Britney Takes Katrina Victims Shopping

AP reported Britney Spears spent part of Mardi Gras with a group of Metairie students whose lives were upended when Hurricane Katrina devastated the area six months ago. Standing in the French Quarter surrounded by St. Catherine of Siena School dancers wearing "Gatorettes" uniforms, Spears talked Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America" of her recent "surprise" meeting with four older students from the suburban New Orleans school. On a recent morning, the girls sat down to breakfast with City Councilman Jay Batt, thinking they were there to discuss the effects of Katrina. Then Spears walked in, greeted with squeals. "It was awesome. I will never forget it," said 14-year-old Lindsay Hernandez, who lived with 21 relatives and friends after her home was destroyed. Spears took the girls shopping and to dine at one of Cajun chef Emeril Lagasse's restaurants for some Southern comfort food, including fried chicken and red beans and rice. There, the conversation turned from shopping to Katrina. Spears gave the girls fleur-de-lis pins on blue ribbons, and she surprised the school's dance troupe, the Gatorettes. "It was an honor to be here with all of them," Spears said.

MSNBC is asking - Is Britney Spears pregnant again? The “Oops, I Did It Again” pop star rushed to a Malibu hospital last week, and some reports claimed that it was to care for her young son, Sean Preston — who they claim was constipated. But one source insists the news is much happier. “She was throwing up and had stomach cramps,” the source tells The Scoop. “She’s pregnant.” Spears’ rep, however, insists that the singer is not with child. “Not true,” she says. “Not pregnant.” Rumors been flying around since last week on blogs but we mention it now because being reporting by mainstream media source, MSNBC.

Britney Speaks To Yoga Master

San Francisco Chronicle reported that Britney Spears is reportedly seeking the help of a yoga guru as she plans her career comeback. The pop superstar has been spotted visiting Sikh yoga master Singh Khalsa at his Los Angeles home and sources claim she's undergoing a course of "sound healing." During the therapy sessions, which are based on ancient kundalini yoga practices, clients are exposed to sound vibrations as they lie on a special couch. It's not the first time Spears has turned to ancient religions for spiritual help -- the singer also dabbled in Kabbalah and recently had her baby son Sean Preston blessed by a Hindu minister.

Britney Spears on the Road to Hana

Our sources tell us that Britney is currently on Maui and is looking to rent a house for the three months while she records her, um, "album". K-Fed has not shown his mug in any of the paparazzi picks so far, thus our task is coming up with a list of Maui things to do for a rich single Mom "planning" a professional comeback. Fair enough. Where To Stay: Hotel Hana-Maui. Ok we know Brit is renting, but who doesn't wanna spend a couple of nights far far away from everything in Hana? Many claim Hotel Hana is the last authentic place on Maui, if for no other reason than it is so damn hard to get to. You have to drive two hours on the twisty roads of the Hana Highway to reach this oceanfront resort, but once you do the scenery is so peaceful you might even throw away your kabbalah bracelet. The private Sea Ranch Cottages have high, beamed ceilings, enclosed gardens, lead to a private beach, and it on what looks like the edge of the world. You could definitely shake the paparazzi at this place. Where To Eat: Hana Ranch Restaurant. Let's face it, Brit is all about greasy comfort food and she should get her share at the Hana Ranch Restaurant. Here you can chow down on tasty fried calamari, herbal spiced bread, and "cowboy-sized" pizza overflowing with toppings, all while soaking in the easterly ocean views, where on clear day, it is said you can see the massive peak of Mauna Kea on the Big Island in the distance--natch. Where To Get Active: Pipiwai Trail. It isn't the destination it is the journey right? Pipiwai Trial near Hana has some decent 3-4 hour round trip hikes. The trail will allow you to see Makahiku Falls, the Infinity Pool and the Waimoku Falls, which are almost 400 feet high. This spiritual trail to enlightenment starts at the Ohe'o Gulch bridge.

Britney Spears Credits Singing to Son With New Talent

Pop mama Britney Spears is convinced that her talents have improved since she started singing nursery rhymes to her son. She is quoted in The Sun as saying: "I'll sing 'Mary Had A Little Lamb' and I make up stuff. I found out after the baby that I can sing!" She has also said that crooning to her four month-old son has helped her songwiting skills and is currently in Hawai'i preparing her next album. The star also revealed her paparazzi fears last week, saying that if things don't change she is afraid of dying in the same way a Diana, Princess of Wales, who was killed in 1997 following a high-speed car chase with the snappers in Paris. She explained her worries to the US magazine People, saying that she fears for her baby son: "I don't really go out with him and it's kind of sad because I can't walk down the street with the stroller. This is how Princess Diana got killed."

Some local Kentwood Louisiana natives are upset that Britney Spears is leading a TV recovery campaign for New Orleans. Some residents have been quoted that Britney is not doing enough for her own home Kentwood. One resident has said, "When Hurricane Katrina blew through the area, the cafe suffered extensive damages, to the tune of over $20,000; only 50 percent of the damages are covered by insurance." "We can´t afford that. We need help, as much as the next people down here. We´re better off than some, worse off than others. But does Britney offer to help the community that raised her, where her family still live, go to school and worship in church? Fat chance." She adds, "She doesn´t care about Kentwood, she hasn´t since she left. It´s just what she´s always done. Still doesn´t make it right that she doesn´t give back to her own." Yet, others feel that the pop star can do what she wants whether it is to help New Orleans or any other area.

Kevin Strikes Back In Newsweek

E! Online rerported that Kevin Federline has bounced back from the scathing criticisms of his Internet-leaked debut single "PopoZao" and is prepping the spring release of his new album. And this time he's ready for the backlash--and praise. "Sure there'll be the initial shock and awe," Federline told Newsweek of his impending debut. "But they've already said so much s--t about me it can't get worse. 'He hates his children, he treats his wife like dirt, he gets high all day.' If I was that bad, you think anyone, let alone Britney, would put up with it?" Though the backup dancer turned professional househusband has yet to score a record deal, he doesn't see that as a problem and plans to release his album with or without label backing. That is, after all, what the people want. Within eight days of posting "PopoZao" on his Website, Kevinfederline.com, the rapper's homepage garnered more than 2 million hits. "If my album has even half that attention, watch out," Federline said. "That means everybody out there who loves me still loves me, and everybody out there who hates me, well, they're secretly buying it, too." The humble Mr. Spears also claims to have recorded several tracks with his multi-platinum pop princess wife, but says he doesn't plan on releasing them any time soon. "We have collaborated," he said. Britney Planning Pop Comeback Because Of Music Boredom

Contact Music reports BRITNEY SPEARS is planning a pop comeback because she's bored by the music playing on MTV and the radio. The super-critical pop superstar turned her back on recording and touring almost two years ago to become a wife and mother, but now she's desperate to challenge the likes of KELLY CLARKSON, HILARY DUFF, LINDSAY LOHAN and ASHLEE SIMPSON and reclaim her pop crown. She tells America's People magazine, "I haven't seen anybody out there who has had a performance where I'm like, 'That's f**king awesome.' It's been boring." And Spears, who quit her last tour, citing exhaustion and injuries, can't wait to get on the road again. She adds, "This may sound weird, but I miss travelling. I miss the road... I needed a break. I needed to be hungry again." And the LUCKY singer is hoping to shock fans when she returns to the limelight later this year, by ditching her pop sound for a new bluesy style. She explains, "I used to listen to blues music and all that stuff. I would like to try to have more influences of that sound. "Not that I'm going to be like frickin' TINA TURNER, but you never know."

Kevin Shooting With Air Guns

TMZ reported that Kevin Federline and his buddies went wild yesterday with guns and ammo. Two eyewitnesses -- one on the TMZ staff -- say Britney Spears' hubby and a half-dozen other guys were at an apartment complex in Studio City, a suburb of Los Angeles. For several hours, they were playing war games in the densely populated residential area, shooting projectiles -- possibly rubber pellets -- from what appeared to be air guns with laser scopes. They're told the projectiles were hitting dwellings and cars as they frequently missed their intended targets. The games went on for several hours, as some annoyed residents looked on. The eyewitnesses say Federline's buddies were wearing army fatigues and some were wearing masks. Federline was wearing a beanie and jeans.

TMZ has obtained video of Britney Spears leaving the Malibu Urgent Care Center on Monday. See the video on TMZ.com. They were told Spears complained of stomach cramps. This afternoon, Spears' publicist told TMZ that her client was on her way home from the 'Will & Grace' set when she stopped at Urgent Care because she was coming down with a cold and not feeling well.

Britney to Join Mardi Gras Celebration in New Orleans

TMZ.com reported that Britney Spears, a Louisiana native, will celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans later this month when the devastated city hopes to revive some its old partying ways. "I am honored to be a part of the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans this year," Spears said in a statement Monday. "It is so important for this amazing city to continue its annual traditions and I am really looking forward to being involved." The 24-year-old pop star will appear on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Feb. 28 (7 a.m EST), when the morning show reports live from New Orleans. ABC announced that Spears will bring "surprises for a group of very deserving young residents." The Mardi Gras parade season will run from Feb. 18-28; Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras Day, is Feb. 28. Spears grew up in Kentwood, and has participated in fundraisers for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Shar Speaks Out About Baby Incident

Kevin Federline's ex Shar Jackson is speaking out on the Britney Spears scandal where the pop tart was photographed driving in California with her baby on her lap. Jackson minced no words and is quoted as saying, "what was that b***h thinking?" Shar allows her children around Spears, so if anyone has the right to question the behavior, Jackson would seem to have a legitimate concern for the safety of her children. The Star reports: Actress Shar Jackson, Kevin Federline's ex, says she was "horrified" by the photos, an insider tells Star. Jackson, 29, the mother of Kevin's daughter Kori, 3, and his 1-year-old son Kaleb, "couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the pictures," says Star's source. "She said, 'what was that b***h thinking? Is she crazy? What kind of mother is Britney?'" As for Spears blaming the paparazzi for her impulsive decision to drive with her son propped on her lap with no safety restraints, our source says that Shar isn't buying that excuse. "Kori and Kaleb often stay with Britney and Kevin on weekends and after seeing those pictures, Shar's starting to worry whether Britney is responsible enough to be trusted to take care of her kids." "She's been trying to get Kevin on the phone and tell him he has to sit Britney down and tell her this should never happen again. If Shar doesn't get that kind of assurance, she is going to think twice before she ever allows Kori and Kaleb to stay with him and Britney again." It's still not clear if Brit does realize how poor of a choice she made as she told Access Hollywood, "I made a mistake and so it is what it is, I guess." Brit maintains she was being chased by the paparazzi at the time. "Being put in the situation that I was in, it was kind of bad with the paparazzi," she said in the Access interview. I'm thinking Shar will need a stronger statement than this.

Britney Says Driving With Baby 'A Mistake'

AP reported that Britney Spears has taken responsibility — well, some of it — for driving with her baby son, Sean Preston, sitting in her lap. "I made a mistake and so it is what it is, I guess," Spears tells "Access Hollywood" in an interview that was to air Thursday. Several photos published Tuesday showed Spears driving her sport utility vehicle in Malibu, Calif., with her 4-month-old son perched on her lap rather than strapped into a car seat in the back seat. The 24-year-old pop star said she did it because of a "horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi." In response, X17, the agency that snapped the pictures, said they were snapped "in a very peaceful context, in which photographers exhibited no aggressive behavior." "Being put in the situation that I was in, it was kind of bad with the paparazzi," Spears tells "Access Hollywood." "Last week, my mom and I went out and they were on us really bad, so you instinctively do what you need to do." The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has said it won't pursue any charges.

TMZ has obtained video of Britney Spears leaving a Toys 'R Us with her baby. As she closes the door, she has the baby on her lap. The question: Was the child in a car seat once the vehicle began moving? Click here to view video. An employee of the Toys 'R Us in Porter Ranch, Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles, told TMZ that Spears and her assistant were there on January 15 to purchase a car seat and a stroller. The employee told TMZ the manager installed the seat in the assistant's vehicle. Since the windows are heavily tinted, it's unclear what Spears did once inside the vehicle. But as the door shuts, the baby is clearly on her lap, and not in a car seat. The Toys 'R Us employee did not know if his manager removed an old car seat before installing the new one. If he did not remove an old one, it raises the question -- how was the baby secured on the ride to the store?

Star Magazine reported Britney plunged into a new drama when she stormed out on husband Kevin Federline after a fight with him at a star-studded Hollywood event, sources tell Star. "They were really going at each other," says one eyewitness who watched the screamfest erupt Monday night as Spears and Federline sat in an opera box, watching Kanye West perform at a Rolling Stone/Verizon-sponsored pre-Grammy party at the hot nightclub Avalon. "It was shortly after midnight and Kanye had only been on stage a few minutes when Kevin and Britney got into some big disagreement which turned into a full-scale shouting match. They both looked pretty angry and everyone else in the box was staring at them with amazement and shock. After a few minutes of yelling at each other, she stormed out leaving him in the box. "She left with one of her bodyguards, got in her car and took off. Kevin stayed in the box with singer Brandy and his buddies, drinking the Sky Vodka that was being promoted at the club last night. He stayed till the end of the show. The ugly incident was in sharp contrast to the couple's affectionate 10:45 arrival at the event, where Tom Cruise, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Paris Hilton and beau Stavros Niarchos, Matthew Perry, Brandy and a string of other celebrities were also guests. Britney — showing off her shapely legs in a short, low cut black dress — was "all smiles and holding hands with Kevin, when they got here," the onlooker tells Star. "Everything seemed to be fine between them. Then, out of nowhere, they started this huge fight. Everyone was stunned."

No Charges Expected in Britney Incident

AP reported that authorities were investigating an incident in which Britney Spears was photographed driving with her infant son on her lap, but didn't intend to pursue charges against the pop star, officials said. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Diane Hecht said Tuesday that deputies went to Spears' home to collect information for the county Department of Family and Children Services. A DCFS spokesman wouldn't offer specifics. "We don't say who, what or if we're investigating," department spokesman Stu Riskin said. The sheriff's department won't pursue any charges, Deputy Luis Castro said. "Unless a deputy saw the violation, there's nothing we can do," he said. "We don't even know if this took place in our jurisdiction."

Child Services Contacts LA County Sheriff's Office

TMZ has learned the LA County Department of Chidren and Family Services (DCFS) has contacted the LA County Sheriff's Department, inquiring about Britney driving with her baby on her lap without proper child restraint. TMZ contacted DCFS and an official would not say if the matter was under investigation. Britney issued a statement saying, "I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger." She added, "I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way..." The TV show 'EXTRA' has obtained the following statement from X17, the company that took the picture: "These pictures were taken in a very peaceful context, in which photographers exhibited no aggressive behavior. We believe the pictures speak for themselves."

Entertainment Wise reported that Britney Spears was attacked by a group of drunken men as she and her husband Kevin Federline made their way home after a night out in LA. Britters was set upon by an out of control stag party who stated demanding money from the millionaire super star. A source told the Daily Star: "It turned nasty when Kevin went to look for their car. That's when the stag party spotted Britney. "They started saying they were her homies and at first Britney was really sweet and said, 'Wow, they're saying they're from Kentwood'." "They were obviously very drunk and jealous of her success and it got frightening real quick. "They were yelling, 'Give us some of your money' and lunging at her." People Magazine reported that on Monday, photos surfaced of Britney Spears driving her SUV in Malibu with her son, Sean Preston, sitting on her lap behind the wheel. The pictures raised obvious questions because her young son was not in a car seat. A source close to Spears explains that the singer drove to Starbucks with her bodyguard in the passenger seat and son Sean in his car seat in the back. When the bodyguard went into the store to get the drinks, Spears took Sean out of his car seat and held him in her lap while she waited. Photographers approached the car, says the source, and became aggressive. Once her bodyguard climbed back into the car, Spears drove away while still holding her son. Spears explains her actions in an exclusive statement to People magazine: "Today I had a horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi while I was with my baby. Because of a recent incident when I was trapped in my car without my baby by a throng of paparazzi, I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger. I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us, and took photos of us which were sold to the media. I love my child and would do anything to protect him."

NBC Spears Britney's Will & Grace Story Line

NBC is in the spin control zone thanks to its stunt casting of Britney Spears on Will & Grace. Earlier this week, NBC issued a press release touting Spears' guest appearance on the sitcom. Per the Peacock's PR department, Spears, in her first television outing since having a baby, would appear on the Apr. 13 episode playing a religious conservative TV personality who winds up cohosting a talk show with Jack ( Sean Hayes). Spears' character, the release said, would emcee a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixin's." Faster than you could say, "Oops, they did it again," NBC was facing another beef from the American Family Association. The conservative Tupelo, Mississippi-based group, whose protests helped lead to the cancellation of the network's The Book of Daniel, was ready to call for a boycott of NBC, saying the Spears-fronted episode "mocks the crucifixion of Christ" and "further denigrates Christianity" because the show airs the night before Good Friday. The AFA is urging its supporters to contact NBC affiliates and demand they not broadcast it. "NBC is clearly mocking the Christian faith," the group's founder, Don Wildmon, says on the AFA Website. "They clearly have hostility toward the Christian faith, They absolutely will not treat Jews or Muslims in this manner, but I think they are smarting from the Book of Daniel defeat that they suffered, and this is their way to get even." Wildmon was one of several activists who blasted The Book of Daniel for its portrayal of a pill-popping priest who, when not conversing with Jesus, deals with his gay son and drug-dealing daughter. Several affiliates declined to air the show and many advertisers pulled their ads; after four episodes, NBC pulled the plug. For its part, NBC bristled at allegations it was intentionally trying to poke fun at Christians, issuing a statement chalking up the dispute to unnamed trigger-happy publicist. "Some erroneous information was mistakenly included in a press release describing an upcoming episode of Will & Grace, which, in fact, has yet to be written," the network said in a statement, which was disseminated to its affiliates. "The reference to 'Cruci-fixins' will not be in the show and the storyline will not contain a Christian characterization at all. We value our viewers and sincerely regret if this misinformation has offended them." Spears' reps were unavailable for comment on the controversy. It's been a big week in bicoastal Britney news. On Thursday, a New York state appeals court dismissed a lawsuit brought by the husband of a woman who died six years ago during a hoax orchestrated by a Binghamton radio station involving a Spears impersonator. The suit, filed by Paul Santodonato, accused Clear Channel Broadcasting, the owner of the offending WMRV-FM, of fraud and negligence. He said his 37-year-old wife, Susan, died in June 2000 after falling and hitting her head as she stood among a throng of the "Toxic" singer's fans, who rushed a limousine carrying the fake Spears. In its decision, the appellate court ruled that Santodonato failed to offer proof regarding the cause of his wife's fall and also failed to prove she was unable to find a safe place away from the crowd.

National Ledger reported that a new published report appears ready to answer the question of why Britney Spears is having such a hard time losing that baby weight. The cover of Star Magazine will make the claim (or at least ask the question) that Brit may be pregnant, again. The magazine promises exclusive photos, and as you can see by the cover the photos will concentrate on a Brit belly that is not looking all that fit or firm. But that's from the first baby - right? The cover of course asks in bolded caps 'BRIT PREGNANT AGAIN?' Surely 'The Star' will give more than just pictures of Brit's belly as proof. The report with the pictures should be interesting.

Britney To Guest Star On Will & Grace April 13

Britney Spears will guest star on an episode of "Will & Grace," NBC announced Tuesday. The pop star will appear as a Christian conservative sidekick to Sean Hayes' character, Jack, who hosts his own talk show, on the April 13 episode, the network said. Jack's fictional network, Out TV, is bought by a Christian TV network, leading to Spears contributing a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixin's."
