Britney Spears Set To Release New Single “Hold It Against Me” On Tuesday, January 11th
Song Will Debut Simultaneously At Radio And On The U.S. iTunes Store At Midnight (EST) On January 11th
New York, NY- Britney Spears’ new highly anticipated song “Hold It Against Me” will premiere simultaneously on radio stations and be available immediately in the U.S. exclusively on the iTunes store, Tuesday, January 11th at 12AM EST.
“Hold It Against Me” is produced by Britney’s long-time collaborators Max Martin and Dr. Luke and is the official lead single from her forthcoming album. The as-yet-untitled seventh studio album is slated for release in March, 2011 on Jive Records.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase the song exclusively on the iTunes store until 1/18.
During her 12-year career, Britney has had five albums debut in the No. 1 position on Billboard ’s Top 200 Albums chart and she’s had 24 Top 40 hits on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart. Globally, Britney Spears is one of the top-selling artists of the past decade, dominating charts with her albums, selling an astonishing 67 million albums worldwide. Her previous albums include: …Baby One More Time (1999); Oops!… I Did It Again (2000); Britney (2001); In The Zone (2003); Blackout (2007); Circus (2008); and The Singles Collection (2009).
Now Magazine reports She’s been flashing what little cash she has in downmarket retailer Wal-Mart, but Britney Spears knows what’s best for her when it comes to her dad.
The singer’s career and finances are still under the control of dad Jamie after the courts extended the two-year conservatorship order indefinitely.
Officially Britney is said to be ‘content’ with the arrangement, but Now’s insider says it’s been a tough pill to swallow.
‘I don’t think it’s true to say Britney’s happy with it,’ says a friend.
‘After all, it’s her hard earned money she sacrificed her childhood to make, but she’s learnt to see it as part of her recovery.
‘When she looks back at the past two years, she can’t deny it’s improved, so she has to accept her father is doing something right.
‘What bothers her is he uses it to control her. If she misbehaves her father restricts her allowance.
‘In December he gave her some money and she spent it all online within 30 minutes! Jamie decided that was irresponsible, so he cut her allowance in half the following week.
‘It’s a battle, to say the least.’
But it’s not all skint city for Britney, who under the new terms of her conservatorship was able to negotiate an increase in her allowance, from £1,000 to a whopping £16,000 a week.
‘That certainly helped,’ adds the pal.
‘She can’t get anything past Jamie, but it’s made her stronger. It’s taught her discipline and the value of a dollar, something she wouldn’t have known otherwise.’
RyanSeacrest.com reports It’s been over two years since Britney Spears released her sixth studio album Circus, and with the welcoming of 2011, the reigning princess of pop is set to take back the music scene. Tuesday, Spears is set to release her first single “Hold It Against Me” from her forthcoming album slated to hit stores and iTunes in March.
Spears’ managers Larry Rudolph and Adam Leber gave Ryan a first listen to the high-energy single on Thursday, which blew away the demo that leaked online earlier this morning. Leber played the song off of his trusted iPod Classic in Ryan’s radio studio (see photo below). Britney’s managing team also played a second song for Ryan, “I I I Wanna Go” another powerhouse single from the new album.
Rudolph and Leber explained to Ryan that the creative process for “Hold It Against Me” music video is well underway and are nothing short of spectacular. Spears has been rehearsing choreography for the video for a month now, and will shoot in two weeks.
Britney has confirmed that her single will officially drop on Tuesday. Britney states, “Heard an early demo of my new single leaked. If u think that’s good, wait til you hear the real one Tuesday.” She also posted up the cd cover for the single.
Breatheheavy.com is reporting that Hold It Against Me might drop tonight due to the leak. More details to come.
Beyonce Knowles leads the Forbes.com list of top-earning young entertainment moguls in the making with estimated earnings of $87 million, followed by Britney Spears with an estimated $64 million and Lady Gaga’s $62 million.
The news organization looked at top-earning celebrities at or under the age of 35 who have revenue streams from more than one field. It covered pre-tax earnings from all entertainment-related ventures, from fragrances and clothing lines to endorsement deals, between June 2009 and June 2010.
“Endorsement deals with companies ranging from Nintendo to L’Oreal and her growing House of Dereon fashion line bring in millions of dollars per year,” Forbes.com noted about Beyonce, who is not yet 30, for example. “Though the largest sum comes from her main gig, music, she has also ventured into film, TV specials, fashion, a fragrance and a growing list of lucrative endorsement deals. And she’s been vocal about her desire to conquer the only stage she has not yet graced: Broadway.”
Spears and Lady Gaga also have diversified beyond music via a clothing line and top-selling perfumes in the former’s case and product placements in music videos in the case of the latter.
Behind the top-ranked trio, Miley Cyrus took the fourth spot on the Forbes.com list with estimated earnings of $48 million, thanks in part to her role in The Last Song and merchandise sales, followed by Taylor Swift with $45 million who benefited from Sony and CoverGirl endorsement deals, among other things.
Pink ($44 million), The Jonas Brothers (35.5 million), Reese Witherspoon ($32 million) and Gisele Bundchen and Daniel Radcliffe ($25 million each) round out the top 10 compiled by Forbes.com.
Billboard reports As Britney Spears fans keep clamoring to hear the pop star’s new album before its March release, one person who’s heard the music promises that it will be well worth the wait.
“Her album is amazing — like, I can’t even believe it,” DJ Pauly D, star of MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” tells Billboard.com of Spears’ upcoming set. “I will be playing her tracks in the club, they’re so good. I think this is gonna be one of her greatest albums.”
How did the reality TV star get the inside access required to hear Spears’ top-secret music? The two share a business connection through their managers, Larry Rudolph and Adam Leber. “Britney’s awesome. We have the same management, and that’s how we meet a lot,” Pauly D explains.
Aside from teasing that she was recording a “big” song with hitmaker Dr. Luke in November and later announcing that her album would be coming in March, Spears has kept the details of her seventh studio set under wraps. Last week, it was widely reported that the singer would debut her album’s lead single, “Hold It Against Me,” this Friday (Jan. 7), but her manager Leber has since posted messages from her Twitter account to clear up what he called “misinformation,” writing, “Never pay attention to unofficial announcements.” Leber added that “Hold It Against Me” is “definitely coming in January” but did not name an exact date.
On Thursday, a demo rumored to be of “Hold it Against Me” leaked online, featuring another female singer’s vocals on the track. At press time, however, Spears’ camp has neither confirmed nor denied that the song is a demo for her single.
Meanwhile, Pauly D says he’s already planning to play Spears’ new music at his next DJ gig. “Everyone’s steering towards dance and everything like that, and she’s like, right there,” he says. “That’s how I judge good music, is where I’m gonna play it. Like, ‘alright, I’ll play that in the car or I can play that in the club.’ You can definitely play her stuff in the club.
“Although,” he says with a knowing smile, “she has some tracks you can play in the car, too.”
I am proud to announce that I will be coming back to the site full time. I promise you that I will clean up the site and get it back to what it used to be.
Britney Spears is set to play a cameo role in an episode of TV musical comedy “Glee” that will be devoted to the pop star’s music, the show’s creator Ryan Murphy said on Tuesday (Aug. 10).
But the episode in the upcoming second season of the hit television show will not poke fun at the former pop princess and her meltdown three years ago, Murphy said.
“Britney, I think 100 percent, is going to be on the episode. She is going to join us for a couple of scenes,” Murphy said in an interview with Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest.
Murphy did not say what character Spears, 28, would play in the episode, which he described as “reverential…and so kind…We are handling Britney with kid gloves”.
The Britney Spears-themed episode follows “Glee” tributes to the music of Madonna and Lady Gaga earlier this year, although neither of the pop singers appeared in the show.
Murphy said the music of Spears — who became a worldwide phenomenon 10 years ago with hits like “Oops..I Did it Again” — would play out as fantasy sequences. Some of the “Glee” high school show choir characters will be in the dentist’s chair and will hallucinate about being like the singer.
Spears, whose life spiraled out of control in 2007 and 2008 after a short-lived marriage and two children, made her comeback with the 2008 album “Circus” and a successful world tour. She has since adopted a much lower public profile.
“I really admire what she’s done with her life and how she’s turned herself around,” Murphy said. “Britney Spears is pop culture, and I think she’s been through a lot.”
“Glee” features a misfit bunch of high school kids in a choir show that sings versions of pop, hip-hop and Broadway songs. It has been nominated for 19 Emmy awards and returns to U.S. television in September. No date has yet been announced for the Britney Spears episode.
Murphy also sought to quash widespread rumors that he is working on a Michael Jackson-themed episode in February that will be broadcast immediately after the 2011 Super Bowl — the biggest annual TV event in the United States.
He told Seacrest he would like to do a Jackson episode, but said “I don’t have the rights to that, and at this point it is really hard to clear Michael Jackson music.” Rights to Jackson’s work and image are strictly controlled by the executors of the late singer’s estate.
Murphy said he would alternatively love to use the music of Prince or The Beatles for the post-Super Bowl episode.
