITNEY SPEARS.

The Columbian singer has been likened to the American star since she first appeared on the music scene with her bleach blonde hair and skimpy crop tops.

Shakira says, "Now that I've dyed my hair, people in the street ask me if I'm Britney Spears.

"In New York, I'm asked twice a day, 'Are you Britney Spears? Can you give me an autograph.'

"I'm like, 'Of course, but I'm not Britney Spears'.

"I don't feel I'm artistically similar to anybody. I have a unique musical proposal."

Britney Spears: No "Sex," No Skin
According to E! Online: Sorry, guys: Britney Spears is apparently not a girl...not yet a "man-eating temptress."

A spokeswoman for the teen queen-turned-big-screen star of Crossroads is denying widely circulated New York Post and London tabloid reports that Spears is planning to guest star on HBO's Sex and the City, in which she'd play a sex-crazed relative of costar Kim Cattrall.

The Post reported Monday that the 20-year-old pop star will play the niece of Cattrall's character Samantha, whose boyfriend is stolen away from her by Britney.

"Samantha thinks her niece is a virgin, but nothing could be further from the truth," an "unnamed source" close to the show told the paper.

Only problem is, both HBO and Spears' publicist, Lisa Kasteler, insist the story isn't true.

The story didn't seem all that improbable. Cattrall plays Britney's mom in the thongbird's big-screen debut, Crossroads, which opened this weekend in second place at the box office, raking in $14.6 million. After working together, the Post reports that Cattrall asked Spears to take part in the show, and she gladly accepted.

Of course, the Post also reported that Spears is currently "engaged" to 'N Sync boyfriend Justin Timberlake--so everyone might want to take all of these stories with a boulder-sized chunk of salt. But whatever.

Meanwhile, one Britney scene that most likely won't see the light of day is a supposedly naughty breast-flashing moment in Crossroads featuring Spears and her costars, Taryn Manning and Zoe Saldena.

While promoting the coming-of-age road movie, Manning told reporters that the flashing scene was shot after they were asked by the film's screenwriter, Shonda Rhimes, for advice on how to best express the girls' excitement after they win a New Orleans karaoke contest.

"Shonda asked, 'What's something crazy that you would do with your friends?' and we're like, 'Oh, flash people.' We got to write that scene in, but it got cut." (Guess we'll have to wait for the DVD.)

Britney fans who are really aching to catch their idol in a more "grown-up" role can always check out the Warner Bros. Website (www.warnerbros.com) for Britney 2032, a mockumentary imagining what Britney Spears will be like when she's 50 years old.

The short film shows a chubby older woman clinging to her past glory while at a book-signing for her new autobiography, Oops! I'm Still Alive. The film ends with a heart-wrenching reunion between Britney and Justin Timberlake.

According to E! Online, Britney was "waved through" with her outfit at the MTV 2002 Mardi Gras Party in New Orleans. Here i was what they had to say about her outfit:

Wrap It Up

Britney Spears is buttoned-up tight at MTV's Mardi Gras Party in New Orleans with a double-breasted denim trench coat by Moschino and matching newsboy cap by Tracey Feith. Hidden underneath is a pair of purple velvet hip-hugger jeans and a lavender lace blouse. We know you'd love to see it, but hey, it was cold out. Give an overexposed pop princess a break!

Britney Spears's Breast-Baring Scene Cut From Crossroads
Launch reported that audiences who saw Britney Spears's movie Crossroads this weekend can tell you that she didn't bare anything that hasn't been seen before. What moviegoers don't know is that Spears was actually filmed baring her breasts, but that footage was not included the final cut.

Spears and her Crossroads co-stars Taryn Manning (Crazy/Beautiful) and Zoe Saldana (Get Over It) were approached by the film's screenwriter, Shonda Rhimes, to help come up with a scene to depict the girls' joy at winning a New Orleans karaoke contest and its prize money. The actresses put their minds to the task and decided that flashing sounded like a realistic way to celebrate.

"You know the writer, Shonda (Rhimes)? She said, 'What's something crazy that you would do with your friends?' you know, and we're, like, 'Oh, flash people.' But we got to write that scene in, but it got cut. We flashed, like, when we were at the hotel celebrating, you know?," Manning says.

Saldana adds, "In New Orleans." Manning continues, "These girls start drinking too much, so we end up going down the hall and flashing a couple doors, but it didn't make it in the movie."

According to Saldana, all three of the film's protagonists, including Spears, took part in the flashing action. But in the end, the Crossroads creative team decided to leave the footage on the editing-room floor. Crossroads, sans bare breasts, is now playing in theaters nationwide.

thanks lisa

The A To Z Of Britney
The Guardian Unlimited Observer has put togeather the A to Z of Britney. Here is what they had to say:

Soon after I started to investigate Britney Spears, I got the feeling that I was outnumbered by her. At the age of 20, she has exponentiated. She long ago established herself, according to the accountants, as 'the bestselling female artist during any one-week period in music history'. What's she worth? All I know is that she coolly scoffed at the $10 million proffered by an American businessman who wanted to have sex with her. She has become a collective fantasy, whose image inflames cyberspace. Search engines spend much of their time servicing requests for 'Britney naked'. One internet site compounds 1,001 other Britney sites, each of which opens into labyrinthine photo-galleries and encyclopaedic libraries of tittle-tattle.

With 17 million copies of her new CD sold, she is about to synergise. Her first film, Crossroads, a sorority road movie, opens next month. She has also published a fluffily inspirational first novel, A Mother's Gift, co-written with her gooey mom, Lynne, who once taught school but has 'taken time off to be her daughter's biggest fan' (which means, I suspect, going on the payroll).

The marketers turn all cosmic when describing Britney: she is 'the planet's biggest megastar'. The sun itself revolves around her. Her tour bus has a tanning salon, so she can treat herself to heliotherapy and honey-tone her skin when on the road between gigs in the middle of the night. Britney says that she intended 'to be big all around the world', and her chest has expanded to keep up with her ambition. Wherever you look, she is there - inside my head, and also lurking, as I discovered, in every letter of the alphabet.

A is for America, which Britney nubilely, precociously, go-gettingly embodies. The country is a permanent adolescent like her; she enacts its brash, mercenary dreams and its constitutional guarantee that everyone's wishes will come true. 'Go for what you want,' her mother told her when entering her in television talent quests at the age of nine. On 11 September, she was flying across the Pacific to Australia. Aware of her patriotic obligation, she immediately returned home to comfort her people and, given the amount of flesh she customarily exposes, to taunt the dress sense of all those dowdy, covered-up Afghan frumps. 'I think America is the best country in the world,' she announced. 'I really do.'

B is for Brittany, which is perhaps what her parents - back in those benighted days before we had SpellCheck to help us - named her after. To her family, she is known as Brit-Brit; if only to maintain the alliterative beat, she once had a Yorkshire terrier called Bitzi, though the dog may, given Britney's fondness for scanty threads, have been named in homage to that 'itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny yellow polka-dot bikini' in the ancient pop song.

Britney believes in her own manifest destiny, and her name may also explain her designs on British royalty. Her email flirtation with Prince William ended when she arrived for a meeting to be told by a sentry at the palace gate that he was out hunting. Britney, who can be vixenish on occasion, slunk away, her brush between her legs. Nevertheless, she remains fond of Britain - she adores 'the shopping, and your accents' - and has built a mansion in Louisiana for her mother that is 'all Tudor, like a British house'. It even has an Elizabethan-themed media-room.

We enjoy favoured status, since in Britney's world, other countries consist mostly of hotel suites. However, the heroine of A Mother's Gift plans a customised grand tour. Her boyfriend wants to 'race on the autobahn in Germany' and 'eat pizza in Rome', while she intends to visit Austria because she has heard that this is where they made The Sound of Music, her 'favourite movie of all time'.

C is for Cola, Pepsi to be precise, which paid Britney £63,000 per second to jive and jiggle through the commercial breaks on this year's Superbowl telecast. The show concluded with her performance of an anthem entitled ''The Joy of Pepsi'. She is canned effervescence, with rip-tops strategically positioned all over her costume.

D is for Dolls, which Britney collects and also merchandises. There are those who think she is one herself, like the inflatable ladies they used to sell in Times Square novelty shops. Singing 'Hit me bay-bee one more time' or 'I'm a slave for you', she plays at being an S&M Barbie. You can buy your own Britney, position her plastic limbs at will or have her do striptease routines. When she met Madonna's daughter, Lourdes, the shy child asked her assistant (even pop kids have PAs) to whisper a message in Britney's ear. 'She has all your dolls,' said Lourdes's lady-in-waiting...

Britney Spears: At The Crossroads
From MTV.com:

Since first stepping into the limelight, 20-year-old Britney Spears has adopted an array of personas to match her comprehensive wardrobe of costumes. First, at age 11, she was the sweet and apple-cheeked Mouseketeer. Fast forward to her 1999 debut album, ... Baby One More Time, and she was the sexy-but-innocent student in parochial-school skirt and thigh-highs. She then morphed into curious adolescent, cabaret performer and sexually confident woman, among other guises, in the two years leading up to her latest album, Britney.

But while suppressing the milk-and-cookies everyteen image in favor of something a lot more adult-oriented with such songs as "I'm a Slave 4 U" and "Boys," obstacles remain in her transformation from naive pop tart to sultry sex symbol (after all, she is just talking about dancing in those songs). Britney's most personal LP yet dilutes the sexually suggestive tracks with more wholesome fare, such as the hot-date jitterbug "Anticipating" and fairy tale crush "Bombastic Love."

Britney's latest single, "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet A Woman," best describes her dichotomous state as someone who intends to prove she's a grown-up living in the spotlight while keeping tethered to a past rooted in rural Kentwood, Louisiana. The song doubles as a summation of her feature film debut, "Crossroads," which opens February 15. In it, Britney slips into her most well-suited role since she really was "that innocent" as Lucy, who, along with two friends, vacates her small town on a cross-country quest to find her estranged mother (played by Kim Cattrall of "Sex and the City") and enter a music contest in Los Angeles. Along the way, she finds love and experiences the first confused pangs of adulthood.

If Lucy's rite of passage veers a bit close to home, it's because Britney helped concoct "Crossroads" from her own life experiences.

"The fact that Lucy wanted to get away from her small town [is a similarity between her and me]," she said. "Her excuse at the time was to go see her mother, but in her heart she knew she was on her way to be in the contest — I can kind of relate to that to a certain extent, with me going off and leaving my small town. But other than that, the character is totally different from me. She was probably me four years ago, but not now. Lucy is very naive and shy. She's to herself a lot, but the thing I really like about Lucy is that she's very strong."

Despite the dissimilarities between Britney and her character, during a scene set at a karaoke bar with Lucy performing "I Love Rock 'N Roll," a #1 hit for Joan Jett in 1982, she simply couldn't keep the two separate.

"That was a lot of fun," she said. "I had been on tour forever, and all of a sudden I stopped for like four months [to work on the movie], so it had been a while since I'd performed. I got up on the little stage and was like, 'OK, I'm coming back.' It felt cool. I think there was a little [more] Britney in that and not so much Lucy."

While the film offers plenty in terms of introspective realization, "Crossroads" is also a quintessential road movie/buddy flick. Along their interstate jaunt, Lucy and her friends' interpersonal ties are strengthened in a way only endless hours on the road and atypical adventures in foreign places can provide....

For Britney, Movies Don't Have To Be "That Deep"
From Hollywood.com:

Britney Spears, whose new movie Crossroads received negative reviews from most critics, on her personal movie preference, to Ananova.com:

"Everything the critics like I hate, and everything that they hate I like. I like light-hearted, girl-flick, love story movies. It's easy to watch, not that deep."

Britney Spears: Gurl Talk
From Teen Hollywood:

With her first film Crossroads hitting theaters, Britney was happy to talk to journalists and we got a rare chance to chat with her in person at the posh Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills, Ca. The superstar looked very casual, young and "girl-next-door" in her jeans and red and white off-shoulder top. It was the glam diamond jewelry that screamed "diva". The singer/actress wore diamond bangle bracelets, earrings and a couple of diamond rings; one a butterfly that she insisted wasn't an engagement ring or anything special. In her charming, little girl southern voice, she talked of her movie star dreams, her relationship with Justin and what making a female road trip movie was like.

Teenhollywood: You were instrumental in getting this film made and written for you. What kinds of decisions did you make on what you wanted on the screen?

Britney: (I was involved with) the whole generalization of the girls going on the road trip and I had a lot of input into their characters and what each one was going through. Just the whole story line, as far as why (my character) Lucy was going and why Taryn (Manning) was going. The writer (Shonda Rimes) came in and helped me elaborate on that a little bit. It was kind of a combined effort between both of us. I came up with the general idea, but the whole story and all the ideas (Rhimes) helped me with...

Crossroads In Thearters Today!
Today is the opening day for Britney's first movie, Crossroads.

Box Office Guru is predicting $14M over the four-day weekend.

Produced by MTV Films, Crossroads has focused its sights on teen and young adult moviegoers and has promoted heavily in that direction.

But the film's racy content could make things a bit difficult for the road ahead. Sure the picture carries a PG-13 rating, but Britney is a goddess to every eight-year-old girl in the country. And they'll be lining up for sure this weekend. But Crossroads touches on difficult issues like teen pregnancy, underage drinking, losing one's virginity, and rape which could surprise many mothers who will undoubtedly be turning into chaperones this weekend and could spread bad word-of-mouth.

Still, Britney sells. And her legions of fans have already circled this weekend on their calendars and are unlikely to mind the film's shameless product placement for Pepsi products. Crossroads will certainly be a bigger box office hit than Mariah Carey's Glitter or Madonna's last excuse for a film, 2000's The Next Best Thing. Analysts will, however, be watching to see how Crossroads opens as compared to last month's A Walk to Remember starring teen pop singer Mandy Moore in a squeaky clean role which debuted with $12.2M. Opening in 2,380 theaters with little direct competition, Crossroads might premiere with roughly $14M over the four-day weekend.

Entertainment Weekly Reviews Crossroads
Entertainment Weekly has gotten up their review up of Crossroads and gave it a very good score of a B+!

The millions of preteens and their parents who love her for her Scotchgarded girl-woman perfection aren't going to be disappointed by Crossroads. Heck and gosh, neither was I, so impressed and even charmed am I by the expertise with which Britney has been gently launched as a movie star. This girl-dream road trip, a kid sister to ''Boys on the Side,'' with a friendly jiggle or two of ''Coyote Ugly'' thrown in, not only makes excellent use of the singer's sweetly coltish acting abilities, but it also promotes a standardized set of sturdy values with none of Mariah Carey's desperate ''Glitter,'' or any of Mandy Moore's gummy pap in ''A Walk to Remember.'' Family is important, but good friends can make things better for those with imperfect families. Drinking alcohol is icky. No one worth knowing smokes. As always, an American girl should follow her bliss -- but she should also phone home.

Britney And Justin Acting In Love Story?
Herald Sun is reporting that Britney Spears is to star with boyfriend Justin Timberlake in a remake of the film classic Love Story. Spears, 20, whose first film Crossroads is released in the US this weekend, would take the role played by Ali MacGraw in the 1970 hit.
Timberlake, also 20, would be the new Ryan O'Neal, who discovers his lover is dying from cancer. Film studio Paramount was mum yesterday. A spokesman said he could neither confirm nor deny Spears and Timberlake had signed up. The Arthur Hiller-directed Love Story made big stars out of O'Neal and MacGraw. And it produced a theme song still played today. As for O'Neal and MacGraw, their roles have been reversed in real life. It is O'Neal who is suffering from life-threatening leukemia, while his screen pal provides support. Timberlake, of 'N Sync, and Spears are the couple in Tinseltown today. While they may have fine voices, their acting skills are largely unknown.

Britney and Justin Design T-shirts for Charity
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake unveiled their exclusive T-shirt designs to benefit charity at Planet Hollywood Times Square last week. Spears and Timberlake teamed up with Planet Hollywood to help raise funds and awareness for their charities. The three different T-shirt designs will be available for purchase at all domestic Planet Hollywood locations as well as London, Paris and Disneyland Paris.

Spears’ designs are a representation of her feelings following the attacks of 9/11. One shirt features her handprint with a red, white and blue design in a patriotic salute printed on a standard black cotton T-shirt. The second shirt designed by Spears features her two hands arranged in the form of a dove-in-flight reflecting her hope for peace and it is printed on a fitted black cotton skinny-tee. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts, $22.00 for the standard and $24.00 for the skinny, will benefit the Britney Spears Foundation.

“I am so thrilled to be able to raise funds for my Foundation with the sale of the shirts. The designs came straight from my heart and I hope all my fans will help support the Foundation and its many worthy programs by buying the shirt,” said Britney.

Justin Timberlake has chosen to depict the tattoo he has on his upper left arm in an artistic rendition of the actual design. His gold cross against a black background creates a striking image on the standard black cotton T-shirt. All three shirts incorporate the logos of the charity along with the Planet Hollywood logo on the back of the shirt. Proceeds from the sale of this shirt, selling at $22.00 will benefit the Justin Timberlake Foundation. A skinny T-shirt version of Justin’s tattoo shirt will be available soon for $24.00

“My T-shirt design is very personal to me as are the goals of my Foundation. Supporting music programs in the schools will help nurture new talent that might have gone unnoticed without proper funding,” Timberlake said.

But Britney says: 'I just am'
From the Chicago Tribune: "She's cool, she's not. She's talented, she isn't. You love her, you hate her.

Go ahead: Adore or abhor Britney Spears. But there's no denying that the 20-year-old pop princess--like her idol Madonna--has become a one-name icon, a singing, dancing, acting corporation: Britney Inc.

KidNews was part of a group of people who sat down recently with Britney to talk about her album, "Britney"; her new movie, "Crossroads" (PG-13, out Friday); and what it feels like to be one of the most adored, and most criticized, people on the planet. Here's some of what she had to say:

The girl in love

It's no secret that Britney and her boyfriend, 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake, practically grew up together. They were both on the "Mickey Mouse Club" and became superstars at the same time. Because of their history, Justin may be one of the few people who understands what it's like to be Britney. "His opinion means a lot to me," Britney says. "I mean, he's everything to me. If I have something that's really weighing on my mind, he's always there for me."

How did Justin react when he saw her debut movie, "Crossroads"? According to Britney, he laughed off a scene in which her character, Lucy, cranks up 'N Sync's "Bye Bye Bye" on the radio and her hunky co-star's character (Anson Mount as Ben) reacts by steering the car off the road because he hates the song. But he was less comfortable with another scene: The first time Justin saw her kissing Mount on screen, he had to turn his face away..."

Britney Personally Congratulates Olympic Gold Medal Winner
WENN reported that BRITNEY SPEARS delivered a personal congratulations to Olympic gold snowboarder KELLY CLARKE - and asked for her autograph. Clarke, 18, confessed she was thinking about hanging her medal above the autographed picture of Britney the pop star signed for her, 'Rip it up, Kelly.' Britney said, "I just want to congratulate you on everything you've done. It's very very cool. You should be very proud of yourself. "I totally remember signing that for you. You could give me your autograph now. I would love that."

Britney Spears In Crossroads: A Movie Star?
Today on CDNOW, they ran an article in which they talked about Britney and her new movie, Crossroads which hits thearters this weeekend.

So we know she's not a girl, not yet a woman, but how about a movie star?

Reigning Queen of Pop Britney Spears actually holds her own in Crossroads, her film debut, which hits theaters nationwide on Friday (Feb. 15). Although the movie is essentially an unexceptional coming-of-age chick flick, Spears and her co-stars manage to have a genuinely good time and bring the audience along for at least one leg of the ride.

Spears convincingly plays the innocent act as Georgia virgin Lucy, the high school valedictorian (it's a movie, remember?) who's trying to come to terms with growing into womanhood after graduation. On a quest to find the mother who abandoned her as a child (played by Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall, who really could pass for Spears' mom), Lucy catches a cross-country ride toward Los Angeles with two childhood friends (the delightful Taryn Manning and Zoë Saldana) and a misunderstood ex-con (Anson Mount), who doubles as her love interest.

Britney Makes Big Screen Debut at Crossroads Premiere
Ananova reported that Britney Spears has turned actress with the premiere of her first film, Crossroads. The 20-year-old arrived at the event in Los Angeles with her boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Britney said she was confident her film debut will not be a flop. She is the first singer to make a big screen debut since Mariah Carey's film Glitter, which became a laughing stock with critics and made a massive loss at the box office. Britney said: "It wasn't easy for me. The whole transition was a little scary at first, but I'm so happy I did it. "I'm very, very happy with the movie, so we'll see what happens. I'll be curious to see. I'm ambitious and I like to challenge myself and I like to push myself and so it made me want to really go there just to see if I could do it. Just to see. "But it's not even so much about it being the biggest movie in the world, as long as my fans can go to it and be touched by it in its own way." Britney stars as an American teenager who ends her time at school by taking a trip to Los Angeles with her boyfriend Ben, played by Anson Mount, and two childhood friends, played by Taryn Manning and Zoe Saldana. The group go in search of Spears' character's mother, played by actress Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha in Sex and the City. During the film, her character loses her virginity off-camera. She said: "Actually, the writer came up with that. It was in the script. It totally fitted. I thought it was necessary for the character. I thought it made sense."

Britney and Justin Get Custom Toliet Seats With Their Faces
WENN reported that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake have spent $21,000 on custom-made toilet seats bearing their faces. The couple are currently redecorating their $4.2 million Beverly Hills mansion, which is fast becoming the ultimate lovenest. Justin's face is on Britney's toilet seat, while he has Britney on his - except that the images are of the couple when they were kids performing on the MICKEY MOUSE CLUB. Customised toilet seats are the latest craze catching the imagination of Hollywood's overpaid stars, yet Britney's are said to be the most lavish yet. She says, "I just couldn't resist ordering one for me and one for Justin. People might consider spending that much on toilet seats excessive, but for us they are a reminder of how far we've come since our days on the Mickey Mouse Club.

Lynne's Corner Updated: "From New York to New Orleans"
Here is the updated Lynne's corner from BritneySpears.com,
"Britney worked for a week on creating sketches for Saturday Night Live with the writers. Half of the fun is coming up with the ideas for the show. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did. My favorite sketch was the “Barbie” one. SNL gave a great wrap party after the show. Alec Baldwin, one of my favorite actors, was there. The SNL cast and crew partied with Britney’s crew.

Britney and Justin’s charities threw a Super Bowl party at Planet Hollywood Sunday, February 3rd. The theme of the party was New Orleans’ Mardi Gras. There was a charity auction, with plenty of Britney and Justin items on the auction block. We raised money and had fun at the same time. The catering was superb. Nothing compares to Louisiana “spicy” cuisine.

We had our hearts set on the flea markets, but there was just no time. In the hour I did shop, my wallet was stolen out of my purse. I will no longer own a purse that has no zipper or closing. I know… What was I thinking?!?!

Cosmopolitan Magazine hosted a luncheon in honor of Britney, their “Fun Fearless Female” of the year. We met some really impressive people. It was a beautiful affair. We left the luncheon for the airport en route to New Orleans.

New Orleans is normally wild this time of year. The Super Bowl brought extra tourists and events, making it even wilder. In addition, MTV hosted a show in New Orleans, hosted by Carson Daly, with many popular guests. There were several crazy contests on stage. I got a glimpse of someone walking on, laying on, and even jumping on glass! Brit’s dressing room was in a haunted house in the French Quarter. Jamie Lynn must have asked the owner a thousand questions about the ghost that lived there.

The New Orleans premier of “Crossroads” was perfect. MTV sponsored the Park Lane Academy senior class’s transportation and attendance to the event. Many of Britney’s teachers chaperoned the trip. It was wonderful to view for the first time her first movie with teachers and students from her own school.

Britney is on her way to the NBA playoffs in Philadelphia. She will perform there. She’ll then fly on to Los Angeles for her L.A. premiere of Crossroads. Then I’ll meet her in New York for the New York premiere.

In between all of these events, Jamie Lynn had a championship basketball game. I drove to Jackson, Mississippi with her and Crystal after school. Britney got home from New Orleans at the same time we did from the ballgame that night.

Bryan has been hard to catch up with lately. At this moment, he is with Lauren in Salt Lake City where she is working with the Olympics. Hopefully, he and Lauren will be back in New York in time to join us for the New York “Crossroads” premiere which is also a charity event. I would love to have the whole family together a few more times during the year besides just holidays.

Gotta run... talk to you soon!"

Looks Like Britney Did It Again
From The Vancouver Sun "Those who believe in the natural order of things can understand why New Orleans is crawling with camera crews and entertainment reporters this week. They are hear to witness the rebirth of Britney Spears, to record her emergence as Britney, Movie Star. Or, as she might say, Oops, I Did It Again.

After her success in television (The New Mickey Mouse Club) and pop music (40 million albums sold and counting), it seems a natural progression for her to conquer the big screeen. Spears, one of the brightest stars on the celebrity map, wants to make movies, and she wants to be taken seriously. As light and frothy as some of her pop songs are, you sense a resolve in this new career quest. Spears wants to make it in movies, and at the ripe old age of 20.

And she is not afraid to court controversy. While most pop stars with young followings who make the transition to films choose safe, non-controversial stories, her new movie Crossroads deals with first sexual experiences (including that of her own character, Lucy) and teen pregnancy (costar Taryn Manning plays a pregnant teenager, her plight the result of a drunken tryst).

While the film isn't exactly Panic in Needle Park, it does take on subjects which may alienate some of her pre-pubescent fans. It doesn't appear to bother her.

"I think [these issues] are something that's out there, and it's something that's important to deal with," says Britney, who looks tiny in her trademark midriff-revealing pants and top as she kneels on the couch of the Ritz-Carlton hotel suite in New Orleans.

"I wanted to do a teen movie that had real teen issues in it."

Indeed, the issue of her virginity is something she has been hounded about herself over the past few years.

But after years of saying she wanted to stay celibate until she was married, Britney recently told Hollywood.com that she regretted ever talking openly about her virginity. "I wish I'd never said anything about being a virgin now," said Britney, whose boyfriend is 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake.

The world is buzzing for news of Britney. New Orleans itself hasn't seen a week like this since its bustling Golden Age 150 years ago: the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras and Britney all within days of each other.

The only female artist to debut in the No. 1 spot for all her three albums (Baby One More Time, Oops! I Did It Again and Britney) returned to her home state to help promote the movie, which opens everywhere (and we mean everywhere) in North America on Feb. 15..."

Britney Ad Watched More Than Super Bowl Highlights
Ananova reported television commercials starring Britney Spears shown during America's Super Bowl have been replayed more than the highlights of the dramatic game. The American football contest was the closest result in recent years, but owners of digital video recorders prefer to watch Spears promoting Pepsi. The TiVo recorders allow users to skip the advertisements on programmes they have recorded, but a survey found users were skipping their recordings of the game in favour of the Spears commercials. The TiVo company monitored 10,000 of its 280,000 subscribers and found they were watching the singer in an ad set in the 1950s more than any other part of the Super Bowl. In the black-and-white commercial a modestly-dressed Spears sings in a traditional American lemonade shop and ends with a Marilyn Monroe-style wink at the camera. The commercial was one of a series of five 30-second slots which cost the company a total of £8.5 million to make and broadcast. Last year viewing figures showed that more people tuned in for the Super Bowl advertisements than for the game itself.

Britney Could Not Stop Laughing At Mike Myers
WENN reported that Britney Spears committed the cardinal of acting when filming the new AUSTIN POWERS movie - she couldn't stop laughing. The curvy teenager, who is expanding her talents to the silver screen after scoring international fame as a singer, was cracked up by lead star Mike Myers' 'pelvic dancing' when trying to shoot her cameo appearance in the comedy. Britney explains, "I was so excited. I've seen the first two films and I think Mike's the funniest man in the world. "It was hard to keep in character, trying to be this sexy vixen while he pelvic dances and cracks me up."

Man Tresspassing at Britney's House
AP reported that Security guards patrolling Britney Spears' Hollywood Hills home called police when they caught a man allegedly trespassing, a police spokesman said. Officers arrived at the singer's home around 11 a.m. Tuesday and saw a security detail detaining a man who allegedly was on the property, Officer Jason Lee said. But the guards declined to make a report and the unidentified man was allowed to go. "No one pressed charges. There's no crime," Lee said. The 20-year-old Spears was in New York at the time, receiving a Fun Fearless Female Award from Cosmopolitan magazine. She makes her film debut in "Crossroads," which opens Feb. 15.

Britney Gets Cosmopolitan Award
AP reported that Britney Spears is fun, fearless -- and to the point. After hearing praise from Cosmopolitan Editor in Chief Kate White, publisher Susan Plagemann and her own mother at the magazine's Fun Fearless Female Award luncheon on Monday, Spears spent only a minute at the podium thanking organizers. From her seat at The Four Seasons restaurant, however, Spears seemed to enjoy a series of taped congratulatory messages from Destiny's Child, Celine Dion and boyfriend Justin Timberlake of 'N Sync. The singer laughed and turned a little red when Timberlake called her "sexy." "I really agree with your selection!" Lynne Spears told those attending the luncheon. "It's quite a whirlwind lately she's (Britney's) had. ... She's had fun every minute." The 20-year-old's new song, "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," is featured in her upcoming movie, "Crossroads," which opens in the United States on Feb. 15. Spears was chosen for the magazine's award because she brings out the fun and fearless side in other women, said White, who admitted that she sometimes uses a hairbrush as a "microphone" and pretends to be the pop star.

Pressplay Signs Up Britney
Ananova reported that Pressplay has signed a deal to ensure Britney Spears, N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys feature on its web music service. The agreement with Zomba music means all artists on the Jive, Silvertone and Verity labels will be added to its library. Pressplay is a joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group. Along with rival MusicNet, it constitutes mainstream music's attempt to repeat the success of Napster while generating revenue for the industry. Users are invited to listen to tracks streamed over the web, or downloaded onto their desktops, for a monthly fee. Pressplay chief executive Andy Schuon described the deal as an important step towards including "the vast majority of the world's popular music" in the service.

Britney May Return To School
Ananova reported that Britney Spears says she is considering a return to education. The 20-year-old singer left school at nine and was taught at home by her parents as she appeared on American television and began a recording career. But she has told the New York Daily News she may explore higher education options after her first film is released. Crossroads, which stars Spears as a top student who goes on a trip across America with her friends, is due to be released in the US later this month and in Britain at the end of March. Asked if she might go to university, Spears said: "It's funny you should ask that, because I've really, really been thinking about doing that. "I thought, maybe when I finished this movie, I could explore it." But she also said she would like to appear in more films, and has already secured a cameo role as herself in the next Austin Powers film.

Britney Talks Crossroads With RollingStone.com
Britney did a interview with RollingStone.com to discuss her new movie, "Crossroads".

Reigning pop diva Britney Spears had a big year in 2001 -- singing at the Super Bowl, landing a Pepsi endorsement deal, releasing her third solo album, Britney, touring the U.S., and turning twenty. Mention any of this to Britney and you'll find her unfazed. Taking to Madonna's school of reinvention, in 2002 Britney has already surprised and delighted fans with her American Music Awards performance of "Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman," in a simple evening gown, sans dancers and snakes. Fans now await the release of her first leading role in a movie, as Lucy in Crossroads, which opens on February 15th. During a Friday conference call with press, Britney talked about crossing over onto the big screen.

When did you feel you completely connected with your character and became Lucy?

I had a week before the movie where I really just sat down and really thought through the character and who she was. I think probably two weeks into it I really had a good idea of who she was and what she was about. But I think just playing her every day and the more interaction with the other characters made me feel her character even more so.

Go read the rest of the interview here.

thanks tiffany
