Skye Sweetnam Feels Effect of Cancelled Britney Tour

Canada reported that when Britney Spears cancelled the rest of her summer tour following a knee injury, it wasn't just her fans that suffered. Sixteen-year-old newcomer Skye Sweetnam felt the ripple effect. The Bolton, Ont., singer was set to open for Spears this summer. Her debut album is scheduled for a September release on Capitol Records, and the tour could have served as a launching pad for her burgeoning career. Now, as Sweetnam puts it, she'll have to scramble to pull together a media tour and perform small acoustic shows to get the word out. "It was kind of disappointing (when Britney hurt her knee) because we had this whole media hype behind the tour," Sweetnam said. "It would have worked really well for a lead up for my album." Spears cancelled her tour last month after hurting her knee during a video shoot.

Lynne's Corner was updated on July 16th. Dear Fans, I am so sorry it's been so long since my last update. Now I don't even know where to start with filling you all in. I'm sure you know Britney has had surgery on her knee and unfortunately, had to cancel the summer leg of the tour. She feels so bad that so many of you were disappointed by this. She is thankful for all of your cards, prayers and get well wishes while she works on getting her knee well. Britney and Kevin just came back from celebrating 4th of July in Hawaii. It was her last chance at a vacation before the drudgery of physical therapy begins. They had a fun, lazy and wonderful time in the sun. And yes, I was left holding the new, not potty trained puppy. We have 2 new pups. Jamie Lynn has a yorkie named Allie Boo (red) and Brit's pup is Lacy Loo (white). They are so smart and cute. Although the main focus of the summer is to mend her knee, you'll still see Britney around here and there. Did you know she's nominated for 6 Teen Choice Awards? If you haven't already voted, please do so NOW on www.nickelodeon.com! Oh, Britney's new Elizabeth Arden fragrance line that is coming out in September is fabulous. You'll not only love the scent, but the bottles and packaging is precious. Speaking of her "Curious" line, I saw the bottles for the 1st time here in Boston today. We did the unveiling of the Britney Spears Foundation Room at the Onyx Hotel. It took us a couple of months of shopping all over the place, but it is indeed finished. We are all very excited about it. I really enjoyed having lunch today at the hotel with Kim and Jen, the 2 fourteen year old radio contest winners. They are the first ones to stay overnight in the Britney room. It was so much fun for me to watch their expressions while looking at the room. Jen- I'm telling you like I've told Britney- take care of that leg! And Kim, I hope you blew 'em away at your swim meet! And by the way, Britney loved her note and said it was so sweet of you. Ten percent of the room rate is donated to the Britney Spears Foundation. So fans, keep booking that room! Britney's also looking forward to visiting her summer camp again this summer. We can't believe it's already in its 5th year! Brit and I are so busy making wedding plans. Her dress is the most beautiful dress ever. Sorry I can't give you any details, but I promise major information and photo's will be given to the fan club site after the fact! So far it's been a great summer. Most of it has been spent in California. JamieLynn has been keeping busy working on episodes of her new show, Zoey, which will premier on Nickelodeon in January. Leigha, a girlfriend from home, has been staying with her this summer. It's been fun, yet hectic time. We still get a little homesick. Selfishly, it's been wonderful to have Bryan, Britney and JamieLynn all in the same city with me. We've been having Sunday night dinners all together as a family once again. I wish all of you fans a great, safe and happy rest of the summer. On behalf of all of us- I want to thank you again for your continued love and support. Britney To File Lawsuit Against New York Post

New York Daily News (arch-rival to the NY Post) reported that Britney wants to sue the New York Post. The 22-year-old pop sensation is demanding a retraction, an apology and some moolah from the paper after it splashed a photo of her guzzling what they said was whisky on its front page yesterday. Spears said through her lawyer that she was actually drinking ginseng - a nonalcoholic herbal supplement that supposedly boosts energy and mental clarity. And the California clerk who sold it to her is backing her up. Ginseng extract is often sold in liquor and convenience stores in small vials, different in shape from the mini-liquor bottles available on airplanes. "Ms. Spears intends to file a lawsuit against the New York Post and Bill Hoffmann, the writer of the article, unless the paper immediately issues an appropriate retraction, apology and financial settlement," lawyer Martin Singer said in a statement. Singer, Hollywood's top celebrity libel lawyer, blasted the cover story as "totally fabricated, fictional and defamatory" and said the paper could "easily have ascertained the truth" about what she was chugging. The Post's spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, said last night he could not reach any of the executives at the paper for comment. Earlier in the day, Rubenstein said Post editor in chief Col Allan pointed out through Rubenstein that the Daily News published an item on the bottle incident on page 53 yesterday. But The News, which attributed the report of the alleged drinking incident to British tabloids, did not print the photo. Spears' claim she was just drinking ginseng was backed up yesterday by Arif Alam, the clerk at Joe's Liquor in Venice, Calif., who rang up Spears' purchases on Monday afternoon. "She did not buy any alcohol at all - no alcohol!" Alam told The News. He insisted all Spears bought was a 10-milliliter bottle of Panax Red Ginseng Extractum for $1 and a can of Red Bull energy drink. After Spears and her fiancé, Kevin Federline, left the store, a swarm of paparazzi snapped the sexy singer tippling from the miniature bottle on the sidewalk in front of the store on Lincoln Blvd.

Looks like Britney's doing some liquidation. After selling her Los Angeles home last year, Britney's pad is on the market again, this time selling her New York residence. The New York Post reports that Britney's New York apartment, located on the top four floors of the Silk Building was recently listed. According to the Corcoran Group, the 4,400 square feet quadruplex loft on the East Fourth Street apartment includes eight rooms; three bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a bright solarium and a professional kitchen. The sanctuary also comes quipped with 13 feet ceilings, several wood-burning fireplaces, and a large rooftop terrace. So what's the asking price? A cool $6 million. Britney bought the luxurious home for $3 million back in 2002. At least we can say Britney is a good realtor. The Corcoran Group is the leading residential real estate Company in New York City, The Hamptons & East End, and in Palm Beach.

Britney Spears will marry fiance Kevin Federline in a lavish wedding at the Beverly Hills Hotel this November, taking her vows for the second time in a year. The Me Against the Music singer, 22, is already busy arranging the finer details of the glitzy occasion, with the help of a wedding planner and her mother Lynne. According to insiders, the estimated budget for the wedding is a cool $1.8m (€1.5m) and Britney is particularly keen on covering the venue with specialist white tulips from Amsterdam at a cost of $180,000 (€150,000). A source close to her wedding planner says: "She loves the tulips and wants the whole place decked out with them. "She's also specified that she wants 300 bottles of Cristal Champagne. She hasn't decided on a wedding breakfast menu yet but has said she isn't skimping on anything. "She wants a massive affair that is nothing like the cheap Las Vegas wedding she had before, which was annulled after just 55 hours." Access Hollywood exclusive: Lynne may have been surprised to hear her daughter popped the question to boyfriend, Kevin after dating three months. But now she's at peace with her 22-year-old daughter's nuptials and the two are planning for the big day. "Have you gone dress shopping or anything like that" asked Tara. A few weeks ago, the world was stunned when Brtiney Spears announced she would walk down the aisle with beau, Kevin Federline. But what does the mother of the bride-to-be think? Access Hollywood's Tara Bernie sat down exclusively with Lynne Spears. "Has there been a date set yet?" inquired Tara. "Nope, not yet. Everything is being decided," said Lynne. Britney's mom confirmed that the wedding for Britney and Kevin is a go but plans are still underway as far the date of the special occasion. "Yes... I just want her to have a really pretty beautiful wedding," said Lynne. Tara sat down with Lynne Tuesday at the Onyx Hotel in Boston as she treated radio contest winners to lunch. Lynne gave Tara an exclusive tour of the hotel suite she decorated to replicate Britney's bedroom at her home in Kentwood. Online Ireland reported that Britney Spears stunned shoppers in Malibu, California yesterday by downing shots and eating junk food in the street at lunchtime. The singer, 22, was out with her new fiance Kevin Federline when the couple stopped to buy chips, orangeade, and a miniature bottle of whiskey before tucking in as they walked along. And onlookers were shocked by the dishevelled appearance of the glamorous superstar, who paused briefly to drain the bottle dry. One says: "I had to look twice - it didn't even look like Britney. "Her hair was a mess and she looked like she was wearing his jeans, they were so long. The only giveaway was her bling-bling engagement ring." The couple have just returned from a romantic break in Hawaii following the announcement of their engagement.

Britney Pulls Out Of Hotel Opening

Fan-Portal.com reported that Britney Spears has snubbed the opening of her suite in the Onyx Hotel in Boston to spend time with her new fiance Kevin Federline. Kimpton Hotel + Resturant Group LLC executives were initially shocked when they heard Spears was planning to call her world tour the Onyx Hotel tour - the same name they had chosen for their new Massachusetts boutique hotel, which opened in May. But the bosses then spoke to Spears and decided to name a VIP suite after the star's charity The Britney Spears Foundation Room, which will donate a percentage of the proceeds to send ill children to a performing arts camp. At the official opening of the room on Tuesday, Spears' mother Lynne will cut the ribbon, while Spears and Federline relax in Hawaii.

Spears Family Went Nuts Over First Wedding

Britney Spears' family went "nuts" when they learned of her shock Las Vegas wedding - according to the bride groom Jason Alexander. Alexander, 22, and Spears, 22, wed in the gambling capital on January 3 and were greeted with a hostile Spears' family and their lawyers in the early hours after their marriage. Alexander says: "We'd married just after 4am and by 7am we knew we had to phone our families. Britney phoned her mum and I heard Lynne screaming back at her. She went nuts. "Her brother Bryan rang and I spoke to him. He talked about annulment. I didn't know what the word meant so I didn't say anything. Britney told me to ignore her family." However within hours, the Spears family and her business team were hammering down the door in their hotel suite at the Palms Casino Hotel. He explains: "Her brother was there with all her people. He whisked Britney into another suite and I was left with the rest of them. "It happened so quickly. Next her lawyers walked in. They spread a lot of papers on the desk and said if I cared about Britney I'd sign them. Britney didn't say anything. "The annulment papers stated Britney 'lacked understanding of her actions… They did not know each other's likes and dislikes, each other's desire to have or not have children, and each other's desires as to the state of residency." The annulment officially took place 55 hours after the wedding on 5 January. That night Spears, Alexander, her brother, her friends and her staff all went out for a meal - which her now ex-husband calls "awful". He adds: "I sat down next to her, she was crying. Everyone else was laughing about what we had done as though it was a big joke. We were treated like kids." After Alexander had been sent home back to Louisiana on an "economy class" ticket, his contact with Spears became limited. He comments: "We carried on talking on the phone and Britney said she felt the same about me. Britney would beg me to see her, it was more her than me but then I would get these calls cancelling it. It was as if someone was stopping us. "Then in March, I tried to call her and she'd changed her number without telling me. I knew it was over." ehh...I don't know how but it sounds something fake about it.

Kevin To Sign Pre-Nup?

Star magazine: TV Celebrity Justice is reporting Britney is getting Kevin to sign a prenuptial agreement after all. Under California community property laws, if there was no pre-nup, Kevin would be entitled to half the martial assets accumulated AFTER the marriage. So if Britney is currently worth $100 million and when they divorce she is worth $120 million then he would get $10 million, not $60 million. Jason Alexander Ditched By Britney

New York Daily News reported that the country boy Britney Spears married and then jilted is spilling the beans on their romance - detailing how the pop tart seduced him, proposed to him in bed and then let her family and lawyers break them up. Jason Alexander, 22, claims that after their 55-hour Las Vegas marriage was annulled, Britney sent him packing and even changed her phone number so he couldn't call, Britain's News of the World reported today. He's reportedly devastated that she's engaged to dancer Kevin Federline, 26, just seven months after their quickie wedding. "I didn't tell the world about this before because I still hoped we'd get back together," Alexander said. "But I now realize she won't come back to me." Alexander, who grew up with Spears in Louisiana, said they had shared a only few kisses before she invited him to Sin City for the New Year. But they were only in the hotel suite for a few seconds before she stripped naked. "She was an animal in bed," Alexander said. Early on Jan. 3 they were "chatting in bed, cuddled up and naked, saying we didn't want the trip to end," he said. "She said, 'I want to ask you something but I don't know how to.' I told her she could ask me anything. She acted really shy and said, 'Will you marry me?' "I said yes and she jumped out of bed, flung her jeans on and yelled, 'Let's do it now.' She was ecstatic. She didn't even put her panties on in the rush as she slipped on her jeans." But after the two tied the knot, the Spears clan rushed to Vegas and barged into their suite. He said Britney's handlers told him the marriage would wreck her career and pressured him into signing annulment papers - while his bride refused to stick up for him. After the union was dissolved, they had one last dinner before Spears' brother handed him a plane ticket home - in economy class. "Britney gave me a hug and a kiss and that was it," he said.

Britney Cameos In New Movie

Britney maybe not touring but she is still active in Hollywood. Britney will make a cameo appearance in the new comedy movie, Pauly Shore is Dead. Originally, Pauly Shore asked and convinced Britney to marry him as the hilarious ending scene of the movie. I'm friends with her manager Larry Rudolph and she got married, so I thought it would be funny if at the end of the movie, when I got out of jail, I actually marry her. I thought that would be cool.” - Pauly Shore. After a couple weeks of deliberating if she would follow through on the idea, she decided to axe it. However, Britney will still make a cameo appearance, just not marry Pauly. "I talked to her on the phone, I sold her on the idea, she was down to do it; she said we'll shoot it in three weeks and during those three weeks she changed her mind 50 times and then she said she didn't want to do it but we still got her to be in the movie."

Britney, Back On Tour?

Newly-engaged singer Britney Spears is reportedly planning to resume her Onyx Hotel Tour later this year. The Toxic hitmaker pulled the plug on the summer leg of her world tour after she injured her knee on the set of her new pop video Outrageous in June. Recent reports claim Spears will release a Greatest Hits collection in November - which will end her five album contract with Jive Records. Spanish TV channel TVE reported Spears will hit the road again after the disc is released and make many changes to her performances. TVE said Spears is considering changing the name of the tour, visiting Latin America and adding some new songs and laser shows. TeenMusic.com

Just days after announcing she is to wed Kevin Federline, the pop princess clashed with his mum over her motive for wanting to tie the knot with him. Britney,23, met Kevin's parents at their family home in California. His mum Collette decided to give Britney a grilling on why she had chosen her boy. A source is quoted by the Daily Mirror saying: "Collette asked her why she's chosen Kevin when she can have any man she wants. With UK tabloid reports indicating that her first child is due in late December, WagerOnSports.com today announced odds on the sex of Britney Spears' first born and when the pop star and her fiancee will officially tie the knot. The premium sports betting destination online, WagerOnSports.com has created betting options on whether Britney Spears' first child will be a boy or girl or if she'll have a "Baby One More Time" and deliver more than one baby. Britney's Greatest Hits Album Due In November

MTV reported that Britney is thinking about her next project — a greatest-hits album. Due November 16, the still-untitled LP will include some new material as well as a limited-edition remix bonus CD. A new song will be the first single, which is slated to hit radio September 14. Pop princess Britney Spears is refusing to sign a pre-nuptial agreement before she weds fiance Kevin Federline, because she's "marrying him for love and not money". According to American website Pagesix.com, the singer's parents are begging her to agree to a pre-nup ahead of her planned November wedding to dancer Federline - who, under California law, stands to win half her fortune if they divorce. The website claims Spears, who is worth a reported $100 million, had to buy her own $400,000 engagement ring and has put penniless Federline - who she has dated for just three months - on her payroll. Spears' mom Lynne is also reportedly upset with the singer, because she told her assistant about the engagement before her. Britney Recieves Death Threats From Stalker

Female First UK reported that Britney Spears is living in fear after receiving death threats from a stalker. The obsessed fan, who claims to have her name tattooed all over his body, has sent a string of threatening letters to the pop princess. In some of the correspondence sent to her record company Jive Records, he threatens to stab the 22-year-old singer. A source said: "This has left Britney terrified. She's beside herself with worry." The sexy singer's fiancé, Kevin Federline, who has also received death threats from the madman, is said to be so scared he has hired a bodyguard.

The news site has an interactive survey on its site, where visitors can weigh in on Spears' engagement. At press time, 26,363 people had responded to the online poll.
