Britney's Joke Engagement Ring

ET on MTV reports: So what is up with blushing BRITNEY SPEARS and that rock she has been proudly wearing on her engagement finger?! Could it be from former hubby for less-than-48-hours JASON ALEXANDER? STEVEN COJOCARU got to the bottom of the bling-bling mystery, as he caught up with the famed runaway bride for a chat about her tour, couture, and more. As Cojo sat down with Britney, he noticed that "the ring" was conspicuously missing. "It's in my dressing room," Britney smiled. But Cojo pushed on, and asked the big question: "Does it mean anything?" Britney's reply? "Maybe a little bit. It's just a joke, just the whole ... next question!" Britney even admitted that the diamond was actually not even real bling: "It's fake. It's not real!" With the mystery solved, Cojo and Britney could then dish about the pop diva's life and her Onyx Hotel Tour, which kicks off March 2nd in San Diego. The "vibe" behind the show? "I will say there's a bunch of characters throughout the tour," Britney explained. "It's cool! It's the first tour where I am doing 17 songs. It's a really long show, but I'm working my stamina up right now (in rehearsals)." Britney says her solace on the hectic road tour is actually performing, which she loves. She also keeps her tour bus really "cozy" with lots of candles. For anyone that can't see the seductive singer in person, Britney's concert will air on the Showtime special, "Britney Spears -- Live from Miami," March 28th at 9 p.m. She revealed that a secret guest star will join her for that particular evening: "There's a very special guest. It's a male; he's an amazing artist. I worship him!" Britney also assured all that there will be no "Super Bowl" halftime-like antics: "No, it's going to be better!"

Britney DVD & More

As Britney Spears readies for her tour, she's making sure there's plenty of her to go around while fans wait for her to come around. The singer's about to release a DVD that'll include pre-tour concert footage as well as bonus tracks. Two new songs are found on the CD portion of Spears' "In the Zone" DVD, due March 23. The first is called "Don't Hang Up," and it finds the singer pleading on the phone for her lover to keep her satisfied long-distance. The second song is the P. Diddy-produced "The Answer," which both artists had talked up before the album's release (see "Britney Talks New Album But Remains Coy On First Single" and "Britney Raps On New Album, Teaches P. Diddy A Thing Or Two"). In the song, Spears sings that her lover is the answer to all her needs: "Who can hold me tight, keep me warm through the night?/ Who can wipe my tears when it's wrong, make it right?/ Who can give me love till I'm satisfied?/ Who's the one I need in my life?" Video clips of Spears' first two singles, "Me Against the Music" and "Toxic" (as well as the "Making the Video" episode of the latter), are also featured. The bulk of the DVD concentrates on the live performances that last year helped tease Spears' then-upcoming album. Some of those shows were short — such as her two-song set for MTV's Spankin' New Music week and the half-hour surprise appearance at club Rain in Las Vegas (see "Britney Romps On Bed, Loses Her Shirt At Surprise Vegas Show"). But her also-included hour-long ABC concert special, "Britney Spears: In the Zone," offers somewhat of a preview of her upcoming tour. Shot in New York's Gotham Hall in October, the show featured stage settings evoking "Cabaret," and Spears is taking the New York theater motif even further with the Onyx Hotel tour. According to a source close to the production, this tour is "less Vegas" than previous productions, with no stage extended into the audience. The trek's "Onyx Hotel" resembles Tommy Tune's Broadway musical "Grand Hotel," which portrayed a day in the life of the Berlin Grand Hotel in 1928. Spears has been decked out in 1920s/1930s hairstyles in promotional pictures for the tour and her Showtime concert special, which airs live from the Miami tour stop on March 28 at 9 p.m. ET (tape-delayed on the West Coast). Spears will take the role of hostess of the Onyx Hotel, with her dancers becoming the hotel staffers and audience members finding themselves to be the invited guests. The tour kicks off March 2 in San Diego and hits 25 North American cities before wrapping up April 12 in New York (see "Britney Spears Lines Up Tour For In The Zone"). Following the North American tour, Spears heads to Europe on April 27, playing England, Scotland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Ireland. Closing out the European tour, Spears hits the stage at Portugal's Rock in Rio-Lisbon festival on June 5. Well the Onyx Hotel is about to open and all of our employees are busy getting ready for our Grand Opening…..March 2nd in San Diego. Welcome to the Onyx Hotel Tour 2004. It is about 4 weeks away from opening night and our staff is coming in from around the USA to rehearse for the big tour. Many of our regular fans know how much fun a Britney Spears show is and you will not be disappointed. I don’t want to give away any surprises but I will just say our last show, Dream within Dream, in my opinion, was more Las Vegas-style. This time around it will be more NY Theatre-style. As Britney’s Tour Manager for the past 4 years, it has been my responsibility to make sure the proper planning is done before the tour, so when we get to a city near you, everything will be in place. One of my responsibilities during rehearsal is to keep and maintain a working rehearsal schedule for Britney and our performers. We have Britney and our dancers working in one room and our band rehearsing in another. As we all learn our parts, we will all come together in one big space and put it ALL together. At the same time, our wardrobe department in busy fitting all our performers for costumes for the show. We have at least 7 to 8 people that will be working on costumes full time during the rehearsal period. I am busy booking hotels across the country in conjunction with our travel agent to make sure when we arrive, our accommodations are in place. I speak with the bus company we use to ensure the buses we travel on, are comfortable and in good working order. I work with the record company and coordinate all of the press interviews and photographers that Britney will encounter along the way. Britney's Seventeen Magazine Interview Script (April 2004) By Deborah Baer Everyone around me has something to say about Britney Spears. And believe me, most people really don’t know anything about her. They’ve just heard things here and there. How could they not? My aunt was in Las Vegas the day Britney got married. “It’s just a publicity stunt,” she said, like she knew. A waitress where I have my breakfast explained it all. “Britney? She’s a tramp… the way she parades her body around. What’s with the belly button out all the time?” Yet another expert. I see Britney’s face everywhere I go. I hear her music coming up through the floorboards from my downstairs neighbor’s. From the other room, the television is saying something about her red hair and new video. I’m haunted by Britney, and I’m not sure why. Then the call comes from this magazine. They tell me, “If anyone should know what’s going on with her, what’s she really thinking, you should.” They’re asking me because I’m a highly intuitive person, a professional psychic. People consult me when they need answers. I was born with an ability to feel and understand people, even people I’ve never met. And I’ve never met, never even seen Britney. But she reminds me of another young girl I saw once, in Kathmandu, Nepal. She stared down at me from behind the shutters on a carved wooden balcony for just a moment, until her attendants whisked her away. She was probably about 7 years old but made to look like a woman – adorned in silk and gold, covered in jewels, her dark eyes outlined in black kohl. I was told that she was the kumari devi, the loving goddess, chosen as a small child to be the symbol of power and sanctity of virginity. The most unusual thing about the living goddess is that her feet are never allowed to touch the ground. On the day she gets her first period, she’s thrown out of the palace, and a new living goddess is chosen. Have we chosen Britney Spears as our living goddess, our own pure, virginal woman-child? If so, then when she does something we don’t like, we’re sure to be disappointed. She never asked for this – a role model is chosen by the person who needs one. If you need to follow Britney, be like her – playful, foolish, successful, and discovering. But remember she’s a Hollywood artist, an entertainer depicting autobiographical stories. When we get a glimpse of her behind the shutters of what we think is her private life, we think we’ve caught her. And before long we’ll be looking for a new living goddess. When I heard about Britney’s marriage, I smiled. Married, annulled, cleaned up, and sent away – it all happened in 55 hours, just about the length of time you get to be a teenager these days. At 22, Britney already has her whole life behind her and so much more ahead. I think she chose Jason Alexander to be her lawful, wedded husband because she just wanted to go home. He knew her before she was the Britney Spears the whole world knows – or thinks it knows. Maybe just for one moment she wanted to see what her life would’ve been like if she’d taken a different path – the one she might’ve taken if she still lived in her hometown in Louisiana. The path that most of her childhood girlfriends are taking. What do we know about Britney and Jason? Does it really matter? What Britney did was tell us that she’s not the virgin goddess we wanted her to be. She bleeds. I think she just wanted to touch the ground. 17: Are you a spiritual person? B: Yeah. I’m just searching right now. I grew up being Baptist, and I started traveling the world. It’s so weird – sometimes you wish you had the naiveness to stay with one religion and go with it. But after seeing the world and seeing all these different religions out there, who’s to say that I’m right, and who’s to say that they’re right? 17: Do you think about why you’re on the path you’re on? B: Oh definitely. Like why I’m on this journey? Sometimes I’ll read things and I’m like, Was this all predestined? Was I in heaven one day and said, This is the life I’m gonna choose? Yeah, I do have those thoughts sometimes. Why am I who I am right now? 17: What’s been most interesting so far? B: The whole journey itself. Me just searching and finding out and always being curious. Kabbalah has kind of helped me identify why I’m on this road. I’m not with Kabbalah or with any other religion. But Kabbalah is very interesting to me right now. 17: As a celebrity, how have things changed for you as far as love and relationships go? B: You know what? When I was in high school and I would break up with somebody – and it’s a small town so everybody knows about it – I really didn’t care that everybody knew. I was oblivious. I was dealing with my own pain. The only time it kind of makes you feel weird is when people make note of it and bring it up. Because if you want to talk about it, you’ll bring it up and talk about it to them. That’s the only thing that’s hard about being a celebrity and it being out there. People will bring it up in interviews, and it’s really like you don’t want to go there and talk about it, because you’re doing that in therapy! [Laughs hard] That’s the weirdest thing in the world. 17: You go to therapy? B: Yeah. [Laughs] 17: With all that’s happened, do you believe in life that there are “mistakes”? B: I do think that everything happens for a reason. Also, for me, it’s like your parents have to let go of you. The best gift that they can give is to let you go out into the world and mess up, because it’s allowing you to be free and learn who you are. And I think that’s a cool thing, to make mistakes sometimes. You do learn a lot about yourself. You have reality checks sometimes when you make mistakes, and that kind of moves you onto another path. I don’t condone the behavior I’ve had over the past year. I don’t think there’s an excuse. I just think sometimes you have wild spells, and you learn from that. But the things that I did weren’t very cool. I just wanted to put that out there. 17: Do you feel like you are constantly being pulled in different directions? B: It’s a sticky situation in my life right now. It’s really about creating a balance. I’ve been doing this since I was a young girl, and you do always have people around you telling you what to do. They’re looking out for your best interests, and you understand that. But where do you draw the line and say what you really want to do? I think a lot of the things I’ve done that seem absurd were out of rebellion and out of wanting to break free. I know that sounds weird. Can’t live in a prison. 17: What’s that? You feel like you live in a prison? B: Well, sometimes, yeah. 17: Do you ever get a chance to be alone? B: Recently I don’t like being around a lot of people. I went through a stage after my last tour when I felt like I couldn’t be around crowds much. I was kinda hibernating. In a weird way, it was like I felt like I couldn’t express myself. Then all of a sudden, I had this burst of rebellion, like, I’m gonna do what I want to do! But now lately I’ve been in this real inside-myself mode. I like to be alone. 17: Do you ever feel like you missed out on your teenage years? B: I was very motivated when I was little, and I was very ambitious. I knew there was something else out there. I know that sounds cheesy and cliché. But I kinda did. My home was being onstage. And the quicker I could get out of the surroundings I was in and feel at home like that, I would do anything to perform. So I got away for two years. Then I came back and I went to high school and I played basketball. I don’t think I missed out on my teenage years. No, not at all. Right now I feel like a little bit of normalcy. Lynne's Corner was updated on February 14th by Fe: Just trying to get y'all up to date as quickly as possible so I can get on the road with Britney & keep y'all up with her day by day! Ok, we've completed the Toxic Video now & Britney hops on the next flight out of L.A. for a hometown Christmas in Kentwood! Believe me when I tell you, Lynne goes ALL out & the house honestly looks like a Winter Wonderland! It was so beautifully decorated and the Spirit of Christmas got ya' the minute you walked thru the door! Britney participated in all the usual Family excitement & traditions. Her favorite gift this year was a necklace that her Mom gave her & Jamie Lynn alike. It was a tiny cross and a tiny heart hanging from a beautiful white gold chain! It was dainty & tiny JUST like Britney likes her jewelry to be! For a fabulous after-Christmas surprise, Britney took her Mom, Aunt Sandra, Laura Lynn, Jamie Lynn & 2 friends for a Girls Week on the British West Indies Island of Nevis! All this way for some MUCH needed girl time, giggles & relaxation. While on the Island your main mode of transport is a golf cart. (SH....but guess who wrecked hers the first day....NO, not the underage drivers, but Britney herself!! HA) On an afternoon shopping spree they saw monkeys swinging from the trees, and goats & chickens roaming the streets! Now, talk about a trip highlight (LITERALLY!), Britney had the wild notion that everyone could use a little spiff up & decided to book a spa trip where she insisted they ALL have highlights put in their hair to give it that sunkissed look!! They had a BLAST & looked FABULOUS to boot! After 5 days of beautiful sunshine, they had to head back to reality & Laura Lynn was missing her puppy Gaby, so home it was!! It was a fantastic trip & the pictures are GREAT! After all, wildlife, sunshine, shopping & all the folks you love around you---who could ask for anything more!! Now that you're caught up to 2004, I'll write next about our trip to Europe to finish promoting the album!! Til next time. Britney Turns Celibate?

From: Teen Hollywood Pop rebel Britney Spears has given up sex as she renews her relationship with Christianity. According to British magazine Star, the Toxic singer has vowed to remain celibate after a string of disastrous relationships and dates with Justin Timberlake, Colin Farrell, Fred Durst and her married choreographer Columbus Short. Spears is seeing two counsellors and paying regular visits to church after her wild behavior of the past year peaked last month with her shock wedding in Las Vegas to childhood pal Jason Alexander, which was annulled 55 hours later. A friend of Britney's says, "The last month has brought on this huge realization for Britney. She's in a mess, but she's trying as hard as she can to sort it all out. "She has now decided to stay celibate for a while and to start going to church regularly. She is also seeing two counsellors. She knows she had to do this to get her life back in order. "That wedding was not what a good Christian would have done and Britney knew it. Straight after the incident her mother Lynne bought her the book Conversations with God, which made her realize just how inappropriate her behavior was." This is coming from a tabloid, so take it as you want. Some of what is said is true but some is twisted and rewritten to sound the way it does - just like a tabloid does.

MTV and Britney Link For Network's First Global Tour Deal

Billboard.biz reported that MTV is embarking on its first global tour sponsorship, for the spring outing by Britney Spears, Billboard.biz has learned. MTV's sponsorship will include on-air, online, and on-stage components to support Spears as she tours in support of "In the Zone". Good for Britney because this is going to be huge.

"Toxic" Could Have Been Better?

Britney Spears’ latest show-stopping video, “Toxic,” which is a current TRL fave, could’ve been even better, according to an insider. The video, which was originally scheduled as a two-day shoot, stretched unexpectedly into three when the special effects supervisor made an emergency trip to the hospital. The SES was hit in the head with a pulley he was rigging to the ceiling, thereby removing himself from the set in a permanent way and forcing the crew to rethink a couple of stunts. For example, what was supposed to be a live-action shot of Tyson Beckford flipping backward off a motorcycle had to be replaced with computer-generated images. The only person not disappointed by this particular turn of events was Tyson Beckford, we presume. Other on-set tidbits include: Ever wonder how Britney gets the energy to be a singing sensation, super vixen, and quickie-marriage-and-divorce uh…haver? Red Bull, baby. Lots and lots of Red Bull. PLUS: Britney sang “Happy Birthday” to model and mega-stud Beckford on the set, who barely noticed, as he was still busily thanking his lucky stars he didn’t have to flip backward off a motorcycle. Britney Wants To Sue The Star!

Webindia123.com reported that Britney Spears, who loves to stay in the limelight, has slammed American tabloid The Star for publishing unflattering articles about her wild partying and things she never said. According to a report from ratethemusic.com, the 22-year-old singer has warned the magazine in the past also and doesn't understand why taking a vacation is turned into a "wild drinking binge." "That magazine had done a bunch of really bad articles about me. There was nothing I could do about it, but either we were going to sue them or they were going to do something more positive and real and say something so I wouldn't sue them", Spears said.

Britney Played Part In Marriage Breakdown Claims Dancer

Ananova reported that a dancer claims Britney Spears played a part in the breakdown of his marriage. Columbus Short, 21, was linked with the Oops, I did it Again star towards the end of last year. Short told Star magazine: "It's true I slept with Britney, [but] we never had sex because another person was in the room at the time. "We shared a bed and were really close, kissing and hugging. The chemistry was magical... our feelings were so strong." At the time, Short's wife was pregnant. He went on: "It would be fair to say Britney caused major problems in our marriage. Sadly, we're now getting divorced." He claimed he first became close to the 22-year-old star during her European tour last year. Photographs later emerged of them in an embrace in California. But Short said Spear's mother, Lynne, stepped in to put a stop to the relationship. He added: "Despite everything that happened, I'll always remember those special moments with Britney." Spear's New York publicist could not be immediately reached for comment.

Britney In Fear

Just weeks after making honeymoon headlines, Britney Spears faces new fears. We saw the first signs when a wall of security guards herded the star through Los Angeles International Airport. Now Spears is so concerned for her safety, sources tell "Extra", that she’s worn a bulletproof vest and hired dozens more bodyguards. Carolyn Schaeffer, senior editor for Us Weekly magazine, says the high-profile performer is getting the kind of attention no one wants. "Britney and her family ultimately call all the shots in terms of her security," Schaeffer reveals. "Security around Britney lately has gotten much tighter." Spears has already suffered stalker problems. After his pestering reached illegal levels, Masahiko Shizawa was court-ordered to stay away from Spears. This week however, Britney’s security concerns hit a new high. While preparing for her "On-air" appearance live at Hollywood and Highland, the singer was so worried that all invited press was instead told to stay away. Christina Aguilera has taken a step to end the bitter rivalry with Britney Spears by writing a letter to her. The Dirrty singer has said that she was shocked and angry when an interview she gave to 'Blender' magazine was twisted to make her appear callous towards Britney. According to Ratethemusic.com, Aguilera appeared on the MTV show 'TRL' in America and was keen to set the record straight, as she urged Britney to get in touch with her. "It was so the magazine pitting us. They so knew what they were doing. I'm an honest person and they just took my honesty and turned it around," an angry Aguilera said. I think she's (Britney) a great girl. I do. She's a sweet girl, but this business can make anybody get caught in a whirlwind and caught up in the wrong things. Get back to basics, Britney," she added. "I did write her a letter regarding the Blender article and it was very personal and it was about the fact that being two female artists, we've got to be there for each other. And, no matter what gets blown out of proportion, I said I didn't stand behind the article," she said. But I have yet to hear back from Miss Brit. So, Britney, I'd like an answer. Britney Makes Altar Call At California Church

LifeSiteNews.com reported that the latest installment of the Britney Spears self-promotion saga involves a religious "experience" at a Christian church. Immediately following her 55 hour "marriage", Spears has followed with another mockery of Christianity. Spears and her mother, attended a service at the Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, California at which they made an "altar call". The altar call is a common practice in some Protestant congregational churches where, after a sermon, a person is called upon to make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ. The British newspaper the Daily Record reports that Spears and her mother were "moved" at the sermon and came forward hand in hand to make a public profession of Christian faith. Onlookers described the service as very emotional. It remains to be seen if the pop singer's "experience" amounts to a conversion or if it is another crass publicity stunt or the workings of a deeply confused mind. A similar incident with actress Jane Fonda which took place a few years ago has not resulted in the actress altering her strident pro-abortion stand. Britney Spears caused mayhem this week when she went shopping for small ornaments at London's Heathrow Airport. The Toxic singer, 22, ensured her minders prevented any fans from disrupting her shopping spree at the airport's trinket shop Past Times, where she picked up an assortment of picture frames and cushions. An onlooker says, "She (Spears) had five minders to secure the shop. "It was surprising that they were all making such a fuss." The blonde singer was reportedly smitten with the shop's jewellery, telling staff, "I just love all this beautiful fairy jewellery."

"Toxic" Video Removed From MTV Daytime Rotation

The Los Angeles Sun reported that under intense scrutiny following Janet Jackson's breast-baring performance during last week's Super Bowl, MTV has quietly plucked a number of its edgiest music videos out of its daytime rotation. The Viacom Inc.-owned cable network, which produced the Super Bowl halftime extravaganza, notified several major record companies last week that at least eight of their videos would now be played only during overnight programming, generally between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., sources said. MTV shifted most of the videos — including recent clips from such acts as Britney Spears, Maroon 5 and Blink 182 — because of their sexual content. But the list also included a politically charged clip from the rock band Incubus; the video for the song "Megalomaniac" depicts an Adolf Hitler character with angel's wings flying over a crowd, and later shows a nameless politician ordering police to halt a protest. An MTV spokeswoman confirmed the move but downplayed the idea that the channel was engaging in self- censorship. "We support the creative community, but we have to take into account what's in the culture right now," she said. "It's part of our responsibility as broadcasters." The Jackson episode touched off a firestorm of protest and prompted a national dialogue over indecency on television. On Friday, the Federal Communications Commission reported that upset TV viewers had filed more than 200,000 complaints about Jackson's act, in which part of her clothing was ripped off by singer Justin Timberlake. FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell has vowed a complete investigation of the incident, branding it a "classless, crass and deplorable stunt." Representatives of the acts whose MTV videos have been consigned to little-watched overnight play couldn't immediately be reached. Label executives declined to comment, although some groused privately that MTV's decision could undercut promotional plans for music acts that had no involvement with the Super Bowl.

On the Road with Britney Spears

Well the Onyx Hotel is about to open and all of our employees are busy getting ready for our Grand Opening…..March 2nd in San Diego. Welcome to the Onyx Hotel Tour 2004. It is about 4 weeks away from opening night and our staff is coming in from around the USA to rehearse for the big tour. Many of our regular fans know how much fun a Britney Spears show is and you will not be disappointed. I don’t want to give away any surprises but I will just say our last show, Dream within Dream, in my opinion, was more Las Vegas-style. This time around it will be more NY Theatre-style. As Britney’s Tour Manager for the past 4 years, it has been my responsibility to make sure the proper planning is done before the tour, so when we get to a city near you, everything will be in place. One of my responsibilities during rehearsal is to keep and maintain a working rehearsal schedule for Britney and our performers. We have Britney and our dancers working in one room and our band rehearsing in another. As we all learn our parts, we will all come together in one big space and put it ALL together. At the same time, our wardrobe department in busy fitting all our performers for costumes for the show. We have at least 7 to 8 people that will be working on costumes full time during the rehearsal period. I am busy booking hotels across the country in conjunction with our travel agent to make sure when we arrive, our accommodations are in place. I speak with the bus company we use to ensure the buses we travel on, are comfortable and in good working order. I work with the record company and coordinate all of the press interviews and photographers that Britney will encounter along the way. Britney Spears’ people are threatening to sue over a report that the singer spent an evening watching porn movies with her girlfriends. Reps for the belly-baring star are livid over an article in the U.K. tab News of the World that claims Spears checked into the trendy Sanderson hotel in London under the alias Jade Moet and rented “Sex Truck” and “Double-D Housewife.” According to the report, Britney and her girlfriends were giggling throughout the flicks. “It’s not true,” fumed her rep, who said she was consulting Spears’ lawyers about legal action. PRNewswire just reported that Britney will do a live performance on 'On Air w/ Ryan Seacrest' performing "Toxic." The free outdoor concert will include a first sit-down interview since her wedding. The performance and interview will take place on Wednesday, February 11 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm pacific time. The performance and interivew is open to the public at the Babylon Court in the Hollywood &Highland Entertainment Complex in Hollywood, California. "It's something we've been working on for a while - before we went on the air," Seacrest said yesterday. "Obviously this has become a solid booking in the last few days. "I would imagine, although I can't speak for the artists, that when we pitch someone like Britney we have a unique promotional opportunity through our format, which allows her to interact with her fans, have a conversation with us and perform in the courtyard. "We're not just going to have Britney on once," Seacrest said. "We're going to support her through her entire tour."

Say, whatever happened to that sweet superstar Britney Spears? Yes, Britney has been laying low since the media explosion over her quickie marriage and subsequent annulment to good friend Jason Allen Alexander last month. She thought we'd forgotten, didn't she? But ET's Steven Cojocaru just couldn't let that continue! He's the only one the hit-maker is talking to about why she decided to spontaneously tie -- and then untie -- the knot. "I'm really impressed with you," Cojo tells her on tonight's ET. "You're plugging away, doing all these things and have all these projects going on with all this dish around you. So, it's coming -- we're going to do the marriage question. Let's breathe. It's not going to be that bad, but here we go. You said it was a joke, you got carried away. I get carried away in Vegas ... so I think the question is -- what were you thinking?" "Honestly, I really wanted to see what it was like to be married," she reveals. "Maybe that sounds silly, but, in that moment, I was with a friend that I love dearly and I wanted to do something wild and crazy and I wanted to get married. So that's why I did it." Britney says that since then she doesn't give much thought to rumor-spreading, tabloid gossip. "I try not to pay attention to what the headlines say," she tells Cojo. "I just focus on my work because the media always tries to capture your personal life. Since that happened (wedding) it's made me definitely want to think about what I do a little more because they blow it way out of proportion." Then Cojo asks the chart-topper, who claims she's just a normal girl who loves coffee, magazines and watching "Sex and the City" with friends, "When you were a kid and dreamed of becoming a singer and being well known, did you know fame would be this rough?" The Sun reported that Britney is still dating ex-husband Jason Alexander — a month after the annulment of their Las Vegas chapel wedding. And the pop princess has fuelled speculation that the couple are still in love by constantly wearing the silver wedding ring Jason gave her. The pair, both 22, married on January 2, but had it declared invalid hours later. But Jason’s best pal Jared Prescott claimed the pair were still in “close contact” and were planning to eventually re-marry. He said in Jason’s home town of Kentwood, Louisiana: “Jason and Britney really like each other, they have been seeing each other for a while. “They wanted to stay married but Britney’s family want her to date him a while. Skye Sweetnam Opening For Britney

Chartattack reported that Canada's very own Skye Sweetnam will join milkshake-queen Kelis as Spears' opening acts on the pop princess’ upcoming North American tour. This is a pretty big deal for Sweetnam, who's from the small town of Bolton, Ontario. The 15-year-old will work on winning over Spears’ fans as the spring tour brings the girls to 25 different North American cities beginning in San Diego, California on March 2. But Sweetnam has already been establishing herself on the pop music scene. Last year, her single "Billy S" appeared on the soundtrack for the Mandy Moore movie, How To Deal. Sweetnam had been making demos of her music since she was 12. When she hooked up with guitarist/bassist/keyboardist James Robertson, the pair began writing and recording in his parents' basement. Capitol Records was obviously impressed with the basement-recorded tracks; they signed Sweetnam based on these songs and even allowed most of them to be included on the album without any professional re-recording. The aptly titled Noise From The Basement isn't due out until after the tour is complete, but the exposure Sweetnam receives on the tour may send little girls running to stores on May 18 to purchase the album. Britney May Perform At Benfica's Centenary Soccer Tournament

SoccerAge.com reported that Real Madrid and Manchester United will be a part of Benfica's Centenary tournament on February 28th. Another top European club (probably from the Seire A) will also be a part of the fesitivites in Lisbon at the new Estadio Da Luz. According to the Spanish press (Marca), organizers of the event are also in advanced talks with Britney Spears Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem and U2 to play at the weekend-long event. Supposedly, this is now confirmed, adding that she will sing with Madonna and Janet Jackson pay an homage to the Beatles. Well this might be off because Janet Jackson might be banned from appearing at the award show due to the exposure experienced at the 2004 Superbowl Halftime Show.

It is believed she has called a meeting with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. If so, it must mean her first stab at Hollywood stardom did not put her off. Britney's performance in the film Crossroads was widely criticised and her only other experience of acting since then has been in the new Pepsi advert, prancing about alongside pop pals Beyoncé, Pink and Enrique Iglesias. As reported by Britneyspears.com from MTV: Britney Spears is no longer an aspiring actress - having already starred in "Crossroads" - but for her next film role the singer is going to recall the days she was just starting out. Spears has signed on to star in and produce an adaptation of author Tobi Tobin's "Door to Door," in which she'll play an ambitious teenager who tries to make it in Hollywood. The story's narrator, like the author, is named Tobi. She leaves her small hometown of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, at the age of 17 to model in New York. Unsuccessful there, she finds her way to Los Angeles and edges her way into the film-world elite by barhopping and going to parties, ever in search of a producer. She eventually falls into a relationship with a famous actor, but in the meantime she works the door at an old friend's club, where doors open for her. The next step is hiring writers to adapt the book into a screenplay, New Regency Vice President of Marketing Michael Brown said, since the project is still in development and the timeframe remains undetermined. Twentieth Century Fox will distribute the film once it's completed.

Billboard announced that Britney Spears has been announced as a presenter for next weekend's Grammys, which will be held Feb. 8 in Los Angeles. Sting, Dave Matthews, Vince Gill and the Neptunes' Pharrell Williams have signed on for a Grammy tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' first U.S. television appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show." They join Prince, Beyoncé and Black Eyed Peas with Justin Timberlake as newly confirmed performers for the Grammys, to be held Feb. 8 in Los Angeles. In addition, Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Dwight Yoakam, Jorge Calderon and the Eagles' Timothy B. Schmit will offer a musical tribute to the late Warren Zevon, who is up for five Grammys. Newly announced presenters Britney Spears, Keith Urban, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Joshua Bell join the previously confirmed Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Hilary Duff, Faith Hill, B.B. King, Brian McKnight, Carlos Santana, Kurt Elling, Norah Jones, John Mayer and actors Sean Astin and Amber Tamblyn.

Times of India reported that Britney Spears and Ben Affleck could become more than just good friends after a British newspaper reported that the pair once had a fling. Affleck, 31, who split with finance Jennifer Lopez, 33, last week, is reported to be re-kindling his torch for the In the Zone singer - herself a recent divorcee. A source told The Daily Star the showbiz pair had an affair before the Daredevil actor began dating Lopez. "Ben and Britney were rumoured to have had a fling while she was still dating Justin Timberlake, but before he hooked up with Jennifer", the source was quoted as saying by an Australian website. "Neither will confirm the fling, but they've been friends for some time and Ben even invited Britney to his wedding that never happened". The source also told the newspaper Affleck often chatted with Britney on the phone and still harbours a "a crush" for the sexy, blonde popstar. News of the possible romance is sure to add to Lopez's sadness over the split from her Gigli co-star and fiancee of 14 months. The actress/singer has revealed she is "broken-hearted" over the end of the relationship. Speaking about the break-up for the first time, Lopez told Victoria Gotti, editor of American tabloid Star, the relationship ended over a dinner she has nicknamed The Last Supper . "I am extremely broken-hearted," Lopez told Gotti, "I put enormous effort into my relationship with Ben, but in the end, I realised I needed to put my personal and professional life back together." Although a spokesperson for Lopez has since denied her client spoke to Gotti, the editor is standing by her story. "The quotes are unequivocally and completely above-board and on the record," The Wedding Planner star revealed. Lopez reportedly decided to call it quits after Affleck admitted he was not ready to set a date to tie the knot. The couple's differences, though, have been many. They were reportedly unable to agree on where to live and Lopez was reported to disapprove of Affleck's penchant for gambling. Twenty-two-year-old Spears, however, could prove a better love match for casino-loving Affleck. The singer is, herself, a fan of America's gambling capital, Las Vegas, choosing to tie the knot there with childhood friend Jason Alexander after a wild night partying, before getting divorced 55-hours later.
