Britney Tickets Selling Slow
It's been three years since a shapely teenager from a small town in Louisiana donned a scanty schoolgirl uniform, wiggled her bare midriff and crooned herself into international celebrity.

She has become so famous, in fact, that those promoting her in a recent music-television documentary claim she has taken her place alongside such entertainment icons as Elvis and Madonna - stars who need only a first name to be recognized.

Britney ...

Spears (for those not in the know) set young girls - and old men - on their heads when she first exploded onto the pop culture scene in her 1999 music video for her smash debut single, "... (Hit Me) Baby One More Time," clad as a half-dressed Catholic-school student.

Since then, 20-year-old Britney - recently the most-searched subject on the Internet - has attained a kind of extra-celestial stardom, selling millions upon millions of albums, appearing before raucous sold-out audiences all across the world and even starring in her own feature film, the critically abhorred "Crossroads."

But all that might be changing.

If ticket sales Saturday for her July Fourth weekend concert on the Atlantic City Boardwalk serve as any kind of indication, Britney Spears' star might be fading.

Ticketmaster representatives across the region reported sluggish demand on the first day of ticket sales for Spears' third Atlantic City concert, to be held July 5 at Boardwalk Hall.

There was no one camping out. No long lines. No phones ringing off the hook.

Just business as usual...

BRITNEY Spears yesterday spoke of her wacky role in the latest Austin Powers movie, Goldmember.

Britney, 20, said she couldn't stop laughing as she filmed her cameo, which involves her and her dancers in a West Side Story-style "duel" against star Mike Myers and his dancers.

I heard some news about Britney on a local radio station where I live and thought the fans would like to know. According to WKQI 95.5FM Radio While Justin is having fun with a new girl, Britney is burying herself in her work. And she's nervous about her ticket sales because she's about to start a 30-city tour. Her last tour didn't sell out and she had a hit album out. This time she's not even on the radio or MTV! But Britney has a plan to get press. She has asked Madonna to interview her for "In Style" magazine. But Madonna said she will only do it if she can ask all the questions SHE wants to ask. And that means the truth about Justin and her virginity!

Britney Spears Among Red Cross Auction Donors
Madonna, Britney Spears, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Lonestar, Ray Charles, Stone Temple Pilots, Patti LaBelle, Dolly Parton, Michelle Branch, Tim McGraw, Rosie O'Donnell, and Oprah Winfrey are just a few of the stars who have donated autographed items to the American Red Cross Nationwide Virtual Auction.

The auction, hosted by the auction website Ebay (ebay.com), features more than 1,500 unique items donated by participating Red Cross chapters across the U.S. The auction will raise funds for disaster relief and other Red Cross humanitarian efforts.

Twenty-one of the auction items were personally solicited and donated by country superstar Wynonna Judd. "I thought long and hard how I could make a difference," said Judd. "I was delightfully surprised at the generosity of my fellow artists who committed to this cause. These are exceptional gifts from artists who opened up their hearts at a time when our neighbors really needed us. As amazed as I am by the talents of Madonna, Dolly, Rosie, Garth, and Oprah, and all of the others who donated, I am forever changed by the size of their hearts."

The auction is divided into two separate 10-day auctions. The first auction is currently open and will remain live until May 2, and the second auction starts April 29 and runs through May 9. Participants can bid on everything from exotic vacation getaways and high-tech gadgets to sports and celebrity memorabilia, fine art, and airline tickets.

Britney Game Gets UK Release Dates
Ananova reported that Britney Spears' first video game will hit UK shops on May 24. Players audition as backing dancers for her tour by tapping the beat on a controller. The PC version of Britney's Dance Beat will be released first, followed by the Playstation2 and Game Boy Advance versions a week later. The ultimate prize in the game is dancing with a digital Britney in a simulated concert.

IGN reviews the GBA version of Britney's Dance Beat. The review: With the niche popularity of games such as Dance Dance Revolution and Parappa the Rapper, it's a no-brainer that companies are adopting those designs for other games. In the case of THQ, they made the obvious move to this genre when they scarfed up the Britney Spears rights. Picking on Britney Spears is so darn easy, so I'm going to leave that alone and just focus on the game itself. THQ's design is pretty okay, but it's very shallow and short, killing the value of the package. Go read the rest of the review here at IGN.

Yeah, yeah, we know: Breaking up is hard to do. But when you're the former Prom King and Queen of Teen Pop, picking up the pieces can be as draining as the dance break in ''Bye Bye Bye.'' Luckily, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears -- the Gen-Y Tom and Nicole -- seem to be handling the media storm with aplomb, he on ''The Rosie O'Donnell Show'' (''I love Britney with all my heart, and I would never, ever do anything to disrespect or degrade her'') and she on the British press circuit (''[I'm not] in an intense relationship right now'').

But the breakup also comes at a critical moment in the young stars' professional fortunes -- not to mention in the cloudy future of teen pop. '''N Sync and Britney have a really big decision to make: Do they stay in their demo bubble, the 13- to 16-year-olds, or do they grow with their audience and take some of the new sounds and incorporate that into their music?'' says MTV senior VP of programming Tom Calderone, noting that the net's viewers have been moving away from pop and toward dance music or hip-hop. (Timberlake and Spears declined to comment for this story.)

So far, the 21-year-old Timberlake seems the most poised to take his career to the next, more mature level -- notwithstanding tabloid reports involving everything from strippers to whipped cream to a brunet backup dancer. ''When the bubblegum wears off and the cuteness is gone and the gimmick is over, the only thing that's gonna help you stand on your own two feet is the real talent,'' notes singer Brian McKnight, who duetted with Timberlake on ''My Kind of Girl,'' the Grammy-nominated track on his latest album, ''Superhero.'' ''[Justin] is gonna be able to do whatever it is he wants to do for the rest of his life -- he's got that much talent.''

And that talent involves more than hamming it up in an Elton John video. Timberlake cowrote all three of the hit singles on the quintuple-platinum ''Celebrity,'' and, along with former choreographer Wade Robson, wrote and produced ''Man Enough,'' a song for R&B stars Dru Hill. Moreover, Justin has already proved adaptable to changing tastes. ''Music isn't quite where it was three years ago when we had five boy bands on the station,'' says Paul ''Cubby'' Bryant, program director of NYC radio station Z-100. ''The taste right now is a little more on the R&B side, with the J. Los and the OutKasts and the Ashantis doing well. [Getting] Nelly on the track for ['N Sync's] 'Girlfriend' has given the song a whole new life.''

Timberlake's increasing frontman status has inevitably led to talk of a post-'N Sync solo career, though a Jive spokesman would say only that ''there's no Justin Timberlake album scheduled'' and the group is going into the studio this summer to work on a new album. Still, Robson says, ''I'm sure it'll happen at some point.''

But what of Timberlake's former better half? Despite sales of more than 4 million for ''Britney,'' Spears, 20, has charted a path as slippery as that snake she embraced at last fall's MTV Video Music Awards. Oops! None of the three singles released from ''Britney'' have cracked Billboard's top 10 -- the biggest hit, ''I'm a Slave 4 U,'' peaked at No. 27. '''Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman' is a great song, but that song only appeals to a small niche of people, 14- to 17-year-olds,'' says Bryant. ''Now she's talking about being 'Overprotected' ... stuff that might be a little bit more self-serving and not relatable to listeners.''

But don't sniffle for Britney just yet. Her $12 million film debut, ''Crossroads,'' has grossed a respectable $37 million -- though less than the $41 million haul of Mandy Moore's ''A Walk to Remember.'' Moreover, her reported $7 million deal to pitch Pepsi and a cameo in this summer's ''Austin Powers'' sequel ensure that she won't completely fall off the pop-culture radar. (Tabloid items on her post-breakup table dancing in nightclubs probably won't hurt either.)

Like Timberlake, Spears seems to be shying away from her teenybopper roots. ''It all starts with the image first -- dressing a little bit more adult, showing a little bit more skin,'' says Rodney Jerkins, who produced ''I'm a Slave 4 U'' as well as 'N Sync's ''Pop.'' ''We wrote together and [we knew] we couldn't write songs like before, where it was basically kiddie pop.'' In fact, Spears cowrote four songs on ''Britney.''

While she faces a greater challenge in reinventing herself, since she (unlike her ex) is already a solo artist, Spears does have other assets...and not just the ones you think. ''She's a better singer than people give her credit for,'' notes Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren, who has worked with both 'N Sync and Spears. And for material? ''She can call me -- I've got a lot of 'F--- off' songs!'' We can see it now: Britney sings the blues.

Britney Faces Up To Fans In Japan

Ananova reported that Britney Spears is the most admired female for women in Japan. She has just been awarded the honour at the Barbie Award 2002 ceremony in Tokyo. Britney gave her reaction by pulling a face to mimic a Shigeshige Shigeo, a doll made by Japanese toy maker Bandai Co. She is in Japan for the premier of her film, Crossroads, and to promote her current single, I'm Not A Girl Not Yet A Woman. Britney is also performing at a concert in Tokyo.

Britney Bottled
Britney Spears was struck by a bottle as she took time out to meet fans at the Australian premiere of her new movie 'Crossroads', according to reports.

Just weeks after being booed for ignoring British fans during an outing in London, Spears attempted to appease her Australian admirers by posing for photos and signing autographs outside a cinema in Sydney.

However, the Princess of Pop's gesture was thrown back at her, when a plastic bottle was lobbed from the crowd.

An eyewitness said: "Britney seemed annoyed but didn't comment. It's a pity when one small mind makes things bad for the majority."

As reported on dotmusic yesterday [4/18/02], Britney played a show to fans in a small indoor arena in Sydney, after the original outdoor concert was cancelled due to torrential rain.

Britney Spears Rocks 'N' Rolls For Skechers
Britney Spears stars in a new Skechers USA worldwide advertising campaign announcing the premiere of her new roller-skate line, Britney 4 Wheelers. The campaign comprises of a series of ads featuring Spears in five different outfits while sporting her new signature roller skates.

Spears announced her worldwide advertising agreement with Skechers' 4 Wheelers roller-skate line in January. The ads will appear in leading trade magazines and teen, lifestyle, and fashion magazines--including Teen People, Seventeen, YM, Entertainment Weekly, and US Weekly, among others--beginning this month . Famed fashion photographer Stephane Sednaoui photographed the Britney 4 Wheelers ads.

Michael Greenberg, the president of Skechers USA, said in a statement, "The Skechers/Britney Spears relationship began with a successful international Sport shoe campaign in 2001. From our first Britney Sport ads, customers have asked retailers for 'the Britney shoe.' We believe this is an indicator of Britney's endorsement power, as her influence helps build our brand's growth worldwide."

Greenberg added, "By exposing consumers to our worldwide Britney 4 Wheelers campaign, we believe that she has the charisma, popularity, and global appeal to place Britney 4 Wheelers at the forefront of consumers' minds--and on their feet."

Skechers USA designs, develops, and markets lifestyle footwear for men, women, and children. The Manhattan Beach, California-based footwear company also reports that it has plans to launch a website dedicated specifically to Britney 4 Wheelers.

Meanwhile, Spears was in Los Angeles earlier this month to shoot the music video for her next European single, "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," from her album, Britney. Spears also performed the song in her feature-film debut, Crossroads.

"Today is Bryan’s 25th birthday and he’s celebrating in LA with Lauren and friends. My son likes to have a good time just as much as the next guy, so I’m happy that he’ll have a relaxing weekend away from the chaos of Manhattan for his birthday.

On Tuesday, the New York Post mentioned my son Bryan, calling him a “heartthrob.” He would never admit it to me, but I suspect he loves the title. Don’t get me wrong, I would never say one of my children is vain, but as anyone in my family will tell you, Bryan likes to look good.

Ever since Britney and I have been on a health kick, Bryan seems to have stepped up his own routine, sometimes working out in the morning and even at night! He’s quite the “hunk.” Jamie Lynn jokes around that girls are starting to call him “bootylicious.” These kids and their slang… it’s hard for me to keep up!

Although Bryan isn’t interested in being in the spotlight or achieving fame, I do think he has a touch of Hollywood style in him. Anyone who sees him strut down the street with his “sun shades” on and golden tan would agree. I can’t believe he’s a quarter of a century old. Time flies when you’re a mom… Happy Birthday, Bryan"

Britney Wheels, Deals Way Into Skate Brand
Britney Spears' newest wares will be rolling into stores in June.
Skechers, through a licensing deal, and the pop star are coming out with a new line of sneaker-skates called "Britney 4-Wheelers."

The deal further builds up Britney's empire, which already includes seven different Britney dolls, bubble gum, assorted merchandise sporting concert images and soon a new restaurant, Nyla, to open in Midtown here.

"We had a relationship with Britney (through) an endorsement and a print advertising campaign," said John Quinn, chief strategy officer at Skechers, adding, "both sides wanted to do more.

"Britney is prominent in American pop culture. Britney has iconic status," Quinn explained.

And like all who have achieved iconic status, Spears was involved in the design, color and style of the skates, which all carry her signature on the tongue of the shoe.

The skates will be sold in moderate stores like J.C. Penney and Nordstrom, and will sell for between $65 and $90, a company spokesman said.

The skates will come in sizes for Britney fans of all ages, Quinn said, "Girls through women in their '20s and '30s."

And they'll soon have more Britney products to choose from.

"We're in the process of developing prototypes for accessories and skate related apparel items," Quinn said.

"The goal is to have some of it available by holiday 2002, with the bulk of it available for spring 2003."

The skates' debut will be supported by an extensive print advertising campaign showing the singer in five different outfits. Shot by fashion photographer and music video director Stephane Sednaoui, the print campaign will hit national magazines this month.

Creating other celebrity co-branded collections could be in the cards for Skechers. The company, which has become known for its celebrity advertising campaigns over the years, has featured Rob Lowe, Matt Dillon and Robert Downey Jr. in campaigns in the last 18 months.

"At any time, we're in discussions with any number of people," Quinn said.

Britney Goes Extra Mile
Pop princess Britney Spears pulled out all the stops for fans in Sydney on Thursday with a free show and red carpet walk, just weeks after she came under a hail of criticism for snubbing fans in London.

Wearing a black lace top, hipster jeans and a black leather cap, a gum-chewing Spears smiled as she was escorted by a posse of muscular bouncers to the Australian premiere of her rites of passage road movie "Crossroads."

Hundreds of teenage fans screamed hysterically as the blonde singer posed for photos and leaned on a minder's shoulder to sign autographs, before heading into the cinema where actor Laurence Fishburne was among scores of waiting guests.

After her making her movie debut in the critically acclaimed "Crossroads," Spears said she has definite ideas about who she would like as her next leading man.

" Brad Pitt wouldn't be bad, that would be very nice," Spears, 20, told reporters outside the Fox Studios cinema.

At the London premiere of Crossroads in March, Spears was hissed and booed after arriving late then disappearing into the cinema without meeting thousands of waiting fans.

In an effort to counter the criticism, Spears earlier performed three of her hit songs including "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" from the Crossroads soundtrack, for over 1,000 people packed into a small indoor Sydney venue.

Thousands more resorted to watching Spears on huge screens in a nearby car park, after a bigger show was scrapped after heavy rain damaged equipment.

But just a glimpse of the songstress was enough to please ardent Britney fans.

"She rocks, she's so cool," said fan Kristal Prior, 13.

Britney And Justin Mystery: Why They Won't Come Clean
MTV reported that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake love each other very much and have not broken up.

At least that's still the "official" stance a spokesperson for the couple takes when asked of the status of their relationship. And if you believe that, some might think you were born yesterday.

The official media statement is in direct opposition to a month's worth of unconfirmed reports and anonymous eyewitness accounts that say the king and queen of the teen-pop prom have ended their reign. While public opinion favors the notion that the romance is kaput — gossip columnists citing Britney shakin' it with model Marcus Schenkenberg, and Justin hobnobbing in strip clubs and leading throngs of models into his limo have no doubt helped foster the belief — the "company line" has remained the same for over a month.

Britney Spears' Outdoor Australia Show Washed Out By Rain
According to Ananova Torrential rain washed out Britney Spears' first open-air show in Australia.

She had been due to perform at a 10,000-capacity outdoor arena at Sydney's Fox Studios.

Organisers switched it to a smaller indoor venue after a downpour and the prospect of more rain.

Giant video screens were set up in a nearby car park for fans who couldn't get inside the smaller concert hall.

Britney initially went to Sydney the morning after the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States and canceled most of her media engagements then.

Spears is also scheduled to appear in Sydney at the Australian premiere of her film Crossroads.

Who Will Get Britney’s Mansion?
According to MSNBC.com Now that Justin Timberlake has confirmed what Britney Spears’ publicist has long denied — that the two pop idols are no longer an item — friends are wondering who will get custody of the house. The betting, sources say, is on Britney.

THE TWOSOME bought the Hollywood mansion a year and a half ago, reportedly for more than $3 million.

Britney’s mother, Lynne, is said to have decorated the place in a Moroccan style, though the house was also said to be a source of friction with Lynne, who disapproved of her daughter living in sin.

There were reports that visitors spotted sex manuals at the mansion.

“Some people are saying that there’ll be a nasty fight over the house,” says one source. “We’re all bracing.”

But another insider says: “It was always more Britney’s [house] than Justin’s. . . . That was one of the problems in their relationship. Britney was much more eager to settle down and make things permanent.”

Spears’ publicist didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Britney, Justin And A House Divided
The Ney York Daily News reported that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were never married, but the busted-up darlings of teen pop have a community-property problem.

The former couple is wrestling over who will keep the Beverly Hills mansion they bought in February of last year for more than $3 million, according to reports.

Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears are not in synch over who gets the Beverly Hills manse they bought together in happier times.

Britney sympathizers say she should get to keep it as small compensation for Timberlake's dropping her. But friends of Timberlake say he should have dibs on it, since he saw it first.

Though neither spent much time in the house, both are said to be consulting lawyers.

The 6,400-square-foot, four-bedroom villa — which overlooks Sunset Strip — was built three years ago. It has a winding driveway, a pool, a spa, a screening room, a guest house and a five-car garage. Then there's the enormous master-bedroom suite (not that they ever had sex in it). It features a sitting room, his-and-hers bathrooms and walk-in closets.

A rep for the two did not return calls yesterday (they have joint custody of their spokeswoman). But Timberlake recently said he would never do "anything to hurt" Britney.

As for Brit, Justin might want to keep in mind the view on capital punishment that she recently gave to a French newspaper: "I think someone who has committed atrocities deserves a punishment reflecting their seriousness."

"Britney's Dance Beat" Helps THQ Set New Goal
According to VideoBusiness.com Videogame publisher THQ Inc. set a revenue record for the first quarter of 2002, with sales jumping 34% to $79.7 million. Net income leaped more than 200% to $2.8 million.

The increases were driven by strong sales of the company's games during the quarter that extended across all the consoles released during the holiday season of 2001.

"Product releases during the quarter for each of the new game consoles, as well as for PC, handheld and wireless systems, spanned the demographic range from kids to core gamers and everyone in between," THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell said.

Farrell noted that the top-selling games for the Calabasas, Calif.-based company were Sonic Advance for Nintendo's Game Boy, WWF Raw for Microsoft's Xbox and Britney's Dance Beat for Game Boy Advance. The PlayStation 2 version of the Britney Spears game launches in May...

Are You Ready For Britney's Kid Sis?
The NYPost.com reported that WATCH out! Baby Britney is popping out of the playpen.At a fashion show last Thursday for Kids "R" Us, Jamie Lynn Spears - the pop princess' 11-year-old kid sister - strutted her stuff in cute cheerleader costumes.

But the confident starlet has an agenda of her own - which doesn't include modeling. "I like fashion, but I want to be a singer and actor," Jamie Lynn told The Post.

So far, Britney has let her little sister - who has her blond hair and pale complexion - tag along for the ride. Jamie Lynn appeared on stage in "Britney Spears: Live from Las Vegas," starred with Britney in a Pepsi commercial and had a cameo as young Britney in the teen romance flick, "Crossroads."

But the sixth-grader will soon be stepping out from the sexy megastar's shadow. Nickelodeon has confirmed that Jamie Lynn and her mom have been "in talks" about a project in which the dimunitive dazzler might star - echoes of Britney, who got her big break as a Mouseketeer.

"We have talked to Jamie Lynn but we don't have any announcements to make at this time," said a spokesperson for the network.

There's even buzz that - gasp! - little sis might be the more talented one. At the show, Jamie Lynn was asked if she thinks she has a better voice than Britney. "Yes, ma'am," she answered modestly.

Her big sister agrees. "[Jamie Lynn] has a better voice than I do," admitted Britney to the San Diego Union-Tribune last year. "I support her 100 percent."

Mama Spears also boasts about her baby daughter's pipes. When she sings, says Lynne Spears, "she makes the windows rattle" in their $3 million Louisiana mansion.

Yet mom says she's not grooming her to be the next Britney. "It's her own thing," she says. "I'm along for the ride."

Sadly, Hollywood will have to live without the girls' older brother, 25-year-old heartthrob Bryan, who works in product merchandising in Manhattan. Says mom, "He's too macho" for show business.

We'll hold our breath.

Page Three Legend Offers Britney Career Advice
Ananova reported that Samantha Fox says young stars like Britney Spears need to start writing their own songs if they are to last the pace.

The former Page Three model says her own pop career would have been longer if she had started writing her own material.

Sam rues the fact that at the start of her singing career she never learned to write her own songs.

She says she would have stayed at the top a lot longer if she'd had the necessary skills.

Speaking after the Miss Slovakia 2002 beauty contest in Bratislava, where she performed, Sam said: "I should have learned how to write my own songs when I was Britney's age.

"As an artist you have a greater opportunity to work much longer, carry more responsibility and perform into your 50s when you write for yourself."

She added: "Ideally I should have started after my second album but I was very young. Britney should begin to create her own tracks and start to mature, otherwise after five years she'll be looking for a new career."

Britney Has A New Boyfriend?
According to AllPop.com Britney Spears is giving her fans the scoop on the upcoming "Austin Powers 3" cameo.

Britney will star as herself in the film. In that alternate universe, the pop princess is dating Mini Me (Verne Troyer), zap2it.com reports.

One of Britney's "Austin" scenes finds her battling with Austin Powers (Mike Myers) for the spotlight during one of her concerts.

The movie, which also stars Destiny's Child's Beyonce Knowles as Foxy Cleopatra, is scheduled to open on July 26.

Britney's Burglars Catch A Break
According to Yahoo! News Four men received 3 years probation after pleading no contest to burglarizing the rented vacation home of pop stars Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

Salvador Martinez, 19; Richard Olivarez, 20; Marcus Cook, 19; and Matthew Daily, 18, were sentenced Thursday as youthful offenders by Circuit Court Judge G. Robert Barron. Each had to sign an agreement not to reveal what they took from the couple's Florida Panhandle vacation home.

A police report said their take during the Sept. 22-23 burglary included videotapes with "personal footage" and "several clothing items belonging to the celebrities," the Northwest Florida Daily News reported.

Those items included a "Gilligan-style" blue-and-white hat, a scarf, a cell phone, nail polish and a $30 pair of shoes.

Prosecutor Ace Grinsted said the plea and sentence were negotiated by Spears' and Timberlake's attorneys and accepted by Barron.

The State Attorney's Office did not agree to a reduced sentence, Grinsted said. Prosecutors requested the four receive sentences of about 20 months in prison, in line with state guidelines. state sentencing guidelines be applied to the case.

Those guidelines called for "about 20 months" incarceration for the foursome, Grinsted said.

Spears recently said she's not "in an intense relationship with anyone," fueling speculation that she and 'N Sync's Timberlake have broken up.

Justin Says He 'Still Loves Britney' Despite Their Split
According to Ananova Justin Timberlake says he is coping since splitting with Britney Spears.

But he says he still loves Britney.

The couple have been the subject of intense speculation about the supposed end of their relationship.

Justin was speaking on an American chat show hosted by Rosie O'Donnell when he responded to a question about the split.

Asked how he was coping since the pair split up, Timberlake said: "I'm cool, but I'm glad you gave me the chance to say that."

He added: "I love Britney with all my heart and I will never do anything to disrespect her or degrade her.

"She will always be special to me no matter what happens. She's great."

Britney To Focus on Fans
Herald Sun reported BRITNEY Spears will ditch the media during her Australian visit, opting instead for a rare one-off public performance in her bid to make up lost ground with fans.

Spears, 20, has been facing growing criticism for shunning fans during recent promotional tours.
Sources within the Spears camp today said she had scrapped plans for a media conference and one-on-one interviews in Melbourne next week. Instead, she will make a whirlwind visit to Sydney on Thursday.

The one-day Sydney visit would comprise a rare public appearance at which she is expected to perform three of her songs live at Fox Studios, and an appearance on the red carpet for the premiere of her new film, Crossroads.

Late last month, even Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue became a Spears critic, after the US star was booed during a recent promotional appearance in London.

A spokeswoman said security concerns had prevented Spears from spending much time with about 3000 fans, who had waited hours for her brief appearance outside the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square.

Some fans were reduced to tears after Spears arrived an hour late and went inside after waving to the crowd for only a few minutes.

A few days later, while collecting her award for best international artist at the Capital FM Awards in London, Minogue spoke out about Spears' advisers.

"Her PRs have pushed her in the wrong direction and she is being misguided," Minogue said.

"Britney's been in the business a long time and she should know the ropes by now."

During her last visit to Australia, late last year, Spears was also on the receiving end of media and fans alike after she jetted into Sydney, the morning after the September 11 terrorist strikes on the US.

Her promotional visit gave Spears' fans little opportunity to catch a glimpse of her.

To make things worse, she was pictured during her visit with a half-empty bottle of Coke, the fierce competitor of her multi-million dollar sponsor, Pepsi.

Britney Stays Away From Melbourne
Herald Sun reported that Britney Spears has snubbed Melbourne fans by backing out of a visit next week. The singer was supposed to be in town on Tuesday to promote her debut movie but changed her mind at the last moment. Spears will still be attending the movie's Sydney premiere on Wednesday night.

RUMOR: Britney's Wee Bit Of Bother
Well, I really had to think hard if I should or shouldn't to post this story, but I honestly hope that it is not true because no one deserves that.

RUMOR: According to SkyNews.com "Pop queen Britney Spears fled for cover after having urine thrown at her as she filmed a TV ad.

The star was bombed with buckets of urine by angry neighbours as she sang on location in the early hours of the morning, according to the News of the World.

Residents staged their protest at around 4am in downtown Los Angeles, hurling bucket-loads at the 21-year-old singer as she performed in the street below.

Fled for cover

The star fled for cover in a nearby trailer and filming was abandoned shortly afterwards, the paper reports.

One resident reportedly said: "Sure, I opened the window and yelled shut-up - but I would never have done such a vile thing."

But the resident added: "We kept hearing the same song over and over but what made it worse were two 100ft spotlights. They lit up our apartment like it was daytime.

Started screaming

"Lots of people in the block opened their windows and started screaming at her.

"Britney certainly didn't deserve the bucket treatment. She's a brilliant singer ... but perhaps not when you're trying to get to sleep."

"April is a month of celebration for our family. We have many friends and relatives who have birthdays this time of year, including Jamie Lynn and Felicia. We threw a joint party for them here in LA. Britney’s here making a video for her single ”I Love Rock and Roll.” The cast and crew helped celebrate with cake and surprises.

Jamie Lynn got an art desk and set from us. We already have many pretty creations from her and her friends. Britney and I even got into the swing of things by painting with acrylics. Painting really takes you away. Before we knew it, it was 2:00 in the morning! I have decided to use all of our paintings to decorate the Florida condominium. The girls have to get to work. There are a lot of bare walls to cover.

This short little vacation has been a good one for Brit. Laura Lynn and Courtney laid by the pool yesterday after an hour work out. We went to the movies and saw ”High Crimes” with Ashley Judd. It kept you guessing. Today is another pretty one. Spring flowers are in bloom everywhere. It is a day for a long ride on country roads in the convertible. We’ll most likely stop by Nyla’s for some of her home cooked vegetables on the way home.

Well, it’s time for me to go. Brit needs the computer to write some more lyrics to a new song she’s working on. Have a happy spring!"

Britney's Ex Has New Girlfriend
itv.com has reported that NSync heartthrob Justin Timberlake has a new girlfriend after splitting from pop princess Britney Spears, it has been reported.

The star is seeing 21-year-old dancer Jenna Dewan, according to US Weekly. They first met two years ago at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The pair met up again at the Grammy Awards in February when she danced with him during NSync's performance of Girlfriend.

Dewan reportedly went backstage before the band's concert in her native Dallas last month before the couple went clubbing into the early hours.

A former high school cheerleader and prom queen, Dewan has appeared in music videos with US teen singing sensation Mandy Moore and toured with Janet Jackson.

Timberlake's mother said last week that he and Spears still have "intense feelings" for each other. Lynn Harless said her son and the 20-year-old star had "hit a rough spot" caused by punishing work schedules that kept them apart.

Spears is busy promoting her film Crossroads in Europe, while Timberlake is touring the US with his group. The couple had been going out for two years.

Lance Bass says Britney joined NSync's tour after the Grammy awards.

Join Britney's Band
DotMusic.com reported that Britney Spears is to star in a video game, in which fans get the chance to join the Princess of Pop on tour, dotmusic can report.

'Britney's Dance Beat' is out on May 31 [in the UK], and involves the player auditioning as a dancer on her upcoming world tour.

The game, set for release across all formats, features a host of Britney's hit tunes and, as you progress, unlocks exclusive videos, backstage footage and interviews. There is also the opportunity to control a video camera at a Britney concert.

Elsewhere in the world of Britney, a bandmate of Justin Timberlake has claimed that pop's first couple have not, as reported, actually split up.

However, 'NSYNC's Lance Bass says the pair are "still bickering". He told US TV: "And they're not completely broken up."

Spears Works PR Angle Down Under
TeenHollywood.com reported that Britney Spears is planning an extended public appearance in Sydney to make up for her erratic behaviour towards fans in London.

Spears was howled down by critics in Britain after she arrived hours late to the "Crossroads" premiere in London, and ignored fans who had travelled from across Britain to see her. But sources close to the singer have revealed she will use her appearance in Sydney on April 18 to make amends with fans and restore her clean-cut image in the press.

Spears is booked to walk the red carpet for the premiere of "Crossroads" at Fox Studios, and she will be in Sydney for only one day. But it is believed she will conduct an extended meet-and-greet with fans before the main event.

"Because of what happened in London, it makes sense for her to try to rectify things," a music industry insider said.

"Her American management are yet to confirm it publicly, but they're looking at the Sydney appearance as a good opportunity for her to win back some fans."

Spears's visit is being organised by Roadshow Film Distributors but her Australian-based publicists are yet to receive confirmation of her demands for the trip. "The final details of her visit have not been confirmed," Roadshow's Tom Roache said.

But the princess of pop is expected to have a queen-sized entourage for her three-day Australian visit. When she arrives in Melbourne next Tuesday, she will be accompanied by more than 20 people, but her on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Timberlake won't be one of them. Her role in "Crossroads" has received mixed reviews from critics in Britain, but it looks as though the film won't be instantly classified as a pop star shocker.

"It is a million miles away from the Mariah Carey Glitter fiasco," London's Mail On Sunday reviewer Matthew Bond said. "Britney will definitely act again - only next time hopefully with more clothes on."

Britney Has Cameo Role in 'Austin Powers'
TeenHollywood.com reported that According to Zap2it.com, Britney Spears will be making a cameo appearance in "Austin Powers 3." The pop star recently told British television that she will appear as herself, playing Mini Me’s girlfriend.

Spears even described some of her scenes to British TV. In one reported scene, Britney will be performing on stage when Austin Powers arrives and starts fighting with her over the spotlight.

Starring Mike Meyers, "Austin Powers 3" will arrive this summer on July 26th. Destiny’s Child singer Beyonce Knowles will act in a co-starring role.

Britney's Attorneys Tangle With Hub-Based Charity
According to The BostonHerald.com Pop princess Britney Spears and her erstwhile boyfriend, 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake, are the latest celebrity do-gooders to bolt from the controversial Boston-based Giving Back Fund.

But charity czar Marc Pollick, who previously parted ways with football hero Doug Flutie and ex-Celtic Dee Brown, isn't letting his prized pair go without a fight - he's filed a $14 million suit in federal court in Boston over the split.

``He's taken a very aggressive position,'' said attorney Michael Friedman, who is representing the Spears-Timberlake side. ``Their case claims that there is some obligation to continue the association with the Giving Back Fund when none exists.''

But the fund's lawyer, David Rosenthal, disagrees.

``Nobody's trying to hold on to something against somebody's will, that's not what this is about,'' he said. ``This is about the wrongful conduct of a couple of New York lawyers. I am offended at the way they behaved and I believe the judge will be, too.''

Pollick's Giving Back Fund filed suit against Mark Steverson, a New York attorney who represents Britney, Steverson's boss, Laurence Rudolph, and former Giving Back Fund employee Corina Biggar charging, among other things, ``misappropriation of a valuable business opportunity.''

The suit contends that Steverson, who sat on the board of directors of the Giving Back Fund, breached his ``fiduciary duty'' by advising Britney and Justin to leave the GBF and ``sabotaged GBF's business relationship with two of its most important donors to benefit himself and his employer.'' Biggar, the suit charges, aided ``the unlawful conduct.''

``This is not a suit against Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake,'' Rosenthal said. ``This is about a lawyer who sat on our board and as such did not have the right to interfere with the relationship between the Giving Back Fund and these clients.''

Rosenthal said Steverson and Rudolph tried to control the way the GBF did business, pressured Pollick to hire an ``unqualified'' fund-raiser and, when Pollick balked, ``took their ball and went home.''

``This is the conduct of bullies,'' he fumed. ``There's an attitude of `How dare anyone tell me what to do. I'm Britney Spears' lawyer.' ''

But Friedman said the issue is much simpler: Spears and Timberlake became disillusioned with the Giving Back Fund and wanted to take control over their foundations and run them themselves...

Ananova reported that Hugh Grant says Britney Spears' legs are getting too muscular.

He blames it on her taking too much exercise.

But the star of the forthcoming film About A Boy would still jump at the chance of taking her out on a date.

With "Crossroads" open everywhere in the UK, it is not wonder that Britney's "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Women" debuted at #2 this week on the UK singles charts. This is her highest debut since "Oops... I Did It Again". Also, after being relased for over 11 weeks now in the UK, "Overprotected" is still in the top 100 at #69 and after 22 weeks, "Britney" JUMPED 15 spots from #35 to #20 this week. Justin Gives Britney The Knock-Back
According to People.co.uk POP babe BRITNEY SPEARS has made tearful phone calls to her ex- boyfriend JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE begging him to get back with her, I can reveal.

A close Spears family member told me that Britney, 20, is heartbroken and desperate for them to give it one more chance.

But every call she makes to N'Sync star Justin ends in rows and tears.

My source, speaking to me from Britney's home in Louisiana, said: "Every time Justin talks to her on the phone it degenerates into tears and arguments.

"The problem is Britney thinks the solution is quite easy. She wants to get back together but I think Justin feels it is a bit more serious than just picking up where they left off. They haven't seen each other for a while and were planning to meet up at the end of this month. But Justin has told her she should calm down a little bit more before they meet. He doesn't want arguments and to be honest I don't think he believes that they can make it work any more."

The childhood sweethearts split up three weeks ago and since then Justin has been enjoying his single status.

Partying

He has been partying with his pop band colleagues in Las Vegas and reportedly blew £150,000 on a 24-hour gambling and booze spree.

They dined on lobster, caviar and champagne, then lost heavily gambling before partying with a crowd of strippers.

An onlooker said: "Every few minutes Justin would throw $100 bills in the air and shout God Bless America!"

I'm sure deep inside he's pining for Britney, though!

Britney's Lavish Lifestyle
MTV Asia reported that Britney Spears reportedly spent thousands of pounds during her recent promotion in the U.K. reports the Daily Star. The "Crossroads" star hired a top London spa to prepare for the glitzy premiere of her new film.

According to a source, "She wanted to swap the noise of the crowds with Tibetan chimes and soothing music and to look her best at the premiere." Britney had a £4,700 a night suite at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for two nights and wanted to relax after her supposed split from Justin Timberlake.

She was also reported to have splurged on luxury treatments including a massage with hot, oiled stones, a purifying program and an aromatherapy facial to give her life "balance and harmony."

Timberlake's Mom Ponders Couple
AP reported that there may still be hope for Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, if you ask Timberlake's mother.

Timberlake's mother, Lynn Harless, tells People magazine that her son and Britney are just having problems. She thinks that they are just two kids who have intense feelings for each other, both good and bad.

Harless says that their biggest problem right now is their schedules and they don't get to be together that often. She says that they aren't like normal kids who can sit down and say "Let's talk about this."

But even Harless isn't sure if they'll get back together. "They're in love one minute, not in love the next," she says.

Britney refused to greet fans in Leicester Square last month at the premiere of her film, Crossroads, and during her Top of the Pops appearance in January she forced BBC executives to move their cars, apparently to give her a shorter walk. But it's her tour requirements that show Britney at her most demanding. She requires in her dressing room: "two six-foot couches, two easy chairs, a clean and odour-free carpeted or rugged floor, a large coffee table, two floor lamps and four cushioned folding chairs." She needs her own phone line, but woe betide the promoter if anyone calls in by mistake: "any incoming calls will result in a $5,000 fine". In case Britney gets the munchies, she requires two boxes of Pop Tarts, a box of Captain Crunch and Fruit Loops, and a "bowl of fresh tuna salad, with Hellmann's mayo, eggs, relish and albacore tuna only!"

The Sun Newspaper reported that Britney Spears has all hands on deck — and the fellas all at sea.

The stunning singer, 20, went topless during a boat trip, taking care to keep her boobs covered.

But a saucy male pal seemed keen to talk her into sailing hands off.

Britney and a group of friends were sunbathing on the deck of a luxury cruiser off Miami Beach in Florida.

She put them all in the shade in sexy tight orange shorts, dark glasses and a New York Yankees baseball cap.

The relaxed day at sea was a far cry from Britney’s troubles in Britain earlier this week. She was booed after snubbing fans at the London premiere of her movie Crossroads.

But the curvy star soon bounces back — as these pictures reveal.

Tara Reid Talks With ET About Britney And Justin's Breakup
Tara Reid was on Entertainment Tonight yesterday promoting her new movie, but she also had a few things to say about the Britney and Justin Breakup! Here is what she said:

ET Reporter: Tara Reid sat down and talked to me about her breakup with Carson Daily and how she helped her good friend Britney Spears get through a breakup of her own. Now Tara Reid talks to ET about the pain of relationships being played out in public.

Tara Reid: There's nothing worse than a broken heart. It's hard enough to deal with it on your own, nevermind everyone staring at you like "oh they just broke up, is she okay?"

ET Reporter: Following her breakup with Justin Timberlake, Britney reportly drowned her sorrows with Tara at a couple of LA hotspots. Reid who broke off her engagment to Carson last year also knows a thing or two about public splits and living in the media spotlight.

Tara Reid: I feel like sometimes journalist have written things about me that aren't true. I said this one quote in Maxium, I said you know "I work hard, party hard!" Well of course they took off the work hard. "Tara parties hard!" I'm like you know come on guys must you!

The rest of the story dealt with her new movie. Then at the end of the interview the ET Reporter said...
Tara tells ET that she has matured a lot in the past year and that she will never talk about her personal relationships in the press again.

Family Sues Over Fake Britney
AP reported that an upstate New York family is suing a radio station over a fake Britney Spears appearance. The family of Susan Santodonato is suing WMRV-FM of Endwell(correction), N.Y. and its parent companies for $1.2 billion. Santodonato died in June 2000, a day after she fell in the station's parking lot. She had taken her then 11-year-old daughter to catch a glimpse of Spears at the station after an on-air personality advertised an appearance by the pop singer. The station only aired a prerecorded interview and had a look-alike come out of the station and dive into a limo. The suit claims Santodonato was pushed or fell in the chaos. An autopsy concluded a blow to the head caused an abnormal heartbeat that lead to her death. Prosecutors reviewed the case but decided against filing criminal charges. The station's parent company has not commented on the suit.

Robert De Niro Persuaded Anson Mount
Ananova reported that the actor who plays Britney Spears' love interest in her new film was persuaded to do the movie by another Hollywood star. Anson Mount was working on a film with Robert De Niro when he was sent the script for Crossroads. He says he was on set reading the script when De Niro asked him what he was up to. "I told him 'I'm reading a script, it's this movie and Britney Spears is doing it and I'm not even sure I'm going to do it'" says Mount. "He goes 'Why not? She's great!' and I said 'Here's the script' and he read his Lucy to my Ben". "I can't remember which scene it was," says Mount. "But it wasn't the kissing scene!"
